………………………Since LABOR DAY is upon us, and many children start school next week…..for me….FALL has officially started…….It already feels like fall here in New England, and the hot temperatures are loosing out to cooler days and nights………..Many of you have already seen sneak peeks of this jacket….thank you gODFREAKo……….so I thought it would be the perfect garment to start off my September Sneak Peeks. If the predictions about another brutally cold winter come true, this will be a perfect outerwear jacket to own. I have heard it referred to as a PEA JACKET, but it is not….that will be coming latter…Some of you lucky ones already own a very similar jacket to this I did a few years ago. It came in Black with big gold ball buttons. It was to be reordered, but once again there was difficulty getting the mill to remake the fabric….I think what actually happened, though I don’t know this as fact, was the mill sold the fabric at too low a price and refused to make it again knowing a reorder has to be kept at the same price…..so instead of upsetting the client, me, they just said they couldn’t remake it. If the original fabric can’t be purchased then the reorder is killed. I have seen many similar fabrics to that original one…. so that is what I surmise happened., but it’s just a guess…………………..That’s the history of the previous jacket….now for my new version of the …… DOUBLE BREASTED “SWING”. The silhouette is almost identical to the original with some tweaks……….This does not have the breast flap with the button, but the back flap and button plus the inverted pleat remain. This jacket is slightly longer measuring approx. 28 inches from the HPS [high point shoulder]. There are set in BAND POCKETS in the front, and sleeve straps with buttons on the long RAGLAN SLEEVES…….The buttons are the same style as the original, but slightly smaller. Whereas the original buttons were bright gold the buttons on each of the new colors are burnished or antiqued……….Above on the ………BRICK RED…….the buttons are GUNMETAL. The collar has a stand like a TRENCH COAT so it frames the face beautifully. The stand leaves room to tie a…..BRICK RED…. Whisper Knit scarf, A257914, under the neck to keep out the winter winds. The silhouette, as the original, has a swing or A-LINE shape….nothing exaggerated, just to give you some ADDED EASE WHEN SITTING DRIVING YOUR CAR…….perfect for my pears and apples…………The fabric has the same look as my ORIGINAL BOUCLE that many many of you own and love. It is much flatter and not as loopy as last years coat in the ruby, malachite and lapis. Of course this is a little heavier than the original boucle making it more of an OUTWEAR JACKET….This is a DRY CLEAN ONLY garment, and it should be…..really how many times do you dry clean an outwear garment?….If you’re like me…it’s once a season just before you store it away..The BRICK RED color is not as bright a red as my photos would have you believe. No matter what I tried with the camera….it came out brighter and redder than it is. It is actually close to the A257280, short Brick Red jacket I sold in July, but this boucle came out a little redder and brighter than that due to the fiber content….45%rayon/28%wool/27%polyester…..so the jacket is 73% rayon and wool. It is fully lined in a beautiful DTM satin. This really is an every day jacket, because it will be so comfortable to wear, and as the weather gets colder you will have the room to layer for additional warmth. I have chosen to show the BRICK RED JACKET above simply with a pair of jeans which is the way many will wear it, but it looks equally good with a pair of pants or a skirt….short or long……..I think the only trouble you will have is…..which color????………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………….
