It is always nice to reminisce and look back on the good times, but I am hoping and praying that we all have a brighter future and that 2016 and the years ahead, bring peace to the world we all share. I can’t think of a better wish for all of us and for future generations to come……………..I wish everyone good health……and mostly LOVE to share with those who are dear to you. Dear Jac and Louis, Happy New Year!!! As you know, I am a music lover and huge afficianato of classical music and opera. But I also love Americana, music that comes straight from our small towns and mountains. Robin and Linda Williams are masters of this and have performed world-wide. They live down the road from us in the beautiful little town of Middlebrook but also consider Staunton their home base. They are friends of many of us and we go to their performances whenever we can. We first heard this hauntingly beautiful song live. You could have heard a pin drop. it is the fervent hope, prayer, and wish of so many of us. I hope you enjoy this.

Dear Barbara….thank you for sharing that with me. They have a wonderful sound. It immediately reminded me of one of my favorite movie scores…..”Cold Mountain”. If you haven’t heard it I think you may enjoy it.
Oh, yes, a beautiful movie. That kind of a capella close harmony is very difficult to do well. Robin and Linda are most often very upbeat and fun, and always accompanied by banjo, guitar, and mandolin, so this piece is quite different for them. They go waaaay back with Garrison Keillor and brought him to Staunton once. I had a chance to have quite a conversation with him! If you saw the movie “The Prairie Home Companion”, they are in that with him. They had the premier of that movie here in Staunton, followed by a hilarious reception afterwards that was a replication of a church basement and supper. What fun!!! OG sends his New Years salutations to you both!
