September Sneak Peek #3 is actually two items…..the WHISPER KNIT LONG PULL SWEATER, A228341…..and…..the WHISPER KNIT PULL-ON PANT, A228555 [regular length 32 inches], and A228556 for the petite, [approx length 26 inches].
For quite some time many have been asking for a LONGER length sweater in WK….here it is. This sweater has a lovely ballet neckline, long sleeves and measures approx. 29 inches for the XS. It is in the WK jersey [the same as the essential sweaters]. The colors are………….TARRAGON……….WALNUT [a very dark brown]…..and……….BLACK….Jac wants all colors but three in black. This is the type of sweater you can wear very casual with jeans or leggings , or very dressy with a sequin or lace skirt…..even a floor length skirt with some dazzling jewelry will be the chicest, and unexpected, BLACK TIE look. As you can see from the photos, this sweater takes all of the LINEA JEWELRY very well……it is the perfect canvas for accessories.. Belt it with a wide or narrow waist belt…….or a fabulous belt slung on the hips to create a totally different look. I love the sweater over the white “Kate” shirt…..leggings and a short denim jean jacket. It looks terrific with the sweater pulled way down below the jacket for that very “edgy” layered look. For my petites……I can hear you say….”it’s very nice, but not for me”. I say “it absolutely is for you”. Wear it with tights, or leggings and boots or shoe booties all in the same color…..to create a longer look……wear it with a short pencil skirt, again with matching tights and shoes…….push up the sleeves for a “ruched look”….throw on some wonderful bangles…..and I guarantee you….you will look like a million dollars….and very modern too!
The A228555 and the A228556, has been a long time coming! I did a WK pant years ago and they were fabulous, however, they were not reordered. I believe the reason for that was two fold……one the colors….if my memory serves, they were in black, magenta and a teal. It is always tricky trying to sell pants in “fashion colors”. The second reason was……high returns due to multiple buying of sizes. As happens so often, many women buy two sizes and return the one they like least. I know this happens, but it will kill any chance for a reorder, no matter how big the wait list or even with zero inventory. I only say this for you…..for you to have the opportunity to be able to get these pants in more colors next year…….. Buy wisely. The women who own them, Jac being one of them, swear by them!!! They are done in the EVERY NEEDLE RIB, which is the same construction as the knit pull-on pencil skirt, A09484. They DO NOT BAG. they wash beautifully as you already know from your other WK pieces, and the colors [………BLACK…..TARRAGON…..WALNUT…..] are saturated and STAY that way. Anyone who owns a WK will tell you how WONDERFUL they FEEL on the BODY. You should definitely buy these pants in your REGULAR size. When we fit them, and there were many fittings to get them just right, we made sure the leg was easy enough so there was no grabbing or hugging….and Whisper Knit DOES NOT CLING! The bottom leg opening is approx. 8 1/2 inches, not narrow, not overly wide……..for this pant in this fabric…..perfect.They are the best travel pant, and because the colors are so rich and the Walnut and Black are so deep, they go with absolutely everything. You will see one of the new trends of the up coming season is to tuck shirts into pants…..if you decide this may be something you will try…..these are the perfect pants to do that look with…why?……because there is a lot of stretch in this very comfortable waist band, and you will not feel confined or STUFFED. I envision the likes of Julie Christie, Lauren Hutton and even Jackie Kennedy…. strutting down Madison Ave. with the paparazzi taking her picture, wearing this sweater and pant. If I were to do only one pant from now on….. this would be the pant, that is how much I love them. I hope those of you who try them for the first time will feel the same way…………….Enjoy, much Love……..Louis
P.S. Sorry I can’t give you a better picture of the pants but, I can’t get pants on my mannequin.
Stunning outfits Louis. And the pale olive pieces we already have would probably look great with the new walnut tweed too, right? As for persimmon, you designed it for the walnut pieces moreso than the tarragon tweed, but are there going to be tweed skirts or pants to coordinate with persimmon or is the collection taking a new color direction for Oct. and Nov.? You’re so patient!
I haven’t checked but I would say the pale olive pieces as in the crew neck short sleeve sweater and the “Kate” shirt would work with both…..maybe the TARRAGON more. I like the persimmon with the walnut. There are no tweed bottoms. I did the persimmon as a pure accent color to go with walnut, olive, gray, navy etc…..a color that works with the Linea collection, but will work with things you already own. Oct and Nov. take on a new direction with new colors. But if you are watching the 4pm show…..all will be revealed!
Thanks so much. Can’t wait for the show!
Louis,
Is a long cardigan coming? What do you see us layering over the tunic sweater?
Give us a scenario. Do “an outfit”. For example, ww cardigan, georgette blouse, wk pants, so we can get a visual, please.
(Love that you did them in the multi needle, that’s my fav skirt, ever) Also, do you see us wearing it under any of the new jackets, maybe with the Kate shirt over it, belted? Louis, we want to see your most scrumptous vision. 😀
I’m not sure I understand all the parts of your question, but hear goes.
1-the tunic sweater in black tarragon and walnut. The only type of sweater I see over the tunic is a shrug or a sweater jacket or cardigan that is at least as long as the tunic….none of which I have coming. I will have a kimono type “essential” cardigan coming in a few months that might be very special over the tunic. I do see the tunic worn under all kinds of jackets. Today it is an acceptable look to have sweaters, or tops in general, which are longer than the jackets and there will be some of those looks in the show. Some who are more traditional, don’t like this look, but I think it can be fun. I don’t see the Kate shirt over it but I do see it layered under it For instance:
1- White Kate shirt, black tunic over it, black legging, WK pant, or pencil skirt and my new Black leather/knit combination jacket over all of it.
2-Tarragon tunic over jeans, boots and the Tarragon tweed blazer.
3-WK turtleneck or mock neck in aubergine, caramel, persimmon or the new topaz [coming in Oct/Nov],with the Walnut tunic, jeans, the Walnut WK pant and Walnut tweed jacket or a short cropped jean jacket.
That’s just a few ideas off the top of my head….
Dear Louis,
Is this sweater the same fabric as the WK turtleneck? The mention of “jersey” is confusing me … and while I have the boatneck sweaters in all colors from spring, my only WK pieces to date are the wonderful turtlenecks. Wondering in particular because of sizing; in both the above sweaters, I had to size “down” to a 2X and got a perfect, with ease, fit … and as a PEAR, wondering in this longer sweater if I should stick to the 2X or go with the 3X. Your thoughts would be most appreciated. I want 2 Tarragon, 1 Walnut and 1 Black 🙂
Apologies for so many questions, but we do try, to the best of our limited abilities with online shopping, to MINIMIZE returns.

Cathy don’t be confused….yes it is the same as the turtlenecks just knitted a little heavier for pants. Jersey is a technical term. The TN are jersey knit….the pant is an Every Needle knit. It’s not important for you to know. I would stay with the 2X. Why two Tarragon….just asking?
Dear Louis,
It’s the Sweater I was asking about … if it’s the same fabric as the WK turtlenecks, and same cut for sizing guidleines? Sorry I wasn’t more clear … with all the frenzy over the pants …
Ask away … 2 Tarragon Sweaters for me, in either 2X or 3X depending on your advice, because I simply adore the color, and I live and travel with big Walter, and little Walter and a dog … something will happen, especially if I only get one LOL.

The tunic and turtle neck are the same knit. I really do not like to give fit advise because my samples are size XS and the plus size garments are fit on a plus model. This tunic is not bigger than the turtleneck….if anything I would say it is slightly slimmer, but I have no measurements to go by. If you are a true 2x….I would say 2x. if you are between sizes and like things on the loose side than I would say 3x….you know better than me what your comfort zone is. I hope I have given you some insite as to which size to order.
Thanks Louis, yes, that’s a help. I know it’s hard, especially with plus sizes, and really appreciate the insights. It is a special help to know it’s the same fabric as the WK turtleneck. Every sweater from the WK turtleneck to the boatneck to the lace trimmed cardigan has fit me much better in the 2X than 3X, and there’s plenty of ease. Pants, jackets and dresses I stick with the 3X but sometimes have to have the tops altered for a slimmer fit. Will see what Q does with the measurements and compare to the sweaters I already have as well.
Thanks again,
Cathy in GREEN PA
Love, love, love. One of each for me, plus seconds of the black and walnut pants. I ADORE knit pants, and cannot wait for it to be cold enough here to wear them. This fall collection is simply incredible!
Thanks ever so much,
crdlb
There is some discussion about whether or not the new WK pants are the same cut as the originals. I pulled mine out this morning and posted the item number and didn’t realize they were called “skinny” pants. Can you please let us know if the new pants are the same cut or are they cut larger? I think it will help us decide what size to order. Thanks Louis. I cannot even tell you how happy I am that these pants have come back!
Jules
BUY the same size you have. The new ones have a wider bottom opening but not much….they are 8 1/2 ” but that does not effect the top fit.
Louis, the herringbone petite inseam was 29 in and all of your other petite pants have been 29 inch. Could it be a typo or error in the measurements. 26in is almost like a crop pants.
I may be very wrong….I am checking with the manufacturer. They probably are 28-29 inches
Does the WK long sweater have side slits?
NO….but it is very stretchy and not tight
will the new whisper knit pants be in numeric or letter sizes. Thank you!
Letter sizes.
I am a petite in pants and your other petite pants had a 29″ inseam which had to be shortened. I think the 26″ would be perfect for me. I hope that is the correct measurement. Will the pants be available ONLY in black and walnut?Looking forward to Sept. 10th. Thanks. By the way your pictures from London and Vienna were wonderful. Thanks for those.
Hi Louis, can the sweater pants be hemmed? Petite at 29 1/2″ is perfect, but 26″ is way too short. I am not able to wear a heel tall enough to wear the 32″ as is. Fingers crossed for your answer.
Yes, they can be hemmed like all other pants with a blind stitch and a good press. I am checking to make sure the petite is 26 inches. If it is different I will get back to you if it is 26″….I won’t
Louis, is 26″ the correct inseam on the pants? It seems short. Thanks….
That is the petite length, the regular inseam is 32 inches.
More qustions: is that a new tarragon pleated skirt shown above with the long sweater? Is it a woven fabric or is it WK and when can I buy it!!!–Blinddongs
It is a poly crepe and the shirt with the ties is the same fabric. It is pull-on and light as a feather….it is supposed to be on my Sept 10th show, but there has been discussion about moving it….I am fighting to keep it on the Seot show where it belongs…….everything is a battle.
Louis, is this “poly crepe” similar to the fabrication of the solid mushroom (also offered in black but gone in my size) pleated skirt which I am loving? I think THAT is light as a feather. Is this the same or lighter weight?
Is the WK turtleneck you have featured in so many shots with the new tweed jacket – the caramel color which is sadly all sold out?
Also, on the WK pant, I took a size 2X in the longer pencil skirt offered last Christmas in black, perfectly pink and fawn (I got them all, plus the matching cardis I have to admit – but hey, it was my only requested Christmas gift from dear hubby 😉 …. so you are saying, since I absolultely never order 2 sizes at once …. that my best bet is the 2X? I have a “collection” of the Linea pencil skirt (shorter one) and I found out early that the sizing on those is very, very forgiving. I’m still wearing Linea pencil skirts ranging from L to 1X and they all look fine. I could NEVER get away with that range of sizes in a woven. I plan to take the plunge on these pants in both black and walnut and unless you advise otherwise – I’ll go with the 2X of my most recent longer pencil skirt purchases. It would be extremely sad to have these pants disappear simply due to returns for size changes.
If you are a true 2x then yes that would be good for the whisper knit
Yes the crepes are similar, but honestly, I don’t remember if they are exactly the same…..if it’s that important to you I will check….but they are similar….this one may be a little lighter because of the blouse.
Louis, not to worry! If they are close “neighbors” I’m gonna love the fabric 🙂
Louis, I’ve already received the re-order cardigan in the new tarragon color and I LOVE it! I thought I had every shade of green imaginable in my closet but you surprised even this ‘greenie’! Of course I must have the long tunic-y sweater and the pants in this new green. One question: the pants are described as WK, but then you say they are the double needle knit like the classic pencil skirt, which is much heavier than the usual WK fabric. Of course, a heavier fabric makes the pencil skirt ‘hang’ so well without clinging. So is the new pant the WK fabric and weight but just constructed with double needle knitting? THANKS!–Blinddogs
First the skirt is an acrylic/wool blend and the pant in WK is rayon/nylon, so even though they are knitted in the same construction there will be a difference due to the difference in the yarn…..all that said the WK knit is heavier and more compact in the ENR than the WK jersey sweaters. I would say the pant is definitely more like the acrylic/wool skirt in weight than the WK jerseys sweaters. Of course the WK is softer and smoother than the acrylic/wool. They are substantial enough to give the pant a wonderful hang and actually they are heavier than many poly/rayon/span woven pants I have done.
Thanks so much for your detailed reply. So now you are adding the leather/sweater jacket in TARRAGON, too? Of course I have to have that too. Many thanks for your patience with all of us asking so many questions.
High chic alert! My eyes feel as though they just ate from the finest cuisine.
