Walter and I took to adopting dogs that were at least one year old, at least best guess by the shelter. I worked very long hours, he was still working, neither of us could deal with a puppy either. All of our rescues were mostly or entirely housebroken, out of puppy chew stage, and SO happy to have a quiet new home; that plan worked out well for all of us. New dog just had to settle in, teach us all it’s rules and we were good to go ;). Thanks for all the lovely pictures; this past week and today were really difficult; your pictures brought me smiles and joy.

Although I read what you titled the picture, I kept reading it as “FOUNTAIN OF LOVE”

Frueda….I actually didn’t name the picture. That was the given name above the picture….but I like yours much better!

Thank goodness Walter has more sense than me, or I’d have a housefull of those LOL! My friends have one; way over 100 pounds of pure love and gentleness. Watching him be chased and bullied around by a 1 year old is delightful! Ten years ago, after we lost our beloved 85lb Newfie mix rescue, when we found our dear Reffi (that’s MISS Reffi LOL; she is a princess), she reminded me of a mini Bernese. Thank goodness she only weighs 45 – 50 lbs. as we couldn’t lift our Shadow when he got sick. Reffi is likely Australian Shepherd or a mix, but looks just like a mini-Bernese and she OWNS us. Thanks, Louis!!!

…….Cathy if it were up to Jac we would of had a kennel. She wanted a 4th and had the name already picked out…..Priscilla…..Prissy for short…..so we would have had an Annie, Lily, Sammy and Prissy…..I have often thought of getting a Priscilla, but that time has come and gone. I just can’t deal with a puppy. It’s too hard and the girls are now 9 so bringing a puppy into the house would upset the order of things. I don’t think they would like it.

    Hello Louis,

Your post reminds me of the dog we had growing up. “Lady” was half Dalmatian, half Cockerspaniel.
Our apartment was on the ground floor, years later when my Mom had to take her to the Vet we realized she never learned how to climb steps!
She had to be carried up the flight of steps to the Vets office, and she was no lightweight!
She was great company especially for my Grandmother during the day when we were all out of the apartment.

    Take care, Elaine

Oh those faces. We have a lookalike here. Tipperary came home after our Newfie died and our Gt. Pyrenees stopped eating.such intelligent dogs. The president of Ireland has one that appears with him most of the time.o
