“SCARLET RED WK JEWEL NECK CLASSIC”

crew

………………………The SCARLET RED JEWEL NECK L/S WK ENR SWEATER, A285546……………WOW……………Okay, let’s take a tally for fun. What sweater is or was avail in Scarlet red this season? The WK classic TN, A72448, the Wk TN swing, A268137 and the WK Poncho, A282513, which is getting INCREDIBLY GOOD REVIEWS!…..Of course the WK Scarlet skirt, A253411 ,Scarlet Coat, A284133 and the Scarlet Quilted jacket with the WK Trim, A267878, are all fabulous and work so well with the sweaters……So, I would say if you don’t want a TN, this jewel neck is a great alternative……..This is a new MUST HAVE …….One of the things I love about this SCARLET RED is…..it is a TRUE red, a pigment red. It does not lean torwards blue or orange. It really is the perfect RED. That’s why everyone can wear it……even red heads. Take a peek at the video of the Scarlet coat worn by Kate, a true red head. She looks fabulous in it. Blonds, this is your red. This is one color Jac doesn’t hesitate to wear…………….Once again, I love red with GOLD…..The single BAR pendant is coming back in Jan./Feb, and the RUSSIAN GOLD DINGLE DANGLE NECKLACE, J325473, is Β one of my all time favorites, and IMHO, is a necklace that is very overlooked. This is something you wear out to dinner, and women will be sure to ask, “excuse me, but where did you get that?” Two earring suggestions wouls be the Gold Ball Stud, J317109, or for all out glamour the BOLD HOOP, J288005. This sweater is a very simple timeless piece, and the SCAELET RED provides instant glamour!………………………..enjoy……….much Love…………….Louis

Goldie, you are close in your guess…I was “pinned” and then engaged to a West Point cadet, my first love, and spent four memorable and wonderful years visiting him at that beautiful “campus” on the Hudson, a fairy tale experience in many ways. But, alas, a tragic fate interceded shortly after he graduated and he was KIA in Vietnam. After grieving for so many years, decades later, I have the fondest memories of that time, and remember well each and every formal dance, what I wore, and how handsome he looked in his starched dress whites. Like a scene out of a movie…it’s so long ago, but lovely to recall. I couldn’t agree with you more…the military academy grads, your friend, the extraordinary Black Hawk pilot, the wonderful people you worked with at the Navy Annex & countless others who serve are truly special people.

      Dear Grace,

I read your post and then cried. How sorry I am to learn that this was how the West Point story unfolded. You are an extraordinary person, and I mean that from the truest part of my being.

Memories. They are ours forever to treasure — no one can take them away, and we can relive our golden moments as often as we care to. And what exquisite memories you created with your first love. May his memory be eternal…

Oh Goldie, I didn’t mean to make you sad and get too serious on Louis’ blog…At my age & stage, I really like looking back and remembering that time in my life. It’s less sad now and mostly sweet. And, I’ve been fortunate to have found another love that’s lasted 40 years and have my children. You are so right…the memories are ours forever to treasure and I just feel blessed that he was once in my life and remains in my heart. Thank you for the kind words…

You are remarkable. Don’t worry about my crying. Linea Ladies have led (and presently lead) lives that are full. We love, have heartache and we cry sometimes. In other words, we live. I am so glad you have a happy ending.

You are more than generous with your praise, Grace. I hope I do Louis proud, but these days I fully realize what I look like. When I wore the Malachite outfit to the fashion show/luncheon two years ago, I wore the “Fluted Bead Cross Necklace (J296898). At my height, that is all I could pull off. Also wore the magnificent “Hammered Button Earrings” (J284037) in Green.

About 10 days ago, I almost went to Europe for a quickie business trip. Because I knew nothing would be accomplished, I refused to go (it was all on my dime). However, because of my beautiful Linea garments and jewelry, I was able to think of packing and leaving in a hurry. Pre-Linea, I would have been frantic.

    1. Grace

Goldie, I think your choice of jewelry is just right! I missed my opportunity to get the “Hammered Button Earring” in Green (which I didn’t even know existed when I purchased my malachite boucle jacket), nor did I get the now sold out WK sweater in malachite. I’ve since learned that once Louis rolls out “the” colors for the season, I make sure I pick up the entire suite, which I did this time in the scarlet red. Have you noticed all the female news anchors wearing that gorgeous red shade now? Love it.

I also agree with you re/the ease of packing for a biz trip with Linea. I’m doing that today! I leave tomorrow and it’s all Linea–clothing, hosiery, jewelry–and perfectly coordinated. I don’t have to think much about it–I mostly “roll-and-go” making it less of a chore. When it’s a last minute trip–like the one you were about to take to Europe–it’s even more stress-free. I actually created a private Pinterest board filled with Linea travel outfits to specific cities, because sometimes I forget all that I own! This system gives me an easy checklist and simplifies it even more.

Louis, I love this scarlet so much – it really is the perfect red! I am such an oddball when it comes to reds (I drive myself nuts trying to find the perfect red any time I want to purchase anything in red) and I love this sweater. I have asked before and I will keep on asking for more of these classic styles in a bright pink/fuschia as well as your malachite – the most gorgeous green I’ve ever in my life seen. I adore my malachite items from your fall collection a few years ago more than any other colors you’ve done. Thank you (and Jac) for being so responsive to us.

And I remember having it at point B. (I think …)

  5. luvitorleaveit

I just ordered this today to add to my other red goodies very powerful but sexy color.

  6. Goldie76

Of course I love Scarlet Red, Louis, having bought the WK skirt, turtleneck and swing sweater in this shade. But I also love the “Dingle Dangle Necklace” in the Russian Gold. Love it so much, as a matter of fact, that after I lost it on a trip (how can one lose something that dingle-dangles?), I bought a replacement. Have all the other shades, too.

    1. louis dell'olio

maybe it was stolen, and you didn’t loose it?

      1. Goldie76

I can’t say that I didn’t worry and wonder about that, Louis. After all, the necklace is quite an eye-catcher and has those unique muffled dingle-dangle sounds. It does attract. If someone took it, I hope she is enjoying it (but I was a little burned to have to pay for it again).

        1. Louis Dell'Olio

          Were you in a hotel?

          1. Goldie76

Yes. But I went from point A to point B — two different hotels. For some reason, I was not aware of the loss until it was too late to call back.

    2. Grace

Hi Goldie, I went all-in on the scarlet red, too–the coat, skirt, TN, quilted jacket, TN swing & poncho! I didn’t think I could carry it off, but now I’m addicted to this color! Come the holidays, we won’t have to think twice about what to wear πŸ˜‰ Sorry you lost your necklace…you were lucky a replacement was still available. I also have the dingle dangle in gold, but your post reminded me that I need to check and see what other colors are in stock, before they vanish. It’s such a unique piece.

      1. Goldie76

Yes, Grace, I have a special fashion show/luncheon coming up in December, and I’ve already settled on Miss Scarlet as my outfit of choice. Two years ago I wore the Linea Malachite outfit that Rebecca (and I as well as so many others) still love when I attended the same affair. Funny about that Malachite. When it first arrived, I loved it but wished it were a wee bit bluer. Once again, though, when I wore it, I would hear what a great color it is on me. I am a onetime brunette who is older; so, maybe this Malachite is my new perfect green.

        1. Rebecca

Goldie, I think you and I are Louis’ biggest malachite fans (and now scarlet)! I actually painted my master bedroom that color and it is stunning! I saw a photo of a bedroom that color in a magazine or on HGTV (can’t recall where exactly) and fell in love with how it looked. I agonized over paint choices until I found the perfect shade and I could not be more pleased with how it looks.

Every single time I wear the malachite, I am complimented on what a good color it is for me. I do have green eyes and it almost seems to make them glow. I just feel good when I wear a color that I feel good in! πŸ™‚

          1. Goldie76

Rebecca, you must be startlingly beautiful in Malachite, what with your green eyes and all. It is odd that we are different types on the coloring chart and yet both receive compliments when wearing this color.

Wow! A bedroom in this nonpareil green. You are really a fan. It sounds lovely.

        2. Grace

Goldie, I can imagine how stunning the malachite must look on you! I think it is the perfect green. I have the boucle jacket in malachite and for the past few years, I’ve worn it to a Christmas Tea at the Brown Palace. I pull out all the stops and wear almost all my Linea Byzantine jewelry! This year, like you, I’m switching to Miss Scarlet, but the Byzantine jewelry will be making its annual appearance there. I think the “Scarlet Lovers Club” will have many members after this season. I wish we could post photos–what a hoot that would be!

          1. Goldie76

Placed my comments in the incorrect “Reply” box again. Darn!

I can only imagine how beautiful YOU looked wearing your Malachite to the Christmas Tea. You will surely stun wearing Miss Scarlet. It would be delicious to share how we all wear her this upcoming season. How I wish it would be possible.

            1. Grace

Thank you, Goldie, for the kind words πŸ™‚ I bet the Army Navy Country Club will be a spectacular setting for your holiday luncheon/fashion show. I’ve not been there, but when I was young, I had the pleasure & privilege of attending many formal events at West Point. Nowhere is pomp and circumstance executed more elegantly than at an iconic military venue–at least, in my experience. I can imagine how beautiful the country club will be for your event and what an ideal opportunity to “dress up” in Linea finery. Oh, what fun!

          2. Goldie76

Our luncheon/fashion show will be — for the first time — at the Army Navy Country Club. I haven’t been there in decades. Previously, the event’s sponsors held it at a country club in Vienna, Va.

            1. Goldie76

Grace, I sort of understand, between the lines, that “Mr. Grace” was West Point. When I lived in NYC, a family I knew and I went by West Point when we went up to the Nyack area. Fantastic area of our country! It must have been fabulous to participate in any of the celebrations put on by West Point.

The closest I have come to this sort of thing is being part of a group that has military academy grads and/or enlistees as the primary component. This, of course, happens (happened to me) routinely working in the D.C. area. My FAVORITE work experience of my life occurred when I worked as a technical writer, and then systems analyst, at the Navy Annex. All the managers were graduates of the Naval Academy, and they were the most wonderful people to work with. I nearly had my first child at the Annex, as a matter of fact. He came three weeks early, and the most handsome Academy grad (who was scheduled to go to Pensacola for flight training, as I recall) took me to the hospital. My husband was delayed at work, and this darling young man wheeled me around the hospital until my hubby arrived. Just so you know that I am impartial when it comes to the military, one of my VERY favorite people in the world, under whom I worked with pleasure, was an Army enlistee who went through “Mother Rucker” and made his way up at the Pentagon and then FAA. He was an Army Ranger and Black Hawk pilot who was part of the attack on Mogadishu in 1992 (?). He later was an advisor on the movie “Black Hawk Down” and had a bit part in the film (the guy with the sunglasses and beard on the helicopter with another pilot). Wonderful guy and fantastic leader! Plain and simple, I adore him.

Anyway, no one knows how to put on an affair with pomp and circumstance like the military. That is true.

              Have a safe trip!

            2. Goldie76

I meant to write that he wore goggles — not sunglasses — in his scene where he is in the helicopter with another pilot. He told me his own mother didn’t recognize him. (He does not wear a beard in real life.)
