………………….I thought on this Halloween you might enjoy a TREAT…..instead of a trick!…….This photo of Jac and I was taken for a May 1992 article and photo spread in HG magazine. There are 3 or 4 pages of our home in CT, and this picture was taken in my Anne Klein studio as part of the spread. Anna Wintour had come from England and had taken over the magazine “House and Garden”. There was quite an uproar because of the changes she made including the logo of the name! I believe this 1992 May edition was either the second or third one she put out. From there it was a short jump to taking over Vogue. The new editor and chief, who then took her place, changed the logo back to the original “House and Garden” as it remains to this day…..I guess the HG magazines that Anna did are true collector’s items since so few were published.. I remember Jac and I having a good time in the studio working with the fabulous photographer Oberto Gili. Oberto still does work for H & G. He specialized in architecture, home and interior photographs…….The suit Jac is wearing was white with black and red bands. It became Saks 5th Ave’s Spring Vogue ad…………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………
Jac was too beautiful for words……the perfect model……………..My inspiration then……………………..and my inspiration now.
Louis! You and Jac look amazing, but wanted to comment that I had that suit!!!! It was wool crepe, yes? It was one of my biggest splurges (purchased at John Wanamaker in Philadelphia) as I believe it was couture and I normally purchased Anne Klein II items. Anyway, lovely to see those photos!
P.S. Jac looked way better in the suit than I did. I’m only 5′ 2″, so the skirt came to just above the knee on me. Still, it was a stunning look!
Best, Kathe
Yes Kathe, it was wool crepe. I think it looks just as relevant today as it did then. Right above the knee was probably perfect.
How absolutely beautiful!
Hi Louis!
I’m sure when you and Jac were out and about all eyes were on the both of you. I really enjoy your photos and the stories behind them. Thanks for sharing.
Dawn
You were the most fortunate of men. But then, you know that.
I just love when you share such great photos and stories with us. 😊
Dear Louis, Thank you so for sharing your beautiful Jac again with us. We love her … and you 🙂

Dear Louis,
Thank you for always sharing bits of your incredible life with Jac.I enjoy the stories & the photos!! Jac was an incredible woman. Not just for her beauty but for her intelligence & her heart. The two of you were lucky to have found eachother.
Wow. The first thing that jumps out in the photo are those legs. Jac is beautiful. I very much enjoy when you share vintage photos. Each time I see photos of the two of you and read your stories, it makes me smile. The two of you packed in a lot of fun and excitement during your time together.
Wow, Louis what a great photo! Jac is divine, as always. The suit is spectacular–evocative of both Chanel and Courreges. Could you make us a suit similar to that—White with Black and Red trim—swoon worthy for sure!
Sheila
My first thought when seeing this picture of Jac was “Wow, how beautiful she is in this photograph!” My second thought was how loving you are to share this photograph with all of us. This definitely was a treat to walk down memory lane with you and Jac! Thanks for another very special post.
I too enjoy sharing these photos, now that Jac’s gone even more so. When I happen upon them it brings back great memories. Things and people I haven’t thought of in a long while. Along with the memories there is a flood of emotions, but it brings Jac back to me, even if it’s just a moment.
Thanks, what a wonderful treat. I love the pics and the story. Wow, those legs. Being only 5’ 2”, and having always wanted long legs, my husband and I have a joke… whenever we see a woman with beautiful, long legs we always say SHE got my legs. I would definitely love legs like Jac’s. Now I know who really got my legs. She was a beauty from head to toe, inside and out.
Dear Louis, thanks for another peek of you and Jac in earlier days. Love hearing the stories and seeing photos of you both. You’ve been such an inspiring couple for so many of us. You two shared a beautiful life together.
Thanks for the lovely picture of you two! It sounds like Jac came from a family of strong, beautiful women.
Yes Karan, she did….her older sister is also very accomplished. She speaks five languages fluently. She worked for Este Lauder for years until she married. She traveled all over the world training Este Lauder store manages on all the new products coming through. Now she happily lives in Marblehead Mass. with her horses dog and husband.
Thanks for the treat on a gloomy day. Such great stories and memories.
Yes, those LEGS! Exactly what I thought.
What a gorgeous girl.
Those legs!
Every time, without fail, when Jac got a compliment about her beautiful legs she would say, “these are my Mommies legs”….I can here her now……Her Mom did have beautiful legs and was a model in her youth in Europe just as the war was starting. Her mother took her from Belgium and brought her to the USA. She knew it wasn’t a safe place with all of those Nazi soldiers always making comments. Jac’s grand mother was a cancer surgeon at Mount Sinai Hospital in NYC. Quite something in those days.
My goodness, Louis. Impressive ancestry!
I didn’t mention that her grandfather was also a cancer surgeon at Mount Sinai also!
I love Jac’s Architectural outfit and geometric haircut!
Jeez, it doesn’t seem that long ago, was ‘92 your first year at AK?
Cela….93′ was my last year at AK…..I started there in 1973!
Now see, this is what happens when I start asking questions.
Exactly why I stick to brief statements about fashion! Lol.
Just Lovely!
Thanks for sharing! Definitely a treat!!
Yes Louis,
an absolute treat to see you and your beautiful Jac….and without the calories!
Getting ready for the Parade In the West Village this evening, some scary sights…and they’re not all in costume.
Enjoy this beautiful weather.
See you soon, Elaine
Elaine….thanks for the laugh!
And I thank you Louis, every day.
Both sets of earrings are on their way and I just ordered those gorgeous necklaces!
Louis, thank you for the beautiful treat! The pictures of you and Jac are stunning. Your love for her jumps off the page as well as in your beautiful creations. From one Italian to another Molto Bene!
I love the “snapshots of the past” postings you do Your narrative and the photos give me some insight into a world that I wouldn’t otherwise have. And I admire how you continually honor your love and memories of Jac and the life you two shared.
