………………This time of year it seems another flower or group of flowers reaches its’ peak…..their most beautiful…..before they start to fade……………This week it’s the climbing roses along the long drive to my home. Hydrangeas are gorgeous. I love them too. We lost over 400 roses a few years ago. My DH has dementia. He thought e was spraying Miracle Gro, was confused and sprayed Roundup. Oh, we were getting too old to grow so many anyway and they are a huge investment of time and money. Now I am down to about 65 that are less worry, most old garden roses and hardy shrub roses. Roses are difficult in the humid south due to blackspot. I don’t spray for fungi. I do have the Carefree Delight. Yours is also Carefee Delight. I do have both Carefree Beauty and Carefree Delight. I have only a baker’s dozen hydrangeas (and that includes 3 Oakleaf Snowflake). I plan to have more come Autumn and have taken out several crape myrtles in order to do just that. Have to make room for more. I have 5 hydrangeas in pots in addition to those in the ground. We are keeping only about 5 of the big acoma crape myrtles, 2 Japanese Magnolias, a Bay magnolia (southern magnolia) couple oak trees, some pine trees, and a beautiful river birch.

Probably into a jelly. And there are recipes online.

Those Drift roses look lovely. ‘Carefree Beauty’ is a rose used as a control rose in many rose studies done by various universities. It has beautiful rose hips once the fall arrives.

Is there anything the rose hips can be used for? Is it used in a jelly or jam?

    Louis,
Thanks for sharing the beauty of your home. The roses are spectacular. I am reminded of a quote I read recently. “Be patient with yourself, nothing in nature blooms all year.”

Just received the gold anniversary bracelet and it is perfect in every way. I have large hands so I tried the large first but the average was the right size. I will treasure it, just as I treasure the many years you and Jac have been part of my life.

Stunning!!!! Thanks for sharing your beautiful view with us.
I’m thinking the big garden is about to burst with color. I’m looking forward to seeing it.
My oleanders and Crepe Myrtle Trees are blooming now.
A gloomy high humidity day here in the south and I think some saharan dust.
Staying inside or masking in my yard.
Thanks again for sharing your bounty with us

Enjoyed your roses. I try many times to post to you to acknowledge your works and the beautiful life with your wife, but the captcha code rarely works. I have that rose, Carefree Delight. I have 3 and they consume a lot of territory. But lovely and I cannot get rid of it. Each one is bigger than an old Buick. I have enjoyed you, your wife, your clothing and jewelry line for a long time and pray that God continues to bless you in every way.
