“THE CROP PIQUE JACKET”

………………..The CROP SILK PIQUE jacket in CHARTRUSE  had the look of a cropped double breasted trench. It had a wonderful unconstructed slouchy silhouette, and the trench styled pocket gave the jacket a wonderful relaxed attitude…….Christy is wearing it with a knit tank and silk shorts, but it looked great over dresses and the circle pants. Every well rounded wardrobe should still have a diverse group of jackets to suit different needs, and this crop did just that.

“THE SILK CIRCLE PANT”

…………The silk CIRCLE PANT was a midi length in Chartreuse silk…It was available in many colors……It actually looked like a beautifully flowing circle skirt. With it Jasmeen is wearing a LIME knit tank. The belt was sold separately and was in the same silk as the pant……..The door knocker earring and the ubiquitous T” strap sandal completed the look……….These were simply fun to wear.

“THE TUNICS”

……………….With the arrival of Capri pants and KNIT LEGGINGS….tunics were the perfect pairing……On Jasmeen…. the Chartreuse silk flared big skirt with the 3/4 sleeve and high side slits, and on Christie the SILK PIQUE tunic in a slimmer silhouette with long slim sleeves and side slits. The pique had a subtle texture, and was a soft, light weight fabric. It had more body than the silk crepe de Chine, which was perfect for pieces that had a more tailored look…..something of a Raj jacket. Both tops are paired with rayon/span knit leggings…..It all looks so easy, but achieving these tonal looks was not as easy as you may think. Matching colors in different fabrics and yarns was always a challenge……….Fabulous jewelry with wonderful colored stones, and the simple “T” strap sandals gave the look an exotic nonchalance……These pieces, 30 years later, could be in any store today.

“SARONGS & SHORTS”

…………………..The clothes I designed for Resort 1992 were not active wear beach clothes. These were clothes for after a day of sun, sand and sea….when you were showered, made up and ready for a night out……peasant tops, tanks, shorts and sarongs….sometimes in solid colds or sometimes in color blocks were made to mix and match. They were the perfect answer for light weight and easy wear clothes and easy packing……When the vacation was over these pieces were added to your summer wardrobe to give excitement, and a fresh new lift…..Jasmeen is wearing a contrast banded peasant shirt in VIOLET, MANGO and ORANGE…..With that a pair of pleated zip front shorts in ORANGE……Christy is wearing an ORANGE tank with a wrap sarong in VIOLET, ORANGE and MANGO.

“INCARNATIONS OF A BIG SHIRT”

………………The ease and comfort of a big shirt, no matter in what form, is always perfect to capture tropical breezes….Jasmeen is wearing a crop, button front, color block shirt with a drop shoulder and a kimono type sleeve. With that she is wearing easy pull-on tap shorts. Christy is wearing a color block dress…..again, with a button front, drop sleeve for added ease, and a kimono type sleeve to keep everything loose and easy…..All three pieces are in silk in combinations of CHARTRUESE, CYPRESS, VIOLET & MAGENTA………”T” strap flat sandals in matching colors complete the look…..These clothes may be 30 years old….but they look as modern and contemporary today as they did the day I designed them.
