“Reminiscing”

………………….I though it would be fun to reminisce and start to post collages from the past. I don’t have every year starting in 2000, because I wasn’t doing sneak peaks back then. This is the earliest one I have. It was a little cardigan with lace embroidery that was to look like lace appliques. I did it in 3 colors….black…..mint and pink…….Maybe some of you still have it. I must say it looks as fresh today as it did way back when…….I have many many collages so I hope to keep you entertained for a long while!!!!! Do you remember this????……………………………………………….

enjoy…………..much Love…………………..Louis

I purchased this sweater in the pink with black appliqués. I wear it with your Linea slim ankle pants. Your clothing is all wonderful! But, without hesitation, your embroidered baseball jacket in black is a big show stopper. Strangers have offered to buy it off my back.

    Hi Louis,

“Dear Renee….HSN is owned by the same company that owns QVC so that won’t happen…..LOL”

Did you know Halston on QVC was sent packing, too, months ago? QVC is still selling some of his pieces online, but nothing new for a long time. Recently, I saw HSN carrying this line.

HSN in Florida, though. A long way from your house.

Oh, how WONDERFUL! Of course I still have my lace applique sweaters … and some of that “linen herringbone” I loved so much. The first Linea I remember buying was that stunning 100% Linen Jacket, in off white linen, with the folded black ribbon trim, with both the black and off white pants. I still wear the pants, and the jacket hangs in my closet waiting for travel again. That set went to Alaska, Europe and more. Next piece I think was an unusual light cocoa colored jacket, with a wider rounded collar, almost a peter pan but not quite. The skirt sold out before I could get it. Still have that too 🙂 THANK YOU for doing this, Louis!

Thank you Louis for reminiscing. I am so distraught that your elegant clothing line will no longer be available on QVC. My closet is filled with your beautifully designed and tailored clothing. I’ve recently purchased many of your newer designs on QVC and fear I am becoming a hoarder of the Linea line because I know no other clothing line on QVC can replace yours in design or quality. I hope you will find another vendor smart enough to carry your beautiful designs.

  5. Nancy (AKA TheOwl)

Thank you Louis!!! I always try to keep the style number of every Linea piece so I can either hunt for it here or plug it in at QVC to see you and Jac and the old model team wearing them and you explaining about the item. Except that I MISS Jac and the models – your videos at home are so much better. I love how you began showing us about 8 or 9 different ways to combine this year’s wonderful new jackets/blazers and WK pieces! This is a real TREAT. Keep em coming when you have time but space em out. I really like to SAVOR 🙂

  6. Donna from California

Grand idea Louis! What fun to look back. I had this in cardigan in blush and black and loved it. Unfortunately, you continued to design beautiful items, and I continued to buy. I ran out of room and began purging my closet every couple of years so I no longer have my earlier items.

  7. Renee

Do I remember I have this sweater in white and black
All my Linea clothes look perfect they get treated like gold!!!!! This year has been such a bad year 😭 and now you leaving the Q has just taken this rotten year and put a cherry on top!!!!!! I wish you would go to HSN the host’s all look and dress so pretty not in Pajamas, cabin socks and knit hats!! It’s just a thought

Dear Renee….HSN is owned by the same company that owns QVC so that won’t happen…..LOL

I still have this in three colors, plus the lace dresses. I saved them in case I ever took off all my stress weight, and ta-daaa – mission accomplished! They fit just great again! I am so thankful I squirreled all my S/M’s away!!! I love this idea of revisiting your beautiful designs. Thank you, Louis!

  9. Nancy

I had this sweater in navy as well as the black. My weight has fluctuated wildly over the years. This past spring, while in deep discouragement for the first time I parted with a chunk of my smaller Linea wardrobe. I am really kicking myself now. I am not even sure if I still have these sweaters, And I never would have thought to combine it with the lace dress!! So gorgeous! Had that too. I guess I will just have to just bask on the beauty of these creations, remembering how I was in awe of the detail and quality of the fabrics. And how beautiful they made me feel wearing them. A beautiful stroll down Memory Lane, guided by my Dear artistic friend Louis.

Remember? Heck, I just went to my closet and admired the black and green versions hanging there. Because I live in a warm climate, I’ve particularly enjoyed your short sleeve cardis. The SS tie-dye cardigans are another favorite of mine. What a great idea for us all to reminisce together! It might also remind us about some of our older Linea pieces that we’ve been forgetting to wear. When a collection gets as big as some of our Linea stashes there’s always the risk of forgetting some of it. I’m looking forward to more of your pictures!

      Oops, that’s me, not Anonymous!

What a wonderful idea, Louis! As I always tell my friends, the good thing about Linea is that is never wears out and never goes out of style. The bad thing about Linea is that it never wears out and never goes out of style. LOL! Like others, my closets, armories, and drawers are all bulging with Linea. My girlish figure has changed over the years so my earliest Linea is too small for me, but I can’t bear to part with it. I have so many combinations of how to wear Linea that I couldn’t keep track of them all, so I started making 4X6 cards of the combinations. Then the file got too big to be manageable and no longer fit in the boxes! What’s a woman to do?!!! Why buy more, of course. As those days are sadly coming to an end, I have made a boatload of final purchases, which has its not inconsiderable amount of sadness associated with it.

      Barbara
I still own blouses and jackets from Louis’s Anne Klein Couture days. They all still look wonderful and still very stylish!

  12. Enjay

I own this in the black and natural – love it and still wear it! This is such a fun idea, Louis.

Today, I wore a gorgeous, long, camel suede skirt that you presented at one of QVC’s first New York fashion nights. Do you remember that one? I wore it with a WK black turtleneck. Still looks impeccable and fantastic.

  13. Carol

I see I posted as Anonymous before. Oops. Anyway, this sweater is also good with the lace sheath style (I don’t know what you call it when there’s an actual waist in it) dress you did. It was two versions: ecru over black and black over white. That is a forever dress. And we also wear that dress with the black lace “jacket” with the woven checked trim. I have that jacket in so many colors.

  14. Shay

Love this idea; thanks for posting and keeping us connected through beautiful clothes!

  15. Karen in WI

    Louis,

This is a wonderful idea, thank you! I missed many years of Linea, but now I will get to see what you did! So in my imagination, I think I will buy the navy/white and maybe the mint! Very cute, sweet sweater. I’m always in on lace! Lace and pearls. So ladylike.

  16. Nancy from CT

I bought navy with white flowers; black with taupe; mint with black; and white with black flowers. I still have these and they look like new. So pretty.

  17. Irene

Thank you Louis for the joy this will bring to your ladies!

  18. Kate

I have this in three colors (navy, ivory, black) and still love to wear it. It’s one of my favorite sleeve lengths–neither short nor 3/4…it’s just right. It looks really pretty belted so you see a bit of lace above and below.

  19. Anonymous

I was just looking at mine yesterday. I’ve been unpacking my winter things, and put some sweaters in a drawer where these live. They are year around for me. They look so sweet love a sleeveless dress or top. The navy is of course my favorite, but all the colors are gorgeous. I also have an ivory one not pictured.

  20. Jackie

Reminiscing is such a good idea. This will be so much fun going to your site to find a new surprise with every post! .

  21. Michelle S.

I have it in the black version. I love lace in any form:-) Like others have mentioned it has worn well over the years with no special care. I wore it last with the moss crepe black long skirt. I love how everything you design works with other things from past years. I know that is always your intention.

  22. Carolyn Muse

Dear Louis, Thank you for this wonderful idea of reminiscing! I have this sweater in Black/Natural and Navy/White. I love them and pulled them out in the Spring/Summer season and they still look so beautiful. I think I told you how my niece came over to visit and told me I have some beautiful vintage clothing I can sell. I could never part with your line of clothing. I always pray that my granddaughter will love and cherish your designs as I do. Thank you, thank you Louis for sharing with us and giving us an uplifted boost to our spirits. Love you! P.S. You designed an eyelet dress in white with black trim and natural with black trim that I wear with this sweater. Well, maybe not quite eyelet, but it has the eyelet look. Both are very beautiful and timeless.

  23. Marta

I love this cardigan too. I own the navy and wore it with navy Linea pants in the spring and summer and with your navy cropped ponte pants. I just pulled it out and put it on over your navy turtleneck and ivory ponte pants and it looks beautiful. Like to always say, play, play, play.

  24. Melanie

I am so excited about reminiscing. What a wonderful idea!! Thank you, Louis.

Should have put my name on that navy sweater post I am

Louis, I have that in navy and it’s a great little Spring sweater.

  27. designista

This will be FUN! Is this A221793? I have it in Black/Natural, Navy/White, Ivory/Black Aqua Mint/Black and Blush/Black.and yes I still wear these sweaters and they are in pristine condition.

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

Yes it is, and it still shows up on the Linea site if you type in the style number!!!

  28. Liz

I have this in 3 colors. Its looks the same as the day I received it.

  29. Cindy B.

    Dear Louis,
What a treat!! I have the white one and just love it!! I finally found you in 2010, and so wish I would have sooner! I’m so grateful for what I have from you and will always cherish each piece.
    Thank-you so much!!

  30. Linda in AZ

Hello Louis…How much fun is this! I started buying Linea in 2011, and still have every piece. I love the new format for the Archives, and have been making a list of what I bought in each year. I have 2011 to 2014, at this poimt. While I love to play play play, I still need to see the photos of how you styled everything, for inspiration. I did not get this particular sweater, but I know the pieces from my closet will show up on the collages in the future. Great idea….as always!

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

Dear Linda I started at QVC in 2000…..so you missed a lot of years!

      1. Linda in AZ

Louis…I know and it just kills me! All the incredible fabrics and styles. I did not discover QVC until 2007, and I was focused on the Barabra Bixby jewelry line. Incidentally, her Caravan pieces coordinate beautifully with this year’s wood block print tunics. I got the tunic in all 3 colors.

  31. April

I do still have this. I bought the black to go with those stone herringbone pants and jacket (which are also still in circulation in my closet). It has that vintage vibe that I have always loved straight back to my college days, and that is so popular today. My 30 yr. old DIL loves it, and because it is still in basically pristine condition, it’s probably time for me to pass it along to her as she will rock it far better than her 68 yr old MIL, lol.

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

Dear April….I remember that herringbone suit. It was a relaxed blazer and had a linen look, if we are talking about the same one. I tried to use that fabric again since everyone loved it, but the fabric price doubled!!!

      1. April

The very same, Louis, and looking as fresh and wonderful as it did then.

  32. Marie

How absolutely delightful! Thank you for this Louis! I’ve been so sad about the recent news, this is a nice lift! When I saw it, I immediately remembered I have it! How could I have forgotten? I ran upstairs to find it in a drawer full of cardigans, among some others I had also “outgrown” (unfortunately) but couldn’t part with. Fortunately, since I retired a few months ago, I have been slowly losing the extra weight and will continue to work on it. I was thrilled to find it! I have the pink one, just as gorgeous as ever, absolutely timeless. I had to try it on immediately. I can easily wear it now but it will continue to fit very well as I lose some more weight in the coming months. Would be fabulous for Easter or Mother’s Day! Now, after gorging on watching whatever videos of yours I can find, I already have a couple of new ideas of how I might wear it. I never get rid of your beautiful things. They never get “old” or outdated! I have several of your beautiful cardigans and a few nice ones from other sources as well. I haven’t seen any comparable new ones of that type for a quite awhile now. I’ve thought many times that gorgeous, high quality cardigans such as this, are things that will stand the test of time and should not be donated. They were popular in the 40’s, 50’s, 60’s and came back to popularity again a few years ago. They very well might be something my little granddaughter would want in future decades. There are not a lot of clothes I would consider passing on, but things like this and some of your other classics I definitely will hang onto. I’ve thought maybe in the future they will be a treasure for her too. Now I am going to QVC to see if I can find the black lace prairie skirt. That would probably look good with this, what do you think? I’d already been thinking about buying it anyway.

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

Dear Marie……SAVE YOUR THINGS….I was watching a show the other night about recycled fabrics and apparel and they stated the millenials [sp] by thrift shop clothes from second hand stores and ON LINE…..who knew it was such a huge business……It’s less expensive and they love the vintage look. The lace em. sweater looks very vintage and young people will put it together in a very funky bohemian way.

  33. Elaine

Lovely idea Louis. I always enjoy going thru your Archives for ideas.
    Stay warm, Elaine

  34. Cathy Morton

Yes, I still have this cardigan in black. It’s nice for springtime when the whether is still a little chilly as well as in the summer. Thanks for the photos.

  35. Melissa W

How pretty! I will enjoy seeing your older collages as I didn’t discover you until 2014 and missed out on so many things.

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

I think you will really enjoy them….what struck me after looking at some of the earliest ones is how everything can be worn today, and not only that but I still see them being repeated today!

      1. Melissa W

And that is why I love your line. 😊
While you often gave us fresh and updated looks, nothing was so trendy that it couldn’t be worn later.
I have a closet full of beautiful Linea items that I’ll be able to wear for many years.
