    Dear Louis,
I can’t tell you how much I am enjoying your leaf necklace and earring set. I first purchased the gunmetal, then two of the gold, and then today I ordered the chocolate. Hope that you will have more jewelry goodies for us in the next few months!
    Dariann

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

Dear Dariann….I am so Glad you are enjoying your Leaf necklaces….what no silver??? LOL….You must try mixing the colors….the GM and Chocolate is wonderful together..I’m sure you have tried it doubled……since you have two of the Gold try wearing one doubled and the other long….if you haven’t already….it’s a real statement, but still has a delicacy….You can think of the necklace as being very modern…..or something from ancient Greece or Rome…..I really really love this piece

  2. Goldie76

From the coverage I’ve read of your friend Donna Karan’s memoir (“My Journey”), it looks like a fascinating read. The romantic in me adores her great love for her second husband, Stephan Weiss.

(My, but I am the little chatterbox today.)

    1. louis dell'olio

Stephan was a terrific guy……he really had it all……It was terrible what happened to him.

  3. Goldie76

Louis, so many of us raved about your Double-breasted Trench Coat (A267875). After my chianti and olive coats arrived, I knew I wanted a particular look for the bag that I’d use when I wore the coat. Is it okay to endorse a handbag on this forum? I hope so because it is so perfectly made for your trench. I am referring to the Tignanello Glazed Vintage Leather Saddle Crossbody Bay (A272290). The wonderful thing is that the bag comes in chianti (which coordinates well with the burgundy trench coat), olive and navy — the colors of the coats. It is the perfect accoutrement for your trench coat. Somehow the slightly military look of both the coat and bag really feed wonderfully off one another. I am thrilled by what I see as a very snappy look.

    1. Goldie76

Oh my, why am I always getting a darkened blue beside my remarks? What have I done wrong?

    2. Debbie M.

      Goldie76,

I just received that bag in the olive for my trench. GMTA

      1. Goldie76

        Great minds … 🙂 YES!

Do you like the Tignanello shade of olive with the trench coat of that color, Debbie? I was thinking of it as a next item of attack.

        1. Goldie76

The Tignanello navy looks like the Linea brand of navy. That is a fantastic coincidence.

          1. Grace

            Goldie,
Thanks for the recommendation! I have the trench in olive & navy, so I picked up the navy crossbody bag. Love the equestrian styling! You have excellent taste!

            1. Goldie76

Bet you say that to all the Linea Ladies, Grace! 🙂 But we do, don’t we? We wear Linea! The design of that bag is perfect for the trench. There is just something about it. So glad you agree. And can you believe that navy? Looks like it belongs to the Linea line’s navy family.

            2. louis dell'olio

Ladies….I was curious so I looked at the bag……Great choice. I hope the colors are true to the photos….and the Hunter is indeed Olive and not a true Hunter Green…….I thought all of the colors looked great. There was a bag for each color of the trench coats.

  4. Mary

    Dear Louis:

Right now I am wearing the A92298 pants in Black, from 2009. They complement the shawl collar jacket, A92293, which I also own in Ink. The crepe fabric on these pants is phenomenal. Very high quality, substantial and it hangs beautifully. And they fit like no other pants I own.

Both the jacket and the pants are worth much, much more than I paid. Please bring back this fabric. I love the crepe fabrics in general, but this one is outstanding.

    1. Bobbie

I agree, Mary. I have asked for an encore in the past of this classic suit. It has never let me down. With a quick change of an accessory or two, it has taken me from the office to a funeral and then to a special evening event, within 14 hours, and I felt nicely dressed,as the suit looks very expensive. As you noted, the fit is beautiful, and the weight of the fabric is perfect for a suit. I’ll join the chorus, “Please bring it back, Louis!.”

    2. Louis Dell'Olio

Dear Mary…..I’m happy to hear after all of these years that you are still enjoying your suit. I haven’t done anything like it or have brought the fabric back, because it did not sell that well?

  5. debby

So in love with your line!! Can the faux leather sleeves on the A267937 Milano sweater be rolled up if they are a tad long? Thanks again for making us look so sophisticated! Debby

    1. louis dell'olio

Dear Debbie…I do not like them rolled back. The wrong side of the faux leather doesn’t look right. I would recommend either turning them under and taping them up or having someone just top stitch it…..It’s real easy. If you have a sewing machine you can easily do it.

      1. Teri

I took a simple seam where the knit meets the leather. That way the professional edge remained. The proportions look right and I did it with a needle and thread while watching TV. Looks perfect. Love my Ottoman knits. BTW, it looks great with the black Ottoman skirt from a few seasons ago.

Louis, do you think that your design ideas were influenced by Hollywood’s great designer Helen Rose? Recently, I’ve seen several early Esther Williams movies, and I noticed that when she is dressed in a sweater/skirt/belt and wears strong gold earrings, I have a sense of your clothing. And I always LOVE the look! Rose also dressed Elizabeth Taylor in “Rhapsody,” another movie where I admired the attractive suits, sweaters and jewelry. This thought made me wonder if, in addition to Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, Helen Rose’s designs and fashion style made an indelible print on my mind. Did they influence you? Just a thought…

    1. Goldie76

These links were all that I could find. They do not successfully demonstrate the beauty and power of Helen Rose’s designs, I am sorry to say. Sometime when TCM has them on, watch “The Duchess of Idaho” or “Rhapsody.” When you see a close-up of Esther wearing her “autumn” colors and statement gold earrings, you have a great sense of style being transmitted from the screen to the viewer.

    2. Anonymous

      Goldie,

Did you know that Helen Rose designed Grace Kelly’s wedding gown? Still IMO one of the most exquisite and timeless gowns of all time!i am surprised that LDO did not know of her.

      1. Louis Dell'Olio

Actually, I did know that, and now that I’ve thought about it I do remember some of her more famous designs, but I liked Walter Plunkett and Travis Banton the most out of all of the Hollywood designers.Edit Head was also one of the greats……..I really never understood why she took the credit, and the Oscar for Sabrina when Givenchy did all of Audrey Hepburn’s clothes.

        1. Goldie76

Interesting fact about Edith Head’s Oscar for “Sabrina.” I always knew Edith Head’s name but noticed upon recently watching the early Esther Williams flicks that I loved her look of sweaters (particularly the turtleneck), suits, skirts and bold gold earrings. It struck me that the look must have influenced me, even though when the movies I’m referring to came out when I was an infant or toddler. Maybe some Photoplay shots I later saw of scenes from those movies affected my style choices. Not sure. But I do like Helen Rose’s fashions, apparently. Will have to look into Walter Plunkett and Travis Banton. I wonder if any other Linea Ladies liked Ann Sothern’s crisp secretarila look on her TV show with Don Porter. It was called “Private Secretary.” Again, she always looked tailored and crisp, with bold earrings.

      2. Goldie76

No, I did not know that. Grace Kelly was an exquisite bride. Now I know why. Thank you for sharing that information.

  7. TrishM

Hello Louis I am beside myself with excitement…your gorgeous suede jacket was a lunchtime special…black was the only color but I grabbed it anyway…everything you make is wonderful. I know it’s not washable suede but I should be able to spot clean the knit material on the sleeves correct?…thanks!!!

  8. luvitorleaveit

Thanks for posting about the WK turtleneck in the lapis blue with the blue/grey colorblock cardigan. I’ll check to see how it looks and if my size is still available.

  9. Mary in CT

    Louis,
Does the Lapis Blue WK turtleneck the blue in the grey/blue color block cardigan?

I just received the nubby knit skirt and top in blk/white and I wanted to wear it as you styled it on Brenda with the wing colar shirt underneath. It didn’t work for me as the shirt sleeve creates bulk that makes the knit top sleeve too short at my wrist. Would you ever consider making a sleeveless version of the wing collar shirt just for using as a layering piece? I’ve given up wearing sleeveless tops but I’d buy one in every color and use it for layering. The fabric is great for holding the collar up.
Enjoyed you and Jac on FEW yesterday. Looking forward to your next show.

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

Dear Mary….I just checked it out and they do work very well….the TN is a bit more intense, but the blues are the same…..it also looks great with the Blue/Black Zebra coat.

      1. Mary in CT

        Louis,
Thanks so much for checking on this for me. I’ll be adding the lapis blue to my collection. Love the pale lilac TN that I recently received. Looking forward to cooler weather returning this year (75+ today here) so I can begin to wear my new things.

  10. Lyn

Louis, I have a question regarding my Plum Leather Jacket (which I love, by the way). I played the video, and the models are wearing the jacket open with the lapels turned back. I’d like to wear my jacket that way, so I can see my lovely Pale Lilac turtleneck. However, the lapels flop forward on my jacket. Do you have any suggestions on how to “train” the leather to fold back? Thanks much.

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

Dear Lyn…..that’s tricky….You have three choices, actually four…..you can keep working it with your hands and press it with your hands…..you can actually press it on an ironing board with a towel over it on med. heat….be very careful if you do this, you can bribng it to a cleaners and ask them if they can do it…..or leave it alone. If you press it…you may get a permanent crease.

  11. Tylerpoo

Louis, will there be a leather/faux leather skirt or pants in the future?

  12. MT

Please remake your gore skirts with whisper knit….I love mine but would love new ones and new colors. Thanks.

  13. CC

Louis not to forget–completely thrilled with my new zebra coat in blue. A knock out! Wore it last week with Linea black leggings & Linea black turtle neck & Linea signature earrings and my favorite Doc Martin boots. Wow.

  14. CC

I’m feeling very preppy this Autumn. An unusual choice for me–I’m usually much more a downtown artsy person grounded in black. But preppy I’m feeling and doing–fun! Loving the wing collar shirt & Kate shirt. Wishing for a stripped Linea Kate/Robyn shirt. Pink & white and blue & white.

  15. Joanne

    Louis
You have simplified my life totally. I am going to New York for 5 days week after next. I am taking a small carry on suitcase with almost all Linea -Zebra coat Tobacco, Black as well Tobacco swing sweaters, Clay retro v neck sweater, Topaz zip up jacquard jacket, Topaz zebra cardigan, Black whisper knit tank and cardigan and 2 pair Black Linea slim ankle pants. I will look stylish, unwrinkled and slim. Thank you for a brilliant fall collection.

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

Joanne…..all I can say is……WOW!!! you are going to look fabulous!

      1. Louis Dell'Olio

P.S…..the only thing I would add…if there is room….is a Black WK TN if you wear them……and maybe the Black WK scarf…..The weather is changing, and you can always wear the TN under the swing sweaters and jacket if necessary. It’s always good to keep the neck warm. In two weeks you never know what the weather will be…..I guess you’ll be paying the Big Apple a Halloween visit!

        1. Louis Dell'Olio

P.P.S.S……I hope you’re bringing you Linea Body Black and Tobacco tights! I know your wearing pants, but they will protect you if the temps drop, and they surly will in the evening. They also make the perfect shoe stuffers!…LOL

          1. Joanne

            Louis
You are so kind. Who wants to be cold when they look so good. I happen to own a black whisper knit turtleneck, whisper knit scarf as well as your black tights. There is plenty of room in my suitcase due to the packability of your clothing. I will include all of your suggestions for my trip. I live in Chicago so I know first hand what it means to feel cold. Thank you Louis.

  16. Merrylass

    Dear Louis,

Every time I tell myself that I have enough clothes from your line (I do work from home and don’t need a lot), you bring out new colours, new textures, and new designs! I love the feathered charcoal grey in the t-neck, v-neck, cardigan with black pockets, and ponte knit pants. I also love the swing tops and cardigans in new colours and the textured skirts and tops. For the sake of my poor wallet, please tell if there are any more unique pieces or fabrics that will be presented this year? I know I will be getting the Milano knit skirts in perfectly pink, black, and ivory as well as the boho skirt in perfectly pink (and hopefully aqua and lilac) but I don’t think they will be available before May. What do I need to watch out for???

    Many thanks!

    1. louis dell'olio

Dear Merrylass…..in Nov. and Dec there will be NINE items coming……most are new….one or two are reorders……some are from the Linea Leisure collection.

      1. Merrylass

Eeeekkk!!! My wallet is cringing already! Are these new items in new textures or fabrics? Any holiday wear???

        1. Louis Dell'Olio

Well that depends on what you mean Holiday wear. There are definitely things that can be dressed up for the holidays, but there isn’t anything glitzy or glittery.

          1. Merrylass

You are an adorable tease, Mr. Dell’Olio. I await your new pieces.

  17. luvitorleaveit

Hi Louis I just picked up my zebra coat in the grey/black and it is awesome! What timing too the temperature is dropping this weekend in NYC and hubby and I are going to a concert tomorrow night so I will definitely be wearing my new coat to keep me toasty warm. I’m glad I ordered my regular size xl it’s still roomy if I want to layer but I love everything about it the hood the pockets, length and it’s so soft. I also picked up the WK swing sweater in the tobacco and the violet which is a beautiful jewel tone color.

I can’t believe the color block sweater didn’t sell out that is another awesome high end piece they don’t know what their missing; I got the grey/blue but I just saw the alabaster popped back in my size so here comes another Linea piece on it’s way home to me!

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

Oooh, what concert are you going to? What are you planning to wear under your coat…..the violet sweater! And a black bottom?

      1. luvitorleaveit

Actually two Dionne Warwick tonight and Patti Labelle tomorrow and yes I am wearing the violet sweater with black pants or leggings and black boots tonight going to pick out my jewelry now probably your silvertone signature necklace with my white gold jewelry that will really pop against the violet I think.

          1. luvitorleaveit

Wow did I have a wonderful time at the concerts as well as wearing my zebra coat on the outside and Linea underneath all weekend long looking stylist as well as staying cozy warm in the night chill. I am so glad I got it before it sold out in my size.

            1. Louis Dell'Olio

I’m sure there were lots of admiring eyes on you! I know Patti and she’s such an incredible lady!

  18. breee

Dear Louis, I have enjoyed the color block cardigans and especially love that it looks elegant and lean, but has POCKETS yet so undetected. Could you possible do one using the heather charcoal grey that was offered this year? Thanks in advance.

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

Dear Bree, since this cardigan really only sold well in the black/alabaster, I don’t think it will be reordered.

      1. jmarie

That’s really a shame because it is awesome (in the burgundy/currant).

        1. louis dell'olio

It seems who ever bought it, no matter the size, liked it, but not enough gave it a try.

          1. breee

I am sorry to learn this. I bought the black/alabaster and the burgundy/currant, but I wasn’t sure what grey/blue the other would work with. I do not wear white shirts! But I have the heather charcoal pieces and wanted a color block cardigan to go with those.

          2. jmarie

That currant is a beautifully flattering shade. I’d love to see it in a standard length, jewel neck, long sleeve cardigan–could work as a set with the ss piece. And a nice color to work through Spring.

  19. Shari

    Goodmorning Louis!

I just have to write in and tell you my wonderful experience!
I ordered your new leggings in black. I put them on this morning
with a simple “sweatshirt” type top.( It’s Saturday and it’s cold in Michigan)
Came out to the living room where my husband was drinking coffee
and reading the news. He took one look at me and said,”wow!you have
lost some weight!” I said, ” no–not an ounce, but thank you, it’s the
leggings from Louis.” He said”order more”.
Now ,I’m not a small gal, the bottom side of a 1x, and I still get a compliment?!!
    Wow!!!
The leggings are a hit. I LOVE them!!! Thankyou

  20. MadameDuFiffers

    Dear Louis,
Is it too early to say if there will be a second reorder of the Linea Leisure raglan top in NEW colors? I have 2. Wore one today and it is so comfortable and chic for casual wear. I’m hoping! Hope you and Jac are doing well; have a great evening.
    Madame

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

Yes, it is too early. I will be showing it again this Monday on Few at 6am

      1. MadameDuFiffers

Thanks. I’m off to order the violet before it sells out on Monday!

  21. Ann

Just to let you know, last night Donna Karan was on Watch What Happens Live on Bravo. They showed pictures from her book and you were in one that was shown. It was a great picture of you. She did point you out and mentioned you by name.

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

Yes…I knew she was going to be on. Jac and I saw her earlier in the evening at her book launch in the city and then went out with friends for dinner.

  22. Michelle

    Louis —

I just received my zebra coat. I ordered the tobacco. The coat is everything you said it was and more. Or as my 12 year old niece said, “OMG, that coat rocks.” I am going to be the sassiest and most stylish girl around.

You’ve you hit another home run with this year’s Fall collection. I’ve loved all of the pieces that I’ve received. And yes, there were quite a few of them. LOL! The trench, the motto jackets, the new nubby top/skirt, the hosiery, the WK pieces, as well as all of the other new items, are simply wonderful.

Thanks for taking me from “what am I going to wear today” to “what LDO pieces aren’t I going to wear today.”

I hope that you and Jac enjoy a beautiful Fall weekend.

    — Michelle

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

Dear Michelle….your niece is so right….you are going to rock! Just wait for the stares and compliments!

  23. Susan (aka carlytwila)

Hi from sunny CA! I have to share a story….My hubby and I were shopping in Mill Valley this morning. We were in a little she-she boutique and I was stoppedx by a lcal and then again by the shopkeeper to complement my silver palm fronds and fish necklace! It really is incredible how people stop me when I wear your creations! BTW, the black open front whisper knit cardi is stunning with the blue textured knit skirt and top! Thank yiu for that suggestion! Perfection!
    Susan

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

Dear Susan…love to hear good stories! I’m so glad you like the cardigan with the skirt and top

I’ll try to answer details now, so I won’t forget. The cruise goes from Lyon to Avignon, or in the reverse, and is called “Portraits of Southern France”. If you go to Viking River Cruises web sight, you will find it there. The ship is called the Viking Hermod. You can do an either/or 3 day pre and post stays in Paris and the French Rivera, which we chose not to do, but are very popular, and the people we talked to who did those loved them.

We flew into Lyon and out of Marseille. We booked our flights over and back with Viking, because they provide transport to the ship, if you do. You can also book your own flights, and get to and from the ship on your own. We had a couple of choices of airlines and chose Lufthansa, out of Philadelphia. We changed planes in Frankfort, Germany, which I have to say is the worst airport I have ever been in–it seemed like miles from one gate to the other. Then we had to take a bus for what seemed like 2 miles to another part of this sprawling complex. The airline itself was very nice, but you might want to upgrade to Business or First Class–there was no chance to nap on the flight. But everything else was wonderful. The trip back to Philly was with the same thing, only we flew out of Marseilles. We flew into the Philadelphia airport the same day the Pope flew out, so most of the roads were tied up or closed. But at least we could get into the airport.

All in all it was an amazing, wonderful experience.

    Penny

  25. georgiapeach

I just read Ginny’s message about her cruise, which reminded me I had not let you know the outcome of my French trip. In a word, it was one of the best things I have ever done. The scenery, the food and the ambiance was perfect. The weather couldn’t have been nicer–it is definitely the right time to go. It rained for about 10 minutes one day, but we just ran under the cover to wait, and it was soon back to sunshine. I loved the ship. We had French classics in the wonderful restaurant, and our cabin was right next to the main reception area, but we heard no noise in our cabin. All in all, I would do it again in a heartbeat. Seeing Roman temples and ruins up to 1500 years old was amazing. A lot of the area are small farms on deeply high, terraced hills. You definitely ought to put it on you must-see list.

Like Ginny, I had a lot of Linea in my luggage, and it served me well. I wore the “French Sailor” sweaters in the navy/red and the navy/ivory, and got lots of compliments, as was true of the other things. Thank you for helping to make my trip so memorable.

    Penny

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

Sounds great….now some details….what cruise Line and name of ship……where did it start and end? How did you get to the starting point, if not Paris, and how did you get home from ending point?

  26. Ginny

    Good Morning Louis,
I just got back from a 10 day river cruise from Vienna to Prague and my suitcase was packed with all Linea except for two items. I had so many compliments! Your clothes are not only stylish but comfortable and pack beautifully. I just wanted to thank you for sharing your talent with us. Also, the black ponte fingertip jacket (from last year) was perfect for the weather. I just layered a wk sweater each day under it along with a scarf and it was the perfect weight! I hadn’t worn it as an outer weight piece before and it worked perfectly!

    1. louis dell'olio

Dear Ginny……sounds like a wonderful trip….How was the weather this time of year?

      1. Ginny

Louis, the weather was sweater weather(low 60s) until we got to Prague then it turned chilly. Temps were in the high 40s low 50s there. The Autumn colors along the Danube were splendid.

  27. debby

Just received the textured top and skirt and Hubby gave it 2 thumbs up! Would the black Multi Shape Bead Torsade in black be a good option too? Thanks soooo much!!

    1. louis dell'olio

Dear debby……Hubby has good taste……Maria was wearing the Black Torsade with the Merlot nubby top and skirt. She’s in the skirt video. It looks great with it!

      1. debby

Yes it does, but I bought the Black and Cream version – will be wearing it with a very similar hat too – is it too blah?

        1. Louis Dell'Olio

No no no…it’s not blah at all. I only mentioned Maria so yo could see how nice the necklace works with the neckline.

  28. luvitorleaveit

As I wait patiently for my goodies to arrive especially the zebra coat which I see is getting rave reviews on the Q boards I’ve been wearing my black quilted jacket almost all week with different scarves as my outerwear. I see a lot of quilted jackets but none like this. I would love more dresses and some dressy pieces too but I guess now that some companies have been promoting casual business dress for quite a few years that’s the way now. I am hoping to see some more nice dresses for next spring/summer like A255151 what an awesome perfect dress.

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

I do have a few dresses for next spring, but very few. The problem with dresses and dressy clothes is they are the highest returns. There is no point in me to continue to follow the same oath down the maze if they keep getting returned to the point that there is no chance of a reorder.

      1. luvitorleaveit

Thanks for the effort Louis dresses/skirts is all that I wear in the spring/summer.

  29. Diamondscribe

Louis, I just received my new “cady” asymmetrical tops (A267880). I love this material! The blue is such a beautiful color. I bought that and the black. I would like to request a pant done in this fabric, preferably a wide/straight leg pant. Such pants paired with the shirt would be the perfect party outfit. I put the black open over my Linea sequin shell and so wished I had the pants to match the cady top as an outfit.
Also, I wanted to tell you how much I love the new poly pants that are now sold out except a handful of 2’s and 4’s. By time I got the perfect size nailed down with the gray, there were no others to order. I’ve been stalking these and was fortunate this week to snag a black pair. Hooray! I have to shorten them quite a bit, but the fabric reminds me so much of my Roma Ponte treasure pieces that it’s worth the extra cost and effort. I hope these have such a great track record that they get reordered in more colors and both lengths.

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

I think you are talking about the boot cut rayon span pant not poly.I too have high hopes for these pants…..but you never know……let’s keep our fingers crossed that the returns are low.

  30. Bcm

    Louis ,
I am having lunch at the Boathouse today. I will be wearing my color block cardigan in alabaster and black, with the matching SS alabaster top and black slim fit ankle pants and your jet black beads. Tres chic non? My daughter is getting married next month and the reception will be at the Boathouse. If you had an evening wear collection, I am certain that I would be wearing one of your creations as the Mother of the Bride!

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

Enjoy the last of the warm weather. I wish the buyers would buy some of the dressy pieces I sketch for them, but they just pass them over. I guess they feel it’s not an important enough category for Linea??!!I used to always offer something dressy each season, but now the emphasis is on casual.

      1. Goldie76

I am sorry for the omission of your dressy items as well. Not to bore you, but I will state again that I abhor this tectonic fashion shift to casual wear. Robin Givhan, the “Washington Post’s” fashion editor, addressed this issue last week in a post from Paris. Apparently the grand fashion houses will focus on super-fancy tee shirts and unusual casual clothes. Also thrown into the mix were original-looking tennis (casual) shoes. I’m no fashion maven, but to me this is a disaster. You know what I hope? I hope this is a phase, just like the casual, beach weddings of the 1960s that ultimately gave way to the opulent and splendiferous weddings of the 1980s. I hope the pendulum swings. Not interested in a super-fab sweat shirt, no matter how glitzy it is, for fashionable girls-on-the-town lunch. Can you sense I am ticked off?

          1. louis dell'olio

Finally got around to reading the article….very interesting…..thank you

        1. Louis Dell'Olio

Dear Goldie….I don’t disagree with you. If you look at then history of fashion…more so dressing….since the Industrial Revolution the way women dress has made very quick changes. Women in the work place changed the needs of women, the 20’s and 30’s liberated women’s dress, the 50’s after the war was more conservative and put women back into constructed undergarments to give the Dior shape, and then there were the 60’s where all hell broke loose and it has never been the same. A more liberal attitude in every way we live, a more relaxed approach to dressing, “casual Fridays at the work place” etc etc has brought us to where we are now. The Baby Boomers are retiring and want comfortable easy clothes. It is my job to make sure this new relaxed attitude doesn’t dissolve in sloppy careless dressing. Of course baby boomers have a history of dressing well, and I don’t worry about them. It’s the new generation, that doesn’t have history, that I shocks me more.

          1. Goldie76

I appreciate your astute reply, Louis. You have the historical view and the long view. Although I am an outlier when it comes to being a Baby Boomer (born three years sooner than their start date), by working longer than my immediate contemporaries, I feel a part of their wave. Glad to know that the group likes to look good! Soon enough, I will need more of your spiffy “relaxed attitude” clothing than the skirts, jackets and various tops I now favor — and I realize that. No better place to shop than Atelier Linea. If anyone can make us have a sharp look, it is you.

      2. Bcm

Keep on trying . Maybe one may win them over. Linea ladies love to dress up too, not just the twenty something’s. And we have the discretionary income to purchase your creations.

  31. Goldie76

    Dear Louis,

Count me among those who have fallen hard for the Textured Knit Midi Skirts (A268135). I ordered the black and the merlot and am delighted that I did! Joining the chorus of those who extol your fabric choices. This fabric is “nubby but not chubby.” Not svelte of build, I worried that the nubbiness would bulk me up somewhat. Not the case. You thrill me with your creations. Thanks so much!

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

I always new the fabric was deceiving, and that many would wrongly assume that a nubby textured fabric would be bulky, and indeed some are. This happens to be quite flat because of the thick and thin yarn which allows it to have the desired texture without an all over thick look. The minute I saw it on Maria I knew it would be good for my larger Gals.

      1. Goldie76

She is the one who convinced me, too. When I saw her, I told myself that I could do it. What would we do without Brunette Maria?

      2. ceicei

Love the nubby two-pieced set. Bought the black and ordered the merlot. Fabulous fit. The merlot blew me away. Over the past few years, I have bought so many items I can’t even give you a number. When I like something, I buy multiples, ie, trench, leather jackets, etc. But your two-piece dressing fits me to perfection,

        1. Louis Dell'Olio

Dear ceicei….so happy to hear you’re enjoying your clothes!

  32. Bonnie

Louis, will either of these items be coming back with new colors: cotton/span v-neck tunic with pockets; or faux Shetland wool v-neck sweater? I need more, please!!

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

Dear Bonnie…if it’s the cotton/span V-neck tunic I think it is….no it’s not coming back, but the Shetland V neck is….in the original grey. Persian blue and the new deep rose.

      1. bonnie

Thanks Louis! Deep rose sounds perfect!!

  33. ChicShopper

I am in love with the Burgundy Trench coat! I went back for the Navy which has popped up in my size woohoo!

Maybe it’s too soon to ask, but do you think there will be a reorder next spring or fall for additional colors?

    Thanks!

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

Way too soon…..I won’t know for months. They wait for the return % to come in to decide.

  34. kate

Went on WL for tobacco zebra coat. Have this top in sienna (A237559); betting you no longer have sample but do you think the browns will be okay together? Love the idea of a lace top with the zebra!

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

I actually do have the sample in both colors….can’t let go of them…LOL…..I wish the colors did work, but the lace is more golden and the Zebra is more russet……not wonderful.

      1. Kate

        Oh well. Thanks for checking.

  35. Jane J.

Hi Louis, Just wanted to tell you how much I like the new cady asymmetrical top A267880. The fabric is just luscious! Feels like a dreamy heavy silk. With the princess seams, the fit is spot on. I’ve always liked the Robyn shirt much better than the Kate for this reason. I also like that the hemline is not too pronounced — just floats lightly over the hips. I purchased the alabaster which is lovely.

  36. NJlady

    Dear Louis & Judy,
I love the pants but don’t know how to care for them. Did manufacturer say anything?
Judy did they seem longer after washing???? Not sure what to do – please advise?

  37. Judy

I love my new ponte bootcut pants. I know you were alerted to some having stretching problems but I have to tell you I got 6 pair, 4 black and 2 grey and mine are perfect! No stretching or shrinking problems with any of mine! All of mine have been washed and hung to dry and they are all still 32 perfect inches! As these are almost gone, I am keeping my fingers crossed for a reorder. I want to put my suggestion in for the new colors of tobacco and olive! Many of us could sure use these colors! Thank you for the wonderful offerings!

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

Dear Judy….glad to hear you are enjoying your pants….this stretching thing is a mystery to me since these pants were “garment wash” tested, and there were no problems…..your pants are made out of the same fabric everyone else’s is….so I have no answer and neither does my manufacturer.

      1. LauraL

        Hi

I had mine shortened to 28.5 by a seamstress. Coming out of the washer the pants were back to approx 32 inches. Given I was on a business trip I couldn’t do much experimenting as I needed to wear them the next day so I put them in the dryer on low. Coming out of the dryer they were back to the right length. The rest was a little smaller but once on it was back to prior to the cleaning. It may have beenok if I hung to dry but wouldnt have had access to a dryer if it was not ok.

        Laura

  38. MadameDuFiffers

    Hi Louis,

    1. Will the ENR seam front tunic be re-ordered, and, if so, what new colors?

    2. Is it too early to know if the ENR swing TN will be reordered in new colors?

    3. Do you have other items coming up in the original ENR and/or the mid-weight (love them both)?

    Thanks!

    Madame

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

Dear Madam….I’m not sure which sweater you are referring to with your first question. A style number will help….it’s too early to know if the TN Swing will be reordered, and quite frankly without it getting any time I don’t know how they are going to decide, and the fact that it is avail in two of the three colors makes me doubt it…..there aren’t any other Wk sweaters for this fall winter season.

      1. MadameDuFiffers

The first sweater referred to is A262032.

        Thanks for your quick response!

Hope you and Jac are having a great day.

        Madame

        1. Louis Dell'Olio

Thanks we were in the city today….that WK tunic sweater will not be coming back…

  39. Wendy/DE

    Dear Louis,
I just received your Textured Long Sleeve Knit Top and Skirt A268133,A2681355. The fit is spot on, the fabric is indescribably wonderful, and to say that I think you hit a homerun with these creations would be a huge understatement! These are so unique, versatile, stylish and designer perfect! Thank you for always searching for unique and different fabrics and then creating such lovely fashions. To the ladies, my advice is to try these if you have not already purchased them! I guarantee that once they land on your doorstep, you will be glad you did. And, yes, I will be sure to leave a review on the QVC website! My pleasure!

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

Dear Wendy…..I am happy to hear you like the nubby tweed. What color did you get.

      1. Wendy/DE

I got the black 2 piece and the merlot top to wear with all my black skirts and pants. Still debating on picking up the merlot skirt. Love them both!

    2. kate

LDO, another rave for the nubby knit set. I bought the black and white and have now ordered the Merlot. Very slimming and looks super spendy. And, the tuxedo tights are so cool; would swear they were Fogal costing 60.00!

I know you didn’t show them this way, but the black and white set looks mighty glam with the grey zebra coat.

Loving this entire textural, mixed pattern look this season–I mean nubby with zebra with striped hose? Right off the runway!!

      1. Louis Dell'Olio

Sounds great….I wish I could show endless possibilities, but I don’t have enough models….or clothes. I show what I can and hope you all take it from there and put your own personalities to it……I know you’ll come up with some fabulous combinations.

  40. Karen in WA

I just want to add another “Thank You” for the great new pieces. I am addicted to Whisper Knit. I am very sensitive to anything scratchy, and I feel so nice and comfortable in WK. I received my tobacco swing and perfectly pink TN together and I want everyone to know how beautiful those colors are together. If you get to re-do the color block cardigan, I think perfectly pink and tobacco would be wonderful. I am hoping for more tobacco, maybe pants in the future? My zebra coat is on the way, can hardly wait!

  41. Kathy

Louis, saw your reply to “blind dogs” about swing style. Do you know when will the rayon/spandex swing top be on air at QVC?

Also, did I hear correctly that the swing sweater will not be back this year? I missed the presentation and need a 1x, and there is no waitlist beyond size large.

Thanks for any information you can provide.

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

Dear Kathy, as there are no one hour shows planned for Nov. I do not know exactly when it will be avail. I will have some outside hits, which means appearances on FEW, AM Style etc. They may even just post some items as OLO [on line only] selling without any air time at all. I have no idea what the plan is???!! As fot the swing sweater….that’s it for the year, and I don’t know when thwey will reorder it, but if and when they do it will be for next year at this time I would guess.

      1. Kathy

Thanks so much. I will just keep checking on QVC.com for new items.

        1. Qulia

Kathy, there are some cases where buyers will have second thoughts and return an item. Those who love the item will snap it up when it pops into inventory. We Linea Ladies call this “stalking” and I hope you are successful in your stalking of this item. Remember that we are in an extended return time frame — QVC buyers can return items purchased now in January. So, it could pop up at any time. Many of us have had success with this. Good luck!

  42. Judy Ann

    Dear Louis,
Thank you for the ZebraS (blue and tobacco). It is like slipping on an old friend. Not complicated. Fits beautifully with and without a suede/leather blazer underneath. Never leave the house without a blazer.
    Thank you, thank you.

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

Dear Judy…that’s great news! PLEASE let the ladies on the Linea Forum know your opinion, and don’t forget to leave your review on the Linea site….it’s important!

  43. Cela

    Dear Louis,
Just to say…everything has reached new heights. The wool jersey hoodie and Leather Lapel Jacket were my favorites. But have to say, the WK Superstars (best yet designs), your elegant jewelry and those new outerwear choices left me in a lurch (as usual) trying to decide!

Oh, and those tuxedo tights, SPEAK FOR THEMSELVES!

  44. CC

Louis, please one request only from me for Fall/Winter 2016–a suede vest with whisper knit sides and the double zipper detail. It is the item I truly wish I had for so many outfits. My Linea suede vest w/ whisper knit is singing to me in my dreams.

    1. louis dell'olio

Dear CC….is is a sketch I would gladly submit, but I can’t guarantee they would pick it. I did one years ago.

    2. Anonymous

I hopened you don’t mind my jumping in here…but there are some suede with knit back vests on eBay in a ‘raspberry’ color. Currently in xs, small and medium, no two way zipper but very very nice. See A 09485 for the style reference. This may be the vintage vest Louis was referring to!

  45. Barbara C

    Dear Louis,

My husband and I recently attended an evening event and I wore A265606 the textured cap sleeve dress in black; the black herringbone tights; the gold wind chime necklace and the gold curb link hoop earrings. I received numerous compliments–some from strangers. Someone even asked if we own a clothing boutique! Well, I probably could open one with all of my Linea pieces! Thank you for your lovely designs.

  46. Grace

    Dear Louis,

I also wanted to add my praise and thanks for the wonderful shows and your amazing fall collection. I counted 36 Linea clothing and jewelry items I purchased since September–an all time record for me! Your trench coats, moto jacket and quilted jackets are all extraordinary, and I’m now awaiting delivery of the grey zebra. The long block cardigans, the cool hooded zip dress & striped pant, boot cut pants, zip cardigan with “leather” pockets, the nubby knit midi skirt & top, the gorgeous new alabaster and oatmeal neutrals and the simple, elegant jewelry–the single bar necklace, autumn leaves suite, and much more–I love all I purchased. I also plan to wear the new lilac TN when I hit the slopes this winter. I’m not yet fully retired, so I need work, leisure and “date night with hubby” clothing and with all my coordinating Linea, I always feel put together for meetings, travel or even running errands. I’ve never looked so good, if I say so myself!! And, I thank you.

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

Dear Grace…..I am very happy to hear you are so pleased with your clothing and jewelry… I not only try to make everyone’s lives more beautiful….but easier, and simpler, which is something we all want.

      1. Goldie76

“I not only try to make everyone’s lives more beautiful….but easier, and simpler, which is something we all want.”

In a nutshell, that is what you do, Louis. You have simplified the choosing, coordinating and the many other challenges that confront us when we put together a wardrobe or update what we already own. And of course, shopping from home has eliminated the shopping trip and search. Thank you so much.

        1. Goldie76

          Dear Louis,

I feel it necessary that I let you know that I once enjoyed the search for new fashions and hitting one store after the other. Taking after my mother, I do have that “shopping gene.” However, I find that I no longer enjoy the “search and find” mission as I once did; don’t know why, I just don’t. Because of this new factor in my being, I truly appreciate all that you do.

          1. Louis Dell'Olio

I understand what you are saying…….shopping has become such a chore that we both put off when ever we can. It’s almost sad in a way. Department stores are becoming dinosaurs and the shopping experience is not what it used to be.

      2. Grace

Like Goldie, I’m a bit weary of the “hunt” and appreciate the ease and simplicity of Linea. That you give us styling advice and examples for each piece of your clothing is beyond generous and makes a significant difference in helping us look beautiful and streamline our lives. I so appreciate all you do!

  47. Dariann

    Dear Louis,

Thoroughly enjoyed your shows and am anxiously awaiting the arrival of my goodies. I know that the blue and black zebra coat will be stunning with all of my black but how does it look with indigo jeans? My plan is to make the coat casual with your black and white turtlenecks paired with jeans. Please let me know your thoughts about this. Of course, I’ll be wearing black boots with the outfit.

    Thanks,
    Dariann

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

Dear Dariann…if you really want it to be casual…it doesn’t matter what color your indigo jeans are…..you just put them on and go especially with black and white TNs…. they should be great with it……if you are very picky it would matter what color blue your jeans are….there are always black jeans if you’re not happy with your particular color of indigo

  48. ChicShopper

    Dear Louis,

Ordered the Blue and the Tobacco Zebra coat and the tobacco tights!

I missed out on any of the tobacco tops. Do you have suggestion for another color top, could even be a short sleeve shirt or tank and then I would just wear a black shrug over with a black skirt and the tobacco tights and tobacco coat.
I saw I think nutmeg shirt or topaz for example.

    Thanks!
P.S. Can’t wait for my goodies to arrive!!!

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

The CLAY works perfectly! The TH A72448 works great or the V-neck L/S WK with the rib detail which I know is still avail. You could always layer with the sleeveless black WK mock neck.

      1. ChicShopper

Thanks! I’ll go look for clay!

  49. Nancy in the TN mountains

    Ode to Olio
Louis, how many ways do we love you? A snazzy hooded zip dress, a fab motto jacket, sweet pleated cardigan(s), layered tunic sweater, boot cut pant(s), chic zip cardi with “leather” pockets, everything in alabaster, nubby knits, knit and “leather” blazer…….and maybe more. This beautiful fall collection is one of my favorites. I had intended to make only a few strategic purchases this fall but just couldn’t do it! I’m a retired architect and now only need a simple casual wardrobe – but I look great dressed in LDO when running errands. As others have commented, I loved the shows and how beautifully the items are coordinated and presented. Will the alabaster color work with the black and white nubby tweed? Many thanks.

    1. louis dell'olio

Dear Nancy….I am so glad you like the fall selection…I hope you are as happy with them when you receive them….please don’t forget to leave your reviews on the Linea site as well as the Linea Forum…..it does matter…………Does the alabaster work with the black/white nubby tweeds? In today’s world where you can mix anything together, or so it is professed…..I’m still a purist….I would prefer, black or a color that comes closer to the white nubs…then put any color you want with it….green, turquoise, yellow, topaz, red, pink, aqua,Lapis, malachite, royal etc. etc. etc……any color will work with the tweed….even the tiered sweater in Black and Teal or any of the swing color sweaters in both styles, but Alabaster isn’t my favorite.

      1. Nancy in the TN mountains

Louis, Thanks for the tips. Forgot that I also ordered the trench, quilted jacket(s) and new hoodie. Loved your pairing of the oatmeal hoodie with the alabaster jacket. I’ve been very remiss about doing reviews – so I’ll get to work!

  50. NJlady

    Hi Louis,
The shows were wonderful as usual. Their is a thread on the forum about the new boot leg pants stretching out in length several inches when washed. I assume you and your team tried washing before. Some are putting in the dryer and that seems to get back the 30-32″ inseam.
Are you aware of this? Please read what is being said
    Thanks

    1. louis dell'olio

Dear NJlady….I am not aware of this problem, and it would surprise me very much. There are so many tests that every garment has to go through before it passes QVC’s standards, and wash tests are just one of them. This is not my area of expertise, and it is all handled between my manufacturer and QVC. I will certainly look at this thread, and ask my manufacturer to look at it also. Are there many complaints or just one?

      1. NJlady

Several – its QVC – blogs under your heading
        Thanks for looking into this

  51. Cheri

Louis, The shows were wonderful and I enjoyed every minute if them I ordered the oatmeal hooded sweater and the new cady shirt in alabaster My only complaint is that the hour flew by so quickly I could have listened to your descriptions of the clothes and watched how you coordinated all of the outfits for a lot longer than the two one hour shows. I thank you for what you do for all of us oh almost forgot I love new grey pants Again thank you and God bless you and Jac when she was on in the nubby knit outfit she looked absolutely beautiful.

    1. louis dell'olio

Dear Cheri, I am glad you enjoyed the shows and I will certainly pass along your compliment to Jac.

  52. blinddogs

    Dear Louis,

WONDERFUL shows, and I of course ordered in advance all available “swing” sweaters. Do I remember correctly that you have said you will have a “swing” tunic top in the rayon/span fabrication? And if so, when available and what colors might you be bringing? I am absolutely in love with this ‘swing’ style and would welcome it in any and all fabrics and colors you might choose to bless us with.– Blinddongs

    1. louis dell'olio

It is a new version of the rayon/span jersey tank with the swing bottom that came in black, gray, navy etc. This ne version has long sleeves and will be in Black, light raspberry as opposed to the darker WK and a slate blue.

  53. Joanne

    Hi Louis
Your shows were wonderful yesterday. I awakened early prior to your first show to buy all of my new Linea. One of the items I purchased was your new cady shirt in Alabaster. Did I dream this or are you offering pants in the spring in Alabaster? Will there be any other offering i alabaster?

    1. louis dell'olio

Dear Joanne…you didn’t dream it and the answers to your questions are…yes…and….yes.

      1. blinddogs

Be still my heart… I LOVE the Alabaster color and have ordered everything you have offered in this shade, including this wonderful new cady shirt. Are the pants in the new cady fabric?– blinddogs

        1. louis dell'olio

Dear Blinddogs…..no the spring pant is in one of my newest favorite fabrics…..a gauze crepe…it’s wonderful, and hopefully if the colors come out close enough you will be able to wear them together.

  54. Chris/Jazzmom

    Good morning Louis,

Great shows from yesterday! I want to ask when the faux Shetland wool pullovers will become available in the new color Antique Rose. I saw it was entered into the system a while back (on waitlist), I ordered it to have it cancelled on me a few months later. Will this be available before the winter starts and will there be other colors besides Antique Rose in that style pullover (A259108)?

    Regards,
    Chris

    1. louis dell'olio

Dear Chris….as of now it’s scheduled for Nov. delivery, but since it’s a reorder and nort a new style, they have been posting them as soon as they are stocked…..so it can be sooner….the Grey and Persian [Prussian?] Blue have also been reordered with the new Antique Rose.

      1. Chris/Jazzmom

Fantastic, I’ll be on the lookout for them. I have the reordered colors from last year already. The charcoal gray is ‘the new black’ for me; and the Persian blue is a very pretty blue shade.

        Regards,
        Chris

  55. Cathy in PA

Wonderful shows today, Louis … beautiful designs, entertaining and enlightening commentary … so much fun!

One question if you have time: I ordered the Swing Sweater in a number of the new colors of course LOL … one being Merlot. I also ordered the new Nubby Knit pieces in Merlot tweed. Do you think the colors are compatible enough to wear the Merlot Swing Sweater with the Nubby skirt in Merlot?

    Thanks! Cathy in PA

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

Dear Kathy….yes they work well together

      1. Cathy in PA

Thanks Louis! I hoped the pieces would play nicely together. Those 3 Merlot pieces, black pants, Linea black leather jacket and black sequin skirt will make the core of a perfect late fall travel wardrobe 🙂

    2. Tylerpoo

Cathy, I was thinking the same and ordered the merlot shirt to wear with the merlot swing sweater. Can’t wait to get i!

  56. Kris

Hats Off to you, Louis! Never before have I felt compelled to write someone in praise of pants, but the new boot-cut ponte pants might well be my favorite pants you’ve ever designed, and that’s saying something. I have been sitting most all day at work, and they have not wrinkled or gotten baggy, and truly, I have worn yoga pants that are not this comfortable. Glad I got multiples of the black while I could. If the Q doesn’t reorder these, I’m staging a sit-in and wearing these pants.

    1. louis dell'olio

Dear Kris….your message is music to my ears. I can’t believe how well they have done without any air time….and with just word of mouth….which after all is the best endorsement…….happy ladies.

    2. Marie

I must have gotten a different “pant/fabric. received these in black and loved the feel when
I took them out of the bag. After washing (cold /gentle) and hang to dry wore them (sitting) for 15 min. and wrinkled terribly across the front. Wanted the gray as well but now am hesitant….

  57. Lee

Love the berets….are they part of your line…….thanks

    1. louis dell'olio

No…..Over the years I’ve tried to get them to buy them, but so far….it’s a no go!I have gotten some on line…..just google “berets”, or “French Berets”.

  58. Chris S.

Help, Help! I took a chance and ordered 2 pairs of the leggings. I’ve never worn leggings and I’m wondering what to wear on my feet with my shoes or boots? It appears Jac was wearing sheer black stockings with her heels. Do you wear trouser socks, boot socks, pantyhose, etc. when it is too cold to go bare foot? This might seem like a silly question, but I like a finished look. It seems like you might get a line with a knee high sock.

    1. louis dell'olio

Dear Chris…..all of the above…..it depends what shoe apparel you’re wearing…..Jac always wears socks with her boots….that’s what she had on with her boots and the Merlot blazer with the faux leather details…black socks……..in the winter sometimes nude tights with a dressier pointy toe pump….it all works.

  59. Shari

    Louis,
Watching the show at present. Saw the WK collared sweater, which I have both black and ivory. Question is, what pants did Brenda have on in the winter white? Available?
Have been looking for winter white TROUSERS seems like forever.

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

Vintage….only avail in pewter and Aqua…..Ivory sold out.

  60. Maria

Louis the top that need to know is A267880 , I wear you’re 2X in your whisper knit , all the pieces are 2X which size should I order I am more hip that bust I think that I have in the widest part of the bust 49 and the hips are 57 , l do not like it too big but no to tight either , HELP PLEASE.

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

Dear Maria …if you have been a 2x consistently than I would say stay with your size.

      1. maria

The problem that this top comes in number size like 22, 24, 26, I was thinking to order 24. What do you think? I need room on my hips.

        1. louis dell'olio

Maria….I’d only be guessing blindly. I think you would be the better judge

  61. Maria

Louis, I have two questions. First, do you think the Raspberry WK pieces can pair well with the walnut WK pencil skirt? Second, what are the differences in fit between the WK pencil skirt and WK pull-on skirt? I am debating picking up the latter in Coffee Bean. I already have the pencil skirt in Walnut.

    Thanks.

Dear Rochelle ….the walnut and raspberry will work very well together….I would recommend the matching walnut tights. There is very little difference in the fit. They are both easy skirts. The difference is the length. The walnut is longer than the coffee bean.

Thank you. It’s good to know on the differing lengths. I found the skort hit me at the most unflattering part of my leg, right where my knee widens, but at 4’11” the pencil skirt is quite long. However the shape is extremely flattering. I think the moss crepe skirt has been my perfect length so far.

FYI…..The WK skirts can be shortened. Jac had her black skirts shortened and they came out very well.

    Louis,

Do you think the fit of the new tweed skirt and top will be similar to the textured knit pull-on skirt and top? (A265623 and A265620) Thank you. ~ Barbara

Hi Louis by any chance does the blue in A267880 go with the grey/blue cardigan. I know computer monitors show colors differently but was just wondering they seem so close.
