There was no question for me what would be my first OFFICIAL SNEAK PEEK for September……..it is A228371, the TWEED BLAZER. If I were to characterize this group of clothing that will be on my two hour September 10th show, [with Sandra], it would be ……………………..TOWN & COUNTRY……………….You have been asking for a TWEED jacket for a long time and I finally found a fabric that I feel epitomizes what “TWEED” is all about. A true tweed is a textured fabric with different color yarn…..it is not about a pattern or design, though tweed yarns can be made into different patterns, such as plaids.. Typically, tweeds are thought of as “English” jackets worn in the country….. because of there more casual attitude. My tweed blazer is a blend of Polyester, Acrylic and WOOL. It it a three button jacket and has long sleeves [which can easily be shorten for those who will need to have that alteration done]. The jacket measures approx. 25 1/2 to 26 inches for the XS size. I would say this jacket fits very similarly to the plaid jacket from last month…..that came in the mushroom and black combinations. If you chose a small or a med. etc in that jacket, I would advise the same size in this jacket. This jacket is surprisingly light in weight and can easily be worn indoors. Come October, when a real chill comes in and the leaves start to turn colors, this jacket will be the perfect answer to the changeable weather………add a shawl or scarf for color….and off you go. I will say the photos do not do either coloration justice……I tried, but just could not get the depth of color and richness each fabric has.
The colors for the tweed are ………TARRAGON…….or………WALNUT………..The Tarragon has shades of sage, brown, caramel, forest, rust and a pale linden green. The Walnut has predominately persimmon, wine, and a wonderful ochre gold….all woven though the walnut ground. There are many new items coming to mix and match with either jacket , and in many new colors………as well as many you already own……. For a real casual look layer the new PERSIMMON mock neck, A217630, with the CHINO “ROBYN” shirt, A213617 under the WALNUT TWEED….. a pair of jeans and boots………and a saddle color shoulder bag will finish the TOTAL LOOK. The SAGE GEORGETTE SAFARI SHIR T, A214117, that many of you own, looks marvelous under the Tarragon jacket. …..wear it with an olive WK tank. Of course the PALE OLIVE and WHITE “KATE” shirt, A214116, is a natural under either jacket…..pop over the shirts the WK V-NECK SWEATER, A217629 , or the WK CARDIGAN, A217628, in a wonderful color like the aubergine or olive….just to add a little more spice. In the photo, just below the tweed swatch, you can see the waist whittling cardigan A217983, in TARRAGON with a sneak peak new WK turtleneck color coming in Nov……TOPAZ……. The new Tarragon and Walnut WHISPER KNIT PANT is a ….MUST HAVE coordinate! It will be avail in petites too….more on that later. You will be surprised how many things you already have hanging in your closets or folded in your draws that will work with these two jackets. The AVOCADO water color print, A219795 gives that very editorial mix of patterns and textures when paired with the Tarragon tweed. I know you will have fun mixing and matching.
The beads and earrings in all of the photos are NEW LINEA and are scheduled to be delivered this month! If you have a very sharp eye, you will have noticed the broach peeking out from under the Walnut Tweed lapel….that’s coming too…..in November.
I know this is a jacket that will add something extra special to your existing ward robes…..a timeless piece that IS an INSTANT CLASSIC……….ENJOY, much Love Louis
Louis, I’m playing catch-up with the sneak peeks, because Issac knocked out my electricity for 5 days. You should have seen me trying to get a good look at the tweed jacket on my little iphone screen! Now that I can see it on a larger screen I must have one, in spite of our warm winters here in New Orleans. You said that it’s “light weight” and that’s all I needed to hear, lol. Anyway, I’m not sure which color is which in the sneak peek. Is the lower right jacket the Walnut? And the larger picture to the left of center at the bottom is the Tarragon? That one looks a little lighter in the picture, but is that just the lighting? We always have so many questions, and you are always so kind to answer!
Dear Yvette….the Walnut is on the right and is darker than the Tarragon which is on the left.
Hi Louis,
Lovely jacket–so classic. You mentioned that it is surprisingly light in weight and can be worn indoors. How would you compare the weight and thickness of the fabric to the plaid jacket that was presented last month? Thank you. Really looking forward to the shows next week.
Carol
Definitely lighter weight….it’s hard to compare thickness because this jacket has thick and thin yarns.
Coco’s jackets. The L in Luxery. Clothing made so well, you could turn the inside out and wear them. Lined in 100% silk crepe de chine. But as you say, today fabric is made more beautiful and vibrant through synthetics.
Dear Louis,
A question if I might; feel free to ignore if you’re not ready to talk about 😉 …
Upper left photo of Tarragon Jacket: Is that a new green pleated skirt, or is the photo making last month’s nice black pleated skirt (already in my closet) take on a green cast due to camera lights?
Thanks for the Tarragon! Cathy in PA
There is no holding you ladies back…..sharp eyes want to know! Yes that is a brand spanking new sunburst pleated skirt that will be avail. in BLACK and TARRAGON. Some sunburst pleated skirts are half or full circles and there is a lot of fullness to them and can be quite heavy….that is not the silhouette I was going for. This is a much slimmer sunburst skirt….still a pull-on and weighs nothing. It is the same fabric as the new blouse with the streamer ties.
Thank You 🙂 !!!

Louis,
In Beverly Hills there is a fabric shop called Beverly Silks and Woolens. It’s where many movie costume designers and stars shop. Across the street was a fabric “Boutique” of select imported fabrics from Europe, only. This tweed you’ve brought us reminds me of a wool in orange, black and ivory tweed I fell in love with from Milan. The weave and everything is exact in appearance. Forget what I paid but the fact that you bring us these jackets–in wool, no less– at these price points is A-MAZING.
They are gorgeous, versatile and “friends” we’ll have in our closets a lifetime!
I love the way you have given us exact match beads. I’ll be getting both colors b/c they are incredible.
The way they pop against this tarragon color is beautiful, and the terragon green looks so rich.
Town & Country indeed! Perfect match for my leather chestnut colored accessories this fall.
Thank you, Louis
Cela
P.S I can’t wait for the rust and topaz t necks on the way, getting both!
Dear Celia….The beads are amazing and I ill post the sneak peek today. I think I may have misled you….the rust is the TOPAZ. There is only one….but, the WK turtleneck will be coming in TOPAZ, DEEP TEAL and FUCHSIA. When I saw this fabric, that is exactly what I thought. It reminded me of the tweeds I would find in the Scottish and Irish mills. The same ones that Coco bought from. There is very little difference in the look. Of course the fibers in the expensive ones are better, but then you aren’t paying $3500 for the jacket. Most of the tweeds, especially the ones with many colors, have a variety of yarns, including acrylic, nylon and yes, polyester…….even the ones from Coco.
In that case I’ll get the Turtleneck in topaz, and the Mockneck in persimmon, b/c I love the way these colors play against the tweeds and even the plaid jackets.
Thank you, Louis.
The cardigan sweater, blouse and trousers …in tarragon have me panting heavily! Jacket is SUPERB!
Louis, what do you think of the tarragon tweed jacket with the olive herringbone pants? The pattern in the pants is so subtle that I think the two might look good together.
I love this jacket in both color ways, although everything Tarragon is a siren song to me :). Can’t wait to see more!
Thanks,
Cathy in PA
I am a bit perplexed by the colors. I am definitely a cool skin tone, which color combo would be the best. I don’t usually look good in camel and some greens are wonderful on me and I’ve been told, make my blue eyes pop. I do love the tarragon and the jackets are wonder, just not sure about the colors
I’m planning on wearing this with a pair of skinny jeans and boots. Now I just have to decide on the color!
Ditto, on the skinny jeans and boots….and deciding which color. LOL
Lovely blazer! Sophisticated too.
Covet!!! Louis, do the Cassis from last year and the Aubergine work under the Walnut colorway? Thanks!
The aubergine, definitely. The cassis color is not in the tweed at all, but with the right accessories…..I know you have lots of scarves, you could make it work. I will have more in Oct to work with the cassis and there are lots of solids in Sept that will work……the walnut WK pant is the deepest darkest brown you will ever see….and will look great with the cassis….it’s a beauty.
When do you leave?
Tomorrow!!! We’re in the last minute throes of packing and re-packing and weighing and re-weighing, measuring and re-measuring so as to avoid the outrageous $200 extra weight charge per bag! Our weather will be quite different from yours. Warm during the days, but the temps drop the minute the sun sets going down to the low 60s very quickly. So my big suitcase is bulging with Linea!!! The lady at Loden Plankl just wrote that my cape arrived and I’ll stop by early next week after getting settled in to talk about repair vs. replacement. That old cape holds many memories for me :-). The cab from the airport to the apartment is arranged, as is meeting with our land lady. Am already missing my animals, but that is the way it always is. :-). I’ll be watching you and Jac from my laptop and ordering and you can look for me waving to you both from across the Alps and then the pond!
Dear Louis,
Love it! Will the tarragon work with your black skirts and slacks?
Thanks,
Dariann
Absolutely….the Tarragon with black is beautiful…..the white “Kate” shirt thrown in for an accent would be beautiful too.
Lovely. Will the tarragon work at all with last year’s paisley skirt or is this too out there? Are those green pants the new whisper knit?
I put the Tarragon tweed jacket with the olive boho paisley and you know you would see something like that in ELLE or Marie Claire. The skirt is definitely more powerful than the jacket so you would have to balance it out with whatever you wear under the jacket…..sweaters, accessories etc……otherwise it will be too bottom heavy……but….with a little imagination, it could definitely work. The skirt however, does look great with the new leather/knit blazer in Tarragon!!!Yes, those are the Tarragon Whisper Knit pant….plus Black and Walnut. I am telling you, when you put these on….you will NOT want to wear another pant ever!!I did a WK pant years ago and the women who have them are still wearing them and have begged me to do another pair. It was a battle to get these bought and I hope there aren’t too many returns so I can add more colors. If it were up to me this is the only pant I would run. The hang is gorgeous, you know how whisper knit feels, and how easy care it is. so there is no need to go there…..and there is nothing that takes color better…..they are the best in every way!
I’m going to give the paisley and tweed a go! As for the pants, you had me at Whisper Knit. Returns will only happen if women don’t know what size to order to get the ease around the hips and thighs they need, even if that means having to take in the waist. I sometimes wish the hosts would mention the ease of tailoring to fit one’s particular figure but they don’t, which leaves many women thinking there is something wrong with a garment if it isn’t a perfect fit out of the box. And let me say the Q’s online measurements aren’t much help of one if between sizes! If you’re able to give any advice on fit, please do because I really need these pants in navy.
I honestly think what ever size you are in the knit pencil skirt you would be in this pants. They are done in the every needle rib construction so they are not flimsy in any way. Due to this construction, they are quite compact, but still have great stretch. The leg opening is not small so the leg is not skinny. We fit these pants many times just to make sure there was a nice EASE to them. They really look great.I will have Jac try on my XS sample and get her “fit” advise.
Ah, the tweed we have been asking for! It’s fabulous, it will be mine. Thank you for bringing this one to us.
This…..this is amazing! Must have!
Just beautiful, Louis! Which one will look best with my olive boho and olive trousers? I’ll be adding the coordinating jewelry to my list, too. Oh, and is that a new tarragon blouse I see under the matching cardi?
With olive the Tarragon works the best…..that said there is also olive in the walnut tweed so it does work with that too…..but the Tarragon is easier to mix with all of your olive pieces and yes, that is a Tarragon blouse.
Wow. It looks beautiful. Thank-you for designing a classic tweed that I can wear for many seasons. Thanks again for the sneak peaks. I can choose my pieces after window shopping, order at midnight and avoid the live show frenzy. Will get the walnut.
Mmm, mmm, mmm! I’m going to have to get a second job to buy all this great stuff!
