“October Sneak Peek #2, #3, & #4″ are my HOUNDS TOOTH CHECK pieces. You have the ZIP FRONT JACKET, A229469, the SIDE ZIP PENCIL SKIRT, A229470 and the scarf A229471. The fabric for each piece is a blend of 60% Polyester, 21% Acrylic, 10 % Wool, 7% Cotton……..and 2% of the mystery….”Other”. The size and design of the HTC was made to my specifications, so you will not find another quite like this one in this blend of yarns. The three pieces will be avail in two color combinations…..BLACK /IVORY….and…..BLACK/VIOLET…..for now we are going to concentrate on the Blk/Ivory color.
A229469, is the HOUNDS TOOTH CHECK JACKET. The style of this jacket was taken from the A210358, purple suede zip jacket….with some modifications. This jacket has a center front zipper as opposed to an asymmetrical closure. The jacket is approx 26 inches long for the XS. The sleeves are left unadorned to make it a simple alteration for those who need to do so. There are BAND POCKETS!!!! as you can see from the above photos. The thing that remains the same are the SIDE BUCKLES. You can make it as CINCHED as you like for a very HOUR GLASS SHAPE…..or less depending on your comfort zone. Under the straps there is an ELASTIC set into the jacket to maintain a shape so it will never look boxy! The collar is a classic SPREAD SHIRT COLLAR……just the right size to frame the face when the collar is flipped up. The hardware…..zipper and buckles….is GOLD on the Black/Ivory combo and GUNMETAL on the BLACK/VIOLET combination. The jacket is fully lined in a beautiful satin. The HTC is a classic, but in this size …..it has a ton of PANACHE. This is something you will enjoy for years and years. PERSONALLY…..I LOVE it as a matching SUIT with the MATCHING SCARF…..the whole enchilada!!!!!! It’s a SPECTACULAR way to LOOK….. at the right time in the right place you’ll knock their socks off…..a true RUNWAY LOOK…… but only for the most confident among you! The jacket is the perfect proportion for pants, long and short skirts, both slim and flared. Match it… mix it…wear it dressy with velvet and sequins and/or lace,[they are coming]……..or super casual with a T-neck, scoop neck, ….even a Hanes T-shirt [ do they still make Hanes T-shirts?]…..and JEANS tucked into boots. Layer a black sleeveless mock neck [coming] under my ALL IMPORTANT WHITE KATE SHIRT…..black jeans….a very HOT LOOK…..of course Jac will wear the whole thing with her black and white KEDs…..surprisingly…. HOT TOO! Need I say how my A83962, BLACK CASHMERE blend turtle neck looks and FEELS under this jacket……….the RED Turtle neck, A72448, is a MUST HAVE!!!!! (It is the most beautiful RED …..EVER!!!]. Pick a bottom….any bottom: my knit pencil skirt, last years black long riding skirt, the A218566, crushed velvet long skirt, the sunburst pleated skirt, the A227575, black pleated skirt with the yoke….ALL of my pants, from the new Whisper Knit to my new drawstring to any that you own from me or anyone else. I can go on and on but you probably have more things hanging in your closet than I could guess. ALSO…..for the BRAVE and DARING ….and I know there are a few of you….don’t be afraid to wear prints with the Hounds Tooth……..print skirts blouses etc….they DO have to be the RIGHT ones….be BRAVE and wear a smile….dark sunglasses will HELP TOO! LOL ……..I am sure I am forgetting something….but I’m sure you will have enough questions to over load my “Ask Louis ” again. Oh yea….that’s what happened!! The tech had to re-set it again….LOL We have 5000 more questions to go before it blows up again!
A229470, is the HOUNDS TOOTH CHECK PENCIL SKIRT…….I know many of you have asked me to make a new one because the old one is worn out!….so here it is. It is approx. 24 inches long for the XS and it is fully lined in the same satin as the jacket. It has a side zip and button. There is a very narrow band at the top, approx 1/2 inch, to finish it off. What ever size you have purchased before in my WOVEN pencil skirts you should do the same for this skirt. As part of the suit is it wonderful, but it’s a great separate skirt too. Wear it with one of the myriad of sweaters that I have offered you and there are a whole new group coming. With just a sweater and the textured coat in Black or Rose Quartz…..you have a finished POLISHED outfit. I know you will discover a number of ways to wear this skirt….and with all different kinds of shoes…… from ballet flats to shoe booties, heels of all heights and of course many types of boots. Tights and textured hose can add a whole different look………………..it’s time to play.
A229471, the HOUNDS TOOTH CHECK SCARF. The scarf measures 17 inches in width and 72 inches in length, which includes the 1 1/2 inches of self fringe at both ends. What’s great about a HTC scarf is….it’s will go with so many things………the Black/Violet scarf, I discovered, looks great with the “magenta” shabby chic cardigan that is finally coming in OCT! PLEASE Play and discover new ways to wear it. Over one shoulder is the classic way, tied around the neck…for sure…….for when it really gets cold…..there is enough length to wrap your head….and then some……..For a very special and dramatic look wear it as I have illustrated in the photo above….tied in the back……you’ll either have to find someone to tie it for you….or….tie it in the front first and carefully swirl it around….it makes for a pretty spectacular entrance.
There is plenty of jewelry that will look splendid with these HTC pieces. If you were lucky enough to get the gold ball beads [above] or the black bead necklace with the gold spacer beads….get them ready. The gold cuff with the black cabochon stones is STILL available and is just the RIGHT PIECE when wearing the HTC skirt with a simple sweater. All of the gold chains and the chain hoop earrings…..to cool for words with the HTC!….I have been told that the new pieces will soon be posted! Let’s see how long we can all hold our breaths….LOL……This next group of clothing….the Hounds Tooth Check included….. is very different from the September group. The September Group was my ….”TOWN & COUNTRY GROUP”…..This October group is my………………..”CITY CHIC GROUP”…………..I hope you agree, and I hope you enjoy……………much Love……..Louis
Louis,
This Fall collection is just stunning. For years when you were at the helm of Anne Klein, I bought your designs in stores from Saks to Harvey Nichols in London and these are the same designs I was paying 7 and 8 times the price we pay at QVC. Your designs as always are impeccable. Your houndstooth jacket and scarf are soooo gorgeous.
Thank you!
Dear Ladies: I finally found a true beret like Louis shows on his Sneak Peeks – Nordstrom for $24 is the ONLY store and I went everywhere on the Internet, even Bloomies doesn’t have it. They have it in all colors. Found it at the King of Prussia Mall, you can order through the mail.
Louis, I have a question. I have a pair of small black & ivory herringbone pants that I have worn with your black pearl jacket and I works. I can’t tell if the jacket would work with this skirt. I think the herringbone might be too large. Any help would be appreciated. I love all the pieces of this herringbone as well as the bacl and purple. Thank you so much.
Sorry, but it really is impossible to tell if it will work without seeing it in person.
Louis, I just received wait list items from your September show. Wow! The A228371 Tweed Blazer in tarragon is so much more than I expected…. and I expected a lot. So glad you kept the style simple as the incredibly amazing fabric and color is really the star of that blazer. Love it! It’s perfect for my lifestyle.
For the new October HTC jacket, I’m really loving the style of the front center zipper and side buckle bands. To me, that’s the star of this HTC jacket. So glad the elastic at the waist is covered with the fabric bands as I’m not a fan of all these jackets of late with sometimes as many as three rows of elastic bunching up the fabric across the back and sides on blazers. That’s not for me. I prefer your more sleek, fitted silhouettes.
I read through all the comments for find that your QVC date is October 19! It’s on my calendar so I won’t be late to the party this time. So much fun to get a few sneak previews in the meantime! Thanks.
Louis, looking at that red T neck sweater, I was pretty happy to see it wasn’t a banded bottom which is what has kept me away from the WK T necks, although I own all the V necks. I thought perhaps there had been a reorder of the silk/cash T neck in red, which I would love, so now I’m confused. Am I missing something?
I’m not sure what you mean by a banded bottom? The WK t-N has a fine rib start on the sleeve and hem, while the Silk cashmere blend has a tubular start which is a linked on band. Of course the SK no longer comes in red. The sample in the picture is the cashmere blend with the linked on band border….the reds for both T-N’s are the same.
OK, so what’s pictured is the silk/cash blend which QVC is no longer offering in red, but which I’d buy in a nanosecond if they did. I meant ribbed when I wrote banded; sorry for the lack of clarity, & thanks much for your response.
Thank you so much for the easy to alter sleeve on this fabulous jacket! And I’m thrilled the HTC skirts are the same style as the textured pencil skirt. I have those skirts (and jackets) in both colors and love the design, fabric and fit. Needless to say, both colors of HTC will be coming south for sure!
I will wear the ivory/black with that beautiful 3/4 sleeve WK sweater in red (A221796). That sweater is a personal favorite and works year-round for me. I have all three colors and would love more next year. Is that a possibility?
Dear Grits….that is a great sweater and will be perfect with the HTC, I was really surprised when that wasn’t reordered….I don’t know why it had high returns?
I’m with Grits — I, too, love that sweater and have it in all three colors. Once before you had written that the sweater would not be reordered, as I recall, and I was floored then. Thought perhaps things might change. Guess that means no more A-line skirts as well. I thought the Linea Ladies liked classic looks. Go and figure…
If you are referring to the red, ivory and navy skirt….no that one isn’t ‘t being reordered either.
Yes, Louis, I meant those skirts. I was looking forward to a new batch of colors next spring.
You want to know what I’m really freaking out over, though? The sunburst pleat skirt (A228339). I’ve been stalking that skirt in a large, in black, for over two weeks. The guy in the neighboring cubicle at work is probably thinking all I do is look at QVC fashions all day long. Not the case. I’m just checking every five minutes for that one item. How do you tell a guy you’re stalking a skirt? So I just go about my business and let him think what he will. 🙂
I hope you are on wait list, because women on wait list get them first.
I missed the waitlist, too. My prayer was that someone would return one in a black, large. (Foolish, I know. This skirt is wildly popular in black.) Fortunately, I have it in the tarragon in my size, but my use for that will be more limited. The black one has such a “French” look to it. You know, paired with a lovely white blouse, it will have such a “Leslie Caron in Paris” look about it. Must be a memory of a classic look I’ve seen through the years. Bravo to you for giving it to us!
In desperation, I decided to get it in the XL. Hope it works out; it might, however, add to my hip line and the tarragon alone will have to satisfy my yen for this look. (Who knew I had till you designed this skirt?)
I am in love with these pieces and keep going in here to just stare at them! So exciting! and beautiful Louis. I just love the way you show your designs. You make it so easy to assemble a look as you lay it all out before us and have such amazing ideas! I am in love!
Carmille…..it really is easy to come up with interesting ways to combine clothes…..you just have to have an open mind…..and most of all you CAN NOT BE AFRAID to experiment!!! Of course it does help to have enough pieces to experiment with too.
Louis: Are you offering that beautiful gold beaded necklace on the show? Is the red turtleneck the one we have or is it your “new” red? Thanks so much.
Dear Toni…..alas the gold bead necklace in Vintage Linea. It was one of my first offerings as part of my “new’ Linea jewelry. It sold out, but was not reordered. I find that, with jewelry, it is rarely reordered. Once it is sold out, we move on to the next. So if you really like something….I suggest you don’t hesitate, because it probably will not be reordered again…..case in point the wine and green pearls. They sold out in a flash….practically zero returns, but only the gray were reordered…..”mine is not to reason why”. The “RED” turtleneck is the Whisper Knit turtle. I don’t know what sizes are still avail, but I do know it has been reordered. It is the PERFECT RED.
Dear Louis: I have that RED, yahoo, I am late to join the race but I do have all of your WK t-necks and mocks. Believe it or not, I was lucky to get a 2X drawstring in Heather Grey (returned by someone) and I am so happy -I just LOVE dove greys, steel greys, and heathers. I do have the love knot in gold tone and it is beautiful and the weight is perfect. Your clothes are so NEW YORK and I miss that out here in NM, but you bring it to me in dreams. It’s really getting cool here now and I just love your creations, that’s what they are, creations. It is the perfect RED. Thanks for replying.
Toni….if you are into greys you really should get the love knots in the Gunmetal too….I don’t want to be an enabler, but they do look great together!……and fabulous with the violet HTC. Being a Leo I’m really a GOLD person, but lately I really am loving the gunmetal and silver…..and they look great worn together too.
Dear Louis: I’m a Scorpio and yes, I will order the gunmetal – it’ll look great with most of my WK t-necks and mocks – thanks for the great advice. I love the blacks, walnut, greys, and fearless reds, magentas, and brilliant colors. I am sooooooooooooo poor at envisioning things, my brother is the gifted one. Thanks so much, I LOVE that idea.
This is a beautiful, flattering design!! I must have it…..:) I think I will upsize so I can easily wear sweaters under it and really cinch in the waist to give my chubby self an hourglass shape! Awesome design and thank you.
Dear Sharon….before you order up a size you really should check the garment measurements. There really is only so much you can cinch it in and you don’t want it to be too big. I don’t foresee anyone wanting to wear a bulky sweater under this….so be careful not to get it too big. Only you know how you want something to fit, but I like this jacket on the smaller side, so it looks shaped, but you know your comfort zone.
Thank you so much. 🙂
So stylish, Louis, and va va va voom! I’m sure that I, like many of your fans, wish we could wear with grace almost everything you present. The fact remains that your work is so satisfying. I look at some things — or study the way you put together some pieces — and just sigh, “Ahhh.” You are a brilliant artist at your craft. I don’t know if in all my jottings I have ever thanked you for your work. If not, here is a huge THANK YOU. Seeing your creations is so exciting. I only wish I could buy everything I wanted and wear them so that they reveal their beauty. So glad I “bumped into” you on QVC. My wardrobe would still be following my tired old formula.
Wow! Love the black/white HTC! I have a question – should we get the HTC jacket A229469 in the same size as A210358? (usually I order XXS, but I sized up to XS in A210358).
Thank you. Inna
Inna, I’m not sure how to answer you. They are really two different jackets and I’m not sure if there are any allowances for suede jackets as opposed to a woven jacket. I would think you should stay with the size you always take. Do you have any particular problems area that concerns you? If you are very slight than the xxs should be fine. If you plan on putting anything heavier than a T-neck than the xs will probably work better. Be sure to read the click hear measurements….especially the hips, because this is a zip jacket and you can’t unbutton the bottom button….if you know what I mean. ALL that said you don’t want a jacket in this type of bold pattern to be too big.
Thank you so much for your reply. I think I’ll stay with my reg. XXS size (I have very small hips – just received the black drawstring pants in XXS and they are perfect for me). Thanks. Inna
I think that’s the right decision too.
None in particular…..I just don’t want anyone to compare these click here measurements with a knit which has a lot more stretch.
Thank you– so we should look at measurements like the chain link or the hydrangea skirts to determine fit?
Yes, and you should compare those to the textured pencil skirt that came in the black and spruce green since they are basically the same style.
Just lovely!! Which woven pencil skirt are you referring to? I need the item number to see the click here measurements. Thanks. Chris
