“THE MERLOT, TAUPE & BLACK CHENNILLE & WOOL TAPESTRY JACKET”

………………..This elongated jacket worn by Niki Taylor was made in a tapestry pattern. The yarns used to construct this jacquard were merlot chenille, taupe wool, and black silk. The same company that made the chenille solid fabrics made these tapestry fabrics. The four button jacket was collarless with a jewel neckline and a slight bell sleeve. It was layered with the white silk shirt, a merlot button front cashmere cardigan and taupe chenille pants, Niki wore a chenille cap with wine leather gloves and a black jet and gunmetal hanging pin under the collar of the blouse…….The fabric had the look of the “Renaissance”.

…………….COLOR is so important to express your personality………Merlot was a rich wine color that had pink undertones, which made it very flattering……On the left Simonetta Gianfelici is wearing an elongated narrow double breasted jacket with a cut away bottom. It had a “dog ear” long pointed collar attached to a narrow lapel…Under the jacket she wore the signature silk blouse with the long pointed collar and a long jet pin…..The white blouse, the black wool crepe pants, black gloves, and the black knit cap framed the color perfectly…….The model to the right, Megan, is wearing a wrap ribbed chenille cardigan over a cowl neck matching chenille sweater….The pants are made in the men’s wear subtle tweed in fawn and black that I used for suits as well…. A merlot chenille cap and wine gloves finished Megan’s look.

“INDIGO WOOL GAUZE”

……………………..The wool gauze was a very fine Italian fabric. I did it in black, and midnight indigo shown here……….The model to the left is wearing a dress in three  layers. The bottom two layers of gauze doubled as the self fabric lining of the dress. The top layer was shorter giving the tiered effect….It had a ballet neckline, and a slight flared half raglan sleeve. Her only accessory….a pair of navy gloves…..The model to the right, Anna Getanah, is wearing a triple layer tunic. Each layer had side slits. It too had a ballet neckline, and a flared sleeve….Her pants were a double layer of the gauze. I didn’t want the distraction of seeing hands so she too wore navy gloves…her only accessory.

………………..I love this wonderful candid photo of Amber Valletta getting ready to go out onto the runway in Navy knit separates with Gayle Elliot in the wings lining up waiting for her cue to go. You can just barely see the person standing there to the left…with the clip board in hand ready to give Gayle the go ahead……I love the way Amber looks with the dark bob wig…All you see is her thin brow……the eye……and the crimson mouth against the very pale skin.
