“MONDAY, THE DEPARTURE”

…………….”Parting is such sweet sorrow”…….The weekend was over and it was time for the girls to leave……Franco had stopped by to say hello…..He loves them and loves to speak Italian with Chantal. He also gave them fresh lettuce he had just picked from his garden!…..We went to “The Sugar Bowl” for breakfast…..It has new owners, and they have made some drastic changes. They no longer have all of the seasonal decorations on the walls, in the window and hanging from the ceiling. This was a big draw especially for the kids who would come with their parents. Stripped down it’s a little sad. The good thing is they have the same cook so the food is still IMHO, the best breakfast in town. Unfortunately, the waiter, who I know for years, told me the business has been very slow. I guess the regular customers weren’t happy with the change…..I hope word gets around that the food is still very good, and they start to come back…..After all is said and done….it is all about the food!……Then back to Resort Dell’Olio where we packed the car with all of their new goodies, and off they went with their HORN BLARING!!!!…….All of a sudden the commotion was over……all was quiet, and back to the way it was……I do miss the commotion.

“DAY TWO”

………………SUNDAY…DAY TWO was just splendid!……The weather couldn’t have been better…….I had also planned with Lou to come over and shoot some new Jewelry Videos early Sunday morning. Angela and Chantal were sweet enough to be in them….I gave Chantal the new PEARL and TOGGLE NECKLACE with the matching EARRING to wear. All of the style numbers are on my jewelry site at QVC……”Linea Jewelry”…..She wore it with the RED BOHO skirt worn as a dress. She looked GREAT!…….Afterwards we just spent the day laying in the sun [with plenty of sun block]….eating grapes, drinking cold white wine, and listening to wonderful music…..Rufus’ album BLOOM is one of my favorites…..I made a late brunch reservation at “THE RESTAURANT” in Rowayton Ct…..It’s right on the water, and they have great fish dishes….We all ordered the same thing….”Fish and Chips”……George was planning to stop by after lunch with his 4 year old son Stephanos. The girls wanted to get him some presents for him to play with so earlier we went off to CVS…..We got a beach ball, a bat and whiffle ball….lots of tiny toy trucks and cars…..and FOUR WATER GUNS……I’ll give you one guess which was his favorite!!!….though I must say he loved everything….Water guns are FUN….and SAFE!!!…Sorry, we were having too much fun and I forgot to take pictures!….Afterwards….the real fun began! I previously had Lou help me get BOXES of samples from my storage facility, and it was time for the three of us to open them and go through everything. It had been so many years since they were packed I didn’t even remember what was in them even thought they were all labeled. There were so many Anne Klein samples mixed with Linea…..it was fun to reminisce…….It was getting dark and we decided to call it a night…..It had been a long day in the sun, and it  can make you tired even though we didn’t do much……Chantal went to sleep, but Angela was wide awake, I think from the Espresso Martinis at lunch! So was I….We decided to watch an old Rock Hudson/Doris Day movie that Angela hadn’t seen……..1959 “Pillow Talk”…….I hadn’t seen it in a very long time so it was fun to watch it again with Angela….She loved it! Then it was time for bed!…..Day two had come to an end…..

“NIGHT ONE”

…………………On Saturday, night one of their weekend stay, we went to the Tarry Lodge in Westport Ct for dinner……..Since George, my friend for 19 years!, and my personal trainer, joined us for dinner I passed on the pizza, and had a delicious Bronzino for my meal…..LOL…..The girls had heard me talk about George for so long, and likewise George had heard so many stories about the girls that they have wanted to meet for the longest time. On this trip the stars aligned and they we were all able to get together for dinner……They all hit it off as I knew they would!……After dinner George suggested we all go to a coffee bar owned by a friend of his named Andrea. It was in down town Norwark. I hadn’t been there in ages, and it was certainly hopping…..We sat outside and had Espresso Martinis with Tequila! The bar offers BONGS for you to smoke…This seems to be a new trend that is really catching on….They are water pipes that are used for smoking Cannabis, but these only have flavored tablets. You smoke them, but you don’t inhale. You just take the flavored smoke in your mouth and taste the, in this case, melon flavor….It was something new for Angela, Chantal and I, and it was FUN……We sat at an outside table, and soon people stopped to say hello….to George. Over his many years of training he has met many people at the gyms he has worked at, and has made many friends…..As you can see from the photo at the lower right….a group of young college aged girls stopped by to say HI to their favorite trainer!…….After a few hours, and FOUR ESPRESSO MARTINIS it was time to say good night! We left George there with the BONG, to greet the many passerby who stopped to say hello……We went home and had a small piece of the most delicious CARROT CAKE Chantal had made for me……..A good time was had by all!

“ELVIS”

……………….I went to see the movie “ELVIS” last night and thought it was a wonderful movie. I learned a lot about Elvis and especially Col. Parker……..I know it’s early, but I predict both Austin Butler, who is an incredible Elvis, and Tom Hanks who plays Col. Parker will both be nominated for Oscars……I’d be shocked if they weren’t!

“DAY ONE AT THE “DELL’OLIO RESORT””

………………I always look forward to my visits from Chantal and Angela……..I can’t believe I’ve know them for so many years! I planned a lovely weekend of doing NOTHING, but laying in the SUN,  EATING and DRINKING……The weather cooperated beautifully…………Not a cloud in the sky, and a wonderful breeze coming off of the water of the Long Island Sound. They arrived, due to lots of traffic, later than expected, but as soon as they arrived the party began. I had made plans to go out to an early dinner in Westport Ct. at a fun restaurant named Tarry Lodge…..so I prepared a small  little something for us to eat before dinner. I knew after a three hour plus drive they would be hungry and THIRSTY! I had assorted cheeses, SPICY SALSA, Guacamole, and a Caprese salad with fresh basil from my garden…plus assorted crackers and toasted French bread to dip into the mustard dressing dressing…….and lots of COLD SANCERE to wash it down with. Then we sat outside where I had soft music playing, and relaxed until it was time to change for dinner…….The girls always tell me coming to my home “is like going on vacation”….It’s time to relax and let all tensions melt away…….Welcome to the DELL’OLIO RESORT!
