This is a reminder more than a sneak peek. With all the jewelry that I accessorize the clothes with…..some of it unfortunately is not available. With the new scarf tops and the new solid colors of Chili Pepper, Straw, Peacock etc…..I wanted to show you in the photos above how well the MULTI COLOR BYZANTINE BEADS, J267612, look with everything. The BYZANTINE CROSS, J264036, is back in stock, and looks fabulous with all the paisleys too. Also, the BYZANTINE EARRING, J267611, which many of you own, also works beautifully with this July group of clothing…………….more sneak peeks to come……much Love, Louis

Louis:
It appears there is another style of necklace in the photo with the Chili Pepper top–one that has mixed metal spacer rondelles, chunkier beads, and large chain link spacers. Am I just confusing this with another necklace, or are we getting a third version of the Byzantine bead necklace?
Thanks,
crdllb
That is from my personal collection. I used it to show how you could mix necklaces together.
Louis,
I can’t wait to bring two of these scarf tops home to me! Of course I will be wearing them with your jewelry. When will you be showing these tops on QVC?
Thanks,
Dariann
July 31st at 4:00pm my time. Have you gotten the color beads yet? They really look great on each of the scarf tops.
I love the new earrings for a more casual look for all the Byzantine pieces I already have and love. Thanks, Louis!
Are you referring to the new chandelier or the new Byzantine earrings? The chandelier is definitely more of a Bohemian/Gypsy look, and looks great with prints and the new paisleys and solids. The Byzantine drop is more refined and can work for both the Bohemian or dressier looks a la Chanel…….Just finish a biography on Ms. Chanel…..what a piece of work!
Watch it, kiddo. She’s a fellow Leo. 🙂
Still a piece of WORK!
Oh, I already have the Byzantine drops in purple and green. And I have the red version of the new chandelier earrings that I bought on the bay. Sample that QVC didn’t purchase. What I was referring to was the new multi-colored chandeliers. Love the Bohemian/Rich Peasant look :-).
I have a wonderful bio of Coco Chanel with abundant pictures that OG gave to me for Christmas a while back. IMO we women owe her a debt of gratitude in freeing us from constricting, confining clothes. Some of my favorites are among her early designs, inspired by sailors. But yes, she was a piece of work as you say. And her support of Nazi policies most shameful.
Do you have the chandelier in the solid red stones? They were the chili pepper samples the Q didn’t buy. The multi color version goes with everything. I have been using them for years.
Chanel certainly changed the way women dressed and was part of the first womens’ movement by liberating her from all the corsetry, but Paul Poiret, who was her main rival, was doing the exact same thing. He, however, was too costumey and lost his following as Chanel became stronger and stronger. Her close relations with the Nazi and a particular horrific officer, almost was her doom. She died a very lonely and sad woman. In the end, it is said, she paid for her sins……….
Yes! That is the earring I bought on the bay that you said was a sample. They do have a brownish cast. Interesting that Paul Poiret is not at all known. Chanel took up the oxygen in the room it seems. Most narcissists end up sad and lonely IMO.
There is a huge coffee table book called “Poiret” by Yvonne Deslandres. It’s quite amazing and he as quite amazing. He gave the most lavish parties and had incredible friends. For being such a revolutionary designer, it is quite amazing how he got stuck and never evolved. That is where Coco left him in the dust. He died almost forgotten and bankrupt.
Hi Louis, Hi Barbara —
Very much enjoyed your exchange about Coco Chanel. In the last year I’ve had the pleasure of seeing three movies (on cable) about Coco’s life — Coco Before Chanel, Coco Chanel (with Shirley MacLaine), and Coco Chanel & Igor Stravinsky — recommend all three. Her life was complicated and she was “a piece of work,” but her style lives on. Looking forward to reading more about her life and about Poiret too. Thanks for your interesting discussion.
Kind regards,
TourEiffel
Louis ~ Who is the author of the Chanel biography? (aka TheOwl)
It’s called “COCO CHANEL….an intimate life”, by Lisa Chaney. It really delves into who the woman was and what made her tick…..an interesting read. A sad end to a remarkable woman.
Thanks Louis. Just downloaded it to my Kindle. Sounds like an interesting summer read.
