“VERSACE…..AFTER DARK!”

………………….Versace’s evening clothes NEVER disappoint………..that’s why so many celebrities wear them on the RED CARPET!…….She showed everything you could possibly DREAM OF…..The two black dress at the extreme left with the DIAMANTE trims were standouts. and I’m sure we will be seeing them a lot……The silver and gold embroideries were astonishing…for women and men!…They were not just simple dresses covered in sequins or beads, but incredibly intricate designs… [nothing wrong with the all over sequin dresses….just not very VERSACE!], and there were STARLET dresses for the likes of ZENDAYA to make fabulous entrances in!……….BRAVO…BRAVO….BRAVO……DONATELLA…………..LIVE and BE WELL!

……………….For some reason, unbeknownst to me, YVES was dropped from the name of the brand????….Now the company is simply called Saint Laurent….it doesn’t quite sound right to me………The following are my observations and comments of the Saint Laurent Collection……..The pros:…..the COLORS were MAGNIFICENT…..the colors, and their combinations…Yves would be proud….The fabrics and the leathers looked sumptuous……..This collection was the POLAR OPPOSITE of the Valentino collection. Where as Valentino was all over the place without any direction….the Saint Laurent collect was EXTREMELY FOCUSED……..almost to a FAULT……..It was REPEATIVE, REPEATIVE, REPEATIVE…..It was basically three silhouettes done in slight variations in every color. The common denominators were the GINORMOUS SHOULDERS on EVERYTHING….which appeared on basically a cylinder of a shape, whether loose or belted….whether it be a jacket a coat or a dress……The second major silhouette was a PENCIL SKIRT shown with the same blouse with two or three variations in different fabrics…..For evening he showed one drop waist very FULL LONG skirt with a repetitive group of tops. Not easy to wear for most!…If he showed one he showed EIGHT of them!……If it weren’t for the beautiful colors, which made the collection exciting to look at….this collection would have been a bore!….If every outfit shown was made in grey instead of the colors….it would have been difficult to distinguish one from another because they were all so similar if not the same…..It just looked like he showed three silhouettes total….over and over….which he practically did. As for those PLASTIC CONDOM styles….YUCK….instant sauna…..You do have to give him credit for having a VISION and sticking to it…..even if it did become a “JOHNNY ONE NOTE”.

“VALENTINO”

…………………….OMG……..WHAT A DISASTER!!!!!!……..What a MISHMOSH…….A COCK-A-BALLY collection of clothing that looked like it was designed by someone who is suffering from SCHIZOPHRENIA!…..I can’t imagine what Valentino is thinking!!!??? What happened to the beautiful elegant clothes that he once stood for??? Is ARMANI the only one left?…There was absolutely NOTHING in this collection for what Valentino stood for!!!…..To say it was all over the place would be an understatement…..The RED BATHROON SET was BIZAARE…..The styling, if you could call it that, was disturbing at best! It looked like Allesandro Michele, the designer [bottom right picture], called in Edith Beal “LITTLE EDIE” from Grey Gardens to come in and help him style the collection…..The “LACE” layering pieces he showed under many evening dresses looked right out of Little Edie’s closet!….Were there any pretty clothes????…Maybe yes….but the barrage of weirdness overshadowed anything good in the collection…….If someone forced him to get rid of the weirdness, and he was forced to create something truly beautiful….I think he might have the talent to possibly do it…..but given a free reign as he was at GUCCI, and now VALENTINO….one is left guessing……..does he have the talent????…….and PLEASE…..Someone give those models a GOOD MEAL!………If you want to see more of this just go to YouTube and see it for yourself!

“BALMAIN”

……………….Another collection that I though had some wonderful things was Balmain….Was it perfect…..far from it, but what was STRONG….was very strong…….He had some of the BEST SWEATERS I have seen all season……I loved his colors, and I’m a sucker for ZEBRA….and large graphic animal black and white prints….which he showed in abundance in the form of sweaters, coats, dresses, evening wear and accessories…bags, boots and shoes…..Yes, there were too many throw backs to the 80s with exaggerated shapes that were often overpowering….which, foe me made made of the pieces dated….IMHO….if he held it back and controlled it a little more they would have been more successful….instead of unwearable……I also hated all of the styles that were ruined, IMHO with the HUGE breast pockets and flaps that appeared on coats and jackets [none shown here]. From experience I KNOW women hate them…They weren’t even flattering on these stick thin models…..I also found many of the boots awkward and cumbersome….Like the wine “Musketeer” boots at the lower left, and these were the best of the bunch. Some were just STIFF STOVE PIPES that went to the knee, and you could see the models were trying to look graceful in them…..BUT FAILED….He does have a way of manipulating leather that is beautiful and unique….My major complaint with this collection was he loves to EXAGGERATE thinking it will make a STRONG STATEMENT……but many times it is just OVERDONE!…..A little restraint would do wonders for many of his pieces!

…………………I have been trying to catch up on the Fall 2025-26 Fashion Shows both in the US and Europe…..I can honestly say I haven’t seen that many, but so far I’m not raving about any of the ones I have seen. There have been elements in a few that are note worthy…..”SCHIAPRAELLI”…..is one on those lines that always has wonderful things….certainly not everything….but the attention to detail and creativity can not be questioned……I am NOT a huge fan of the “HUGE” shoulders on different tops, jackets, sweaters and dresses that are appearing on many runways……”BEEN THERE….DONE THAT”….They are a throw back to the 80s, and I can tell you those that invest in these exaggerated shoulders better have good tailors for when they want to narrow them in a year’s time when they will be totally…OUT…..However, that said…..I did appreciated the large shoulders on many of the Schiaparelli styles, because of the sculptured waist fit of the jackets…..It really was done to perfection, and they just weren’t boxes hanging from the shoulders…..looking like they were wearing a giants jacket…..The embroidery details….the creativity in the design and attention to the buttons, trims and buckles on the belts…the handbags and shoes, and all of the accessories…..worked beautifully with the entire concept of the collection…..The leather coat with the whip stitching, fringe and grommet detail was wonderful….The draping on many of the evening pieces was masterful….The jackets are always exceptional…..No….I didn’t love everything on this collect…..but from what I’ve seen so far on the runways it was a standout….You can’t deny the creative process…A Schiaparelli collect is always done with integrity…..It was NOT A LAZY COLLECTION!!!!……What collections have you seen that you….loved….liked….or hated????
