…………………..For many years Jac and I spent wonderful vacations on the Island of Anquila…..Why Anguila? Let’s start with the beautiful beaches, and the tranquil laid back pace of the island. The minute you step onto the island your whole body and mind starts to relax. The Cap Juluca Hotel is paradise. I hope it survived the hurricane and it hasn’t changed much. We loved staying there. Everyone was always so friendly………I always loved the colors of Anguila and I have taken hundreds of photos of the flowers and ferns and palm trees…..all so beautiful and inspiring. This was the theme and the inspiration of my new “ISLAND FLORAL” maxi dress………..I hope you enjoy it, and can see the inspiration within the patterns of the dress…….much Love…..Louis

Hi, Louis. Cap Jaluca will reopen for business on November 17h. They had pretty severe, if not total, destruction from the hurricane. That chandelier you loved so much was destroyed as were the dining rooms, as well as the loss of palm trees, etc. But life goes on and they rebuilt and the people will once again have jobs if the tourists come back. Their website talks about the resort being “reimagined.” I wish them the best of luck.

When we were there LAST JUNE, I was told the beautiful iconic chandelier was going and wasn’t part of the new renovation…..new owners……I hope they don’t ruin the beauty of the place for all the people who loved it. We weren’t getting positive vibes from the new managers! They were removing the breakfast and lunch open air restaurant on the beach and building more rooms! I don’t see myself ever going back there. It would be too painful.
Louis,
Love those beautiful flowers. I first went to Anquilla in 1995. My daughter was graduating from Harvard and I wanted to give her a getaway gift after all the hard work. I saw an ad for Cape Juluca and fell in love. We love this beautiful resort. We arrived from Puerto Rico late so by the time we arrived from the airport and checked it, we were happy but exhausted. Our suite had a private roof top deck. My goodness, we opened a bottle of wine and climbed up to a navy blue sky filled with more stars than I have ever seen in my life. The weather and that sky stole my heart. It was a magical time. I learned that every business on the Island owned by a foreign entity had to partner with a Anguillan citizen to get a business license. A smart way for Anguillans to control growth on their Island. Was the Ben and Jerry’s drive thru there when you first arrived on that tiny island? There were few Americans on Anguilla in 1995, mostly Europeans. I know why you and Jac loved it. Have gone back many times. Outside The resort…it was always a shock Anguilla had scrub vegetation… sitting on that incredible beach watching Anguillans wind sail out to the horizon was magical. Dinner under that night sky…
