“Why do we keep coming back to Anguilla?”

Anguilla 22

……………………….THE BEACH!!!!!!!!…………………..The Calm, Clear Beautiful Aqua water, and white sand beaches are why we keep coming back…………..In the distance you can see the island of St. Maarten…………..It’s a great day trip, if it’s cloudy and you want to do some duty free shopping……We never made it over! We spend the day laying in lounge chairs under big umbrellas….reading. I got through three and a half books……Jac read five or six……I can’t keep up!…..In between reading…..dips into the Caribbean…….The white Moorish type building in the background is Pimms, the Cap Juluca restaurant. The view at night from the restaurant, when all the lights of the villas are on, is just incredible…………………..Glad to be home, but can’t wait to go back!

    Ah, Louis and Jac
Haven’t been back to Anguilla in two years. First time ever there got a suite with a roof top patio where I could go up with drinks at night…Absolutely stunning with a black sky and stars twinkling like sitting in the heavens…have never seen stars like that! Pimms on the water at night has the most incredibly beautiful view. Found Cap Juluca in 1995 to take my daughter, who was getting her Doctorate at Harvard, for a surprise trip for working so hard. We left directly after the graduation. A French friend who had visited at its opening told me about Cap Juluca and it lived up to its description!. And it has only gotten more glorious with each visit. I loved watching Anquillans who teach sailing….move over the water far off into the horizon to come back hours later …my bad croquet play and driving around the Island years ago ran into a drive thru Ben and Jerry’s ice cream. My fav ice cream! In 1995 when Cap Juluca had just opened, Anquillian government required all new businesses to partner with a local Anqullian, so strangers would never take over economic well being of the island. I love Anguilla! The photos of Jac are gorgeous…those stripped tops are fabulous…not sure why just black sold well. I love the orange and green! your colors beautiful and are Island worthy.

Dear Victoria…….we too were there the first year it opened…..when there was a dirt bumpy road leading to the hotel before they paved it. They are closing the place down for a total renovation! I told the manager not to RUIN the place and make it slick! like they did at the Malliouhana…….which looks like an Arab brothel when you walk in. The pool there is much nicer and the dining room is better but I hear they took out all of the beautiful mahogany in the rooms and painted them!!!!Some designers have to leave their mark….even if it’s a terrible one. I told the manager of CJ the reason people come back is because of how it looks so don’t make a BIG mistake. I did tell him the pool was terrible, and he agreed……………..I too don’t know why the Tees in the green/white and orange/white didn’t sell better. Women wear lots of white tees????? Jac loves them….they are cool and comfy….perfect for a casual evening out when she wants her arms covered.

Louis- Thanks for sharing the beautiful vacation pictures with your fans.
    Any good summer reading suggestions?

Dear dianeb…..Jac usually picks out books for me….she knows what I like and don’t like. This time she was spot on. The only book I picked was “The Miniaturist”, by Jessie Burton. It takes place in Amsterdam in the sixteen hundreds. I love Amsterdam and could picture the places discussed. Lots of twists and unexpected turns…..”The Price of Illusion” by Joan Juliet Buck. She was the Editor in Chief of Paris Vogue, and has always been in the fashion business. It was interesting to read about all the people I know. My only complaint is….it wasn’t dishy enough!….a fun read if your interested in the business behind the scenes…….”All the Light you can not See” by Anthony Doerr……about a blind girl in Paris during WW11…..very good……..”THE LIGHTKEEPERS” by Abby Geni…….very unusual, again good plot twists……..”The Confessions of Young Nero” by Margaret George. If you like ancient Rome, Pompeii, Baiae [a little known resort city near Pompeii which has sunk under the sea], you will find this very interesting. It is a novel based on fact and actual events. Throw out all you thought you knew about Nero. None of it is true and you will discover a very interesting man, and the intrigues of becoming and staying a Roman Emperor…….lots of murders!
