This section is dedicated to and for anyone who would like to post a question or comment on anything so I may give some feedback and hopefully help in anyway possible. Please make sure all comments and questions are done courteously in respect of not only myself but all who view this blog.
Dear Louis,
I know you hate this question:
What size should I get in the hoodie dress? I will be wearing it over compression leggings and a t neck. I only own your t shirt dress, which is a S. I have the hoodie (which I love, and the matching peony pink shell is a perfect fit.) I wear an 8 or a S in your pants, a 10 in other brands. An 8 in brick and mortar dresses.
The measurements put me in a M; it appears to be a very different cut from t shirt dress. I can’t imagine wearing a L; I have a small frame.
I was reading your comments on young people not knowing about old movies. Last week I was talking to my physical therapist who is thirty two. I used the phrase, “We’ll always have Paris,” in a story I was telling her and she just stared at me. Forget “Casablanca,” she didn’t know about “Gone With the Wind!” I’m getting it for her for Xmas.
My mother took me to my first adult movie when I was seven:”Roman Holiday.” Four nights in a row! I was hooked. Thank God for Turner Classic Movies. My biggest fear is that movie theaters will disappear.
I meant to say the t shirt dress is the only dress of yours I own. I love dresses and have so many I’ve stopped buying them.
Dear Andrea….I’m really not sure what to tell you. If you got a sm in the t-shirt dress….this one isn’t smaller so i would say a small.
Thanks! I’d rather have a good fitting item than a versatile item. The measurements are smaller on this one and it appears more fitted. The sweep measurements are less.
Can the color edged sleeve be turned up?
Forgot to add,I love the leisure line. I’m retired and live in a college town. Nobody dresses here.
I love the peony pink hoodie. The shell is especially comfortable. I don’t need the black one; I have many, many black shells. But I think I’ll get it.
It can, but i think it would look better if the sleeve were pushed up.
I’m chuckling here because we are discussing T Necks and WK sweaters and its in the low 90’s here today!!
Looking forward to seeing any of the wine or merlot items coming in the future. Will there be any jersey print tops (like the engineered or placement print tops) coming?
Regards,
Chris
I know I keep going from one air conditioned room to another through halls that are sweltering. Dear Chris I have no idea what will be on these shows. I’m sneak peeking items that may not even be on the show…..I really won’t know for sure until Friday when I get back from QVC. If items don’t make this show then hopefully they will be on in two weeks on Oct 7th……as you said it’s a wee bit early for fall with 90 degree weather.
Hi Louis, Air conditioning used to be an option in L.A, not anymore!
I’ve been watching runway shows all day trying to figure out the one must have to update our wardrobes this year–what do you think? Cela.
When you figure it out….let me know…LOL
Louis
When will the turtleneck swing sweaters be available? Do you know if they run true to size, large or small. They will sell like hotcakes and I want to be prepared.
Dear Joanne, I never know when these new styles will be posted. I have a feeling it will not be avail until my Oct. 7th show which is only 2 weeks after this show. You probably won’t need it until then anyway. It should run in size as the previous swing sweater did. The ladies can tell you how that style ran.
Hi Joanne,
I’ll try to post the size chart here for the original swing sweater (A259620), but in case I don’t do it right, this link will take you to the thread where the sz chart is posted. Just scroll ’til you see the chart posted by JustJazzMom.
http://community.qvc.com/t5/Linea-by-Louis-Dell-Olio/Linea-Swing-Sweater-A-259620-Sizing/m-p/2060896#U2060896
The new TN should be the same measurements.

HTH.
Madame
Opps, can’t post the chart. BTW, my original swing sweater fit true to the size chart. I purchased the L even tho my bra size is a bit larger because this material has give to it, and I didn’t want the rest of the sweater to be too voluminous. The fit is perfect. One of the best purchases I have ever made anywhere.
Hope this isn’t TMI!!! LOL.
Madame
Drums fingers…where do you suppose they have the single bar pendant necklace stashed? Holding it for holiday or something?
I think they may be holding it for the show date.
Kate, you are too funny! I was thinking the very same thing!!!Chomping at the bit here for that necklace, too 🙂
Hello Louis, so sorry to bother you but I’m working on my Linea list. So this week I need to order the new Milano jacket but what is the reader item please. Maybe I missed it but I need to be prepared .
Sorry the iPad screws up it reorder.
The turtleneck
Thank you Louis I need all three of those too.
The regular wk t-neck I’m assuming, not the new swing version.???? Are there new colors?
Yes Carol….it’s the basic TN….No, the new colors are coming in Oct. Some of the older colors have been reordered, and this will be the last time, so basically these are mostly colors that will be retired.
New leather jacket–I know I’m not suppose to ask, but I’ve been so good for several weeks and haven’t uttered a single word about this delicious new pieced leather jacket. But I can’t hold it in anymore. I’m saving my money for this one jacket this year. Pretty please tell us when it will be available. I will then continue to be patient to see the actual sneak peaks. I just can’t miss this one it was made for me.
It is due in Oct…..I may be able to sneak peek one on my Sept 14th show
That would be wonderful!
Thank you Louis u r the best. Hope u r able to sneak it in;)
Plum please!!!!!!
Wanting to return my conversation to fashion, I will ask the burning question: Will you have more garments in the colors of burgundy, merlot or wine this season? How I love that color, and if you, Louis, are going to have MANY more goodies in the burgundy-like hues this season, I will be thrilled! Maybe a dressy outfit?
Yes to all of your questions….all in Oct.
Oh Happy Day!
Dear Enjay,
I welcome your rebuttal and hope that matters aren’t as dire and dreadful as I fear. You are correct in calling out a judgment drawn from what is seen in popular culture and from the lowest common denominator. Sadly, the popular culture is, to a frightening degree, coarse. And it does represent what most of us — including youngsters — see and hear a lot of the time. It is a “culture” that assaults the senses and the golden mean of being and beauty (to my mind). Of course I want your view to win in the end. I hope you are right and I am wrong. I realize there are good youngsters out there, and I am grateful for that. They will be the ones who continue to carry the light.
I have tremendous faith in good sense and good taste. And my teenage daughter “borrows” my whisper knit scarves and shawls and v-neck sweaters – and looks like a million bucks in them. I take that as a very encouraging sign!
Goldie, as always I value your viewpoints and enjoy your postings very much.
Thanks, Enjay. You must be so proud of your girl — a Linea Lady in the making, that’s for sure. I love that she has excellent Linea-leaning taste and enjoys WK sweaters, scarves and shawls. Her taste gives me hope, too.
Louis I would so much like a Linea Leisure top in a sweetheart neckline with short sleeves for spring. Would you please consider designing a tip for us with a sweetheart neckline? Also thank you for the two way zippers. They are fantastic!
New to your blog. Stumbled upon it browsing the web. Keep up the great work. I am hoping you update it regularly.
Hi, Louis, Just wanted to let you know that my name is Eileen Holden, and my husband’s name is William Holden. You can tell we’re old because if you ask young people if they’ve ever heard of William Holden, most of them will say no. They don’t know what they missed! I never expected to marry a guy with that name, but it’s worked out nicely for 51 years. He is still pretty good looking–I am sure Jac would like to know one of your customers has the same name. Boy, did he make some great movies. Have a fun Labor Day, and tell Jac that William Holden says hello.
I will never understand why young people an I mean even people in their 30s don’t know who these golden era stars are. I certainly new who Douglas Fairbanks, and all the great stars of the 20s, 30s, and 40s were and they were all way before my time. They are missing out on so much….the best movie making as far as I’m concerned……I’ll give Jac your message.
I could not agree with you more, Louis!
Madame
They are growing up with such garbage. I’m not old fashioned, but I hear their music in the gym and some of it is disgusting, vulgar smut. They can’t even speak English. A friend who is a teacher said they don’t teach many subjects we had in school. Then we wonder why this country is in the state it’s in. Our standards have tumbled…..my nephew is the dean of student at a high school on Long Island and the stories would make you sick……Oh don’t get me started.
I hear ya loud and clear. I was in a store the other day and simply could not believe the lyrics/message coming out of the speakers. It was disharmonious, vulgar, and hostile. And the things seen on the screen, well, don’t get me started either! It’s all very sad and very disturbing, if you ask me. Remember when songs had lyrics like this:
Someday
when I’m feeling low
and the world is cold
I will get a glow just thinking of you
and the way you look tonight
Madame
Gone with the wind my dear…..My trainer was translating a rap song for me because I couldn’t understand one word. The lyrics were so disgusting, crude, vulgar and demeaning it’s no wonder there is no respect for anything or anyone anymore
Just as it is with computers, “garbage in, garbage out.” If we no longer provide high ideals and guiding principles for living to our children, our succeeding generations will not be recognizable to us. We have sacrificed ideals, integrity, inspiration, and beauty at the altar of Mammon. To gain greater wealth, people have said yes to selling vulgar, sensationalistic garbage. The young hear and see it, and these are their influences. (Mom and Pop can do their best with good, wholesome thinking and guidance, but they have almost the entire rest of the world influencing their child in a negative manner.) Instead of being uplifted by a film such as “How Green Was My Valley,” our children and grandchildren view ghouls, grotesqueries and horror. No good can come of it. Have you heard some of the language heard on TV during what were at one time referred to as the Family Hours? Ads aired during the national evening news refer to certain dysfunctions. Really, is there ever any relief for these kids? Unsavory and coarse ideas are thrown at us at all times, all over the place. Sad. And the music. I’ve been on a Sinatra kick with his centennial coming up, and the music and lyrics of his songbook are so civilized and tender. Lovers are longed for and worshiped — not referred to in derogatory names and with grunts.
As you can plainly see, this has been weighing on my mind. Apologies. I’m really wondering how to help move things in a different direction. I am sincerely concerned about the younger generations. (Soapbox put back in the garage now.)
Those are the times we live in…..this is the new norm. I can’t imagine what the world will be like in 40 years. I won’t be here to worry about it.
While I agree with many of your personal tastes, I think that you may be making some rather sweeping generalizations. As the rather strict mother of teenagers, I can assure you that high ideals, integrity, inspiration and beauty – in addition to solid character, strong principles and good taste – are not at all absent from the next generation! Based on my experience, I don’t believe that the lowest common denominator, in terms of popular culture, is nearly as dominant or influential as you might think.
Maybe you are correct….and I’m sure there are many teenagers with with strong solid principles, but you can not deny there is an corrosive undercurrent in this country. Better we should stay with fashion. It’s never good idea to talk politics or religion..
Hi Louis,
Will you be on QVC in November and December? If so, would you please share the dates with your devoted fans? Thanks!
Have a wonderful Labor Day. Is that the day you get your annual hot dog? Enjoy!
Carol
I think I will but I don’t have dates yet…….there aren’t many pieces so I don’t know if it will be a full show or appearances…….Jac wouldn’t let me have a HOT DOG….BOO HOO…….I’m having grilled Polish sausages instead…….not bad…..
Thanks for the info. I always try to plan my schedule around your visits to the Q. When I wear your clothes I always feel special. I’ve become a Linea addict. As for the hot dogs, the grilled Polish sausages sound even more delicious. Enjoy.
Carol
Louis, you MUST try Omaha Steaks Gourmet Franks—KILLER, but in a good way! They are the filet mignon of Hot Dogs! You can have them sent to you—they’ll come in dry ice.
Happy Labor Day Louis to you and Jac. Did you see the “Sunday Styles” section in today’s NYT? Advertised are tuxedo-like pants, a zebra coat and a hooded coat. All for $$$$$. We have yours which beats them all. Looking forward to seeing you this week. Elaine
No Elaine…..I didn’t sounds interesting. I’ve seen Zebra coats in the new Sept Vogue, and I do have to say I like my version better. You will be seeing tuxedo stripes a lot this fall and next spring too.
Looking forward to ordering your hooded coat. Enjoy this beautiful day. I’m spending the weekend with friends on the Beach in Belle Harbor, Queens….the last hurrah! Happy to escape that Manhattan humidity.
Louis could we get a sneak peek of the Zebra coat please !
All in good time……..it’s my finale sneak peek.
Louis, Is the Zebra coat in the Sept or Oct show and are there any more magenta tops coming besides the TN? (I don’t wear TNs)
The coat is supposed to be on the Sept show…..and no…this is it for magenta sweaters.
Aw, Pretty Pweeze with a “sad, puppy dog” look. Zebra, yes. So GOFREAKO won’t beat you to it. And show the lining please.
I was reading the QVC Linea forum, and someone posted that the Super Ponte boot cut pant would be available sometime in October. Will this be 32″ length (I hope so, since we can always shorten, but it’s hard to lengthen pants)? Thanks.
Yes Lynn….they will be 32 inches.
I already have the Olive Trench Coat, and I’m thinking of ordering either the navy or burgundy. However, I’m hoping the burgundy is not as dark as the Aubergine. I can wear the Raspberry and Currant colors very well, but I’m unsure of the Burgundy. It’s so hard to tell the color on my computer and on my TV (from the show I DVRd). I have auburn/brown hair, hazel eyes and light complexion (with more yellow than pink in my skin tone. I know navy would work, but a different color would be fun for a change. What do you think of Burgundy for me? Thanks.
Dear Lyn…..The burgundy and the Aubergine are very close so if the aubergine didn’t work for you I don’t think the burgundy will either. You can see in the video Amanda wearing the Burgundy trench with the Aubergine WK V-neck and skirt. They are almost the same…I would recommend the navy.
Thanks, Louis. I just ordered the Navy.
Lyn – I have the navy and it is stunning!!! I think you will be very pleased.
A267883 Linea by Louis Dell’Olio Whisper Knit Color-Block Cardigan
Louis, totally adore this cardigan! Got it in the grey–what color is the contrasting blue in this sweater? Any other (past, present or future) items in this scrumptious blue?
Dear CC….that blue stands on it’s own. The closest blue to it is the Lapis turtleneck A72448, but it is more saturated and intense than the blue of the cardigan….it’s not bad, but definitely not a match
The cruise I’ve been talking about is a Viking River Cruise called “Portraits of Southern France.” If you go to their website, it gives the itinerary and great descriptions of ports of call. I have wanted to go to the Provence area, and this filled the bill quite well. Plus it covers the southern part of the Burgundy wine country. I like the fact there are only 190 passengers, and we get onboard classes in French wines, and French cuisine, among other things. I will let you know how it turns out. Need I say I’m excited. It’s going to be a great place to show off my Linea.
Penny
The cruise sounds fantastic. Have a wonderful time and please tell us all about it when
you come back. This sounds like something I’d like to do in the future.
Two of my colleagues at work have taken river cruises. They returned very satisfied and crowed about their experience. They found the cruises deeply rewarding. One took a Christmas-time cruise that included a stop at the yule-tide markets in Germany. I would love that! And I am not a “cruiser,” in the Caribbean sense of cruising. It never appealed to me.
So, I wish to add, I would love to hear of your experience. For some odd reason, these Viking cruises in Europe are attracting me with a great tug. It is a magnetic pull at this point.
Every time we see the cruise in Russia we say, “let’s book it”.
Louis, Friends took that very Russia cruise and RAVED about it! Have heard very good things about the Viking River cruises, including from a very picky cousin.
Neither are we….those huge ships and all those people just isn’t for us. We are basically loaners….we just enjoy each others company….but I did take a cruise on a small ship….maybe 50-60 passengers in Alaska and loved it. These Viking cruises and other similar ones look very doable.
Louis, those massive ships have also frightened me away — in addition to one more thing. Those “ships of a 1,000 and more passengers” are always pictured out in the middle of the ocean. Whenever the Norovirus strikes, the passengers are truly so far away from health care for dire emergencies, if needed. The cruise ships for Europe et al. always seem to be photographed close to shore; you see the quaint villages and countryside not too far from the ship (which is also more manageable to me because it is smaller). So I get a sense I can get to “terra firma” quickly if need be. Might be a bit of an illusion, but somehow, like you, I find these Viking-type cruises to Europe doable. The others scare me off. I have also heard that some people are “cruisers” while others are not. Not naturally one, I feel attracted to the sort of cruise “georgiapeach” is taking. Really looking forward to her report upon her return.
I’ve done some big cruises in the past–I was on the QE2 going to Bermuda out of New York the night Princess Diana died. I’ve learned I’m not really a cruiser either; I much prefer the freedom of being on land. That said, I would like to take a cruise from Santiago to Buenas Aires, or vice versa, around Cape Horn to see the Straights of Magellan and the Tierra del Fuego–and I’ll never see it otherwise unless I take a cruise–so perhaps.
Dear Penny this sounds exactly what Jac and I have been wanting to do. We want to go to Provence, and we have friends who live in Aix [sp?].
I’d like to recommend Uniworld Cruises. The ships are smaller and more upscale, IMO. Check it out. I did a lot of research before we took ours. We loved it! (Budapest to Amsterdam)
crdlb
My husband and I have booked a Uniworld Cruise (Milan to Venice) for our 40th wedding anniversary next year. We’ve heard nothing but rave reviews about this company from friends who cruise regularly. We are also crowd-adverse and traveling on a large cruise ship with thousands of people far from the shoreline sounds more horrifying than pleasurable to us, so we’re hopeful this will be just right. My one and only cruise experience was a river cruise with my daughter when she was a student in Aix-en-Provence a few years ago. That was a wonderful experience and we met the loveliest people on board.
Hi Louis,
I have the burgundy Trench on WL, am hoping you can help with this question I posted to the Linea Ladies but no one replied… I live near Seattle and once in a while there’s a good chance of getting caught in a good down pour…. I know this isn’t a raincoat was just wondering how it would hold up ? Am not planning on standing in the rain with it for half an hour…..
Thank you
Dear Marie, I’m sure no one answered you because they didn’t have an answer. You know this isn’t a rain coat or even water resistant, so I would avoid standing in the rain too long. It is poly/rayon so I do not think the rain would damage the fabric, and since it does say you can machine wash it I would assume you would be OK, but I haven’t had any experience with the coat and water. Since we make no claims of it being water resistant no water tests were done…..That is the best and most honest answer I can give you. BTW, I would never wash this coat if it were mine. The once a year you may have to clean it…I would dry clean it for a proper press.I honestly think with an umbrella you should be OK, and if you are without one….I would avoid being in the rain for too long.
Thank you Louis, I plan on having mine dry cleaned.
I have two umbrellas in my car and carry one if it looks like it could rain any moment so I’m sure I’ll be fine…..
I am so looking forward to receiving this coat everyone’s raving about…..
Again, thank you for your reply.
I hope you, your lovely Wife and your “girls” have a good Labor Day weekend.
Louis —
I am anxiously awaiting the arrival of all my new purchases, especially the burgundy trench and lariat necklaces. I really need a bigger closet for all your wonderful pieces!
I do have a quick question for you. I have the A236138 suede jacket in topaz. I often wear the jacket with the A259625 shirt in clay (along with the matching whisper knit scarf). Do you think that your new placement print shirt in walnut, A262028, would match with the jacket?
Thanks for your response. I hope that you and Jac have a wonderful Labor Day weekend.
Michelle
Dear Michele…..I tried the topaz suede with the walnut placement print and they not only look good together …..they look GREAT together, so this would be a wonderful option with you jacket. The two together look very fall………………enjoy.
Thanks for the quick response, Louis. On my way now to QVC to purchase the new placement print shirt. Can’t wait for the Fall weather to arrive so I can wear all of my LDO pieces!
Michelle
Thank you for your interest and enthusiasm in my cruise. I will be happy to give details, if you think it is appropriate to name names, like the cruise company and the itinerary. Needless, to say I am very excited about it.
Thanks,
Penny
It’s very appropriate if you would like to share. We are all friends here and would love some good tips….especially for a trip that sounds as wonderful as yours
Hi, I mention a company we used further below. Enjoy your trip georgiapeach.
Hi, Louis! By now you know that we are all ga-ga over the new trench coat! You might want to read the thread on the Q Linea board as well. After floundering for quite a while, I finally ordered the gorgeous burgundy. Come on, fall weather!!!
Here comes the follow-up. Several of us are requesting a full length trench with button-out lining and button-off hood. Swoon….I bought one many years ago in Barcelona -dark green wool gabardine- and I wore it until it was literally in threads. Haven’t found one that I liked as well since. What are the chances for a full-length coat? Yes, yes I know it will be more expensive. But I have no doubt it will fly.
Hi Barbara…the burgundy should look fabulous with your coloring……what do you consider a full length coat? Where does it hit on the leg? Do you have a measurement?….50 to 55 inches?. I can always sketch one, but that’s no guarantee they will buy it…..especially if they reorder this one.
It’s a beauty. And a wool challis scarf I bought at Loden Plankl in Vienna looks fabulous with it held by a shoulder epaulet. Will wear it with pants tucked into riding boots that way. Other ways too, of course. As for the full length trench, to about mid-calf on me, not all the way to the ground. My full length winter coats are still packed away so I can’t measure them for an exact measurement. Will see what I can find.
OK. Looks like a friend of yours may have designed one 😀 !!! It’s called a “maxi”. No button out lining here but a hood. Hope this comes through.http://shop.nordstrom.com/s/dkny-lea-double-breasted-maxi-trench-coat-with-detachable-hood-regular-petite/3913460?cm_mmc=Google_Product_Ads_pla_online-_-datafeed-_-women:outerwear:3_4_or_long_coat-_-1013077&gclid=CJ7Nt-Cf3McCFQsRHwodM_4Org&mr:referralID=eb6f1b67-52a5-11e5-9ef7-005056941669
Dear Louis,
What she said! I’d love one.
Dear Louis,
I love longer length coats with hoods!!! This would definitely be on my wish list, especially if it had the button out lining.
Louis, I would very much appreciate a longer length in this same coat. If it can be pulled off design-wise and meeting QVC financial expectation parameters only by eliminating the hood, I would still like a longer edition. I would even love it simply longer — without a hood and a lining. However, if all desirable suggested additions were part of this new-design coat, I would buy it. One way or the other, I, too, desire a longer version of your trench coat.
Me, too! How about a length of 48″?
Dear Louis,
I’m just adding to the chorus of praise for your fabulous trench coat! I received mine today in navy and olive and they’re perfect in every way. The weight of the fabric makes it wearable throughout the Colorado winter. (Few people realize Colorado gets 300 days of sunshine, so our winters are typically mild…)I think just about every compliment has been expressed by ladies far more eloquent than me, so I’ll just add my gratitude to you for designing this amazing classic & elegant trench at an even more amazing price point. Someone on the forum said this trench is one for the “Linea Hall of Fame.” Couldn’t agree more.
When I use my work computer, I come up as “anonymous.” Mystery solved. Oh well.
I’d also LOVE a maxi trench coat 🙂
I want to add my voice to those praising the new trench coat. I received mine in navy yesterday, and couldn’t wait to try it on. The fit is amazing!!! To those who remember, I felt like Marlo Thomas in “That Girl.” It definitely makes the best kind of statement. It seems to be sufficient for even really cold days without being bulky.
I also want to let you know I’m off to France on a river cruise in a couple of weeks, with a suitcase(s) of Linea. It’s going to be fun wearing them in a country known for its style. I always feel better when I’m wearing an outfit from you. I will also be taking lots of Linea jewelry. It’s great having jewelry that go so well with those outfits. I feel a lot more poised.
Keep up the excellent work. I’m headed over to the QVC site to add my praises there. Thank you again,
Adieu
Dear georgiapeach. I am so happy to hear from you. It’s really satisfying to know the trench is working for so many of you from all over the country. I have been forwarding everyone’s comments to my manufacturer and fit team. It’s wonderful for them to hear compliments once in a while. They are so used to being told what’s wrong. I hope it lifts their day……..Now to the important stuff….your trip!Jac and I have seen so many commercials about river boat trips and we have been tempted many times. I want to hear EVERYHING when you get back. I want to know about the boat, the accommodations, the FOOD and where you stopped….so you had better keep a diary!! It sounds fabulous and you’re going at the perfect time of the year….knock them out in your Linea…..Bon Voyage!!
I am also all ears to hear about your trip, georgiapeach! Several friends as well a a cousin have taken one of those river boat trips and just raved about them! Bon voyage and à bientôt!
Hello Louis, a few years back we took a barge trip on the Saone River from Lyon to Dijon arranged thru Abercrombie and Kent. Delightful, relaxing and delicious vacation. Take a look at their website and tell Jac to start packing! Best wishes and have a happy and safe Labor Day weekend, Elaine
Louis, you did it! The perfect coat! This is the first coat I’ve owned in over 10 years. I haven’t been able to find a coat that fits splendidly and is in a fabric weight that works for the winter months in northwest Florida. Coats seem to be either too light (like an all-weather rain-n-shine) to be warm enough for Dec/Jan, or they are too heavy and wooly for even the coldest day in the South. Like Goldilocks… this one is JUST RIGHT! I bought both the burgundy and the olive. The details and fit are spot on. Thank you for the double belt loops. The lower ones work for me. The sleeves are a bit full in my plus size, but the belt tab at the cuff that lets me cinch them in makes them fit fine. Again, thanks so much for all the effort you put into this garment. Deborah
Hello,
I’m so pleased with the navy trench coat. It is gorgeous and fits beautifully. The numeric sizing worked out well for me. I have such trouble with letter sizing. I’m between large and xl. Larges are often tight in the hip area and xl is often just too big in the top and sleeve length. Numeric sizes don’t increase as much between sizes which works out so much better for me. I’m hoping the zebra coat will be offered in the number sizing.
Thank you for this elegant addition to my wardrobe.
The place to enter your comments about Louis’ jewelry is on the Jewelry Forum. The topic is “Show us your QVC jewelry!” in case you have trouble finding it (since new topics are added all the time).
A couple of us have asked for on-air jewelry shows. I, for one, would love to see on-air presentations of Linea jewelry.
Wouldn’t it be great to have a Linea Channel–All Linea All the Time?
FYI – J325472 Triple Bar Necklace is Posted on Q and available to order!
Dear Seka, thanks for letting us know. I guess the single bar will be right around the corner.
Good morning Louis,
The single bar pendant necklace that was shown on top of the Henley tunic, will there be earrings to match with this single bar necklace?
Will the topiary green raglan tunic coordinate with the upcoming taupe Leisure pants?
Thanks in advance.
Regards,
Chris
Dear Chris….I show the Demi hoop or the large hoop with the bar necklaces. I have sampled a bar earring for spring, but who knows if they will buy it. I’m not even sure I would show a “matching” earring. I do not have the taupe L.L. pant to see how they would work, and I would rather not guess from a small swatch. If the taupe is dark enough then I would say yes.Dark grey will also look good and i do have a pair of gab pants coming this spring.
Dear Louis,
Today a wave of thunderous applause will reach your ears, I am sure, as Linea Ladies all over the land continue to receive your new trench coat. As I wrote in my review, you grabbed the gold ring with this one.
This message is to thank you and your jewelry manufacturer TCJC of Smithfield, R.I., for restringing my green and gold bead torsade necklace from two or three seasons ago. I wrote to you about this in April but only recently packed up the necklace and shipped it off. The company returned it to me two days ago, and my necklace is ready for the world once again.
How wonderful that all parties concerned stand behind the merchandise. That, too, is gold. Bravo on that trench coat again, though.
My best!
Dear Goldie….I’m so happy everyone is loving their trench….A lot of work and hours went into making and fitting the coat, and I’m so happy you got your green necklace back. The building in Ridgefield used to be a major manufacturing facility for TCJC, but now they only do paper work, shipping and minimal manufacturing….mainly repairs. The manufacturer that originally was hired to make these necklaces TCJC no longer does business with because of all the breaking problems. I was sick over the fact that so many necklaces were broken and the necklace wasn’t reordered. It still is one of my favorites.
Louis, my navy trench just arrived, it’s fabulous! It could hang right next to the trench coats that I saw in Bergdorf’s window yesterday. Looking forward to an end of this steamy weather to wear it. Many thanks, Elaine
Dear Elaine….wear it in good health. As you know ALL trench coats are derivative of the original trench coat that Burberry made for the soldiers during WW1. So I’m sure all of the trench coats in the windows of Bergs were “brothers and sisters” of my coat…..probably all well over $1000 if they are in Bergdorf with designer labels….LOL
Louis, will wear my fabulous Linea Trench with my Tank watch!! Let BG’s try to top that! Also, looking forward to your leopard hooded coat. Thank you for great shows and regards to Jac. Best, Elaine
That sounds perfect…….the hooded coat is actually a Zebra pattern, and it’s fabulous…..Hopefully it will be on the Sept 14th show.
Dear Louis,
I received the burgundy and olive trench coats. OMG, they are everything you said and more!!!! It is quite heavy and not at all like a rain coat weight. I have to have the sleeves taken up but it is well worth it. I think this is my favorite coat ever from you. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!!!
What she said! I ordered the burgundy and what a stunning, elegant (but slightly edgy) color–just the thing for all the black I wear. Fits true to Linea size, too with enough ease around the rump to allow for comfortable sitting. On waitlist for olive…if this goes well, hopefully we can have British tan next year!
burgundy?? I could have sworn you were ordering navy….no harm the Burgundy is fabulous
I ordered both and am on wait list for olive. Navy has not yet arrived!
you are too much….but as you know already they can’t be beat for $134. I really don’t know how my manufacturer can do it.
Dear Louis,
Your trench coat is in a class by itself. That fabric! It will give warmth while it looks like luxury itself. Just fabulous!
Louis:
You’re the top, you’re the Coliseum
You’re the top
You’re the Louvre Museum
You’re a melody from a symphony by Strauss
You’re a Bendel bonnet, a Shakespeare sonnet, you’re Mickey Mouse
You’re the Nile, you’re the Tower of Pisa
You’re the smile on the Mona Lisa
For those who are very young, these lyrics are from Cole Porter’s “You’re the Top.” Can’t take credit.
Dear Goldie ….thanks for the song!
Louis – I had to write to comment on the new picture on your Linea page on QVC.com. Very handsome! You always look great as does your gorgeous wife. I heard you mention that Jacque was at the photoshoot. We would love to see those pictures. Keep up the great work!
Thanks Ann…..the picture was just taken a few weeks ago, but the one of Jac and I is outrageous….She looks so beautiful!
Single Bar pendant necklace????!!!
And tuxedo stripe tights? Oh my…! Are those coming in time for holiday?
They better be!
Soon, I hope! The long length is ideal for me! Hope it comes in all four of your metal colors!
I was referring to the single bar necklace Kate mentioned.
Yes Maia…all 4 colors will be avail.
I’m also psyched about that single bar necklace AND the tuxedo hose! Just wow.
Dear Louis,
Will the new quilted jacket and motto leather be in numbered sizing. Since the back of the quilted jacket is more like a WK sweater and the front is of a difference material should we size up?
Dear Tylerpoo…..both jackets will be numerically sized. I do want to emphasize that the decision whether a garment is SML or 2,4,6 etc. is up to the buyers and the QVC fit department. We can suggest, but ultimately it is their decision. I would not go up in either jacket. The quilted jacket is very easy and with the WK back and sleeves it has a lot of stretch. This is no heavier than a sweater, so it is only an outerwear jacket for the beginning of each season in the northern areas. For the warmer climes it’s an ideal weight for when they will need a little something more.I would say the Moto has a semi fit, not sure what the Q is calling it, but I see no reason to size up. As we get closer to Oct, when the moto is due, I will have more info on that piece fit wise.
Hello Louis,
I learned a long time ago to never pass on Linea outerwear-ever! The olive trench is coming home to me, though all three colors looked beautiful.
Question: Have you ever done a WK sweater with a keyhole neckline? If not, I would love one. At the moment I can’t recall since my many WKs have been packed away for months.
What a great idea. I’d love a Linea-d version of this: A11280
Dear Louis,
I was also one of the lucky ones! I ordered the trench in navy & olive before my size was waitlisted. I also watched the show “live” & enjoyed your presentation–the trench looks amazing and I can’t wait to get mine! Looking forward to tomorrow’s shows…
I was wondering if you have anything in tartan coming this season?
Dear Grace….no tartan. I did have some beautiful plaids, but they weren’t bought.
It’s always the same story–you offer stellar, designer pieces and they’re rejected. I would have loved some plaids, especially a skirt. Thank you for at least trying and always pushing for more and better on our behalf!
I would have loved to have had something in plaid, especially a scarf. Last year Godfreako leaked that you may have a buffalo check scarf coming, but it never showed. Is that in our future?
Carol
P.S.–Ordered the trench in olive to go with the olive whisper knit dress and tops that I already have. It looks absolutely stunning in the video. Can’t wait to get it!
Unfortunately it wasn’t purchased. I don’t even know how gODFREAKo knew about it?
Louis, the trench was even better than expected. I purchased prior to presentation, but was even happier after your on air explanation. After seeing Jac in the Navy/Black, I was happy that I had purchased that combo. I have similar coloring as Jac.
Thanks for designing such a beauty. I cannot wait to receive. The trench will be so great for fall and spring in Chicago.
I thinking of that one too. Of all three, I think navy will be the best to transition from winter to spring. Wise buy!
Hi Louis now I must admit I was going to pass on the trench but when I turned on the Q and that olive was the first thing that caught and kept my eye I ordered it love the color on Leah and how it looked she still had it on after the olive was sold out. Watching the upclose details and the material was obvious that I would be missing out on something that may not come around again and for the price which I still find hard to believe is insane. I loved the length, hate the numerical sizing but ordered anyway. I am looking forward to making space for this beauty I see this will be a welcome transitional piece to wear here in NYC when the weather starts to cool down but is not brick cold.
I also loved the color pants you were wearing somewhere in the olive family; any chance of that color coming in pants or something down the road?
Dear Joanne….I hope you love it when you receive it….it’s all I have said and more….enjoy
Dear luvitorleaveit….there is always a chance there will be olive pants, but there aren’t any planned right now. There is a pair avail mow in the gaberdine that matches my olive WK.
Thanks for responding I have been eyeing those pants for a while but got distracted by all the other goodies so I’m ordering the olive I also have the olive and navy pull on leggings A255122 I practically live in these on the weekends.
I would have loved to see some plaids….too bad that didn’t happen.
I own 2- of the A253411 in black, small, and love them-how does it differ from the A237412 in the walnut vs A253411 in the coffee bean in colors of browns and in size small? Thanks !can’t wait to buy more of your elegant clothing! .Debby
Dear Debby….the coffee bean is a lighter brown than the walnut which is very dark. They are both rich Browns but the colors are very different . The 411 is also shorter. I think the fit is basically the same….They are supposed to be.
Louis are you going to bring back the cargo dress with roll tab sleeves (item #A223657 on qvc)?
No….I have nothing like that coming. It was a fabulous dress in a wonderful fabric that still looks great today….to bad the fabric wasn’t accepted as I had hoped. The dress only did fair.
Hi Louis,
I see that another Carol posted earller today, but I just wanted to say thank you for showing on air this morning how to tie the single loop belt. I had requested that earlier. You are just the best in taking care of your customers, and it is so appreciated! I got my trench coat ordered in navy, and am looking forward to receiving it. Cannot wait for Monday to see more of your new things. Have a great rest of the weekend.
Louis,
I was thrilled with this morning’s presentation of your beautiful classic trench. Along with the olive trench, I ordered the matching shawl, and the clearance priced WK skirt in olive. I already have the new olive tights and the gaberdine olive pants. OMG I have the TN ,the Swing sweater and the cheetah V NK top too! I’m all set with my column of color.
(Can you guess that green, any hue, is my favorite color?)
bcm..you are going to rock!
Louis, that trench is just too too! Can you tell us what size Jac was wearing? Hers fit her impeccably and it would really help me judge if I chose correctly or need to change sizes. Thanks!
crdlb
Dear carol….Jac is a6, and she was wearing. 6 with my waist whittling TN with the ribbed neck and torso section in Ivory she was also wearing a new FABULOUS black pant that’s coming in Oct.
Thanks, Louis. She really did your trench justice–as she always does!
We now move to Lariat Stalking! I was sold on the gold until I saw the gunmetal with the burgundy trench coat and the aubergine wk pieces. Holy Smokes!
I know what you mean, Kate. Until Louis, I have never been a lariat sort of lady. He changed my mind in a hurry, however, and I was unquestionably won over by the lariat’s appearance with the aubergine pieces (WK and hosiery), all of which I have. Thank heavens for some buying relief! Gunmetal has been my choice from the outset. Still, I’ll probably return for the goldtone at another time.
You ain’t just whistling Dixie
Louis,
Just watched the Video presentation of the Trench! That Coat looks Fantastic! Loved the presentation – and so glad the Q gave you plenty of time! Placed my Order at midnight – have learned – it’s pretty much Sold Out (my size in all Colours is gone)!
WOW! And the Q had 2,200 Coats to begin with!
Thank you for such beautiful Designs!
Fellow Ladies Who Linea — the trench is up on the Q for waitlist ordering. Got my olive and the price is incredibly reasonable!
Hi Louis,
Maybe I missed this somewhere, but I’m just a bit confused about the Trench Coat fabric … can you confirm, is it a woven or a knit fabric?
LOVE the colors, especially Navy & Burgundy!
Thanks, Cathy in PA
Dear Cathy…..it is a woven….very similar to my gaberdine pant fabrics and the pinstripe suit in the poly/rayon/span blend….only in a coating weight.
Thank You!
Good morning Louis, I was wondering if you will be bringing the opaque aubergine tights back to QVC. I missed out on that color. I’ve ordered every color of the tights that are now on the QVC site and I keep checking back to see if aubergine has been added. Thank you.
Dear Karan…they were not reordered……a heads up there are season fashion colors introduced each year, such as the aubergine, that will only be avail. for that one season. The classic colors like gray, black, walnut, navy will be reordered as long as they keep selling. Each new season I will introduce a new color such as the new OLIVE, but that will also be for the one season, unless the demand is extremely high.
Thanks Louis. I suspected that might be the case with special colors. I did order the new Olive color tight as well as all the other colors now available so that I would have them. I purchased your whisper knit pencil skirt in 5 colors with different matching sweaters and love the look with matching tights for winter. I’m on waitlist for the stone animal print tights, so keeping fingers crossed stone will come in.
Dear Karen……regarding the stone animal instincts tights, they also have not been reordered so your chance of getting a pair is slim to none. They are not supposed to reship returns unless the package hasn’t been opened Since grey is going to be a very important color for me this fall, and most likely for seasons to come. I would highly suggest the animal instinct tights in the gray and black…..if they are still avail. These too will not be continued.
Hello Louis, Thanks for the info on tights. I ordered the animal instinct pattern in gray and black and so glad I did as black is now sold out. By any chance, will you be offering a Whisper Knit pencil skirt in charcoal grey this season?
Dear Karen….no I wish I were. I will try to get on next fall.
Any idea when we might see the new lariat?
Hopefully by Monday or at least show time. I know they have them.
GREAT, I am really looking forward to seeing what you have this Fall. I love your separates.
Louis,
Any suit separates coming….jackets and matching pants? My dry cleaner ruined 3 pair of pants which ruined 3 suits….I really need to replace. Thanks
Yes G……I believe it is due for my Oct 10th show
I see there was a change so does that mean the new leather and knit blazer won’t be shown this time? What about the trench coat.
Dear Sharon, the new leather jacket is not a blazer. It is a Moto jacket, and was never supposed to be shown now. It is scheduled for Oct. I only showed the sneak peek SKETCHES, because I was asked to preview the out wear that’s coming. I hope this didn’t confuse you. The trench is scheduled to be on AMStyle this Sat with Leah Williams. The show starts at 8am, but I don’t know what time I will be on……I hope this clears everything up.
I’m sorry but there was an update of yours on August 25th said you would be showing the leather and knit blazer and the placement print top so I thought it was one of the new items. Sorry for my confusion.
That’s alright…I can understand the mix up, but it’s a terrific blazer anyway.
You mentioned that the original LL pants are reordered in black. Are navy reordered? I wasn’t fast enough and missed navy. I could sleep in these pants; they are so comfortable.
Yes Andrea, Navy too, but that won’t be until Jan. of 2016
worth waiting for!I plan on wearing the white AFTER Labor Day.It’s been too hot this summer to wear them. Hope the fashion police won’t come after me. I think the type of fabric is more important than the color.
You have my permission
Hi Louis –
Any chance there is a whisper knit poncho in our future?
I’m loving the new trench!
Susan
No….they passed on the poncho.
Hi Louis boy am I going to have even more fun dressing this fall and winter no matter what they forecast in NYC! I love the WK V-neck cardigan and the WK short sleeve top both in grey the fit is perfect ordered my regular size xl; and ditto to the color block cardigan in the grey blue…beautiful combination of colors; all the pieces will look awesome with the grey ponte pants and skirt as well as other colors. I also appreciate the longer sleeve length. Looking forward to your outerwear.
Hi Louis,
Another home run out of the park! Can’t decide on color. They all look luscious. I recently purchased the raspberry shawl. How would that work with the burgundy trench – tonal or nah! I think it would look chic with the other two colors, but wondering about the burgundy. Thanks.
Dear bcm….not a good match…the black shawl or WK scarf which is avail would be much better.
Thanks for your reply. What about the olive shawl? Does that work with the olive trench?
Morning bcm….checked the olive shawl…..they are both in the same family, but the shawl, as all the olive WK, is darker. They definitely can be worn together.
Great. Thank you Louis.
Hi Louis,
I just saw the sneak peak of the trench coat and I am in love. Since they are numerical sizes I am trying to figure out the size I will need. The pea coat that you did last year fit me perfectly. Will this trench coat have the same size profile? I am looking at the ‘Click Here’ measurements on the QVC website. I would like to compare the pea coat and the trench measurements to come up with the right size. Thank you for your help and most of all for designing such beautiful clothing. Can’t wait till your next show!
Pat…..they are very hard to compare….apples and pineapples…..totally different fabrics and shapes…….and it all depends how you like things to fit. You should always compare the measurements to something similar…..like another trench jacket or coat. My size 6 fits my size 6 form perfectly. If it were me and I were between sizes, I would go to the larger size, not because the coat is small, but I like to layer with a sweater and jacket…..otherwise stay with your size.
**August 28th, 8:00am, AMStyle with Leah Williams
Actually August 29!!!
There I go again….can never get the numbers right!
I just received the textured grass green skirt and top. It is so beautiful. I am not sure why I did not order it during that show. I glad I wised up.
Glad it was still avail, and that you like it….enjoy
Dear Louis,
I, too, hesitated at first on this skirt but then decided on the grass green to go with my Whisper Knit tunic (with placket and logo buttons on sleeves) in grass green. It is such a lovely set. Happy I took the leap! The skirt hits shorty me at mid-knee, so I was happy with that.
Dear Louis,
The topaz and tobacco color looks very similar in color. Will the tobacco leisure pants match or goes with the topaz zebra sweater, is any pants in the topaz/tobacco coming?
Dear Tylerpoo….the topaz and tobacco are similar, but not the same. The topaz is in general lighter and brighter tan the tobacco which is darker an a bit more on the brown side. I tried the zebra and LL pant together, and at first they are not a match so I put them on my form with a black sweater which hangs below the zebra sweater and that makes all the difference. Separating the two colors with black makes them IMHO, work together……I don’t have any pants coming in either color other than the LL pant…..but in March [I think], I will have a Moss Crepe pant in a color called Cinnamon……this is not a match either, but it does blend nicely.
I know you don’t like to repeat colors but would you consider bringing back topaz and offering in the t-neck and other WK styles? Such a flattering color.
I can’t bring back old styles in old colors, that is up to the reorder department, I can only bring in new colors, but I can with new styles.
Hello Louis, I’m planning my fall winter Linea allowance. Is it my understanding that this show at the end of August will be showing the items that are now available. I now have to have these new jackets and coat and then again all the swing sweaters that will be coming the end of September or October .
Dear Sharon…..I’m not sure I understand your question. Some of the items that I expect on the Aug. show have been posted early, but some have not….none have been aired.
Hi Louis,
Will the Swing Sweater in WK from last Fall be returning? If so, can you tell me what colors? I have already gotten the Cardigan Style Swing Sweater, but would like to have a couple of the other style as well. Also, thank you for the Outerwear Preview…I am excited, and looking forward to those!
Yes…in October or maybe sooner since it’s a reorder.
Can you tell us what colors that the Swing Sweater from last Fall will be available in this year?
Also, just took a peek at the details of the new Trench Coat…looks so beautiful, I cannot wait to get one! Louis, will you please, please show us how to tie the “one sided loop” for the belt when you present that coat on air? I love the look, but have never been able to figure out how to do it. Thanks so much!
Dear Carol….the colors are all new to the sweater except black…..Merlot, perfectly pink, imperial violet [a purple], and tobacco.
Can I also plead for the return of clothes made of pebble crepe? That fabric is just magic.
Dear Kate…I sketched a whole group in pebble crepe, but only one style was chosen. I guess one is better than none.
Hurrah for the one that made it through the “PWTB gauntlet.” I’m a firm lover of pebble crepe (PC), too, and how I’d wish the selection committee would see the light on this fabric. So sorry I missed out on the era of PC Capri pants or whatever length the pants were. Fabulous fabric! Its look speaks highly of Linea and QVC. Very swank yet it is casual-comfortable.
Meant “TPTB gauntlet.” Apparently, the word “power” is rubbing me the wrong way and is the prominent word in the PC drama.
As I sit here writing this, I’m wearing my pebble crepe cropped pants. So far today they have been to church, to lunch, and to a movie. I’ve been oh so cool, and so comfortable that I feel as if I’m wearing PJs. Dare I ask what new style has been chosen – top, or pants?
a top
Thanks, Louis! (But you know I would have been happy with either, lol.)
Very sad – I really need a pair of black slacks in pebble crepe, 32″ inseam.
Happy for a new top though….thanks for trying.
I agree wholeheartedly! I’ve worn the sleeveless pebble crepe tunics and crops so often that they’ve become a uniform. Nothing better on a hot summer day. I think there’s a sizeable fan base for this fabric on the forum…maybe the QVC buyers will notice?
I agree, I have mine on today and am very comfortable. I love the fabric and would love more crops and tops in this fabric
Yes, the sleeveless tunic is so fabulous on a hot summer day. I wish that one would make a return in new colors. We know the correct size we need!!!
Hi Louis
I agree with Beryl. I am the gal who also loves these pants and have posted about them previously. You indicated you did not think they would be reordered because QVC thinks they have not sold well. They are sold out in several sizes. Clearly they are selling well. I own 2 black, 2 light Khaki, 1 Navy. These pants are sensational in every way. Best pants I have ever ordered from QVC. Please see if they can be reordered. I also am keeping my fingers crossed!
Dear Joanne….yes there are broken sizes, but the returns were very high, and the returns were sent out to women on wait list. Returns are costly to the customers, and to QVC. The processing and re entry into the system and then reshipping is very expensive and takes a lot of people to manage. I don’t understand why these pants had such high returns.Sometimes women hope for the best, knowing these types of pants may not be for them, but give them a try only to find out their hunch was correct. Others just don’t like them for one reason or another….the end result….high returns….so no reorders. That is the case with these pants. When it comes to pants, and dresses I have given up on thinking they may be reordered……so get them while you can
I sent a request to QVC to reorder these pants. Also on the forum there were numerous statements about the quality and love of these pants. I am not sure if it matters, but the pants are loved. Like you I do not understand how people could not love these pants. The fabric, fit etc are all perfect. Thank you for designing these wonderful pants.
I did return these pants because I didn’t have enough hips to fill out my normal size. I needed to size down in these pants. I have the black and the brown pebble crepe pants once I determined the correct size to order. So if these were offered again I would now know the size to purchase.
sorry I thought that was regarding the pebble crepe crop pants.
Dear Louis,
Can we please, please have a reorder of A265615 pants. The smalls are all gone and they are the best pants I have ever owned. Fingers crossed.
I also adore these pants A265615. Have multiples of every color. Best pant ever.
