“THE BLACK STATUS PRINT TOP”

…………………………The STATUS PRINT TUNIC, A378731, is my newest print top. This classic pattern is usually called a “status print”. These types of patterns have been printed on very expensive silk twill for scarves. Hermes first made them popular, and  anyone familiar with Hermes scarves knows they are extremely expensive and are considered a “status” thing to own and wear. Versace made them very popular also, and took them from the conservative status realm into the high fashion world…..They have just made a big statement on the most recent Versace runway……..My print is a wonderful combination of solid areas, Baroque swirls, Medallions, Zebra and Baby Leopard patterns…..The ENGINEERED layout of these elements contours and carves the body to create a slimming effect……”smoke and mirrors”. The colors are simple, black, white and shades of gold…The blackened areas at the side and the curved patterns help to create a “waist shape”. The V design at the top frames, and brings attention to the face. The fabric is my polyester/span that I have used for years. It has the hand of a silk jersey and GLIDES over the body without any cling. The top does have a slight shape. It has a flattering JEWEL neckline, LONG sleeves, and a STRAIGHT bottom….The size XXS is aprox. 29 inches long. As you all know who own this fabric….it is easy care and practically wash and wear. For trips it packs into nothing and comes out of the suitcase with nary a wrinkle………This is a top that can be enjoyed ALL YEAR LONG………I love the idea of accessorizing this subtle ANIMAL print with the new ELEPHANT PENDANT with the IVORY TABLETS, and the separate IVORY TABLET NECKLACE and the coordinating IVORY EARRING……This tunic is very CHIC, and looks 10 times more than the actual cost……That’s always a good thing!………………I hope you enjoy it……………….much Love……………………..Louis

You had me at “long sleeves”! Black for sure.

Kate…..and don’t think I didn’t hear your voice…..or what I imagine your voice to sound like in my ears……LONG sleeves please!

Oh my! Like Goldie, I must have all three! The print is just scrumptious. But unlike Goldie, I do have all three of those Medallion scoop neck prints from 10 years ago–and the matching skirts and jackets in the Pink/Purple and the Blue/Green. I can still remember the shows and the models dressed to kill. That print was so very Via Condotti and this new one is the same. Something to really look forward to. Thank you, Louis, and stay safe. Sheila

Dear Shelia, I am so happy you have those medallion prints in ALL of the colors!!! They are just as “in” today as they were 10 years ago? Even more so!! Is it really 10 years???? Yes very Via Condotti.

  3. This looks like a must to go with my linen-colored ponte crop pants. My favorite way to dress for work come the heat of summer – your poly blend knit prints over the ponte crops. Cool enough for high temperatures yet warm enough once in office air-conditioning – AND still look professional. Thank you for these options!

This design is a wow, wow, wow. The overall look packs a punch and when you look close at every little shape, swirl, and color combo, it is a remarkable work of art and design. Black and tourquoise for me. I am very much into prints this year. I bought three of Jac’s floral blouses and receive compliments every time I wear them. As of late, I only go to essential places with mask and gloves but I am styling when I leave the house. The joy is in wearing – not on a hanger in my closet waiting to wear someplace special – which is not going to happen in the near future. Your new and prior year collections bring much needed color to my day. I must also tell you that the button down and pull over long pebble crepe shark bite tunic tops are my “go to” solids and I very much wish I could buy new ones.
P.S. I hope you bring new colors and designs in the exact fabric and silhouette of Jac’s blouse.

    Thanks Louis,
I love my cathedral, ombré , and leopard ombré tops.
Is this the big deal or are we getting another spectacular item?
    Sarah

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

No Sarah….this isn’t the Big Deal……I’ll reveal it closer to the chow date

  6. Melissa W

I was waiting for this sneak peek. I love them all!! Definitely need the black. Probably the turquoise. Maybe the pink, if I can swing it.

Your engineered print tops are easy go-tos for me. Beautiful!

    hi Louis
    Beautiful!
I was wondering if you could give me an example of a current or recent past top in this fabric for reference.
Are they going to be lettered or number sized, and do they have side slits?
    Thanks so much.
I was going to limit my blouse buying but then I saw these in your elephant photos and said oh no, he has got me again.
I love the black and the turquoise.
    thanks
    Sarah
ps I received my venus necklace yesterday- it is perfect for more casual ensembles

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

Sarah….literally all of the poly jersey tops are in this fabric….the Ombre tunic, the Ombre Leopard, the Cathedral are just a few recent tops in this fabric. They are xxs through 3x and no there aren’t any side slits. The top is easy enough that none were necessary and the fabric stretches for days. So glad you like the Venus shell necklace. It is a special piece and I will be surprised if you don’t receive compliments!

  8. CGee

The Master at work! I’m holding my Umber Camo Print skirt up to these pictures–what do you think? I am a print mixer.

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

Dear CGee….I see where you are going, and I put them together, and they are oddly appealing. I wouldn’t say you couldn’t if you believe in everything goes with everything, but you would have to wear this combo when you are feeling very secure.I would actually play it up even more. This outfit is no time to be timid. I would jazz it up even more with layers of necklaces. Just don’t be surprised if you get odd looks!

I meant to write this: “…when I stand before a status PRINT.” Did not sleep well and am working on my second cup of coffee. But this gives me the opportunity to say that I am in agreement with Carol (message above). I typically do not select the Black choice either. This one does not come across as Black for some reason. Must be all that gold.

  10. Goldie76

Yes, I will not let one get by me this time. I just am putty when I stand before a status knit. The look appeals to whatever is in my DNA.

  11. Carol

I rarely pick the black choice, but in this one, it’s my very favorite. I ordered the elephant necklace in ivory, so this is a complete must have! Do you think this will work with tobacco or espresso pants?

The poly jersey tops are my go-to’s. Keep ’em coming!

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

Dear Carol the tobacco pants definitely work, the espresso are just OK…..I much prefer black over the espresso, but definitely yse to the Tobacco. I looked at my old tobacco cotton crop pants.

  12. Goldie76

These, darling, are for me! Why even ask if I am getting all three? Of course! I adore YOUR status prints, Louis. How well I remember the first one I bought from you about a decade ago. The top had a scoop neck and beautiful medallions. I was able to buy the turquoise and the olive — never able to get my hands on the purple one. (As I remember it, I was just getting used to the way your sales went at that time. If you did not snap up what you wanted immediately, you never got it except with the good fortune of a rare return. It took me two times of losing out to know how to play the Linea purchase game.)

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

Goldie….I thrilled you lie all three! I knew you like the black one, but all three…WOW….They are fabulous tops that can be worn anytime of year anywhere so they will be well worth the price.
