Since The blouse is already on the LINEA site and ready to sell, I thought I’d better post my sneak peek! Actually, this will be TWO SNEAK PEEKS…….the first being the BLOUSE with the TIES, A228338….the second being the SUNBURST PLEATED SKIRT, A228339. The colors for the top are……..IVORY……..BLACK………TARRAGON………the colors for the skirt are …..BLACK……TARRAGON. I love a very feminine blouse under all kinds of jackets and sweaters…..from denim jackets………to biker jackets,….leather and suede jackets….. to tradition and not so traditional blazers and tuxedos…….cardigans, crew necks [both long and short sleeves], to the tradition V-neck to the new ballet neck tunic. Don’t forget to try one of your WHISPER KNIT TANKS over the blouse as a vest look. I LOVE the look of THE PLEATED SKIRT with the TIE BLOUSE and the TWEED JACKET worn over it……it’s very “JEAN BRODIE” or something you would see one of the women wearing in one of those wonderful “English” TV series or films. The IVORY BLOUSE under the BLACK LEATHER JACKET with the PLEATED SKIRT is SUPER CHIC!!…..and the BLACK BLOUSE with the BLACK WHISPER KNIT PANT is TDF!!!
A228338….THE BLOUSE……..has many special details,….the most obvious is the three REMOVABLE STREAMERS. There are three flats narrow bands of fabric that are attached to each other at the center. They pass through a FABRIC LOOP that is attached to the stand part of the collar at the center back…..so they are totally REMOVABLE. IF you got the ivory and black blouses you could even put the black ties on the ivory blouse. The front has a FLY FRONT CLOSURE, meaning all of the buttons are HIDDEN, keeping the front perfectly CLEAN. This way, the buttons will not interfere in any way with your JEWELRY! The blouse has a THREE BUTTON CUFF which adds just a little something……..a little VICTORIAN or GIBSON GIRL……..maybe? There is a front and back YOKE from which there is a little shirring………so your front “click here’ measurement might seem a little large to you…..however……this is not a darted FITTED BLOUSE. It is supposed to have a little drape and if you choose to “tuck”, you will have a beautiful soft, some what 40’s look. There is also a little bit of shirring in the sleeve cap just to add to that feminine retro look. As you can see from the close up shot of the Ivory blouse at the bottom center, this is a beautifully tailored and superbly made blouse. I like the ties tied in a double knot and left to hang….or worn with out the ties and either left open for a more casual look or buttoned up with a wonderful broach……which I have coming in three color ways. Nov. is the planned due date, but knowing QVC, Dec. is more likely. I will point them out during the show. By the way…..I picked up the OLIVE BERETS in Paris on my recent trip……………..made in CHINA!
The SUNBURST PLEATED SKIRT, A228339, is a pull-on skirt….no zippers. The skirt from the bottom of the full elastic waist band measures approx. 29 inches long……perfect for boots or opaque tights and heels……I prefer a thicker heel. You have a little leeway with the length because of the elastic band waist….meaning you can wear it a little higher on the waist or lower…..more waist down. Again, this skirt has a very retro look and as far as pleated skirts go…..very slimming. Think of a sunburst pleated skirt as a FAN…..there is less at the top of the skirt and then it ” fans” or “sunbursts” out at the bottom……..which is not to be confused with an accordion pleated skirt, where the pleats are the same top to bottom. Sunburst pleated skirts can range from full circles, to half circles and less…..this one is less. The FABRIC of the SKIRT and BLOUSE is exactly the same…… 95% poly and 5% span….. I have used a light weight fabric so I could use it for both pieces. The skirt is surprising light and feels like nothing when worn. Wearing them together makes a FABULOUS SKIRT WAIST DRESS…..something Goldie Horn would have worn in “Swing Shift”?….. As separate pieces they will add something very new and fresh to your wardrobes. I would bet you don’t own anything quite like them……………………………..and they are washable!!!! Holey Moley!!…..but you know how I feel about washing pleated skirts……for me…..straight to the dry cleaners……really…. how often do you need to dry clean a pleated skirt? The blouse….no problem….throw it in the washing machine, but follow the instructions!
I hope you are having fun building a wonderful new FALL LINEA COLLECTION! ………………..Enjoy, much Love………………….Louis
Hi Louis,
The big event is near. My list is ready. I must have this shirt in all colors. About fifty cotton shirts are neated folded (clean, not ironed) in the back of my closet. But THIS ONE can be washed wrinkle free. Bless you!
I LOVE the skirt. It reminds me of fortuny pleats! Was that your inspiration? I have to get it in both colors I’m afraid, to wear with my new LEATHER and KNIT jackets from LINEA! And of course, I’m getting the tweeds. A girl can’t have too many jackets! CIAO
You are right, we don’t “need” more clothes. But indeed, it DOES make us feel better and your designs just keep getting better. I ordered the lovely ivory blouse and the mushroom tweed-which is just stunning! I cannot believe Q put them on line. At least I will be able to watch the shows Monday, Vacation time off from work with nowhere to go.:) So the Linea Ladies, you and Jac will be it for the afternoon. So many beautiful things, Louis and I am going to try the petite WK pants. Cya then.
I am at work now, wearing the Pale Olive herringbone suit, the Pale Olive crewneck (A3825), and the 2 knot necklaces in gold. It is nearly impossible to dress for humid fall weather at work, but this outfit is gorgeous, and comfortable.
I have the herringbone suits in both colors, and finally buckled and bought 2 Kate shirts. Plus the turtleneck in Mushroom, etc. As with every time I place a big order, I think I’m done. ‘What could he possibly make now that I need?’
This best expresses how I felt when I saw the blouse with ties above:

Have mercy!
Dear Mary…..it really isn’t about need……at this point we “need” very little. It’s really about desire….what makes us feel good about ourselves and if dressing well and looking good is it for you then I say why not. It’s like eating a wonderful meal. We “need” very basic food….but it’s so nice when we have something really special to eat.
I hope you know I meant to make you laugh. But I know what you mean. I had a rotten day at work, and I said, only half-jokingly, “…but look at how gorgeous this outfit is!” All the women laughed, because they knew exactly what I meant. I am constantly amazed at the number of creative ideas you have. It is so much fun, and it makes me feel so good. I wouldn’t be here if it didn’t.
Mary–that youtube clip is priceless–yep, he just keeps pulling us back in!
Great duo, Louis.
The pleated skirt you did last month had a wide waistband so it wouldn’t add extra bulk to the hip area. Should I worry about extra volume in this area with the sunburst skirt as the waistband on it is rather thin?
Thank you.
No..don’t worry..you will probably wear something over the top of the skirt, which is not bulky anyway
Love the jet necklaces shown with the black blouse. Expected date for those?
Already ordered the blouse in tarragon (and the tweed jacket in tarragon) — glad they were posted early!
Jane
There are two necklaces…..one is solid black jet which is vintage and not be4ing sold……maybe in the future. The other necklace is the same length as my pearl necklaces, and is made up with all faceted beads of jet, gunmetal, half crystal and half gunmetal an d silver beads all randomly placed…..intentionally.
I “feel for you” that you must state that your bead placement is intentional. (I’m thinking of the one Byzantine necklace that thrilled me with your intentionally positioned bead placement that took color into consideration and did not have the same effect on another customer.) You are an artist, and we either enjoy your vision or not. I realize that all of us do not like everything you produce all the time, and that is the way of the world. I don’t believe, however, that we should question your design judgment.
Dear Maria…..I couldn’t have said it better myself. After all everything is just a matter of opinion anyway. To be successful, you have to attract enough people with the same opinion. I never expect everyone to like my designs and quite frankly I wouldn’t ever want that. I think of my customers as a sophisticated group of women, who for the most part, have the same taste as I do. The others will find happiness somewhere else…and that’s a good thing…..that’s what keeps things interesting.
Louis,
Speaking for myself, we are flattered to be in your company. 🙂
Ditto!!!
Amen!!!
All ensembles are spectacular, but that supernova of a brooch is the real star, as far as I’m concerned.
