Hi Louis
Great Facebook show today. I know you are doing your black tuxedo jacket in another color besides black. Can you share with us the color or colors you chose.
I love my Linea tuxedo jacket. I know I will buy it in another color.
Dear Joanne….the majority wanted navy with the black satin with navy sequin pants, and that was my plan……but…..with the new price increases I don’t think QVC is going to buy it again. This is happening with many items. As a company my manufacturer just can not produce these things as we did 2 years ago at the price we offered it at then. Elaine always prices the garments with a very tight margin. However, much has changed since we first made them, and there is no possible way she could keep those prices without loosing money. Sorry for this unpleasant news. If anything changes I will let you know
Sheila, THAT’s my jacket! Thanks so much for looking it up … and I apologize, I think I called you “Susan” on the comments. This new laptop keyboard is a bigger learning curve than I expected. My skirt shipped today, so I’ll be trying that combo next week. along with the PP Faux Suede jacket 🙂
Louis,
I think QVC is mixing things up again.
My Jac’s Garden bracelet and necklace arrived today.
I ordered the multi necklace and that is what came today. It is the one with the gold chain and No turquoise beads. It is what I ordered and what I expected.
The problem is with the bracelet. I ordered the cobalt thinking it was the match to the multi necklace, but it is not.
The bracelet I received was labeled cobalt on the bottom of the box, but the bracelet has the turquoise beads It does not match the multi necklace.
Do you think I should try ordering a cobalt bracelet again or should I order turquoise hoping that there was a mix up in labeling?
Thank you!
I would reorder since the box was labeled correctly but someone put the wrong bracelet in it. I forwarded your post to the Company.
BTW, it’s not QVC….they go by the box label and ship it out. They assume it was packaged correctly.
I watched the video and the colors were actually called Blush and Bamboo! Ring a bell now?
Sheila
Hi, Louis. What a fun Facebook Live show! Here’s the item number of the Perfectly pink and black trimmed unlined jacket. A233851 It was very Chanelesque! Collarless, trimmer in Black, and Black trim around the bottom hem. Also two breast pockets and two regular pockets trimmed in Black. Dyed to match shell buttons. I believe the jacket also in a light beige color with Black trim. Video is still up on the Q!!!!!!
Sheila
Yes Shelia, now that I can see the jacket I remember it well. It should look good with the emb skirt. I would wear it open with a black or Perfectly pink WK
Louis, Black attracts tsetse flies and mosquitoes in Botswana! As you said, White and other bright colors are startling to the animals!
Sheila
Thanks Shelia…..good to know….NO black for me!
What time is the Facebook show tomorrow?
I believe it is at 3PM, but will post tomorrow.
Lynne, also try Eddie Bauer. The Women’s Guide UPF Field L/S Shirt – Boyfriend has a slight texture,(you need to zoom in to see), light weight, doesn’t wrinkle and has a nice fit, but no epaulets. I ordered Cloud and went back for two more. They are an upgrade fabric from the typical Columbia. The Vista collection from L.L.Bean is interesting for pants. Please share your adventures. Cape Town and Botswana seasons do not coincide.
Safari – check out https://www.tilley.com for their Men’s Heritage Travel clothing.
Louis, thank you for the wardrobe suggestions. I am told Cape Town weather to be in the 70s with a possibility of occasional rain. I will ck out LL Bean too! Safe travels. L
Hi Louis
I own the Linea scarlet blazer. I think Jac’s black garden blouse will look great with the scarlet blazer and black pants. My question is Jac’s black garden blouse to long to tuck into my black pants? Thanks
Dear Joanne, I certainly can’t speak from experience….LOL, but Jen believes you can because it is so light. You should ask her on face book.
Are you going to be featuring some of the new jewelry on your FB Live presentation? I’d really like to see the new Liquid group up close and personal before the free shipping disappears. I’ve already ordered the chocolate, but have my eye on the gunmetal and silver. I didn’t order the earrings yet as I really need to see those on a live person to judge the size. I know you like the look of two necklaces worn together. Would you wear two different finishes together?
Yes to all your questions, I will be showing all of the new jewelry and some of the pieces that were just marked down to unbelievable prices….plus all of the new apparel!
Louis
A265615
Linea by Louis Dell’Olio Knit Pull-On Slim Ankle Pants — will these be reordered? BTW, I very much miss seeing you and your on-air presentations. Enjoy your semi retirement!
Suzy6H3U
Yes Suzy, they have and the new color is tobacco…No need to miss me…I will be on Face Book Live tomorrow at about 2 or 3……we will be posting
Hi Louis, thank you for sharing your Safari company. I was scheduled to travel to China in May. Instead, I am flying to Johannesburg and then Cape Town for business and a training class, then off on Safari! I am working on my attire ;0) Any new gauze crepe for the spring? These trips are always tricky. Business clothes for two weeks and then safari attire in ONE small soft bag. Ideas for a working and safari wardrobe? Many thanks! L
Dear Lynne….What will the weather be like in late May when, after your business portion of the trip is finished, you will go on Safari. May is their Fall. I would keep the business attire to a minimum taking a color scheme like black and white and adding a few accent pieces. I think Gauze crepe separates in black like the blazer, and the pants, maybe a tunic would be good and some moss crepe layering pieces. A new Gauze Crepe tunic is coming soon. Two or three statement pieces of jewelry max. Two pairs of shoes. For the Safari keep it really simple. I have been told by the Safari Co. no black or white, Tans, khaki, olives blues mid range dusty colors. I guess they don’t want anything for the animals to notice???? I am stocking up on Tees, cotton shorts and cotton long pants, all light weight and mostly from L L Bean. I’ll be there in their spring so I will bring one or two light weight long sleeve waffle knit pull overs for layering and a zip front hoodie. I was told to bring a dress shirt or two for special dinners, but I’m sure those will be somewhat casual too. EVERYTHING washable because every camp has laundry service so I will keep socks and such at a minimum. I’m going to try to be good!!!
Hi Louis
I ordered the denim trench jacket as well as matching cargo pants. Last year you did a blue pinstripe shirt with embroidery on the front. I hope that blouse looks good with denim trench/pants. I also own the white version of that shirt. Both should look good with the trench/cargo pants.
Dear Louis,
I am sorry to hear about the situation with factories being closed because of the virus, tariffs, and so forth. I pray that all these extenuating situations get resolved sooner rather than later.
After doggedly checking back throughout the day at QVC, I eventually was able to order the Embroidered Skirt (Tulle) in the Latte color. I cannot wait to receive it.
The shows today were great. There were so many gorgeous items. Thanks for all your hard work and creativity. By the way, Jennifer is doing a wonderful job.
Louis, Could you have one of your staff remind QVC to post the size chart for your fancy tights A440949 ? Linea Ladies know their sizes from previous orders, but the lack of a chart with this item is probably inhibiting new customers. P.S. Was looking at that item to figure out which design would work as a combo with the Coquette Skirt.
CGee I’ve forwarded this info to my Hosiery Co. With the Coquette skirt I like the Point d’Esprit…..It’s not too much but the pattern works with the tulle.
Hi Louis
I ordered the turquoise Jac’s garden blouse based upon your photos.
After watching the online video with Jennifer, I ordered the black too.
It looked good on Carolyn and Jennifer mentioned that it looked good with
the scarlet blazer. I figured it will look good with my red slim pants too.
Anyway ,can you give me a timeframe for the shantung jacket, the new hi-lo in black/white?
Also are we going to get the slim leg faux suede pants in the fall or is this
delayed also? I can not find a video for the animal print. Has it been presented yet?
I ordered the navy, but want to see the caramel. The picture does not look
great and am having visualizing the shade-
I wore the violet and malachite whisper knits several times during the mardi gras season this year- they were perfect
thanks
Sarah
Louis
Thanks for the quick response on the Denim pull on pants and new gauze trench. I have the pants and I just ordered the Denim trench (along with the Black trench). I love playing in the Linea closet!
Happy Mardi Gras.
Michelle
Dear Louis,
Thank you, thank you, thank you for procuring the loden green trench belt for me. Please advise as to how I can proceed.
You are such a dear to go the extra mile.
Noreen just tell me an address to send it and your full name and Rowena will send it right out to you.
Hi Louis—
Will the knit pull on slim pants be restocked? These are the best pants ever!
Suzy
Suzy I need a style number.
Dear Louis,
Does it look like A351463, the Regular Embroidered Skirt (Tulle), in the Latte color will be reordered after all? I remember you saying something about that color being reordered and that the skirt also would be coming in other colors. I ordered the Latte color skirt three times and every time the order mysteriously disappeared. I was fortunate to get that skirt in the Vivid Blue color, however. It is exquisite! Well done, Sir!
Dear WwF….it seems that ALL fall reorders are on hold….ALL! Between tariffs, duties and QVC price requirements all prices have to be increased just to meet these demands The virus is also causing problems because factories are not opening. If QVC won’t except these increases we can not meet the old prices.
Louis
Sheila’s question made me wonder….would the new gauze trench in Denim go with the Denim printed pull on pants (A351470)?
Michelle
Yes Michelle, they look very good together.
The new cargo pants in regular (A374713) and petite (A374714) have been posted.
Michelle
Hi, Louis. Will the new Gauze Trench in Denim go with the the Lace pants in Indigo?
Sheila
No Shelia…the lace pant looks green next to the trench which is more periwinkle.
Louis,
Is that floral embroidered skirt, a knee length skirt or mid shin? I know the TV models are taller than me (5’2”) and when I measure out a Medium length on me, it hits me mid shin. The model they used in the online photo doesn’t have her height listed.
Regards,
Chris
Dear Chris calling a skirt a maxi, midi or mini etc is relative to the length of ones legs from the waist down. As with crop pants the skirt will hit everyone differently. Look at the length measurement on the QVC linea site and compare it with your skirts for the best answer.
The photo stylings for Linea just keep getting worse! I’m left shaking my head out of frustration. Where would we be without your site?
I shake my head too. You would think that a company that relies on on line business would have a staff of stylists to make the clothes look the best as possible. I just looked at the emb skirt and they are the most unflattering photo and that mustard gold top!!!!
Is is me or are they showing the black version of the Jac’s Garden scarf for both the black and the red choices on the order page? Doesn’t the red one have a blue border? I’m a bit confused because I do want the red version, not the black one. I hope it’s just a photo mix up and not a warehouse problem. I realize you have little control over this, but I think I won’t be the only one confused by this.
Dear Carol they repeated the black scarf for the red. I’m sure if you order red, the red will come.
Louis, the free shipping is only showing on the older jewelry items today. None of the newer items are showing Free Ship.
Thank you louis for the helpful explanation. Would have loved it in the ivory.but very glad it is coming back. Happy to wait. Best all around Linea blazer ever, in my opinion. Also looking forward to the returning shantung jacket..🙂
Louis, Are there any plans to reorder the fabulous solid color blazers for next Fall/winter? I have all colors and pipe dreaming anout that wonderful trench coat fabric in Ivory and in Linea Navy.
Dear Nancy…..If an item wasn’t priced for ivory than it can not be reordered in ivory as the price would be higher [all white and ivory clothing is priced higher due to the special care it needs in production], and once a price is established it can’t go up according to QVC. So ivory is a no even thought it would look great in ivory……….The blazer is on the definite reorder list…..but….due to tariffs, increased duties and other issues including this virus in China causing production to be at a stand still, and we are in a flux about everything….It’s a waiting game.
Hi Louis,
Is the super ponte slim leg pant item number A298447 coming back? Love this pant and hoping for more!
No Francesca….rule of thumb…..once an item goes on clearance it can not be reordered. Once the price has been reduced it can not come back at the full price. So no reorders on clearance items ever.
Thank you so much for the inside scoop, Louis.
Louis, will you be introducing any new colors for the “Printed 3/4 Sleeve Hi-Low Hem Tunic” (A263353)? Or, has this particular Big Hit come to a natural end? I am trying to see if I should pick up any additional colors now before they are all gone.
Yes Goldie 2 new ones that are already listed on the site, Black/White and Black/Copper. Of course they are on wait list because they won’t be avail until later in the season. However, none of the existing colors except the BLUE are returning so if there is something you really want badly do not wait too long. When a color is sold out it won’t be returning.
Hi Louis,
Has the slim leg super ponte pant been retired? I hope not, I love that pant and am looking for more!!!!
Dear Francesca…..I need a style number. There are many “slim” pants.
Oh Louis,
What a beautiful pansy print! Like Jac, my mother loved to plant pansies and brought home her flats of flowers to fill her patio flower boxes and pots. My dad always did any soil prep for her so she could just enjoy planting and deciding which colors to put together. I just ordered ‘A Potpourri of Pansies’ on Amazon, thank you for telling us about it.
Love, Diana
Thank you!
If I decide on the turquoise shirt, I will also get the turquoise beads. At least I am prepared with the multi necklace and bracelet no matter what colors I choose.
This print is so beautiful and a lovely tribute to Jac. Flowers are so meaningful to many of us. The pansies remind me of my grandmother who was an artist and hand painted china. I have some pieces of hand painted china with pansies which have been handed down to me. Thank you for the memory.
Dear Chris……Jac has a sweet little book all about the pansy. It is called ‘a potpourri of PANSIES” by Emelie Tolley and Chris Mead. Every spring at “pansy planting time”. Jac would read this little book. I guess it refreshed her memory about the meaning of pansies, and the pictures are so beautiful. I have used this book as a source for my print……It sits at Jac’s bedside……Pansies mean “thoughts of you”, so I can understand why Jac loved them so much……There is a wonderful little poem in this book by George Chapman…………..” I pray, what flowers are these? The pansy this. O that’s for lover’s thoughts”
Good Morning,
I’m wondering if both of Jac’s Garden necklaces and bracelets go with all colors of the shirt and scarves.
I just ordered the multi, but the turquoise is really calling to me, too! I haven’t decided yet which colors of shirts to order and don’t want to miss out on the necklaces.
I’m going to a matinee in downtown Chicago today and am planning to wear last year’s floral scarf in the black and perfectly pink with the pp elbow sleeve mock neck and black wk pants and cardigan.
Thanks!
Chris….the multi set works with all colors but the turquoise was specifically done for the turquoise blouse. It too however will work with many many things.
Hi Louis, I just checked again on the necklace. If you click the silver color it says gunmetal, and the darker grey says silver tone.
I will notify my staff, but since it’s the weekend it probably won’t be corrected…..A HEADS UP…starting this MONDAY thru FRIDAY all jewelry will have FREE SHIPPING and HANDLING!!!!!
Good morning, Louis. The Liquid necklace, J487227 has the Gunmetal and Silvertone names with colors reversed. I’m not prepared to order all four options at this point.
Dear designista….I just looked and didn’t see this? Only the chocolate color shows up. When you click the other colors it doesn’t change from Chocolate. The earring and bracelet are all correct.
Louis, OMG that new black/white Maasai Group is beyond stunning, I thought the first one was the bomb but this is a BIG WOW. The necklace, earrings and bracelet are posted on QVC. I can’t wait to receive this!
Good afternoon Louis,
More new jewelry has posted at the Q. I’m confused by the color choices on Jac’s Garden. The bracelet says ‘cobalt’ & ‘turquoise’ & the necklace/earring set says ‘multi’ & ‘turquoise’ . Will there be 3 color options or 2 color options? Thanks.
Regards,
Chris
No there are only two. the multi should say cobalt. Thanks for pointing this out. I will try to have it changed, but the wheel turns very slowly.
Wow, I’m surprised, too. It’s such a flattering sweater. I think it’s perfect with slim ankle pants and flats, or pencil skirts and heels. Very classic Audrey Hepburn. And you just can’t beat the quality of your knits.
Enjay….that’s exactly what I thought….very Audrey Hepburn with slim ankle pants and ballet flats
Louis, I am loving the new Elbow Sleeve Whisper Knit Sweater. I bought it in black and loden, and it looks terrific with the whisper knit skirts and shorter cardigans you brought us two years ago. I wear those constantly – I bought the WK skirts, sleeveless mock necks, and shorter cardies in black, navy, and charcoal. Is there any chance any of these gorgeous essentials will come back? Such high quality knits are a luxury!
Dear Enjay….the styles you are asking about are not being reordered, even though they did extremely well. However the mock neck, elbow sleeve only sold fairly as you can see all sizes and colors are avail. I’m quite surprised since everyone wants WK?
Good Morning Louis,
Several pieces of jewelry have popped up on QVC. I’m loving Jac’s Garden!!! So far only the multi has a pic. Would you please sneak a pic of the turquoise?
Have a terrific day!!!
Hugs,
Bernadette 🤗🤗🤗
Thanks to Louis and also to Cathy for your feedback. Now I know. Oh, I couldn’t figure out how to write “thanks” so it connected to your feedback – so it’s here instead!
Will there ever be a matching skirt and/or tuxedo pants (solid black with a satin stripe on each leg) to coordinate with the tuxedo jacket?
WwF. I’ve sketched them but they did not buy. There will be a solid skirt for sure and maybe a solid pant later in the season.
I meant to write : I ordered the new satin blouses and tanks in all colors, love them. I wanted to know if the loden blouse will work with the slim pants A265615 in OLIVE.
Dear nikki…..I tried them together. I thought I would like them but I don’t. The pant is too yellow green for the top and to my eye they clash.
Hello Louis,
I ordered the new satin blouses and tanks in all colors, love them. I wanted to know if the loden blouse will work with the slim pants A265615.
Also i noticed that these pants are wait listed in tobacco. I love your tobacco color and missed out on a few vintage items so I am looking forward to it
Dear Louis,
Will there be any white crepe gauze pants this year?
WwF, there aren’t any crepe gauze white pants coming, but I highly recommend the A351460 white pants. I think they are really fabulous pants and super light weight.
If I might add, for Carolyn: I LOVED the Buttercream the moment I saw it, and ordered with some trepidation, as it’s a tricky color for me to wear up close at the face. I have fair skin, and sandy hair. I LOVED the color in person, and was a bit unsure when I first tried it on, if it loved me back :). Tried it on again, in better lighting, a nice top under, a bit of bright jewelry at the neck, a nice lipstick and hint of blush and … oooh, I LOVE that jacket most although my pink and black jackets are nice too lol ;). Next up Black Embroidered Flowers Tulle skirt and I’ll be all ready for my April California vacation. LEAD ON, Dear Louis !
Just got mine too. They look lovely. Louis – is buttercream a good color for all complexions? I’m brunette and fair skin. Will it fade me? The loden matches my other – this season – loden pieces and the black was a must have.
Carolyn, the buttercream has a lot of life to it. Everyone that has gotten the buttercream jacket loves the color so no I don’t think it will wash you out. A slight change in makeup colors will also help that anyway.
The satin shirt A374709 and tank A374664 are posted on Q. Got mine! Can’t wait to pair them with my Linea tuxedo jacket and jewelry as well as my Linea plaid ivory blazer. Thank you Mr. D!
Hi Louis,
I have to rave about your jewelry company. Remember the faux tortoise necklace from years ago? It is one of my go-to pieces of jewelry and I love it. After so many years of wear, the gold tone had worn off. I finally got up the nerve to send it to your jewelry company to see if it could be re-plated. My hesitation was because it was so many years old but I decided to take a chance. I just received it back in the mail today – and it is good as new. No really – the tortoise looks polished and the gold is now perfect. What a blessing! I purchased the new tortoise necklace but hated to say goodbye to an old friend. Now I don’t have to. Thank you to you and to your jewelry company for providing such outstanding service. I am amazed, but so happy!
Donna from California
Dear Donna…..thank you so much for telling me your story, and keeping me informed. Yes, I remember the Tortoise pieces well. I have a picture of Jac wearing it…..I am very proud of TCJC, the jewelry company I am so lucky to be a part of. It’s not just because of the beautiful jewelry they allow me to make, they never say no to any of my ideas, but more so about the people who work there……especially the owner. There is an expression that I learned long long ago that has been a mantra for me….”shadow of the leader”. For me it has always meant that the people who are under you or work for you are influenced by the way you are, the way you treat people, your values as a person. A good leader casts a shadow over those under him or her that is welcoming, nurturing and good. It is a way of being and something that all will emulate….The owner of TCJC is all of those things, and your story has again confirmed all that I have believed all of these years we have worked together. I would do anything to support this company and the people who work there. In this day and age where there is so much not to emulate this company truly stands out. I am so pleased you had a wonderful experience.
Fantastic! Fingers crossed!
Good morning, Louis! How about a black pencil skirt in your shantung fabric? It would go with everything!
I have one sketched for Spring 2021 but there’s no guarantee they will select it.
Hi Louis, love your shantung fabric,it is so pretty. And love the pieces that you design using it. Would it be possible to make pull-on pants with this fabric. We need dressy pants at times and this would really be the perfect answer. Thanks so much
Dear Sandra…..I have wanted to do pants in this fabric, but both Elaine, my manufacturer, and my buyer don’t want them. They believe due to the fabric they would be very difficult to fit and there would be high returns.I have to say I do agree with them. The garment women complain the most about fit wise are pants, and these would be a problem from day one.
Please share your safari agent again. I missed it when you first mentioned it.
Thanks, Ruth
Dear Ruth….it’s call “Ultimate African Safaris”. This is the first time I am using them but they came highly recommended by someone who has taken quite a few safaris with them.
First time wearing. The soap worked! Thank you.
YEAH!!!!!!!!This is something my mother used to do with zippers that stuck. She’s rub the bar of soap up and down the teeth and it worked great.
I had a strange thing happen this morning. I was trying to put on my new sapphire leather sweater jacket but couldn’t get the zipper to pull apart at the bottom — I’ve tried several times and it still doesn’t seem to want to work. It seems fine going up and down, but it will not release to let me open it fully. Any suggestions for how to get it open? I have several (4 other) jackets like this and have never had this problem. I’m a huge fan of your line!
Rory….is this the first time this has happened to this jacket after already wearing it? You can try a bar of ivory soap on the teeth, but I’m not sure that will work on the zipper lock?
Luggage limits while traveling in Africa.
https://yellowzebrasafaris.com/us/inspiration/blog/faqs/luggage-limits-when-travelling-to-africa/
Thank you for the excellent recommendation, designista. I went to the Peak Design website and saw several bags that looked great for travel. I also appreciated the longer video on all of the features of the Dufflepack. Now I need to get working on planning my safari.
Louis, I think we need a complete Linea safari collection!
Michelle
Yes Louis, type in peakdesign.com. The travel “Dufflepack” 65L will come up. On the right side of the screen will be photos to click on. The last one is a video. After watching the short video, a screen with 12 videos will appear. The one on the upper left will be of this model for “set-up + tips”. It is 21 minutes long and a little tedious to watch, but gives all of the designer details that are not apparent when just looking at the bag. The packing cubes that they offer are on the heavy side, and I would not recommend those unless you are looking at the camera cubes which are very well protected.
I have to check and see what size bag we are allowed. I’m guessing the plane from camp to camp is quite small.
Louis, your dapper safari look in the school of fish video suits you well, quite dashing! Thank you for sharing your safari agent. I am quite impressed with the site, and it is the most informative of any that I have used. I’ve spent hours over the past week on research and Botswana looks enticing, and perhaps Zimbabwe in 2021. Both the lodges and bush camps look intriguing. I am disappointed that Safari clothing is difficult to find, especially for women. Linea has more to offer. Years ago, the NYC Abercrombie store was a treasure of safari gear displayed amidst old trunks, brass lanterns, compasses and old hunting rifles. It was like a museum; those days seem to be gone, but I’ve wanted to got on safari ever since. Orvis has some things for men including a bush shirt, but yours looks better and more functional with the pockets on both arms. Would you share the manufacturer? My special someone’s birthday is next month, and it would make a nice surprise. With the small plane & Johannesburg soft luggage restrictions, I did find an interesting 65L travel “Dufflepack” on peak design.com. It’s 45L, expanding to 65L for souvenirs, can be cinched down to 22″ length, and weighs 3.9lbs. The backpack shoulder straps fold away into pockets. I have positive past experience with Peak products, so that may be a possibility. Please share your travel tips when the time comes, if you don’t mind. Without your original post, I would not be so far along on this new adventure.
Dear designista….the shirt is from Orvis, but it’s quite old and a bit heavy. I will check them out later in the season. You are so right about Abercrombie. Jac and I loved that store and there are still vests and jackets with all the pockets hanging in the hall closet. I will have to check out what’s in their. When the store went to corporate dressing they lost both of us as customers. Before they were really special. When they made the change they became one of the pack. Do I google “peak design.com” for the luggage? I will need to get something. Mine is all too big, and I don’t plan on bringing much since each camp does laundry!
Hi Louis,
I am patiently waiting for the faux shantung band collar jacket in sapphire. Can you tell me when it will be presented?
Also, is it possible that a sleeveless same color shell will be offered with that jacket?
I love your designs and I have many pieces!
Thank you so much,
Kathy
Dear Kathy…..the Sapphire jacket is due in April. Unfortunately, there are no sapphire shells planned, but it’s food for thought.
