………………….For my Spring Anne Klein 1991 collection I developed, with an Italian mill, the most beautiful graphic HOUNDSTOOTH CHECK fabric in a combination of a RIBBON YARN, wool and silk….The Hounds Tooth check is one of the most classic, iconic patterns, and has been in existence for centuries, but when done in knew ways always seems fresh and relevant…It was soft due to the ribbon yarn, which also tailored beautifully……Here are three examples of the fabric used in three different styles….from right to left….the short zip front crop jacket……the center shaped jacket is longer also with a clean zip front, and the jacket to the extreme left top is the LONGEST of the jackets with patch pockets…..The  circle and square, and the double pearl stick pins, the earrings and the ZIPPER PULLS were all made by my American jewelry factory in R.I……..The SPECTATOR SHOES were MADE IN ITALY…….The Spring collection sold very well…….REMEMBER……this was all THIRTY FOUR YEARS AGO!

…………”FASHION FROM THE PAST”……..The model is wearing a complete Anne Klein outfit from head to toe from my Spring 1991 collection….I loved creating complete looks……I loved designing the clothing, but my vision was the whole look from top to bottom….Designing the accessories was such a treat for me to see my thoughts and dreams come to reality…..So many designers didn’t have the opportunity to achieve this, but at Anne Klein we had all of the necessary licenses….and if we didn’t I created them….I used to always have a company called Peneco do my hosiery…..When the stores wanted to buy them, and house them in their Anne Klein boutiques…I signed a deal with the company to produce a line of Anne Klein Hosiery….The stores were thrilled, because now they could buy EVERYTHING I showed on the runway…..They were all incredible quality!!!….The shoes were all made in Italy, and it was great fun creating the shoe line in Italy twice a year!….The bags were made mostly in the US, but some were produced in Italy by the same companies that made the shoes…..The knit dress, cardigan and shoes were all made in Italy…..the woven bucket bag, and jewelry were made in the US, as were the tights……the American factories, that I worked so closely with, and where I had great friends, are all closed now….VERY SAD!

……..I recently came across this video of the incomparable JUDY GARLAND…..She looked as if life was drained from her….and she was only in her forties!….She was on the Johnny Carson show, and I could tell from the set decorations that it was the Christmas season…She began to sing the most melancholy Christmas song I ever heard. It was sad….and I wondered why she chose that song, out of all the Christmas songs to sing….but it was Judy and she was WONDERFU!
