“THE SAPPHIRE BLUE OF GREECE”

……………….If you haven’t visited the Greek Isles…..you must put it on your bucket list. The islands are all very different from one another, and all are enchanting. Jac and I have visited  many of them on our own and with loving friends. Each time is an inspiration……especially the color of Greece…………SAPPHIRE BLUE!

Thank you for this post! You are making me long even more for the end of this month when my husband and I finally realize that dream! We depart for a 2-week trip to the Greek isles and I can’t wait! I will be wearing many items from your Sapphire collection – and now I will truly understand your inspiration for them. I have been captivated by pictures of Santorini, but I know these are only going to pale in comparison to the real thing. Thanks for heightening our excitement!!! Any other tips from you and others are welcome.

Irma….2 weeks!! Are you cruising or staying on different islands? Santorini is going to leave you speechless it is so beautiful. My only suggestion is bring comfy sandals. It’s all up and down walking. We had a fabulous time. Santorini, in particular can get very chilly at night. It’s high up, and if it gets windy, which it can, you will need a sweater or a cozy shawl to wrap yourself in….Other than that….eat, drink and enjoy! In Mykonos, Jac and I would have a small breakfast at the hotel, then walk into town and sit at a cafe at the waterfront were the boats were docked and the famous pelican used to wait for food [he’s probably gone by now]. We would have a leisurely second breakfast, read the papers and just chill and take it all in, before heading for the beach. It was much less crowded then so it was fun just to walk the streets, pop into shops, and take pictures….Just relax and breath deep….best advice I can give.

Cruising for a week, inland for a week. First part is a tour of Thessalonicki, Phillippi, Kavala, Kalambaka, Meteora and Delhi as well as Athens and Corinth. Then a cruise to Mykonos, Kusadasi, Heraklion and glorious Santorini!

I am trying to walk a bunch… and am a bit worried about my knees wearing out before I get to Santorini! I am very excited. I will look for your pelican in Mykonos!!

        Thanks for the advice!

Sounds fabulous…We flew on our trips, but if I remember correctly the people on the ships that came into Santorini took donkeys up to the city….maybe they have taxis now! LOL Definitely good walking shoes. I think it’s a good idea to start taking walks each day to build up. Athens is a big city. Of course there is the Parthenon [a lot of walking and it’s uphill to get there, no buses near the buildings because of fumes], and some wonderful museums, but I loved the Placqua [I’m sure I spelled it wrong, pronounce PLA-KA] which is the big market where they sell everything from antiques to sandals to tee shirts. Real Greek salad…yum!

Irma….one more word of advise…….You must have an OUZO for me!!!!! Either straight or over ice…..maybe two or more since you will be in Greece for so long!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Of course. It makes perfect sense that your sapphire collection is inspired by Greece. But when I first saw the collection presented, what immediately came to my mind was Morocco. The Majorelle Blue of YSL’s riad in Marrakech has thrilled me from the first second I saw it. I wanted that electric blue in everything around me! I want, or have bought, every item you’ve shown in that color. And please let me congratulate you on the beauty and artistry of the Maasai jewelry. Like everything you do, stunning! I could dress in nothing but Linea for the rest of my life and always feel that I am perfectly and appropriately turned out. I am thrilled and grateful to have found a line that so perfectly suits the image I wish to project. Strong, feminine, glamorous, tasteful, and pure quality. You are brilliant, Mister D!

Dear Cinnamon Mason. Thank you so much for this message. For me this is why I do what I do. …I have seen the Majorelle, and it is an inspiration like all of Morocco.

Ah, yes, Louis, the stunning beauty of the deep, deep blues found in Greece and especially in the Greek isles. I’m delighted that you and Jac were able to enjoy Greece. That blue!
On buildings and in the sea. The water was always the most beautiful in the world to me, going from light turquoise to that deep sapphire blue. In fact, I visited the fabled isle of Capri after having been in Greece several times, and I wish the order had been reversed so that I could have been in awe of the green waters around Capri. After Greece, it was a let-down, to be honest. The only waters that I ever saw that rivaled the beauty of those I viewed in Greece were in the Caribbean, but I am not a fan of that area of the world. Apologies to you and your memories because I know how fond you are of that area. Me, three times there and three times very ill upon return, despite taking every precaution. Two times in the Bahamas at top-notch hotels and one time in Jamaica at a new resort that just opened up. After that trip, I was in bed for a week with an unexplained illness. Never again for me! I adore your Sapphire!
