I remember visiting my relatives in Rowayton. Their house was right on the water and the owner, an older cousin, had a hurricane basement set up. He also had a bullhorn (I’m not kidding) to warn the neighbors. I never visited after Labor Day so never had the experience. But I do remember some wicked storms. There was a tiny room on the top floor (former attic)that I’d curl up in and watch the boats bobbing around.
Everyone in that part of my family is gone. I’ve summered in Vt.,the outer Cape (Wellfleet)and Tuscany, but I miss Rowayton and that warm water in the small beachfront area.
I never saw a cow although the house came with two puppies.
We just had today about 4 mini power outages during the day due to the winds. But our beaches have been hit with a lot of beach erosion. Glad it was a relaxing day with your girls.
Downton Abbey Marathon this weekend, so a great chill out weekend. Loving all the costumes, especially some of the interesting color combinations. Mooooo!
Happy Labor Day to you and Jac and your Girls!
We got lucky with the weather and are enjoying a last hurrah in Belle Harbor, Queens with friends before we head back to Manhattan.
Looking forward to your September fashions!
Thank you, Elaine
Happy Labour Day to you as well! Hope Jac is feeling much better!
The same to you, too, Louis! Relax. Do you have cows on your property or do these darling bovines belong to a neighbor — or, perhaps, you visited a county fair?
A country fair…..no cows here just puppies.
