On our late afternoon cruise we were very lucky to see a group of elephants including a tiny baby that just SWAM ACROSS THE LINYANTI RIVER! It amazes me how many elephants are killed every year by poachers, even though they can be shot dead for doing it. The little elephant was pushed along by a teenager, maybe a sister. They were also protecting it from crocs. Peter told us on rare occasions a croc will bite off part of a baby elephants trunk if it's alone in the water……This was a great surprise and was the highlight of this boat trip!

……………..On our boat ride with Peter and See we were lucky enough to see a group of elephants swim across the WIDE LINYANTI RIVER! With them was a tiny baby. I don’t know how this little adorable thing could swim across this river. It did have a teenage elephant, maybe a sister, pushing it along, and it was always between this elephant and the others for protection. Peter told us on rare occasions a croc will bite off part of a baby elephants trunk!!! I find it horrendous that poaches are still killing huge amounts of elephants yearly even though they know they could be shot to death if caught………but on this trip they all made it across safely, and off they went on their merry way…..baby and all!
