………….For the new year I’ve decided to do a clean up of boxes that have been stored away on my third floor for years…..In one of the boxes I came across this curious object?….It belonged to my MIL, and came to my house when she moved in. I would guess it’s from the 40s or 50s… It looks like a scissor, but it doesn’t cut anything…..It has a “cup” and a hammer which operates when you open and close the handles……Obviously it was made to crush or crack open something….but what? I don’t think it was for nuts…..I’ve never seen anything like it…..My MIL had some really strange things for the kitchen!
…………………….It’s time to pack up the COOKIE DOUGH ORNAMENTS that Jac and I made in 1987!……We organized a dough cookie ornament party…it was great fun!…….Every time I unwrap them, I am always surprised they look brand new! They haven’t faded at all, and still look as vibrant as when we made them 38 YEARS AGO!!!!! They truly are old friends, and I can still hear the laughter for some of the ornaments we all created!…..mostly the X rated ones!……Now it’s time for them to be wrapped up and go to sleep until Christmas of 2025…..so many great memories!!!!!!!!!!!
……………..It’s always a joy when Kathy and Karen come and spend a weekend with me!……We had a great time!….I made a Lemon Cheesecake, which they said was the best cheesecake they ever had….I really have become a whiz at making cheesecakes. We spent the afternoon in my gathering room having a variety of things to nibble on, sitting by the fire…….I made an early dinner reservation at “Casa Me’ in Westport…which was all delicious…..then back to my house to watch a movie and Cheesecake….We watched “CONCLAVE” on pay per view….To my surprise there isn’t one movie theater anywhere near where I live that was playing the movie?!…so we got into our jammies and watched the movie on my big screen TV……This morning we went to the ELM STREET dinner for breakfast…..then back to my house. Before they left we all went to the third floor and went through what samples I have left, and they managed to fill three large garbage bags with clothes!…..Then they packed up. I gave Cathy the remaining piece of cheesecake to bring home to her husband Jim, who I know will enjoy it while watching the foot ball game this afternoon….I have one more group of guests coming next weekend, and I will make a raspberry cheesecake plus Pizzelles and Ginger cookies…..They have a two year old son, Cameron. I am going to gift him Jac’s collection of HESS TRUCKS…..I know he will enjoy them…..and I know Jac would be happy with my decision to give them to a little boy who’s face will light up when he opens the packages…..Then, for me the Christmas season will be officially over…..and I will start to put away all of the decorations……it will be a huge job!…..It would be so much easier for me just to leave them up until next Christmas!!!!!
………………………As Glenn and Charles were visiting me….I had two more guests!…..Two deer were just lounging on my lawn…..You could see how thick their winter coats had become…..It amazed me how gingerly they carefully steped over the strings connecting one stake to the other….They just stared at us….until they decided to leave…….I’m sure I will see them again!…..They really seem to like my lawn!
