“THE SUIT”

suit

……………………….Many many times I am asked, especially by professional women, to bring them a suit…….but this new suit I am offering……..is no ordinary suit…….I call this the “Relaxed Suit”……..This new relaxed version of the suit has been prevalent on many of the spring runways for both men and women…..especially on the Giorgio Armani runways….who IMHO is the King of the suit. What exactly constitutes a “relaxed suit”? It’s all in the construction….or LACK there of, and the FABRIC chosen……….This is an UNLINED jacket and pant with as little tailoring as possible, but enough to still be called a suit jacket…..It has a classic notch collar and lapel, and a classic sleeve with three WORKING  buttons…..I love working buttons on a sleeve. It just makes the whole thing more authentic. It has snap out shoulder pads,  narrow horizontal band pockets, and PRINCESS seams front and back for a nice body grazing fit, but always relaxed due to the fact that there is minimum construction. What also gives this jacket a more UPDATED and casual look is the HIGH/LOW hem and the CURVED shirt tail split side seam, which you can see in the bottom photo third from the right…….The other integral component that categorizes this as a “relaxed suit” is the fabric…….The “Gaberdine” fabric is an 87% poly/23% rayon/4% spandex blend…….but it is the washed finish that truly gives the jacket and trouser their LANGUID relaxed FEEL and DRAPE…..a VERY EUROPEAN  attitude. This is NOT a PRISTINE sharply tailored crisp jacket and pant…..Again, the mood is relaxed, soft, and if a suit could ever be considered casual….this is it. The jacket is approx. 26 inches long for the XS……The jacket, because it is relaxed, is sized XXS through 3X. Your regular jacket size should fit fine…..the measurements to consider are the same you would in any jacket….shoulder width, bust and hip……It may be relaxed, but it is not big……..The style # of the jacket is A273302………………………….

……………………The TROUSER, A273303, is numerically sized….2,4,6,8,10 etc. etc…….This is a classic TROUSER PANT….with a zip front and single button waist band. There are trouser pockets. There are also darts front and back. The back waist band is fully elasticized. The inseam is approx. 32 inches, and the bottom leg opening is approx. 7 1/2 inches wide. What I think you will all love is the hand and drape of the fabric. I am sure the more traditionalists may not understand the casualness of the fabric, but that’s exactly what makes it modern and gives it an edge……..I will recommend that when you receive these pieces you either press them or send them to the dry cleaners for a professional press. This is what I did with my samples. I’m afraid steaming them will not be enough….especially for the collar and lapel…..but that’s just me and how I like things to look.. I have chosen the faux de Chine tanks in the Perfectly Pink and the Light Tan that were under the safari shirts, A214117 to pair with these suits. They are a tad more feminine and soft and languid than a WK sweater or tailored shirt…all of which would also work perfectly well. The jewelry……Linea Pearls, J264035, in the Perfectly Pink and Driftwood 72″ necklaces….wrapped twice around the neck, and the matching PEARL stud earring, J287991, which comes pierced and clip……A sling back flat or a kitten heel would be perfect……It’s all very serene and tasteful…..which is ALWAYS a good look!………..The suit is avail in the GRAY or NAVY, and is already avail on my Linea QVC site!…………………enjoy……………….much Love………………….Louis

SWOON~~~ over the 32 Inch Inseam!

    Thank you!
I won’t ask for more colors but if you can make 32 inch inseams again .. they’ll find a happy home in my house!
Enjoy the warmer weather and thanks again!

Dear Nancy….when the leg of a pant is straight or wider I can easily ask for 32 inches…..when the leg is slim…..28 is usually the longest they will allow.

I am glad you post photo’s. QVC’s are terrible of the jacket. I am looking forward to your live presentation.

Gorgeous! I am so glad to see a gabardine fabric–one of my favorites. Thank you for this great suit in classic colors. LOVE IT!

  4. Shan

    Oh yeah! Wishes come true.

  5. Grace

Oh, this is WONDERFUL!! Beautiful and elegant. Just what I need for client meetings. And, with a 32-inch inseam, I am over-the-moon thrilled! Both colors for me!

Barbara, I live in my faux linen herringbone suits, too! I have two in the olive and one in stone. They are perfect summer suits and nearly indestructible, thank goodness! I hope this fabric is similar, too.

    1. Kay H

Me too, Maia. I’ve been holding my breath for something similar to the faux linen herringbone suits!!

Louis, thank you many times over for S-3X sizing in the jacket! I need an XL for the additional sleeve length Misses sizing gives me compared to a plus size 1X. And it almost goes without saying that I’m thrilled with the 32″ inseam. (Still hoping for a hem to let down.)

Hi, Louis! I LIVE in your herringbone faux linen suit in the summer and find it indispensable for summer travel. It will definitely go with me next summer to Europe. Would you say that the “feel” of this suit in terms of cut is similar to that suit? The grey is calling me.

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

They are both easy fitting jackets, but I no longer have the jackets to compare. I only kept the pants.

      1. Barbara in Virginia

Thanks. I can look at the garment measurements of the new suit and compare. I bet the new suit will work about the same way as the herringbone one.

  9. Kate

Oh, this is just what I need this spring. Something relaxed but still chic and professional. All over both colors.

    1. louis dell'olio

I think you will really like these pieces…the pants are terrific separately too. I also like them mixed for unmatched suits.I think the pants will go quickly.

      1. Kate

32″ inseam? They’ll fly out the door.

Since you recommend professional pressing, does this mean you think this is NOT packing/travel friendly? I don’t buy much anymore that can’t hit the road.

    1. louis dell'olio

No, not at all. I know when the clothes are sent from the factory they are very carefully folded with tissue, but I have also heard that some between the factory and the arrival at someones home the clothes have arrived very wrinkled. This is a poly/rayon/span fabric which is a blend I have used quite often with very good success. I only say that if it should arrive in a less then perfect condition. I am sure when you pack for a trip you will do a much better job.

      1. Carol

Ordered the gray blazer and pants, as well as the navy pants. Would you put the gray blazer with the navy pants? Thx, Louis!

        1. louis dell'olio

          ABSOLUTELY!!!

          1. Carol

In that case, there’s three pieces of a 10 piece travel wardrobe. Hurray!

  11. Goldie76

    Dear Louis,

Is this your inimitable “Linea Navy?” Does it read like your Whisper Knit Linea Navy? I guess what I’m asking is if the color translated well onto the fabric. Liking that jacket ever so much.

    1. louis dell'olio

      Yes Goldie….it’s my Linea navy.

      1. Goldie76

Very happy to learn this, Louis. My mind is now thinking of how many ways I can put this navy jacket to work.

(Hope I did not embarrass you with my effusive praise under the boho skirt display. You just thrill me with your colors and presentations — obviously.)

        1. Louis Dell'Olio

Dear Goldie, I was very flattered to be compared to such an incredible director, thought he was far more creative than I could ever hope to be.

          1. Goldie76

Both of you express your genius appropriately in your field. The explosion of gorgeous color and ingenious combinations thrills no matter what the medium is. He was from Rimini. Was your family from that area? Maybe you two are kin.

  12. designista

    1. QVC calls this a “Knit Blazer”; is this a knit or woven fabric?
    2. How do you suggest shortening the sleeves?

    1. louis dell'olio

It is a woven, and since the buttons work you can turn the sleeve back or shorten which ever you prefer.

  13. luvitorleaveit

Yeah!!!!!!! is all I can say.

  14. Nancy (AKA TheOwl)

This is right up my alley!!! Drop-dead gorgeous and simply chic. Both colors!

    1. Pecan Cookie

Me2! The only bummer is that easy pay day was yesterday but that didn’t stop me.
