“THE SCARLET RED COAT”

poncho16

………….At some point in most women’s lives they dream of owning a beautiful RED COAT…..Dream no more…..At 11:00am on MONDAY, Oct 17, this coat can be yours!…. I am offering you this beautiful SCARLET RED COAT!….A284133….. The fabric is the exact same fabric as the TRENCH COAT, A267875, so you already know this is a QUALITY garment. The workmanship is what you have come to expect from Linea apparel…I have to say this coat is simply superb….Between the fabric, the attention to detail and the sewing and top stitching make this coat look quadruple the price……..The coat will be in NUMERICAL SIZES, and the size 6 is approx. 34 1/2 inches long, so it’s more like a three quarter coat on the average height woman. The coat is fully lined in dyed to match satin…….It has a stand collar that looks great all buttoned up, very military style, but it looks just as good worn opened. There is a YOKE at the top of the coat, and there are body seams from the yoke extending to the hem. In these seams are hidden POCKETS. There is an INSET “BIB” detail down the front that extends below the waist line for a leaner longer look. There are close ups of this detail in the photos…. There is also a HORIZONTAL SEAM near the waist. For some it will be at the waist….for others below or above…..It really doesn’t matter where this seam hits on your body, because the fit is not determined by this seam. The fit follows the lines of the body. The coat has a slight A-Line for lots of walking room………..GOLD BUTTONS are everywhere on coats this season, so I had to have a very special GOLD NUGGET BUTTON made exclusively for this coat. Many years ago I did a double breasted suede jacket for QVC that had these exact buttons……Maybe some of you still have the jacket. It is as in style today as it was many years ago when I first presented it. This coat will have the same longevity as that jacket because GOOD STYLE never goes out of fashion……This coat is truly timeless……In the photos above I have the SCARLET RED TN which I believe is sold out. I told you it was going to be important! However, when I present this coat I will show it with the SCARLET RED SWING WK SWEATER, A268137, which actually gives the whole outfit more PENACHE. The A284133, Scarlet Red WK skirt, shown above, is still to come. Since I do not have Scarlet tights. too bad, I will be showing my solid black tights or maybe my BLACK PINSTRIPE TIGHTS, A260031, and black gloves………………To go with the Gold Nugget buttons………..the GOLD NUGGET NECKLACE, J321805, Β as shown above makes a bold statement, but is incredibly light in weight [there are very very few left]. The GOLD HAMMERED EARRING with the large RED CABOCHON STONE, J33719, which happens to be on clearance for the incredible price of $14.95,Β is perfection with the coat. As an alternative my BYZANTINE group will look splendid and very festive with this outfit………………….Is this not the perfect theater outfit, or how about a candle lite midnight mass on Christmas eve. All eyes will be on you!…………………………………………….enjoy……………………………much Love………………..Louis

I have to say, my scarlet jacket is so elegant, it dresses up everything. The shape, the neckline, the buttons….it’s my favorite until it gets
really cold! I received the scarlet Tneck also. This is a favorite of mine already. Thank you

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

Dear Sharon, wear it in good health, and ENJOY. I’m sure you will look fabulous! It is definitely a spirit lifter!! The way our weather has been going I think you will get more wear out of it then you may think. After all on Valentines Day, hopefully you will be going from the house to the car when your husband takes you out for a Valentine’s dinner. Now you have a good reason to make plans! When Spring comes back this will make the perfect Easter Coat with Winter White and Navy pants……………..

    Louis
The new coat is just lovely!
I purchased the black coat for myself as well as my sister. A further comment on the weight of your trench.
I live in Chicago and I wore the navy trench almost all of December until it went into the teens. With the right layering you could probably wear it longer. I am hoping I can wear the new coat as long. My sister lives in Memphis, TN. She wore her trench all winter. She suspects she will wear the new coat all winter with appropriate layering.

On another front I am looking forward to the rest of your new stuff. I will be purchasing all three colors if the V neck swing
    cardigan.

    Louis
I still own the the beautiful suede jacket from one of your early QVC collections that you described in black with those beautiful gold buttons. It is lovely and the buttons are substantive. Your new coat is wonderful.

  4. 1jac

Louis I do not wish to be considered a pill, but you posted the red wk skirt with the same number as the new red coat. You mentioned it was a reorder wk skirt, but I can’t figure out which one since the red color has not been posted. Could you post the correct number for the skirt and then I can figure out what the skirt length will be. Thanks so much.

    1. Goldie76

Yiassou, 1jac! How are you? I read your question, and I think the answer is A273880, the Whisper Knit skirt that came in perfectly pink, ivory and black and was offered this past spring.. The online skirt presentation no longer shows the options of scarlet red and heather grey, but it recently did offer those options. (You know how QVC does those things.) At least, I believe this is the skirt that recently showed the newest colors.

      1. 1jac

Goldie thanks you’re a “Koukla”. Hated to ask Louis a second time. I’m so glad it’s the new Milano skirt. That Iis the shorter version and I have it in the ivory and black. I must have missed it when the colors were briefly posted. It will look so chic with the matching red coat. I love that column of color that Louis does so well. Thanks again.

        1. Goldie76

You are very welcome! By now this board knows that I love a column of color, too. The look the column conveys is untouchable, style-wise, in my book.

        2. Goldie76

1jac, I was incorrect in the number I reported to you. Grace very kindly tracked down what I could not find. The scarlet red (and heather grey) skirt number is A253411. Sorry I sent you in the wrong direction.

      2. Grace

Hi Goldie! Hope you are well… I’m also interested in the red skirt and noticed that A253411 is showing “sold out” in scarlet red. I’m wondering if this is the WK skirt Louis is talking about? It’s longer than A273880, so I’m hoping this could be it! Louis, can you please end the suspense? lol

        1. Goldie76

Grace, you are correct! I could not track down another Whisper Knit skirt when I submitted “Whisper Knit Skirts” in the search zone. Somehow, I was uncertain that I was correct. The skirt that has scarlet red and heather grey is A253411, as you indicated.

Thanks again! (The “inner voice” knows what it is talking about, doesn’t it?)

          1. Grace

Goldie, I wasn’t sure if I had the right skirt, but sometimes it takes a village to sleuth out these things πŸ˜‰

Like you, I love a column of color and were it not for Louis, I doubt we’d be finding it anywhere in the retail world without the involvement of a gifted stylist. I’m not sure I can pull off all red, but I’m certainly going to try! Are you “all in” as a lady in red with this outfit?

            1. Goldie76

Getting a chuckle from your “… sometimes it takes a village to sleuth out these things.” Oh yeah, I’m down for all red. Just when I think that my coloring has changed so much because of age and conclude that deep blues flatter me more than my tried-and-true red, someone will come along and utter, “Oh, you look so good in red!” My theory gets scuttled just like that.

I guess I’ll play the red card as long as I can.

            2. Goldie76

I also agree that I would be unable to put together such a look without the aid of an expensive stylist. Can you imagine what the garments would cost if they were found in the retail world at large? I could not afford them.

            3. Grace

Goldie, did you snag a coat or two today? That pricing inspired me to get all three! My closets are groaning, but so what!

            4. Goldie76

Grace, I was at an appointment this morning, and that is what saved me from buying the coat in black. [I really hated missing this particular show, too!] A few minutes ago I watched my recording of the 11:00 a.m. show and was mesmerized by the stunning look of the black coat. The truth is, I am now reflecting on all my many pieces of clothing, my (cough, cough) somewhat advanced age and my prospects for getting around to wearing all my finery. Six years ago, I was still high and mighty and buying freely. I’m not that much better now, but trying to rein in my purchases. I don’t want to sound negative, but I must be realistic. πŸ™‚ But Linea garments and jewelry bring me so much pleasure… Enjoy your three new “splendiferous” (Zorba speaking) coats!

            5. Goldie76

Oh, yes, I did get the coat in scarlet red.

            6. Goldie76

And I finally succumbed to the mystical powers of the Trapeze necklace (ordered two, one waitlisted). I just really had to have some close-ups of the necklace, as were provided this morning, for me to grasp it fully. Also a pair of earrings. [I will go down “dressed to live.”]

            7. Grace

Goldie, I’m happy to hear you got the red coat and the necklace, before they sold out! I know you will sparkle when wearing them πŸ™‚ I wish I’d nabbed the silver trapeze necklace before it disappeared–I already have the black and the gold (the Russian gold we both love!) and they are great additions. Simple, yet striking. I think you’ll be very pleased.

I hear you and agree about limiting purchases for a host of reasons, but like you, Linea clothing and jewelry bring me a lot of pleasure. What’s a girl (of any age) to do? (I actually think we may be closer in age than you think!) You said it so well…”dress to live” and I’ll add, live to dress in Linea. lol πŸ™‚

    2. designista

A253411 is the Whisper Knit skirt coming in Scarlet Red, Heather Grey and Black.I believe Louis mentioned some time ago that the Milano skirt was not reordered.

      1. 1jac

Thank you designista. I checked that style number on his blog and he showed it in navy with the navy quilted jacket. Is the navy skirt a previously available color or a new one to come?

        1. Louis Dell'Olio

Dear 1Jac, the only navy skirt that is avail is the A262454, which is the Moss Crepe skirt. It is in broken sizes. There are no other navy skirts coming at this time.

  5. Jackie

Louis, does this coat has a weight the same as the trench or is it lighter weight? I am wondering if this is definitely an outdoor coat or could I use it for a long winter weight blazer indoors? Your answer may may determine whether I also buy the black one.

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

This is a slimmer coat and shorter than the trench. Also this is single breasted without lapels and epaullets. Add that all up and this is definitely lighter in weight than the trench. How heavy something is is relative, but I will say when I was taking pictures of Jac in the coats she said I should do a long blazer n this fabric. I asked her, ” don’t you think,it’s too heavy?”, and she said no she would love a longer blazer in this fabric. Since I can’t try it on ……that’s the best answer I can give you.

  6. Jackie

i bought my red coat this morning. Now I do not need to stalk the Q”s website this weekend. Yippy! I also have the scarlet TN and am very much looking forward to wearing this classy look. Wowza. Thanks Louis.

  7. 1jac

Louis thanks for the wk red skirt style number. But my question was asking you about the skirt’s length. Will it be the shorter length version or the longer length? I know you hate numbers but this petite Linea Lady really wants to know. Thanks .

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

Since it is a reorder….I believe if you look up the style number it will give the exact length

  8. Alicia Hughes

HI Louis, the item number you gave for the coat is for a sweater. Could you check that for us, p,ease? I love the coat! It is stunning! Thanks so much

  9. 1jac

Lovely coat Louis. Since the sizing is numerical, should we order the same size as we did for your beautiful trench?

    1. louis dell'olio

I would say so….Jac tried all of them on in a 6 which is her size and said they fit pertfectly with a little room to spare which she felt was good for a coat.

      1. 1jac

Louis I am anxiously awaiting the new wk scarlet red skirt. What will be the length of this skirt, starting at a 23 length or the longer 26 length? As a petite I’m hoping for the shorter length. Thanks.

        1. Louis Dell'Olio

Dear Jac…..I just can’t get along with numbers….never have…. not since grade school! The style number is A284133

  10. Grace

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE. What a gorgeous coat! I cannot wait to get this one home and in plenty of time before the holidays πŸ™‚

  11. SoX

I have been waiting for a red coat … this is my coat … mine!

  12. Kate

Duchess of Cambridge. She would wear this coat. And, so would I. Will be snapping up the red and the white. I really, really love a winter white coat. So elegant. Speaking of the Duchess, she’s been wearing lots of waist seams that are higher which makes her long legs look even longer. You designers….sigh.

    1. Goldie76

Agree about the Duchess, Kate. And she is current. Sometimes I reach back for my icons, but the Duchess of Cambridge is my favorite contemporary fashion icon. Thanks for pulling her name forward.

  13. Goldie76

How smart and snappy! Love the collar! This is the “Gold Nugget Coat!” It looks gorgeous, Louis.

    1. Goldie76

By the way, I appreciate the direction you took with the buttons. The logo would have placed this garment in a different category, as you so wisely assessed. Politics aside (waaay aside), I believe Nancy Reagan would have loved this coat.

      1. louis dell'olio

Since I dressed Nancy on occasion I think you’re right

        1. Goldie76

Louis, your “bona fides” are so impressive. It is no wonder that we Linea Ladies feel lucky — and find it hard to resist your fashions and jewelry.
