“October Sneak Peek #10”, is A229475, the……. HERRINGBONE BRUSHED BOUCLE JACKET………..As the season has progressed from my July transition group with the light weight herringbone faux linen jackets to the August Mushroom and Black plaids….onto the Sept. tweed jackets……I felt a strong need for a jacket in FABULOUS SOLID COLORS…. The hard part was finding just the right fabric…..after sampling a few different fabrics, and lab dipping them to see which held the color best, I decided on this beautiful 75%polyester, 25% wool blend. It has a herringbone weave which you can just about make out in the photo of the teal swatch. The fabric starts out as a herringbone weave with a fine loop boucle yarn……which is then clipped and slightly brushed to give the fabric a wonderful hand………it almost has the feel of a boiled wool, though it is not. Needles to say, due to the wool content, the COLORS are DEEP, RICH, and SATURATED……………Your choice, which will be a very difficult one, is……..VIOLET……………..TEAL………………TOPAZ…………..ALL BEAUTIFUL!! Of course it is fully lined in a lovely satin. It has three patch pockets which melt away into the jacket and each pocket has a dyed to match working button. It is a three button front jacket, and it has long sleeves. THE SHAPE and LENGTH…….the jacket is approx. 25 inches long for the XS , which is the same length as the tweed blazer, A228371. The shapes, thought not exactly the same, are similar enough that whatever size you were comfortable wearing in the tweed…. would hold true for this new jacket. THE WEIGHT……..If you found the mushroom, or black plaid jacket, or the tweed jackets on the heavy side……you will find this one on the heavy side TOO…………I do not find them so, and this is why…… when you are dealing with fall fabrics with texture, whether they are wool blends or not, there is always going to be added weight to the fabric…..this is what gives them their CHARACTER….or else you are left with a flat or nondescript lighter weight fabric……Beware of boucle fabrics that are light as air. To achieve that they are probably loosely woven acrylic fabrics………not that acrylic is bad [Chanel jackets that are thousands of dollars have acrylic in them], but they probably are not the best quality yarn and the loose weave can cause pulls and piling….they will not last the test of time……it also makes the fabric less expensive…..less yarn used. You will not find any of that with these jackets……Yes, for the Southern Ladies, due to the climate, granted this will probably be more of an outerwear jacket……but I consider this a winter blazer. This is the time to pick up a solid color jacket, as I am not doing anything else like this for the remainder of the fall season……….For those of you who live a more casual life style….this is the perfect blazer to wear with jeans, a WK sweater or the Kate or Robyn shirts…..it will also look fun with a hoodie worn under it for those real CHILLY DAYS……it’s a great HIT OF COLOR. I am sure you have a ton of things that will look perfect with these colors. As you can see from the photos above, there will be more pieces coming on the Oct show that you can mix and match with these jackets. Also the new group of WK ESSENTIALS, due in Nov-Dec, will also be in colors that work back to these jackets. The jewelry choices are getting more and more numerous, and if you have been collecting the Linea jewelry from the beginning, you already have many options. The new jewelry pieces, the beads, Baroque cross and station necklaces look great. The brand new demi, “WEAR ANYTIME” small hoop IS the perfect wear anytime earring with these jackets, and of course ALL OF THE BYZANTINE pieces, the crosses and LOVE KNOTS were made for these jackets, whether you wear them all layered….or simply just the cross…..you will be making a strong statement….The new CHANDELIER EARRING J270116, is the other perfect option for a more BOHO dramatic look…..A word of advise…..do not look at the QVC photo of this earring or you will turn into STONE!……Trust me….if you like CHANDELIER earrings you will love this one….it goes with everything……..There will be even more choices in the months to come!!!!!………………..I guarantee you will TURN HEADS! …………………………….. I truly think your only problem when selecting this jacket is going to be……………………………which color don’t I get?????!!!!!
………………………………………………………………………..I hope you love these jackets as much as I do…………………Enjoy……….much Love,…………..Louis
Louis,
Love these fall colors! I think I can officially call myself a “collector” of your turtlenecks as I believe I have all the colors. I just ordered the turtleneck in the teal and fushia and am wondering about the topaz. I’m a little concerned the topaz won’t go with my coloring (but then I thought the same of the olive and now live in the many of your olive pieces I have acquired and I love the caramel and mushroom from this summer.) Any help you can give to describe the color would be greatly appreciated. How does it compare with the sweet potato ponte jacket? I was wondering about wearing it with that. Is it sort of a pumpkin color? I await your word.
Julia/Qulia
Dear Julia, I no longer have the sample in the sweet potato, but I do have a small swatch, and the colors are VERY close. I would say the sweet potato is slightly more gold and the topaz is slightly more orange/red, but very slightly….so you should have absolutely no problem wearing this very saturated rick color.
The photo of the back view of the Topaz jacket really captures how nice this jacket is. I’m having a very hard time deciding what color(s) to buy – I love them all. Thank you.
Louis, this jacket is mine in all three colors!!! Now, question, I just received the feather blouse yesterday in the mushroom – I just love it so much – will this go with the topaz jacket? Love love it all!
Dear Carmille….I KNOW you will be very happy you got all three colors…they are that good! I tried the feather print blouse under the topaz jacket….just to be sure, and as I thought….they look fantastic together. I would recommend a dark brown bottom like the Walnut WK pant if you got it or any DARK brown bottom you may already have……just to pick up the browns in the blouse…..a dk. brown beret perhaps?
Thanks so much Louis! I am extatic that the topaz jacket and mushroom blouse will match! I just love the blouse and am hoping you will bring it back in another print and a possible solid white or ivory in the future. It is so beautiful. I am so looking forward to the show on the 19th. What a collection! These jackets are just beautiful!
Gorgeous Colors! Love the cut – adore the 3-pocket styling! Are the bottom pockets side entrance? Perfect for my Alaskan lifestyle, be it business or pleasure. I purchased the Mushroom Plaid, both Tweeds & find the Topaz and Teal absolutely IRRESTIBLE ! Merci Beaucoup Monsieur Dell’Olio. Your Fall/Winter Collection is SPECTACULAR! ! !
Correction: IRRESISTIBLE !
Thank you….the pockets are traditional top opening.
Dear Louis: That amber colored bead necklace, rich and deep amber, looks like root beer barrels, is that vintage or will you be offering that beautiful thing?
Vintage….but you never know?
Will it help if we keep our fingers crossed? Love that necklace!
Yes, love that necklace!!
Carol
Me too- Love!
Love the COLORS! How to choose? I cannot imagine ..but I know I’ll love whichever (or however many!) I end up buying. Thanks for such beautiful choices.. as hard as they may be to actually make!
Dear Louis,
Is that a violet surplice top underneath the jacket? Does that mean there will be teal and topaz ones as well?
Also, will the teal jacket match well with the teal WK waist-whittling sweater?
Just teal and violet and black….I would put the black surplus with the topaz.
Th teal WK W-W-S is not quite a match…it is actually a little off in color and darker.
Bonjour Louis!
Love these jackets! One question: is the teal color similar to deep turquoise? I’m trying to distinguish it from the mallard of last year.
Also want to tell you how much I’m loving your wonderful fall 2012 collection — herringbone faux linen suits, mushroom pieces, tweed jackets, WK pants, pleated skirts, feather blouse, jewelry — all fabulous! Thank you for bringing such lovely items to us! You’re the BEST!
The teal is much deeper and bluer than the mallard blue which was definitely brighter.
I love this style of blazer and fabric, love the front seaming, pockets, lapels. Just as well that I have until October 19th to make up my mind on color(s), but with the preview, I’ll be ready before they sell out…. quickly.
Thank you, Louis.
