“APRIL SNEAK PEEK # 12”

“April Sneak Peek # 12”, is the A223661, PEBBLE CREPE skirt. For me, this is an essential skirt and a silhouette many of you probably do not have in your wardrobes. The closest thing you may own to this skirt is your BOHO. Why this skirt and silhouette now? With the importance of LONGER lengths….the MAXI everything, and after giving you the essential  LONG SLIM pebble crepe skirt A221804 [please don’t look at the QVC picture of this skirt….it’s horrible and does this skirt ZERO justice]……… it is a natural progression to introduce a “fuller” longer skirt. It also has a retro vibe…..very “MAD MEN”………and they are just fun to wear…as many of you have dubbed this type of skirt…”THE SWIRL SKIRT”. The mastery of creating this kind of skirt is controlling the amount of fullness! Too little and it looks skimpy…..too much….well….is too much. I think the balance of this skirt should and will work for most women. If you can wear the Boho, I see no reason why you can’t wear this. If you have never worn a skirt like this before….it’s time to step out of your BOX….wear it with a wonderful belt and you will look like Scarlet O”Hara…..well…..it does make you look like you have a smaller waist! There was a reason for those extremely full skirts.

Again, this skirt is made in my PEBBLE CREPE fabric that so many of you love. It’s all about comfort. The colors are AQUA [or Aquamarine] which is the exact same color. Anything you may own from me in this color, such as the A215163, georgette peasant shirt or the A215172 , P.C. shirt/jacket will all match. The piece I especially love with this skirt is the A213621, crop tunic with the pockets in the same pebble crepe…..the aquamarine and black will match this skirt perfectly and it makes for one wonderful two piece dress. The other colors are BLACK and SAND. This skirt is a pull-on with an elastic waist…..no lining required! It is a total of 31 inches long with the first tier starting 5 1/2 inches below the elastic. From the photos above you can see the black skirt worn with my tank bodysuit, any black tank will due. Don’t forget to take my A223660, black [or any color] shrug to go over it. This look calls for “over the top” accessories. I paired the  Aqua skirt with a vintage Linea JADE tank and the IVORY FAUX DE CHINE shirt, A219796….tied at the waist. The sand….for a more relaxed  look….. I paired with my Linea LAVENDER TANK, A221797.and my faux de Chine KHAKI SAFARI SHIRT JACKET [the OLIVE, WHITE and NAVY look great too]. This is a terrific travel skirt, as all of the pebble crepe pieces are. Wear it bare foot on the beach to a summer destination wedding….they are usually on some beach……wear it to work, a dinner out with friends at your favorite outdoor bistro….or dress it up with high heel or tea cup heel sandals and you are ready to go anywhere. This skirt gives you INSTANT DRAMA!…………. This may easily become your FAVORITE summer skirt!!……………………………ENJOY…..Love, Louis

Good post. I learn something more difficult on different blogs everyday. It’s going to at all times be stimulating to read content from other writers and apply somewhat one thing from their store. I’d favor to make use of some with the content material on my blog whether you don’t mind. Natually I’ll provide you with a link in your internet blog. Thanks for sharing.

    I love skirts!
Thank you so for these pebble crepe skirts. I’m looking forward to wearing them .. all year long.
I’ve enjoyed wearing the funnel neck pebble crepe top in both coral and black this year. When I first saw it I thought, eh not so much my kind of top..and of course I found that as usual, you knew exactly what you were doing when you designed this one.
Thanks again for being my favorite designer.

Just thinking….does the sand skirt go with the sleeveless pebble crepe tunic in natural from last year? And do you think it’s too much with the long over long on a 5’5″ XL frame? Always appreciate your opinion. thanks…

That’s an overwhelming proportion even foe a 6 foot model…..no stick to leggings, pencils, Capris and slim leg pants for the tunic.

Thought that was too much for me; thanks for the input. Thaqnks for taking the time to listen to our ideas and steering us in the right direction.

    Dear Louis,

You have tantalized me with this modified two-tier boho skirt. Please be brutally honest in your reply to this question: Will those of us with bountiful hips and comparatively small waists look bulkier in this skirt? I know you urged us to choose “outside the box,” but I don’t want my “unboxed” choice to be unflattering. (Dear me, I always seem to carping about these hips of mine. It’s just that I try to work around my physical imperfections, and I don’t want to make a costly mistake — i.e., those shipping charges for returned items).

Really, I have to let you know that I think your blog is a godsend. You give magnificent advice, and your fans get a heads-up for what you’ll be serving up in the future. I especially like that you are aware that your Linea Ladies come in all sizes and sometimes adhere to different ideals. Some of us are drama queens, while others are very tailored. We have all found a home with you. You are so talented and kind. An unbeatable combination, that’s for sure.

Dear Maria….thank you so much for you kind words. I have always felt a kinship with my customers. I was never the “ivory castle” type of designer. I always enjoyed my customer more than the fashion editors….which did not always play well for me……c’est la vie….my choice. Now, as for your hips! You have to realize, without seeing you, it’s a very hard question to answer. Stepping out of the box is one thing, but taking a giant leap out of your comfort zone is another matter. The fact that you have a “comparatively small waist” is a plus. Have you worn the Boho and felt comfortable….for that matter have you tried any fuller skirt and felt comfortable? As I said, this is not a huge skirt with a lot of fullness around the hips, but it’s not slim either. How tall are you? I would recommend getting the black. Do you have the A213621, black pebble crepe tunic top? I think that could be a good look for you. Since you do have a smaller waist, a black tank, belted with the black or reef green shrug could also work for you. Again, it’s really hard to give you a definitive yes or no, but I really love this skirt so I think it’s worth a try……..can you picture yourself in this skirt with wonderful strappy wedges, black sunglasses, some wonderful long beads, and a big natural straw bag?

      1. Maria (Goldie76)

        Dear Louis,

Thank you for your honest reply. (By the way, I just ordered the aqua pebble top with pockets in case you gave me a green light. No matter. I have the straight skirt in black and just ordered the sand.) I am leaning to the aqua, but I do look “bad” in full skirts, to be honest. Your mentioning my comfort zone made a light go on. Why force things, you know? I can still achieve the Linea look with your upcoming maxi-dress in green. Once 5’4″, I have (thanks to shrinking discs) now become 5’2 1/2.” I know, not a lot to work with here, but I make it go. I try to stick to a monochromatic look and skirts that suit me, such as your straight pebble crepes and the fantastic A-line that you introduced at the start of spring. It’s just that I fall in love with most of the looks you present, even though they might not be good for my body type. But you, as I have said before, provide for all of us. Always there is a look that is just right for me, and I know that. One sneak peek or the other is going to grab my heart.

I think I’m going to love this skirt. How about this skirt in black, the wk tank in black, and the Moraccan shirt in the black, turq….of course some fabulous jewelry. I found the perfect sandal in turq and black. Perfect summer outfit.

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

Sherry…that sounds perfect…..then wear the same tank and skirt and the new shrug in reef green or black….next wear it with the white Kate shirt, belted…. next the new denim jacket in the white or black, next the P.C.boat neck tunic A213621….next, next, next. The possibilities are endless…..in the fall wear it with boots!

      1. Sherry

OOOhh!!! I just love all of those looks. AND, as Maria said “you are a godsend” with this blog…I have always loved fashion; and worked some type of management retail until I became disabled. I especially appreciate that you design clothing for the modern working woman, but also design clothing for those of us that no longer work and wear your clothing to flea markets and Wal-mart. LOL You are truly a woman’s designer! Thank you for all your hard work.

  6. Louis Dell'Olio

I think you had better make him more than rolls….LOL

    1. Cathy

Okay, well you’ve never given me bad advice, so I upped the ante to Cinnamon Rolls AND his real favorite, PA Dutch Sticky Buns 🙂 He so misses both since I no longer make them, that should go a long way …

      Thanks! Cathy in PA

    Dear Louis,

This is such a nice basic skirt, and the colors are terrific. Easy summer dressing, but so well thought out; can’t wait to get mine, in several colors.

Requesting NOW for next year: Espresso and Navy and Moss Green 🙂

All promises to Walter for April have flown out the window; I’m going to have to make him homemade cinnamon rolls to apologize and appease 😉

    Thanks! Cathy in PA
