The February Sneak Peek #6 is A232346, the PLEATED SKIRT. The fabric is a Faux de Chine, actually it is the same fabric as the A231146, digital print tunic with the flounce from last month. It is light as a feather and moves beautifully……..very FEMININE and very GRACEFUL. It is approx 27 1/2 inches long, and has a 6 inch yoke at the top, from which the pleats hang. I like this construction because it keeps the tummy area nice and flat. The skirt is lined. It is a pull-on skirt with a full elastic. The elastic has a top stitch running through the center so it will not flip. The colors are…………………..BLACK………………IVORY……………….BAMBOO………………..In the photos above I have them paired with different things. The new tank and bolero shrug to come……two of the new WK sweaters in AQUA and TANGERINE, and the ivory TSV jacket from last month. Of course, they are perfection with the new blazers. If there are packing creases in the skirt the best way to get them out is to hang the skirt and steam it…..holding the pleats straight at the bottom. Or simply bring it to the dry cleaners and have them press it…..It only needs to be done once and if you are a pleated skirt lover…..it is well worth it. The black beads are Linea, as is the new wave necklace and earrings. Two of the three necklaces on the black tank will be coming later in the season, but not in the bone color…..they will be in olive and amber………….There is nothing quite like a pleated skirt…..they are truly UNIQUE……………………enjoy, much Love…………………Louis

Louis,
I’m in for the Bamboo in this skirt for sure; maybe Ivory too. As for Black, how does this differ from the earlier skirt sold along with the Feather Print group, item #A227575? Length and silouette seem about the same, and I did get that in black?
Thanks, Cathy in PA
They are about the same…they are straight pleats. Are you thinking the black feather print replaces the solid black skirt or the solid black crepe? The feather print was in a georgette and this is more like a silk crepe de Chine……except it’s polyester.
Sorry I wasn’t clear. No, I was talking about the solid Black Pleated Skirt that was sold around the same time as the Feather Print group. It had a yoke similar to this one. There was a later black pleated skirt without a yoke, but the Solid Black Pleated Skirt I got was the one with a yoke, so I was interested in the difference in the fabrics between that one and this new one.
Thanks, Cathy in PA
The new one is much lighter….I don’t think you would wear your crepe pleated skirt in the summer…..this one you would. It feels just like a silk crepe de chine…..there is no texture to this fabric at all. It is the same fabric as the natural/black and Limoges Blue/Black tunic with the flounce bottoms.Since they are both basically the same style, and are fit on the same fitting model, I would think the variation in size is minor, just due to the difference in fabric and the way they feel on the body……more so than anything else.
Louis, think that new bamboo color would coordinate well with the stone herringbone jacket A226257 ? I’ve tried to line up both the stone and the pale olive jackets with your pictures on the computer screen – ok so don’t laugh!!!! I do this all the time! But in “real life”, would that be a “go”?
It’s also looking good next to the chocolate tortoise shell pattern 2-way zip jacket. By the way, my raspberry version of that jacket arrived today 🙂 And of course it is gorgeous!
Oops, forgot to mention – playing like you always advise but trying to do it through cyber space which is hard – does that bamboo shade look darn close to the natural in the new printed top with flounce detail? Or wouldn’t you try those two together? They ARE in the same material, right?
They are the same material, but I would never put those two pieces together….the top need a slim bottom.
The bamboo does not work with the the herringbone, but the digital print in the natural looks great with the natural herringbone pant. The pale olive herringbone look fine with the bamboo pleated skirt. I would not put the flounce shirt, digital print, with the pleated skirt….just too much fabric.Glad you like the Raspberry…..I think it’s a beauty and probably the least bought color, so you will be very special in that one. Have you ever seen anyone wearing Linea?…..it’s pretty exclusive.
You know Louis, that is a great question. I honestly do not think I have seen anyone wearing Linea – other than those who asked me where an item I was wearing came from (it’s always Linea) and then were proactive enough to get that item for themselves. Definitely explains why I feel so confident when I wear my Linea. You realize of course that makes YOU, and by extention and inclusion – Jacque – pretty exclusive and I hope it helps you understand how much your genius, fashion eye and all-round love for life means to all of us. And I speak for myself emphatically. Slowly my husband has come to realize that there is another man in our lives 🙂 But he has told me how much HE benefits from that. (He’s such a sweetheart!) He gave me a wry knowing sort of smile when I was going on about your recent traffic accident and hurts sustained from the airbags with great concern as though you were indeed a family member. He knows he is number one in my life by miles so he “accepts” this situation 😉
Thanks for your astute judgement on what the bamboo skirt will “go” with and what it won’t. And – because it’s a slightly thorny issue being an unusual style – what the flounce top will and won’t go with. I LIKE that option of the natural herringbone pant!
Nancy…..rule of thumb…..another one of those old English phrases….must of had something to do with measurement. Volume over narrow, big over small…….narrow over volume…….small over big….it usually works out. So if you are wearing the flounce tunic, which has volume….it is best to stay with a narrow bottom…..With skinny or narrow tops such as the bodysuits….you can wear a fuller skirt such as the dance or boho skirts. There are always exceptions to the rule….like the chili pepper pebble crepe top. which has volume, works with the boho…..but that is because the top is relatively short.
So this sets up a couple of burning questions since my favorites of your skirts – of which I have many – are longer or, if you call the boho “volume” – then voluminous.
So the TSV jacket falls into which category? Does that one work as narrow over big – as in working for pairing up with the floral print tiered maxi skirts from last season?
And would you describe the tortoise shell jackets as “narrow” that can be worn over big as in bohos for example?
And the new blazers coming this week in Black and Ivory – another narrow that can be worn over big? Slow learning in progress here…
Pants usually fall into the “narrow” category, right, unless they are palazzo?
It also has to do with the length of the tops…..the TSV jacket is shorter and has shape so it is fine over the boho…..where as a loger boyfriend jacket….unless you are tall is better over slim bottoms. It also depends if you where them open or closed The new blazer worn open over the boho will work , again if you are tall….it also depend on how you carry clothes and your at5titude. Some women can get away with a lot just because of the attitude they have…..it’s not a science………just a guide.
Thanks for the education 🙂 It’s why I come here!
Louis, I love your new spring colors.
Do you have an item number for the Aqua and Tangerine WK sweaters and when will they be avaialble for purchase?
ALL THAT INFO WILL COME WHEN THE SWEATERS ARE DELIVERED.
Thank you, Louis, for this romantic offering. I see you paired the ivory pleated skirt with last year’s ivory blazer with the gold buttons. Am I correct in seeing that this ivory skirt is lighter than the new ivory jacket, due to the different materials?
I love the fit of last fall’s mushroom pleated skirt and this looks very similar. Thank you for this spring/summer option! I would even wear the bamboo during an Indian summer.
Dear Deborah…….the jacket is actually the TSV in ivory. The skirt is a little lighter in color and when we tried to go darker and match the new crepe jacket……the mill just kept making it look dirty….so we decided to go with the lighter, fresher color. The bamboo is a great color and very versatile.
Thank you for your fast reply and explaining the process How interesting! The lighter color is very Mia Farrow as “Daisy!” 😉
I love your spring/summer palette in the Whisper Knits. Tangerine is one of my summer faves (lime being the other). I can’t tell for sure from the photo…is this tangerine the same as the double breasted trench jacket from last year. I have that one. LOVE! Also, your QVC blog called the aqua “turquoise”. Is it more your traditional aqua and will work with or earlier aqua pieces – or is it more turq? On my monitor the top two photos of the mock neck look turquoise, but the bottom one looks like LDO aqua.
Viewing your sneak peaks of the first spring items, I want to thank you for giving working women some comfortable spring & summer options for career wear. So many designers focus on “fun” wear for warm weather – forgetting that many of us will still be in business meetings throughout the summer, LOL.
Lastly, I’m loving the TSV ponte knit jackets (ordered 3) and the tortoise knit jackets (2). Such cozy work options! Would you please consider the doing the tortoise zip knit jacket in solids next year? I would buy every color in that! That would be such a great essential.
Deborah
Dear Deborah………I tried to match the actual aqua color to the screen [don’t remember what we are calling it], and it really isn’t either, but it’s more like the bottom color only a little deeper…..it’s almost a blend of both….how’s that for confusing….but this is for sure….it’s a gorgeous color. The orange of your jacket is actually brighter than the tangerine, which is not quite as intense. As for the 2 way zip jacket….I’m trying to get it in as prt of the new fall PONTE ON LINE PROGRAM. It will be in the same fabric as the TSV jacket.
Lovely skirts; it looks like they will flow beautifully when walking. QVC sure missed the boat in not ordering the bone necklaces! I can’t imagine what they were thinking! That color would go with everything.
I’m totally with you on that Designista! I too would have JUMPED for the bone necklace! What were they thinking????
It’s not that they did not order them….the ones in the picture are the actual original pieces and the factory could not duplicate the variations in color…..what they came up with was not pretty.
Sad! I’m consoling myself with the prospect of the olive and the amber sets.
Good Morning Louis,
Can’t wait for these new items to be presented. Don’t need them but must have them. Just wanted to know if the pleats are permanently pressed into the skirt fabric. I realize I might have to steam the skirt upon arrival but wanted to be prepared as to its upkeep. Thanks for all your hard work. Absolutely love what you are doing!
Lois
Dear lois…..they are supposed to be permanent….that’s why they are 100 percent polyester, which is the only fabric that, with a heat process, will permanently pleat. As I said, straight out of those lovely yellow bags, they may need some attention, but after that they should be fine. The instructions say machine wash cold, but honestly, how many times will you need to wash a skirt like this. Personally, I would dry clean it and have them worry about the pleats, but it does say machine wash, so it has to be OK to do it.
Hi Louis,
I too wonder how this new Bamboo color differs from the Pale Sand of my Pebble Crepe Skirt? I’ve been looking for something just a bit dressier to pair with one of my Lace Cardigans for my dear nephew’s wedding in mid-June. Usually I wear my natural linen pants with the jackets, but prefer a skirt for a wedding. I already have the Mint Green Lace Cardigan and the Terra Cotta one, and the new Black on waitlist order. The wedding will be casual, with a theme of Honeybees and Chickens, and lots of flowers, as my nephew has a beekeeping and produce farming business …
Thanks for your advice! Cathy in PA P.S. If this seems familiar, it’s because I asked about what to wear to the wedding earlier, but if you responded, it got caught up in the TSV excitement, and archived LOL.
The skirt look really good, color wise with all of the lace jackets and great with the new black one. However the only thing is…..these jackets are short and might not cover the yoke of the skirt completely….so there are two things you can do….1-roll the waist band once to shorten it…..2- wear a longer tank to cover it.
THANKS! As I am so short, it’s quite possible I’d have to shorten this skirt at the waist anyway, that will work perfect! Should make a perfect wedding outfit with one of the Lace Jackets, tank, and a pair of pale cream/gold slightly shimmery sandals I have … it’s going to be a fun wedding; we’re just hoping the groom doesn’t invite his favorite cows too LOL.
Is there by chance any new coordinates coming for the Lace Jackets?
Thanks again, Cathy in PA
There is a pant in May that might work, but I do not have the samples yet so I can’t be sure.
Thanks Louis; I’ll keep an eye out in May 🙂 Meanwhile, as I like a skirt for a wedding, cows chickens and bees notwithstanding, it will be this lovely Bamboo pleated skirt for me, with a Lace Cardigan LOL.
Cathy in PA
And how is the Bamboo with Pale Sand?
Thanks, Louis!
The bamboo is paler and when you put them together the sand looks grayer. you could get away with them together if you break it up and separate them with sy a black tank.
Wonderful! Is this the same yoke fit as the Feather Print Pull On Skirt from late summer A227580? Many of us had to size up in that one. I see it is an inch shorter or so than that skirt. Thanks!
I really can’t answer that. I would not think there is much difference. Compare the click here measurements when they come up.
Louis, Just beautiful. Are the skirts lined?
Yes the skirts are lined. I should have said that in the description.
Lovely! Very romantic. Is the skirt lined?
Yes……
