“Sneak Peek #7” is my new “WINDOW PANE PRINT” cotton sateen jacket, A223937. For many years I had been able to offer you a wonderful shirt/jacket in a silk dupioni window pane pattern. Unfortunately, with the sky rocketing cost of that silk fabric, I had to discontinue the item. Then the light bulb went off….I may have to discontinue the fabric, but I can REINVENT the window pane pattern. I took my sample of the original shirt, laid it on my drawing table….placed a sheet of tracing paper over it and started playing with different patterns until I came up with the one I liked. The pattern has the CLASSIC look of a traditional window pane, but has a modern edge due to it’s BROKEN, THICK & THIN line work. I hope you like it as much as I had fun doing it.
The jacket is in my COTTON SATEEN fabric…..97%cotton, 3% spandex. The colors are WHITE/BLACK, NAVY/WHITE and TURQUOISE/WHITE…..all FRESH and CLEAN. It is an unlined jacket, which gives it an extended life. It has a slight A-LINE SHAPE, with a SPREAD SHIRT COLLAR, and a 4 button front closure. The jacket has some TRENCH detailing……the the straps on the 3/4 length sleeves, the back buttoned down flap and the INVERTED PLEAT all add to the special details of the jacket. Please notice that the back inverted pleat has a 3/8ths inch top stitch which will always keep the edge of the pleat sharp. The front has two INSERTED band pockets…..I capitalize “inserted” because this is a much more expensive way to make a band pocket. The collar has a HALF MOON STAND which is another detail that adds to the DESIGNER QUALITY of the jacket, The straps on the sleeve, the back flap and invert pleat, the half moon stand and the inserted band pocket could have all been left off and it still would have been a cute jacket….but….not a LINEA JACKET!
A223938, is the coordinating cotton sateen CROP PANT. The colors are BLACK , which is VERY BLACK, WHITE and my deep beautiful NAVY. They are VERY similar to the cuffed crop pant from the past. They have a zip and button front……mens’ trouser slant pockets…..a FULL elastic back and a partial elastic front. They have a 24 inch inseam with a 7 inch bottom opening…….I would classify them as a SLIM LEG pant. They have a 1 and 1/2 inch cuff with a 3/4 inch hem. Everyone NEEDS these ESSENTIAL pants and you know they will go QUICKLY. I hope you like my EASTER WEEKEND SNEAK PEEK!!……much Love, Louis
I wear an XL in your silk windowpane. Will this jacket have the same fit?
Thanks!
Dear LoveLinea….by the way I LOVE you name!!! They are totally different jackets in totally different fabrics so I can’t compare the two. If you normally wear an XL in Linea, than I would say to stay with the XL. This type of A-Line unlined jacket you want roomy. It has bust darts for shape….whereas the silk does not, so I think you should be good in the XL.
Hi Louis,
Thanks for the sneak peak. I have the silk window pane blouse in several colors and have enjoyed it immensely. This window pane jacket is sure to please. It just looks like spring! Thanks again. Looking forward to the show!
Carol
Thanks so much for coming up with an alternative for your silk window pane shirt jacket. It breaks my heart that the price of silk has precluded you from bringing back the original version in silk, but how wonderful to still be able to have the look in a different fabric. I would have gladly paid more for the silk version, but luckily the original version wears and dry cleans well. The best thing about this style is that it’s so crisp and cool to wear in the hot summer months.
Dear Louis,
I love your clothes and would gladly pay an increased price for the silk windowpane shirt. I have been waiting for the red/blue, pink/black and orange to return! The silk windowpane fits me perfectly and will your new version be the same fit?
Thanks for the fabulous clothes!!!!!!
Will the navy windowpane jacket match the navy crop pants w/ white piping from last summer?
Dear MAKP, unfortunately they do not……the window pane navy has a little more purple in it whereas the piped pant is a little more green…..sorry
I want all 3 colors. This is ridiculous. As soon as I summon any amount of self control, you pounce!
What a great jacket. I’m a fan of the windowpane shirts – I have 3 of them and love the crispness of the print. I LOVE Navy and I think Turquoise looks beautiful on every woman who wears it.
It just looks like Spring. You’re amazing.
Oh dear, and just when I promised myself (and DH) I wouldn’t buy so many “multiples” … how could I ever choose between these three colors, and in this jacket??? I LOVE your updated interpretation of a classic windowpane check, and three divine colors! This is just beautiful, Louis. A couple of questions if I might, when you have time:
As the jacket is unlined, what is the inside seam finishing? If it’s a serged finish, I like to get out the bottle of “fray check” and go to work on the inside of things I really like …
What is that white skirt shown with the turquoise jacket; vintage or upcoming?
What is the turquoise top shown under the turquoise jacket?
THANKS and Happy Easter to you, Jac and the girls. Walter and I are being kept rather busy all weekend getting our beloved Reffi dog and our brand new rescued doggie acquainted with us, each other and all the “rules” :))) It’s going to be a long weekend!

Dear Cathy.
The seams on the inside are machine marrow stitched. The whit skirt and the turquoise tank body suit are both vintage Linea………Louis
A very happy Easter to you and Jac! One question? How long is the inseam on the cotton sateen crop pants? They are calling my name in all 3 colors!! Thanks for the sneak peeks.
They have a 24 inch inseam and a 7 inch bottom opening with a1 and 1/2 inch cull and a 3/4 inch hem….Happy Easter.
Bonjour! Yes, all of the sneak peeks I have shown will be on my April 2 hour show……
…….Happy Easter to you and your family!
I hope you mean the April 26th show, 1pm?
Yep….there’s only one I know about!
Bonjour! Merci Beaucoup! Hope you’re planning your next visit to Paris and/or Aix!
We going to Paris soon. There was a lovely little restaurant right near Notre Dame that I wanted to take Jac to. When I googled it I found out it has closed! Any suggestions?
Ask and you shall receive. Here are some favorites, expensive followed by less expensive:
Guy Savoy – fabulous dining experience, but expensive. Recommend going for lunch at 12 noon. Same excellent menu, but significantly reduced price. We had our Paris hotel concierge make reservations. Nice video on their website.
Jules Verne – on top of Eiffel Tower. Great views, but food is overpriced. Again, recommend going for lunch. Great way to get to top of Eiffel Tower without waiting in line. Menus and reservations available online.
L’Atelier Joel Robuchon – another great place for lunch (too expensive for dinner). Gourmet food served at elegant counter. Order ala carte rather than pre fixe.
Allard, 41 rue St-André-des-Arts, 6e. Great bistro; excellent food.
La Rôtisserie d’en Face – Left Bank on Rue Christine. Delicious chicken. A lot more informal, quaint and nice.
Le Cordon Bleu – we attended a “Chef’s Secrets” cooking class at Le Cordon Bleu – great experience. Tasting included. Class sign-up available on their website.
Laduree – as you know, this place is famous for colorful macaroons. Restaurant on Champs-Elysees serves meals and tea.
Enjoy!
Thank you they all sound yummy.
My pleasure! Also, you can’t go wrong with a brasserie on the street or the cafe in the Musee d’Orsay. Paris in Spring . . . ENJOY!!
Too many choices….too few days!
Dear Louis —
This jacket is gorgeous! Your classic design addresses every detail. I for one can’t wait to purchase in navy and white. Will this be in your April show? Many thanks. Easter blessings.
