“DADDIES GIRLS”

……………………”Daddy’s Girls”…….Do you think they owned the house?????…..LOL……….That wasn’t my doing believe me! Jac spoiled them, and allowed them to go anywhere……..However, there were also daddy’s rules, and there were certain rooms that were “off limits”…..My office, in the photo, was not off limits…..as you can see……However, our bed was off limits!!!……I remember one night Jac let them sleep with us…..As Jac was off in dream land, I had Sammy on my head!…….All night long all they did was lick their paws!…LICK, LICK, LICK!!!…..It drove me NUTS!….no sleep for daddy……That was the first and LAST time they slept with us…….I must confess all three were lovable and very affectionate! When we watched TV, Sammy used to circle around me on the couch….climbing on the back of the couch and making her way to my CHEST…..where she made herself very comfortable! She would look at me with those soulful eyes to see if I was going to scoot her off, and when I didn’t, she put her head down on my chest with a sigh, and stayed there for the night until SHE decided to find another place to rest her weary body!……What can I say……..a real mush………….a true DADDY”S GIRL!……..I do miss them, but I love the freedom I have now.

“FALL IS HERE!”

……………….Fall is here….and I am lamenting the end of summer!….even thought I do love fall….but you know what comes after fall!……When I was designing a collection for Anne Klein..I usually did hundreds of quick croquis sketches, and chose from those what I wanted to make samples of. Then I would do a “work sketch” for my draping assistants which had detailed notes and was more of an accurate “working” sketch…….but…..when I had time, and was in the mood, I did more elaborate illustrations. I have very few of them, but some I saved. They were fun to do, but much more time consuming…They were for my own pleasure and creative outlet…..Here are examples of more illustrative sketches for a Fall collection…….On the left a wool embroidered coat with Mongolian lamb trim over a velvet vest, white blouse, and embroidered georgette scarf….to the right a shearling coat over a wool crepe tunic and a bolero in suede…I’m don’t remember what the bottom was supposed to be?? a skirt over pants??? a little overkill…LOL……..I always sketched berets!………..I would make all of these clothes today!!

“THIS BRING A SMILE TO MY FACE”

…………………….Every morning I wake up very early, most of the times before the sun comes up!……..I groggily head down to the kitchen to make myself a hot cup of tea……As I’m at the sink, filling my tea kettle with cold water, I look up and sitting on the window sill above the sink are these smiling faces of my little Halloween creatures, and two pictures of Jac……No matter what mood I woke up in……..these funny looking guys, and Jac’s pictures bring a smile to my face, and I remember when Jac and I discovered them and had to have them……….They made us LAUGH!……Sweet memories!

“MY FOUR FAVORITE MAGAZINES”

…………………What are your FOUR FAVORITE MAGAZINES??………I get many magazines…..too many……..but my four favorites are……..bon appetite……Architectural Digest……..Victoria……and People……..”People”, because we all like a little gossip, and to read about celebrities…….”Architectural Digest”, for me is the most interesting of all the magazines of its’ type because it’s so international….I like seeing peoples homes and public building from around the world and the US…The articles and interviews plus the pages of where some of the furnishings come from are all interesting to me…..They are photographed beautifully……..”bon appetite” was one of Jac’s favorites, and it has become mine too….She started subscribing to it many many years ago, and I continue…..The articles and receipts are all interesting to me….It has superb creative photography……..”Victoria”, was another magazine that was Jac’s favorites…….It is beautifully done and very informative…..I love their travel loge….Every issue has something new to offer….It’s a magazine with in depth articles and superb photography……..You may have noticed that there isn’t ONE FASHION magazine….You may think that’s strange for a fashion designer…….I used to get many of them, but I have found them boring and not RELETAVE anymore…..I find there isn’t any CREATIVITY anymore. I’m sure part of that is budget cuts, but the challenge….there isn’t one ounce of creativity…..I don’t like the clothes chosen…..I didn’t like the models, and I thought the pages were very mediocre….so I cancelled all of them, and I don’t miss them……As I said I do get other magazines…..mostly about the home, travel and food………..What are your FOUR FAVORITES?
