no….I started this blog strictly to communicate directly with my customers…..there is no money involved.
Dear Louis,
I have been so sad to learn that you were going to retire. I have been unable to put into words how I felt. Then your story about Cathy’s visit put me into great shock and disappointment.
I am so grateful to have a closet filled with wonderful Linea things. I have never liked to shop in stores, so The Q has been good for me. I am a retired middle-manager from AT&T so I am comfortable in suits. I don’t wear sweats, and I do dress to go to the grocery store. Thanks for all you have done, and great help with coordinating things. I hope you can find a way to market Whisper Knit, as it is very special.
I did have a great time being a pen-pal with Jac. We talked about recipes, gardening, and the Theatre. I loved her stories, and I agree with others that you should write a book. I really enjoyed Isaac’s book. I loved his stories about his childhood. My favorite reading is biographies as I am a history buff, and find it is a great way to learn about history.
You are truly gifted, talented and blessed. You are so lucky to live in your special private place, with your great collections and gifts. I think it shields you from the world. To visit your affluent town, and be surprised at all the closed shops. It is no surprise to me, as my little blue color town with all its closed shops, is suffering from the liberal run state Governors. People are losing homes, drugs and suicide rates outnumber covid deaths. Kids can’t go to school elderly are dying alone. You are not seeing what liberal leadership is doing to those of us who do not have a private sanctuary. The economy is deliberately being shut down and people are suffering. The president and his personality have nothing to do with what people are dealing with. You seem to be OK, defunding the police, letting inner city kids fail in rotting schools (black kids should be able to choose good schools) and people dying from drugs (rather than forcing them to get help) . Yes, the DC swamp needs cleaning, I’m open for ideas.
I am an active Republican, in an elected position. I’d say part of my success is how great I look in your clothes. People mention my clothe s all the time. So, I can say thank you for my success. That person doing all the name calling is an embarrassment to conservatives
I wish you good health and happiness,
Karen in WA
Karen I have absolutely nothing against Republicans and I agree with many of their issues. There are many in my family who are active Republicans. I have no problem with republicans at all. It is Trump who I have a problem with. He constantly says and does things to divide people, and stir up hatred. I have never seen another President, Republican or Democrat, who behaves like him. Comments like shooting someone on 5th Ave is horrific to me and should be to anyone. I don’t even consider Trump a Republican. To me is has created his own party….a Trumpian.
Louis, The Tibetan Necklace & Earrings that have yet to be posted on Q – I have seen them with Black beads – is this the only option that will be available.
Just getting my final list ready for my last Linea order.
Thank You.
Seka.
Good morning Louis. I was looking at the gauze crepe blazer because it seems like it would be a good weight for spring. Both the loden and dark khaki are available in my size. I went back and looked on your blog, and you paired the dark khaki with dark khaki pants, and then with jeans. For the loden one, you paired it with black mainly. Would loden go with khaki pants or cream pants or would there not be enough of a contrast between loden and khaki or stone colored pants?
Also, I have the crêpe gauze cargo pants on order in khaki and blue. But I had to order two different sizes so I’m not sure which one of them will fit. I am short, so would I be better off not pairing these with the crêpe gauze blazers? I don’t think you designed these two pieces to go together so I wasn’t sure if the styles would mesh.
Dear Andrea the Loden will definitely work with cream, ivory or white for spring summer. With white bottoms first try a white tee just to keep it simple. With the khaki you can do a white, or ivory top and then experiment with colors. Think of the loden as a safari neutral color.
Thank you, Louis. I just ordered the Loden!
The Whisper Knit Tanks are back on the Q with all the colors.
Thanks Seyma. Orders placed. Pamela
Hi Louis. Asked a question on the other page..unfortunately, it may get lost in the nobody wins bickering over there. Could you sell Whisper Knit and /or super ponte ? Maybe then we all benefit beyond your creations ongoing? Thanks.pamela
No Pamela, I can not nor would I do that. It’s something I created.
Of course. Just thinking would be nice for your creation to live on …the Linea name or fabrics. I understand. There will be something similar before we know it. ..some imitation. Thanks for reply
Louis, I just read your note that said, “I pretty much decided that I am retiring.” And then, my husband brought in a pile (first of many to come) of Q bags with Linea inside. I am having a difficult time reconciling that your talent, and those who team with you, will not continue in another venue. I believe you would have continued the Linea line if the Q did not make this decision. There are other venues – think outside the box. Why let the Q decide for you?
My husband is in his mid 70’s and is energized by continuing to do the work is is talented at and loves – only in a different way. Having a purpose keeps him young thinking. He is energized by sharing what he knows with the younger generation. He still has “kick” left in him as well as you do. I am the first to say I do not understand the apparel business and I know that factors into your decision.
Should this be the end of your designing career, I am lucky to make one final big haul of purchases that will be arriving for the next few weeks. And I mean BIG. LOL. I will follow you on this blog to see what you have up your sleeve next.
Dear Jackie….I don’t want to give the impression I am going to curl up in a ball and vegetate…..There are many things I have wanted to do, but Linea has taken all of my time…well too much of it to seriously start something else. I’ve wanted to paint again, and I’m thinking of going back to art school. First things first. I have to clean out my studio in my house and create a clean slate……The so called Fashion business is nothing like it was. It’s a bunch of huge cooperation that control everything, and the IMHO the break down of of what is appropriate for women to wear is shameful. I am sick of casual closes and lounge wear that passes its’ self as clothing. This country needs to take lessons from European countries where women still look good….I’ve done my best over the last 20 years to educate and show what real style and sophistication is……I hear some say how chic this and that is, and I think in what world…..I guess now that I won’t be selling on QVC anymore I don’t have to be so politically correct and say what I really think….it is just my opinion…..I think the immigrants who came to this country, as poor as they were, had more style than many women I see……how’s that for a statement…..LOL
Bravo Louis. Well said, and it is a pleasure to hear you speak your mind without corporate restrictions. For all the reasons why the fashion business is frustrating to you, it is the same for us Linea ladies as well. The Q blogs and your website are full of comments about why loosing you as a designer is so awful. Personally, I do not own jogger pants. They remind me of kids pj’s and I would look ridiculous wearing them in public at my age. It’s not my style. I am bored with the Q’s line of “lay around on the sofa clothes”. For heavens sake, I am an active woman who gets up every day, puts on make up, styles my hair, and dresses for the day.
What REAL designers are left? A few. The new lines coming on board offer me nothing and the prices are insulting for the garment design or fabric.
OK, I could rant on but you get my point. The challenge for the Linea ladies is to find alternatives outside the Q.
And finally, thank you for responding to my message. It brought a smile to my face when you mentioned some of your interests. I say, go for it with gusto!!
Louis…I received your Inset Lace Top (A351465) on Saturday and all I can say is, “Absolutely Beautiful”. Although my usual size is 6, I purchased it in size 8 because with your tank being worn underneath I wanted a little room. The fit is perfect. This has been on my Wish List for some time. I purchased it in sage and in antique rose and immediately went back on line and ordered the perfectly pink. Not only do I plan to wear them with your ponte crop pants and super ponte knit pants but I’m going to wear them with your linen crop pants that I purchased years ago. You are such an amazing designer who knows what looks good on women of all shapes and sizes. I’m retired now but I still love to look nice. Knowing that the quality and style of clothes sold in the stores do not compare to yours, I have gone on quite a buying spree picking up as many pieces for future wear. The wonderful thing is your clothes were never trendy so my pieces 20 years ago can be worn with clothing I purchased today. They’re not the throwaway clothes we see out in the stores and online and I love you for that. Thank you again for being my personal designer and tailor.
Hello Louis, I recently acquired the
Linea by Louis Dell’Olio Gauze Pull-Over Dress-Pale Terracotta- A290988
I know it is a neutral, so I am happy about this, so my question is which necklace & what finish would you recommend with this? I would love your input.
Your recommendation Based on the necklaces that are still available in inventory. Thankyou!
Nikki, Nikki, Nikki…that dress cries out for a necklace and a bracelet too, and there are quite a few that I think will look fabulous……My two favorites are the J852280, the Grecian metal disc necklace and the matching J485276 bracelet both in CHOCOLATE…The Green Patina for a contrast would also look fabulous..J485284, the Gypsy con necklace with the different metal colors will look fantastic on the dress……Other suggestions are the J388731 Fish in the Green Patina. This color looks great on the terracotta……J487227 the liquid necklace in the chocolate, the J487219 the matching earring, and the J487217. Now Nikki the photos of these 3 piece are very bad and don’t show the jewelry well at all, but if you want something a little more delicate and liquid looking these would be fab too……the J479225, Pineapple pendant in the Honey will look fun and not to much. The color is great with the terracotta…..finally the J482462 the chocolate BISTRO chain necklace and earring set is another good option….Many of these are on clearance and the Free Shipping and Handling today is a bonus. Maybe you want to pick up more than one? Everything I suggested will also go with many many things you already own…..let me know your choice. Unfortunately many of the coordinating earrings are sold out, but a simple hoop or no earring will always work.
Thankyou for your recommendations! I got the J852280 in green & somehow managed to get the matching earrings. I had not bought any of the jewelry with the green patina finish and had been looking at your blog to see how you styled it. I’m glad you recommended it, so it’s coming to me! I have the coin piece already and love it.
Louis, I spent part of today organizing my clothes, you have no idea how much fun I had trying on some of the beautiful linea pieces and going down memory lane. I looked up the pieces on your blog to see how you styled them just to refresh my memory & get new ideas. Who knew organizing clothes can be so much fun. Thankyou so much for all your creations.
Nikki….are you sure that’s the right number? It says sold out
Sorry it’s
J485280
Linea by Louis Dell’Olio 72″ Grecian Metal DiscNecklace in green patina , I’ am sure I’ll mess up the formal name spelling, and I was able to get the matching clip earrings – the customer service rep said it was the last one. Let’s see if it arrives!
That was luck!
Hi Louis,
I just had to share with you that a few days before Christmas I received several QVC packages. My husband was a little shocked when he saw the huge stack. LOL. I was anxious to open them but was so busy that I waited until yesterday when he went for a motorcycle ride. I opened all my packages and had a little fashion show for the dogs.
I was blown away at two items in particular. The black suede pants fit like they were custom made for me. Now that I know I prefer the regular length over the petite (I’m 5’5”), I can order the remaining colors. I was also wowed by the black suede skirt. I have already ordered the navy and would’ve gotten the magenta too.
I adore the ruffled blouse and tank. Haven’t bought the skirt yet…
The espresso/ivory double layer pants with the matching ivory top – so chic.
The black lace topper is gorgeous. I think I need the white now.
The loden suede trench – had the vino, didn’t need another, but have always wanted the loden too. I’m thinking I need the loden suede pants now.
Those are only a few of the many items I received. Several had been on my wish list for awhile. They were Christmas gifts to myself. It was very bittersweet trying everything on and playing, as you tell us to do. I felt so fabulous in these beautifully designed pieces, and yet I was so sad that there will be no more.
I’m really having a hard time accepting what has happened. You brought us exceptional fashions that I wouldn’t have been able to afford otherwise. You’ve made me feel like a million bucks. I really hope that perhaps ShopHQ (or whatever that other shopping channel is) picks you up. Or that you are able to continue designing somehow. You are too talented not to…
Dear Melissa…..all I can say is WOW….that’s some haul. You can always tell your husband that the line on QVC is ending and this is your last hurrah with Linea!!!!LOL….I have pretty much decided that I am retiring. Since Elaine, my manufacturer who has been responsible for making the Linea apparel all of these years, has also decided to retire in 2021 [she’s actually almost done with the manufacturing of her other clients]. I would never consider working with another who couldn’t possible make clothes like Elaine. I know most of the manufacturers for the QVC lines and I can tell you no other consistently produces the quality and the tailoring Elaine does with the very few high quality factories we have used and cultivated over these past 20 years. It has been very difficult for her to keep prices where QVC wants them, and she just doesn’t want to compromise her standards…..better to call it a day with her head held high!
I did end up telling my husband this was my last hurrah. ☹️ He understood.
I am sorry to hear you are going to be retiring, but I completely understand. And yes, better to end things on a high note.
I’ll be forever grateful for all the Linea I do have. I will continue to visit your blog as long as you keep posting. Don’t forget to include pics of your girls occasionally!
I wish you the very best in whatever you do.
Thank you again for making my life richer.
Don’t worry Melissa….I plan to keep my blog going for a long time.
Hi Louis,
I am relieved you are keeping the blog going! And I know you have said that you believe that QVC will not change its mind, but I have decided they are going to hear from me on a weekly basis. It might not change anything, but at least they will know how I feel:) Today I argued that they should at least keep the Linea jewelry line.
For some reason the new Sterling Silver pieces are not included in the Free Shipping event. All the other Linea Jewellery items – including the ‘Wonderful’ pieces that are still available are included.
This has now been corrected.
Did we know we were getting a black Fez group? Do we know the color of the metal? No pics, of course.
Yes, the Fez, the Triple strand and the set of 3 bead bracelets are all coming in black with gold metal.
A Christmas Day Surprise! The New Sterling Silver Jewellery Items have just been Posted on the Q – the Items are engraved…”You are the STAR of your own life.”

Designista, first I have to tell you I have enjoyed reading your reviews on the Q. You once wrote on this blog that an item you had
purchased would be great at the Greek or Bowl. I am assuming you live in LA., so do I. I know from your reviews that you have your trousers altered. I also need that service, please share. Thanks, Seyma
They are much closer than the photos….I have even shown them together
Ordered, thanks!
Seyma, thank you for your kind words, but I’m in South Florida. I think Carol may be the one to help you, as I believe she is in the LA area. I don’t recall her having to have things altered though. Happy Holidays & Merry Christmas!
I do live in the LA area, but everything Louis makes fits me perfectly. I’m on the south end of LA County, in Long Beach. I do know a good seamstress in my area if you’re nearby.
Thank you Carol for responding. However, I live across from the Hollywood Sign.
Louis, I have the faux suede loden green pants. Would like to buy the trench, same color but, it looks very bright green on the TV. How close are these two items?
Dear Louis,
I received the pretty Carina necklace in blue. I have many of your clothing items in navy and am happy to have a navy necklace. Please make a recommendation for an earring to wear.
Also, are the spacer beads between the pearls black or very dark navy?
I’m glad now that I ordered anything I possibly thought I would want along with putting things aside for my daughter in law. I ordered them right away but was able to go back and get credits for the new sale prices. It was actually very sad ordering them knowing that there would be no more :-(.
Hi. Have a question for Louis CNN or ladies…went into Q to order more of the wk tanks ,ie, pine and another black and none are available. Did they sell out CV on clearance or something? They were there Monday….distressed.
Don’t know where CNN came from lol!
Louis
I saw your items for sale on amazon. Is this something that will also have new designs maybe in the future?
No Nikki, I know nothing about Amazon.
Pamela, they have sold out.
Dear Pamela….That is what will be happening with all of the apparel….here today gone tomorrow. It may look like every color is avail in every size, but they have all sold down so there may only be 5 left in a color, and all of a sudden they are gone. QVC will keep reducing the prices until it is complete sold out or if there are so few of the item they will get rid of it just to remove it from the warehouse. If you wait too long it too will be gone.
Ugh. Thank you for replying. Just sick about this. On a happy note. Am a healthcare worker and was able to be vaccinated yesterday…so far so good. Wishing everyone Happy Holidays!
That’s great news Pamela! I’m too young to get my shot!!! LOL
Louis,
Thank you for 30+ years of inspiring fashions. I first fell in love with your Anne Klein designs as a young woman entering the business world in the 1980’s – your clothing gave me confidence as I navigated the business world. One of my early favorites was a caramel colored linen double breasted blazer with white linen pants (I had the white linen skirt too) that I wore with a white handkerchief linen blouse in the warmer months or with a turtleneck sweater in cooler weather. I still remember how stylish I felt! I was so excited when I discovered you on QVC – my only disappointment was that I didn’t find you sooner. You were the primary reason for my shopping on QVC and it’s my selfish hope that you will continue to design.
In light of your leaving QVC, I have changed my shopping list. I used to think “oh, I don’t need that Linea outfit now, I will buy it later when I need it” or “Louis will have more styles next time” to “I need that (fill in the blank) because Louis won’t be presenting any more Linea outfits”! I have purchased almost every jacket (even though I work from home), both sequin outfits, the various whisper knits, everything faux suede (in multiples for the skirts and pants)! I know your clothing designs will remain fashionable for many years.
Thank you for providing me with a beautiful wardrobe for so many years and thank you for the confidence your designs have given me throughout my career.
Constance (aka Merrylass)
Louis,
Any chance for a detailed sneak peek any time soon of the Tibetan necklace? Saw it on Jacqui last night. Looks so interesting! I missed out on the arte moderne pendant in plum and the long couture necklace. Trying not to miss out on your last pieces.
It was so sad watching the latest Linea presentations. As Jennifer described all the gorgeous details of every item, I thought how lucky I’ve been to be able to get such beautiful clothes and jewelry at a reasonable price. I’m not one who spends a lot on designer brands for the most part, but my mom taught me to appreciate quality and craftsmanship. Way back when, my 6’2” dad would get suits and dress shirts custom made by tailors that traveled from Hong Kong.
I’ve bought so much Linea this season, and now with all the clearance prices I couldn’t pass up getting some items on my wishlist. You convinced me way back one to just get one suede trench since I’m in FL. I chose the vino. But when they went on sale, I grabbed the loden while I could. Only color left in my size or I would’ve grabbed the black too. I know I’ll never be able to get something like this again.
Also, I was going to pass up the navy TCF blazer because of all the other jackets and blazers I’ve bought, but knowing this was my last chance, I bought the navy and I’m so glad I did. It was delivered yesterday and I tried it on. Wow.
What are we Linea ladies going to do without you??
Louis, I have been a fan from the beginning. Whisper knit is my favorite, but I have really splurged this year—blouses, blazers, skirts, tanks, cardigans—I love it all! Your video showing us what everything goes with really helped me to make any more outfits, and of course to buy more of your wonderful fashions. I can’t believe QVC will no longer have your fashions, I wonder if I will even find a need to watch QVC anymore. I hope that you will find a place where you can sell your fashions because I will follow you anywhere. Have a very happy holiday and take care
Can you see the alignment of Jupiter and Saturn at sunset where you are? It won’t happen again for another 800 years. They think this alignment was what people called the Christmas Star. It’s overcast where I am….so disappointed.
I watched the Sound of Music, again, when it aired tonight. I am always impressed with the Baroness’s clothing. With a few minor alterations, she could wear any of those outfits today and look just as glamorous. Louis, I know that you loved the clothes in Bob Mackie’s show. I’m curious, what are your favorite movies or plays from a clothing/costume design perspective? Michelle
Michele I have to give that some thought, but off the top of my head two movies come up….”Gone With the Wind” Scarlet’s clothes were magnificent and Walter Plunkett was one of the best, and “Seven Sinners” with Marlena Dictrick, [spelled her name horribly]. Adrian did the magnificent costumes for her. Of course any Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers movie too.
GWTW is magnificent. I haven’t seen Seven Sinners, yet. It’s going on my viewing list. Thanks for the recommendation.
Seven Sinners is a 1940 Marlene Dietrick movie with a very young John Wayne. She looks incredible!!!!BTW I was wrong Irene was the costume designer. They look more Adrian to me than Irene.
I saw a great show on TCM about Ginger Rogers and they interviewed her about her gowns. She was instrumental in the designs and told some funny stories about “failures” that had to be modified. She had one beaded gown with bell sleeves that was so heavy she could barely dance in it. The sleeve actually hit Astaire in the face in the final take. They slowed down the film to show it. He was a fanatic about no cuts/edits in the dance scenes. I love their films.
Michelle…..I caught the tail end of it…..Jac didn’t like “soapy musicals”. That’s the one area we disagreed. She’d laugh if she saw me watching “Seven Brides for Seven Brothers”. One of the soapiest of them all!
I’ve decided that “soapy musicals” are my version of cabin socks in 2020! I want as many as I can get…Lol! I’ve got White Christmas and Holiday Inn are next up.
Louis…I’m just now catching up on the news about QVC discontinuing your fashion line. Other than a few small items, your clothing line was the only reason I watched and purchased. My clothing relationship with you goes back a long time when I purchased all of my Ann Klein suits and casual wear. I thought those days of quality clothes were far behind me and then I discovered you on QVC. I thought ‘hallelujah!’ quality is back. I always looked forward to all of your shows. It was like a mini fashion show every time. You taught me how to wear and accessorize your clothes so I could look my best. Believe me when I say that every time I wore one of your outfits I received compliments from men and women. I learned so much about fashion, fabrics and special stitches from you. I will miss seeing your latest fashion creations. After reading the news I immediately went on the QVC site and repurchased a number of items that I love but also some that were on my wish list. I figured that I better get them now while the colors that I want are still available. Louis…. You are the best. I’m glad that you’ll still keep your blog up because you’re like an old friend to me. Many blessings to you and your family in the coming year.
Louis………you mentioned you were watching a lot on Amazon Prime and Nerflix. I’m pretty sure you have seen these on Amazon Prime but in case you haven’t, you might enjoy the following documentaries:
The Times of Bill Cunningham……….his photo of you in the snow is one of my favorites!
Ultra Suede…………..Halston………interesting
Diana Vreeland…The Eye Has to Travel…………..interesting of you are a fan
Joan Rivers: A Piece of Work……….fascinating, especially the opening………..her apartment was unbelieveable. I had the opportunity of meeting her twice……..when she was shopping for fine french furniture in the gallery I worked for. She was nothing like Joan Rivers, performer in her personal life. So tiny, beautifully dressed, soft spoken, lovely manners, very kind. oxoxox Cat
Thank you Cat….I’ve watched them all and some twice!
Dear Louis,
Could you please refresh my memory on the difference – if there is one – between your colors Tobacco and Caramel??
rae
Hi rae…..the colors are different. The tobacco is more golden, and works perfectly with the tobacco WK tank and the Desert stripe kimono….the caramel has more rust or red in it compared to the tobacco and was a major fall color with many styles in caramel from blazers, leather jackets, the trench, ponte pants and many W Knits.
Thank you so much!! That helps tremendously. I’m loving your ‘Reminiscing’ posts and look forward to more! So far, I’m batting 1000…the short sleeve cardigan and lace dress are both in my closet. Love them.
Hi Louis, I have a closet full of your wonderful clothes & jewelry, that I have collected over the years and would love for you to look back and suggest attractive combinations on your daily blog.
You are missed already!!! I love to hear your stories and your styling ideas.
We all hope you are happy with your new opportunities. Whenever a door closes, God opens a window. Happy thoughts, Merry Christmas and Happy 2021!!!
rae,
I’ve wondered something since I first read one of your post. Is this your real name, or a reference to Backstreet?
Sarah
Dear Louis,
I was thinking about all of the wonderful clothing and jewelry that I have bought from your line, and then I remembered how “Godfreak” or “Godfreako” would post pictures of your clothing on the forum before it was available. At the time, there was a lot of conversation about who it was, and so I was wondering if you ever found out who it was? It was so mysterious, but I loved seeing the pictures ahead of when the items were posted for sale–it was like having a secret elf working behind the scenes for us 🙂
No Cindy…..I have no idea who that was. Maybe now that Linea is coming to an end they will reveal themselves…..a little like “deep throat”….LOL
I know who Godfreako was–I think! For some reason he reached out and emailed me (back when we could post our emails in our profile info). He was a guy—he told me his name was John Miller—but who knows if he was telling the truth. I tried to “pump” him for more info about who he was but he was not forthcoming. He also gave us info on Judith Ripka pieces. I’ll have to see if I still have his emails. Sheila
OK, I just checked my emails from Godfreako—and they stopped in the Fall of 2014. Sheila
Dear Louis,
I always have loved the wonderful sketches you created when you were introducing new pieces on the air. Is there any chance you might put them together in a book with perhaps some advice on how to to put together a total “look”? I would love that. Even a book of just the drawings would be great. Maybe you could self-publish it and sell it through this site. Just a thought. I know Linea Ladies (and anyone with an eye for fashion) would love it. Sign me up for the first copy!
Of course, I would also love a book with all those amazing stories you have shared over the years telling us how you got into the business, your work life, people you have known, where inspiration for various pieces came from, and such touching stories about dear Jac and your life together.
A Great Idea!
Dear Louis, I couldn’t agree more about a book; past fashions, drawings of those, drawings of your imaginings for future clothing, stories from you and Jac (how we loved when she’d tell us stories), recipes, some of your travel and how it influenced your fashions and life … it would be so wonderful. I’m pretty handy with a computer; I’d VOLUNTEER type, format and put your words on “paper” etc. … it would be a joy; we’d all love to buy such a book.
LDO, I’m trying to find the item number for my records of a suede color block jacket in red/wine/port with gold leather trim. Think marching band leader or Michael Jackson. It was about 2009 or before. It is similar to A92301 color block suede jacket in Spruce Green from 2009. I did something stupid and deleted the information as I was going to donate it. before I knew of the situation with QVC. There is no tag with item number in the jacket, and I don’t see anywhere that a tag may have been cut out. The Linea label is properly sewn in. Thank you for any help you can offer.
Louis
With a bunch of weddings postponed by Corona Virus, I have a couple of summer weddings. I intend to wear your Linea vivid blue embroidered skirt with your Linea A35386 black moss crepe cap sleeve scoop neck top. Do you think your new Linea J492445 blue Carina necklace would look good with the outfit? So happy I purchased all three Linea embroidered skirts – such show! stoppers
Dear Joanne….you left out a number for the top, but I think I know which one it is. I think the Carina would look very good, but in the summer you may want a little more sparkle so I would recommend the glass faceted bead swag necklace in the gunmetal and midnight blue beads….it also come with an earring
Louis I was just looking over your past pictures, postings and ladies replies. I randomly selected the October 2012 posting and I was stunned to see my name and posting stating that I had just found you and how much I loved your clothes. I asked a question about size (I’m slimmer now and 2 inches shorter than in the post!). Oh Louis how I will miss you. I’m glad I found you when I did. You have brought such elegance and beauty into our lives.Thank you for agreeing to keep this communication going so that we may stay in touch.
Barbara McShane aka 1jac.
Oh Louis, you will be missed terribly! How are you feeling about this new development in your life? You know the saying “when God closes a door He opens a window”. I love Goldie’s idea of a book!
I want to ask you something about the Anniversary earrings. I have both the silver & gold & absolutely love them! If something happens like a post breaks off would I send it to your same jewelry place for repair? They are my favorite earrings & I worry about something happening where I wouldn’t be able to wear them. I am sorry to have to ask for the address again which I know you have given us a thousand times! But I never wrote it down, sorry!
THANK YOU for sharing your creative genius & love with us all these years!!
Dear Julie, I’m sorry to say the jewelry company may close also. I was the heart of their business. They make jewelry for 5 other brands on QVC, but none of it looks or compares to mine. These vendors were more concerned with keeping low prices than design. Anyway their businesses added up still didn’t come close to mine, so they may have to close. They will not be taking repairs anymore after 2020.
Such awful news Louis, for so many reasons! I’m thankful I have so many of your jewelry pieces. I take very good care of it all & will be sure to be extra careful. SO sad about how many lives & businesses are affected by all this, a dominos effect!
Oops, forgot to put my name in above!
Dear Louis,
We Linea Ladies are beginning to get more clarity about what has happened with the Linea line because of your candid postings. Thank you for helping us “see the light” and understand we must accept that the QVC chapter is now finished. Fingers crossed (and if you desire it), another opportunity will open up once more for your talent. Because such a new venture takes time, I was wondering if you might use this period of relative quiet that will soon be yours to write the book that so many of us have been asking for. Oh, to have all your wonderful experiences and adventures in one volume! I still can’t forget your Lauren Bacall story when you were a young lad at Norell’s. You have so many stories, so many adventures, so much fashion knowledge to share with the world. And do NOT worry about your spelling, as you sometimes do. All you require is a good editor. You are creative and are a truly talented writer. Your stories flow from you.
Louis………….you have not only added to my closet but you have added to my life and have become part of it as a warm, kind, caring friend. Your talent is not, just, design but in being a truly warm, kind, gracious human being. You allowed all of us to enter your world………..you and Jac with your stories, receipes, vacations and kindness. We shared your joy and the highs and our hearts broke when the sorrow appeared. You encouraged us to take a leap and come out of our comfort zone with new ideas and designs.
You, generously, gave us something we could never, ever purchase on QVC…………you gave us YOU. Priceless! You are the present under my tree this year. So, my friend, we will continue having you in our lives for as long as you want us. oxoxoxo Cat
Louis,
The beautiful Carrina necklace is finally posted. The blue looks gorgeous!! Do you think the champagne one goes with your lace inset tops or do you prefer the chantilly necklace? I also have the tan/latte glitterati that I thought would go with the lace tops…
One more thing – the navy moss crepe tank. How well does it go with the navy TCF blazer and the red tartan plaid?
Thanks so much,
Melissa
Hi Louis,
I have another question: will there be matching earrings to the Carina necklace?
Thanks in advance,
Chris
No Chris….we didn’t do matching earrings
Louis, You remain MR. TOP RATED! I posted an analysis on the Linea forum, and even with few reviews compared to the forum posts you are at 17.2% of inventory. The closest is at 9.6%. HAPPY WEDNESDAY! Some of the numbers are amazing.
Louis, I was scrolling the Q calendar on TV and there is an hour listing on December 21 at 11:00 PM Linea by Louis Dell’Olio Clearance. I verified the date on in the Q web site calendar and it is listed for 11:00PM. So, three hour difference for ET would be 8:00ET. Switched over to the ET calendar and the listing for the eight o’clock hour is general clearance. I don’t recall, in the last three years, an hour length Linea show in prime time.
Dear Seyma, I will have to check this out as I know nothing about it. Jennifer told me she just got a show request for the 22nd at 2:00am.
Dear Seyma……,I checked with Jennifer. The only Linea show on the calendar is for Dec. 22nd at 2:00am
Dear Louis, no one will ever accuse me of knowing how to sort out time. 2:00AM 12/22 would be 11:00PM 12/21.
Hi Louis. Where should the faux suede pants hit? Should they hit the very top of the shoe or are they designed to be more cropped? I purchased a petite, but I am wondering if they are too short. It is getting difficult to tell how things are supposed to look from QVC’s photos and the models used in many of the photos now.
Andrea…there isn’t really any one correct length. Anywhere from the top of the shoe without a break to the low part ankle would all be good..
hi Louis
It is a dreary day here in South Louisiana, and I need some cheering up. When do you think you will post your Carina and other new jewelry sneak peeks?
Sarah
Dear Sarah…..I have been holding off on posting any of the new jewelry pieces because I have no idea when QVC will get around to posting them!!! The chain “Mask Holder” came in after the jewelry and got posted first. I didn’t want my posts to be anti-climatic, but I will post soon regardless of what QVC does…..The Carina has been sitting in the TCJC warehouse since early Nov. waiting for QVC to post the pictures so orders could be placed and sent to TCJC to ship. It is all very frustrating but I guess Linea is not a priority anymore.
Thanks Louis,
I purchased the navy polo and blazer as you advised and I wanted to get the navy carina to go with it.
I’ll put on my navy sequin top this evening to cheer me tonight. I’m so grateful that you have encouraged me to purchase certain items.
Sarah
I am also looking forward to the Carina necklace in both the navy and cream. I bought the alabaster polo WK sweater and feel that the cream Carina is the perfect match to that. I will also be nice to have a navy necklace to wear with all my Linea navy.
My dear husband said that there is no Linea budget for me this month as it is unlimited. He is a practical man and doesn’t quite understand my love for more Linea clothes when I have a closetful, but he knows how important you and Linea are to me and didn’t want me to miss out on anything. Everyone in my house knows who Louis is!
I would dearly love to see you and your house decorated for the holidays, if you feel like giving us a tour. Your stories are always wonderful to hear. I got out all the ingredients for our annual Chocolate Factory and we will start with making turtles tomorrow. I made my first fruitcake last week (my grandfather came from Holland and was a baker so I grew up on good fruitcake.) and my husband actually loved it! I was nervous about it, but I do think it is good. Love and hugs to you this evening!
Louis that is just “cruel” of QVC! Already with the horrible shipping this year they have now made it about impossible to get the CARINA necklace by Christmas. Then what? How long will they hold these last jewelery pieces in limbo? Totally understand this is out of your control. Never mentioned to you here but my 2nd try to get the boucle v neck jacket – someone stole it en route. A destroyed box made it to Frenchville, Post office in Maine completely empty. All they could do was “notify the vendor”. I had to phone QVC and ask for the refund. I gave up on the jacket. It sat 10 days without moving in a warehouse somewhere, then took days, of slow movement, then it got burgaled somewhere maybe in one of the Massachusetts transfer points. Then I waited for weeks for an item that made it at least to Maine but then got sent back down to Massachusetts!!! I feel like I am living in a Kafka novel. I am pretty sick of the QVC runaround. Now they are holding your latest jewelery pieces in limbo. Sorry. Lot of worn-down-from-Covid-lockdowns emotion showing here and I do apologize for that. QVC has poked me in the eye one too many times and yanking the rug out from under the Linea Ladies is kind of the last straw. I really hope that I can at least wave good bye to QVC in my rearview WEARING that CARINA necklace! Prayers for you well being. Nancy J
LOUIS– I just posted this comment in the Linea forum on QVC and am re-posting it here, in case their moderators delete it, as they often did in oLinea: A Suggested Action Plan
The decision by QVC to kill the Linea line of clothing and jewelry is both short-sighted, in terms of the Q’s parent company’s avowed goals, and an insult to the loyal Linea customers who have supported this line for 20 years—despite limited air time on QVC1 and the now departing QVC2 channel– and would continue to do so well into the future. Voicing our outrage on this forum—which the Q will no doubt kill very soon as existing stock sells out—or in “feedback” online comment forms on the QVC website are well and good but do not get our views directly before the decision-makers.
Some talking points for direct letters and phone calls to appropriate executives (listed below):
We know that QVC has shifted toward company-owned “brands” that might feature a “face” of designers who in reality have little to do with the production, quality assurance and actual design work, unlike Louis Del’Ollio’s Coty award-winning and fashion Hall of Fame quality design work and overseeing production that he has continued for QVC. We also know that QVC is increasingly selling leisure wear–so why did they kill off the Linea Leisure sub-brand a while back? There are still many women who want wardrobe-building clothing for professional jobs or those who want a “CURATED” fashion look of mix and match clothing that will work well in their lifestyles without having to search high and low for pieces to “go together.”
QVC has, in recent years, restructured and re-named its divisions but it is still owned by Liberty Media, of Colorado. The online/TV shopping channels of QVC and HSN are now part of what is called “Qurate Retail Group” which also includes brands they have bought: Zulily, Ballard Designs, Grandin Road, Frontgate, and Garnet Hill. (IF you shop from any of those brands, you might want to mention that fact in any communications with QVC about the Linea situation.)
The Qurate name is related to the concept of “CURATING” products for their customers: their mission statement says their goal is to “provide customers with curated collections of unique products, made personal by the power of storytelling.” The goal is also to “curate experiences [and] conversations… for millions of discerning shoppers.” Clearly, killing the Linea line is a violation of that mission statement. Linea is the only fashion brand at QVC that is truly “curated” by a world-renowned fashion designer who also actually listens to his customers and asks for their input on design features, colors, etc.
While we want a full restoration of the Linea line at QVC, at the very LEAST we demand continuation of the Linea jewelry line. QVC has only ONCE done a full Linea jewelry show on TV and the jewelry has been sold online only with ‘word of mouth’ among regular Linea customers who search for these collections on the QVC website. Let us not forget that the creation of the Linea jewelry line was accomplished only as part of the settlement of the previous attempt to kill the Linea fashion line. We worked too hard for that to let the jewelry line die now—especially since it would require no air time or anything else but online order-taking and shipping, for which the Q collects hefty fees from customers.
Key People to Contact:
The mailing address for QVC executives is Qurate Retail Group, 1200 Wilson Drive, West Chester, PA 19380. The corporate phone number is (484) 701-1000. You can ask to be connected to the offices of the following people:
–Mike George, President and CEO of Qurate Retail Group. This is the guy we dealt with before when his underlings tried to kill the Linea line at QVC. In the past, I received callbacks from his staff and they listened to a detailed discussion of the issues, and my plan to stop all QVC shopping if Linea departed. He was due to retire this year but last month announced he would be staying on for another year.
–Leslie Ferraro, President of QxH, which is a corporate subgroup of Qurate Retail Group. This is the entity that controls QVC and HSN shopping sites, and therefore she is a KEY contact to express our concerns. She hasn’t been in the job as head of QxH for very long.
Another key contact point is with Liberty Media in Colorado: Courtnee Chun, chief portfolio officer, and the principal contact person for investors in the publicly-traded entities in the Liberty portfolio. Her Phone number is (720) 875-5420.
Please be polite, but FIRM, in any contacts. That was our mantra the last time we fought this fight.
ur past campaign to save the Linea line. At the VERY LEAST, the Q must save your jewelry line, since they only ever did ONE tv show for your jewelry and it was sold online, so their excuse that they don’t have ‘room’ in the QVC1 TV lineup is not applicable to the jewelry. Here’s the post:
to me, the jewelry and the clothes go together? I agree that they don’t showcase the jewelry enough, it barely gets mentioned on air. It’s like, “the jewelry is designed by Louis also, you can find it online.” But, I would think that you would have to have the clothes to sell the jewelry. He designs them to go together… In my opinion…. The only full show I ever watch is Linea. period.
Just letting you know that I posted a letter to the CEO. I also contacted QVC through email. I hope it will do some good. Thanks for your information.
Dear Louis: Have told QVC what I think, as though they care. But wanted to post this so I don’t forget to do so. I am begging you to please keep all of your archived photos and your great descriptions and advice, available for us going forward. I never tire of studying all of your photographs of all vintage Linea. If you ever decide to do a catalogue reasone – I’m sure I spelled that wrong, but I am still in tears coming here- though my favorite place to be . But if you ever decide to do one of those, please let us know. I can’t let any of your videos go so it might need to be a Digital homage to all of your glorious designs. I wonder if everything here could be put onto a dvd or something like that. Maybe even a boxed set. I would buy one if need be. I am grateful it is all here for us, free of charge, at Chez Louis though. Just looking for reassurance not to lose any of these wonderful posts and pictures. I am already feeling robbed by random-seeming QVC corporate decisions. I almost had heart failure when you recently had problems with the website for fear of losing all of your archived photos and written words here. Now all are even more precious to me! Sending love and prayers, Nancy J
Louis, I just received my Navy moss crepe ruffled cardigan, navy faux suede pants (in my Covid size and a smaller size) and Black ruffled ensemble. Awaiting the tanks. Although I typically purchase very “tailored” items, I love the way these ruffled items make me feel – both feminine and GIRLY but still ME. If these are to be my last new Linea items, you concluded with a bang! Last night I ordered duplicates of all my favorite items still available on QVC in both my current size and in a smaller size. My husband always called you “my guy”. He would say, “Don’t you look nice today. Are you wearing “your guy”? He would love these new ruffled items as much as I do. Thank you for making me feel pretty.
Dear Donna…..so happy to hear you stepped out of the box and ordered the ruffle pieces. The fact that you “feel” good in them is all I can ask for. I don’t know if you watched my “Tribute” video for Jac’s third anniversary, but bot Kate [in navy], and Chantal [in black], are wearing the complete ruffle outfits. Of course they hadn’t seen them….and they LOVED them. I hope your husband approves of what “your guy” selected for you this time around since they are the last Linea pieces I will design…………enjoy and Happy Holidays………………much Love, Louis
Louis,
I did watch the beautiful Tribute video for Jac (through tears) and noticed that Kate and Chantal were wearing the new pieces and looking amazing as always. Sadly, my husband now lives in a memory care facility because of his Alzheimer’s, but he would very much approve of the last pieces “my guy” designed for me. May your holidays be filled with warmth and cheer!
Love, Donna
Dear Donna….that is very sad news about “your guy”. Stay strong and have the courage you will need to see this through. My prayers are with you both.
I have read all the responses of the Linea Ladies to your news that there will be no more Linea after December 2020. I have been mulling over what I would like to say. I agree with all and can’t really add anything different, except that it makes me very sad. I am glad that you will continue to talk to us. I would miss that dearly, as I come to your site and read your posts at least daily. The majority of the clothes I buy are Linea from QVC. So they are losing my revenue, which is a LOT, and that of the other ladies… Their loss… We have all lost so much in this year 2020.
Louis, I recorded both Wrap It Up Shows (morning show with Leah Williams), no Linea. Do you have an update when they will be presented?
Dear Seyma….the ruffle cardigan was on Sat. morning with Leah Williams. you can see the video of it if you go to the Linea site on QVC and click on the ruffle jacket . The video on the model Michelle is attached. The blazer with the TN and faux suede pant is on tonight. The show starts at 7pm with Amy…..not sure what exact time the blazer will be on, but it’s within the first half hour. My guess at he beginning or near to it.
DEAR Louis – Your news has distressed me also after wearing and looking forward to buying/wearing your terrific designs for many years. My one consolation is having closets full of Linea!
I’m in agreement with other fans that this will end my shopping with QVC.
Sending you many wishes for a healthy, safe and peaceful 2021.
To Nancy in TN mouintains from Nancy (AKA The Owl) in Frenchville, Maine.
I too am in agreement with you and other fans that this will end my shopping with QVC.:/ So Sad!
Louis, I am deeply saddened by the news about Linea being cancelled from the Q line up. You have elevated the Q’s brand and my brand for 20 years. I am so thankful to have enjoyed so many lovely items from your brand. I have many wonderful memories that I will cherish in years to come! I am also thankful for your care and friendship in this community. Health and blessings to you in the new year.
Am I right in thinking that you said there is more jewelry coming that the Q has not posted yet? I don’t want to miss it if there is and I’m not doing any other QVC shopping.
Dear Carol….you are correct….there are a few new pieces coming, both “fashion” jewelry and Sterling and Gold clad, and it’s all beautiful! These will be the last Linea jewelry pieces so I hope you like them.
I already ordered the Luxe Link necklace as soon as it was posted. Worth it’s weight in gold as they say. A forever piece.
All I can write right now is No! I can’t believe this. I am in mourning. 2020 has not been a good year and now it is ending with this DREADFUL news. I am in denial and I’m angry with QVC.
I see Jane wearing that beautiful pink blazer right now on air with Beekman
Louis,
We just saw the Moss Crepe skirt set on Leah’s AM style show this morning. It has a very romantic look and feel. And the jacket and tank will be the perfect
counter to the SUEDE pant! Gorgeous!!! Do you think
this boot will go with the skirt set or, too much A386523? Whenever you get a chance is fine.
Louis,
I just realized that the crepe moss pieces that were inspired by Jac were aired today for the first time- the same day she passed away 3 years ago. How is that for a coincidence! Wow!
I received both the navy and the black skirts and jackets – love them & ordered the tanks!
Hugs
Nikki
Louis, I just finished reading your post. Now, I really don’t have a sure thing plsce to shop for my clothes, so much admired by my friends. This also ends my relationship with QVC. For several years now, yours were the only shows I watched and this seals the deal. Thanks so much for being MY Designer.
Louis,
I am thinking of Jac today and keeping both of you in my prayers. God bless her soul. I do believe that she is with you like you mentioned.
I am really sad about the end of the Linea line at qvc. You have been “my designer” for so many years, through all the ups and downs in life, I have worn Linea with confidence. I have the pieces that are in silk and still look as relevant today as when you first debuted them. My closets are filled with your clothes and it is an amazing collection of beautiful garments. Thankyou !!
I am hoping that you will find a venue to keep creating and supplying your beautiful clothes with so many different opportunities available through the internet. We don’t need QVC, but we do need you to create. I hope your NEXT is rewarding and full filling. I am a strong believer that GOD has a plan and it will work out.
Take care.
Louis
are we still going to get CARINA Pearl necklace and the new “MOBILE” Pendant and Earring in the Russian Gold? I do hope so…
Sarah
Dear Louis
Thinking of you today – I will wear one of my Jac’s garden blouses in tribute to her today.
Big hug to you and pet to your girls,
Sarah
Louis– I am devastated by the decision to kill your line. I am willing to FIGHT as I and many others did the last time and we won then. Do you want us to FIGHT for you again or are you at a point in life where you are ready to accept it and move on with personal interests? You certainly deserve a break from all your hard work for us over 20 years at Q.
The Q will probably shut down our Linea forum on their website and we will lose a way for all the Ladies to comunicate. Many of them do not use Facebook so perhaps a section of your website could be set up for a forum that did not require your involvement.
I am heartbroken but trying to think of next steps.– Blinddogs (Nancy)
Blinddogs…….my feelings exactly. I posted on the forum to use “feedback” to QVC to let them know how we feel about their decision even if Louis does not want us to fight for him. If he does want us to fight, I will follow your directions since it was so successful last time. I join in the fight with you as did many others at the time. This is heartbreaking as well as emotional. Somersault (Cat)
Nancy and Cat, We we are all feeling a profound loss. Of course we are willing to once again fight, if that is what Louis wants us to do. Many of us from the first fight years ago are still around and will do whatever we can. I already expressed my feelings about this to QVC and revived an old thread from yesteryear to identify to QVC who we women are. Along with Linea, many are also cutting all ties with QVC and will no longer be buying high ticket items from them.
I am with you. Who exactly at QVC do I complain to?
Nancy, Please see my reply to Cat. Of course we will be wiling to fight if that is what Louis wants us to do.
I’m crying too hard to tell you how you will be missed. You have been my beloved designer for the past three years. More later, I can’t see the screen through my tears.
A unique new Linea item has been posted on the Q…..
https://www.qvc.com/Linea-by-Louis-DellOlio-3-in-1-Glasses-%26-FaceCovering-Chain.product.J492423.html
Dear Louis, I am truly saddened that QVC has made the terrible decision to end Linea. I remember your first appearance and if memory serves you were introduced to us by Kathy Levine and Linda Dano. I remember because I was a plus size executive in new york city at the time and was desperate for quality affordable work clothes. For many years you would give us fabulous designs in lux fabrics- silk, suede, leather, wool and linen. Even when budgets restricted use of these high end materials, you managed to find a way to incorporate the look and feel of them. Since retiring 12 years ago, I lost 60 pounds and am now a medium size. It saddened me to give away most of my working wardrobe, though I’m sure it’s still being enjoyed given the quality. My current linea wardrobe contains about 25 whisper knits, tons of pants and jackets—the quality is still there and I will have years of wear.
I have missed seeing you on the Q but have avidly watched your videos. I will continue following you here. If I can speak for the linea ladies, we want to continue to hear or read your tips and pearls of wisdom, as well as updates on what you are up to.
Thank you for providing a forum for us to not only learn, but actually have input. You are the best. Sharon L.
Just received the new ruffle pieces. Going back and ordering the navy and the tanks. What a wonderful Christmas surprise. I want to take this time to thank you for all the joy you have brought for many years, and especially this year. You have made me always feel that when I walk in to a room, I am the best dressed woman. Even though we have never met, I consider you a friend. You have always answered questions and given guidance. I hope you have a wonderful holiday. Thank you.
The moss crepe tank has been posted on the Q. I believe the Leah Williams Saturday morning show will highlight your latest designs.
Yes, Seyma, the three pieces in Moss Crepe will be shown on Monday morning on the Leah Williams show.
OMG, Louis! The pictures of the tank have been posted alongwith a video showing the model wearing the tank and the alabaster suede pants. The video is horrible, it’s a disgrace to your designs. Please have them remove it. Not only do the pants not fit her, they are two sizes too small and totally distorted. It’s a disgrace QVC would even post it! oxoxo Cat
That should really sell it to the youth market they’re allegedly catering to. OMG is right.
Dear Louis,
I just received the ruffled moss crepe skirt and jacket in both black and navy. They are so feminine and fit beautifully. Do you know when the coordinating tank will be posted?
Thank you!
Chris, Seyma has notified us that the tank is posted, and all three pieces will be shown on the 7am Monday morning Leah Williams show, though I don’t know the exact time.
I’m doing my summer/winter closet changeover this week and it’s always like Christmas when I pull out all my lovely Linea from their sleeping bins. So many great pieces to mix and match with my new 2020 additions. Every piece I purchased is a winner. Thank you for making my closet my Happy Place.
Dear Louis, As 2020 draws to a close, I want to thank you for the boost that your posts and videos have brought in this difficult year. It’s always inspiring to see you, the artist at work, discussing your creations — clothes, jewelry, interior design, and garden. Thank you also for my Linea-filled closet and jewelry box! Wishing you perfect health, a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
Louis
Your 72” Couture necklace J481853 is sold out-not surprising. It is a spectacular necklace! I am glad I purchased quickly!
I bought it just before the sale ended Sunday. I am so glad I decided to splurge on it.
Louis, have you finished decorating for the holidays? Did you do your traditional decorations or go a different route this year? I think that it was around this time last year (although, honestly, I’ve lost track of time in 2020) when you did the holiday video from your home. It was wonderful to see all of the lovely decorations you and Jac had collected over the years. I hope that you’re well and were not impacted by the recent storm.
Michelle
Hi
I purchased your (J478587)Trevi Beaded Coin necklace in black or Nero! Photo’s absolutely do not do that necklace justice. It is a beauty!
So happy you like it Joanne…..honestly none of the photos do any of the jewelry justice. It is all much more beautiful than in the photos.
Are you planning to do a video on the new moss crepe and faux suede pieces?
Susan
Lou has been very busy with work, but I’ll try…..no promises. I believe I’ve shown the pant with the polo sweater video
