Louis, what a wonderful video! It was fun taking a tour of your gorgeous home and seeing all the beautiful Christmas decorations. So many special memories for you. Love the trees you and Jac made, the angels you made with her mom, the pine cones from your father, your beautiful tree loaded with special ornaments…
I’m so glad we got to see your precious girls too! I loved hearing them sing Happy Birthday!! How adorable!
Thank you for sharing all of this with us!
Thank you so much for sharing your home and memories. I adore you and this blog!

Dear Louis,
I feel like I was just warmly welcomed to a pre-party! Thanks for the invitation. God bless you and your naughty “girls!”

Louis, Michael Vollbracht passed away. Came as a surprise, he was so popular in the 1970’s, vibrant designs……..I often wondered what happened to him.

That is very sad news…..Michael and I were at Parsons School at the same time. He was a year ahead of me. We weren’t close friends, but we knew each other and at fashion events always said hello. Jac also did his fashion shows. Jac was probably closer to him than I was. His illustrations were brilliant…..He was a mater at textiles and prints…..He was truly one of a kind.
What fun seeing and hearing about all the little things that have been collected and gifted over the years. Most of my decor has a story or memory too. My home is my “nest” and I see yours is as well. Lunch cooking in the oven – could almost smell the love and warmth. The dogs made me laugh out loud. Way a joy. From my 1905 Wisconsin farmhouse to yours, Merry Christmas and joyful wishes for an exciting, healthy 2020!
Louis, your home is beautiful. It is filled with warmth, love, fabulous memories of a life well lived and shared. It would be hard for me to leave it as well. Your view of the sound is spectacular, an ever developing panorama that alters with the light and the mood of the water constantly changing. I love how every piece has a story and a beautiful memory that brings you joy each time you tell it’s story.
I am mad for the Green Velvet fabric covered walls and would be delighted to be enveloped within. Each room draws you in and invites you to sit and stay awhile. I love how your silver and brass reflects the light especially from the fire and gleams, twinkles and glistens. It brings a wink and a smile. Your home is filled with joy and love and caring and comfort and the life that you and Jac built with each other. A joy to behold.
I lost my husband this past July, he was 87, it was quick for him, not for me. He’s been in my life for 53 years and married for 47 years. My first holiday without him but I am so ever grateful for what we shared and the life we made that I find comfort that I had him for so long. I, like you, talk to him constantly and find joy in remembering and celebrate how he changed my life and my world.
So I thank you, dear Louis, for the lovely visit with you and the joy that you shared with all of us. Merry Christmas, Louis to you and those adorable girls……….oxoxoxoxoxo Cat
Dear Louis…thank you for your hospitality. I enjoyed meeting your adorable dogs and seeing your lovely home and very interesting collections. Wishing you a warm and wonderful holiday season. Joyeux Noël!
All I can say is WOW, AWESOME, So nice to see you Louis! Happy Holidays .Thanks for sharing your beautiful home with us.
Louis, I thought your trees were either ficus or even possibly lemon. I also have two large ficus trees that I have been nurturing for 20-25 years. I have them in large pots and on dollies so that I can roll them out onto my deck in the summer and then back inside by the south windows for the winter. This year they got so big outside that I gave them a good hair cut in late Sept. before bringing them back inside. I love my trees! Yours look very healthy.
Dear Louis,
I’ve been feeling a bit forlorn this holiday season. What a wonderful gift you’ve given us, with this joyful video invitation into your beautiful home; a true testament to love forever. Thank you ever so much for warming my heart.
Love and Hugs,
Cathy in PA
P.S. The DOGS, oh the delightful dogs!!!
How beautiful, Louis! Thanks for sharing your treasures with us.
Thank you for opening your wonderful holiday home to us! Such inspiration — I’m actually going to polish my silver tray and other pieces to set them out during the holidays now (and I dislike polishing but you’ve given me the motivation!)
Hi Louis, Thank you for being so generous to share your lovely home with us. What a wonderful tour and such beautiful decorations and memories. Your singing dogs were a real treat. I know about “naughty” dogs — just came home to a naughty dog present! May I ask what type of trees you have in the large pots?
Dear Jane….they are indoor Ficus trees. They were here when we moved in over 25 years ago and they are still going strong
Louis, Thank you for posting this video – your home is beautiful. Your ‘collections’ are lovely – you remember where everything came from. Loved seeing Jennifer in the Tuxedo Jacket with the Appliqué & Embroidered Shirt (I own both) – so I had to get the Necklace during Free Shipping Day.
Seka.
Wow, that was such a treat. Those barnacle and shell oil jars killed me. And the singing dogs? Thank you for sharing your home.
