………………This weekend my nephews Chris, to the left, and Matty to the right, along with Matty’s lady Michelle paid me a visit. Just to put things in proportion, and you don’t think I’m such a shrimp!, Chris is 6’3″, and Matty is 6’6″ tall. We had a wonderful weekend together……lots of eating , drinking [no one had to drive], stories and laughs. We watched movies on NetFlix and made it to bed by 2am…….I had just made a Stollen and a big bowl of fresh fruit salad so we all had a delicious breakfast. Matty and Michelle left about 1pm and Chris stayed. We went shopping and decided that Chris would make me his special hamburgers on the outside grill. He used his special secret ingredients, and I must say it could possibly be the best hamburgers I’ve ever had!….He left about 8:30pm and still had a 1 1/2 hour drive to get home. Like the good boy that he is he called me to let me know he got home safe. Chris and I are still planing our trip to Africa this August if Covid doesn’t stop us again!!!. The boys are my oldest brother Mauro’s two boys. They have a sister Jeanine who is the middle child.. Matty looks like my brother. They both have green eyes, and Chris looks like his Mom’s father. He has bright blue eyes…….very sweet, good-hearted boys….When Chris was very young, 7 or 8, he had a big crush on Jac and she had one on him. He was just too beautiful for words with his long unruly blond hair [all gone now}, and those sparkly blue eyes. He also had a somewhat deep raspy voice that just sealed the deal….He was also super skinny [not his problem now]. She would always take him on “a date”, just the two of them. She would take him to Carvel, a local ice cream store, for a cone. He loved those special times with Jac. We reminisced about their dates……….They are always welcome to pay their Uncle Lou a visit.
Hi Louis!
This the kind of positive & happy post we need to see these days. So many people are feeling low.
I posted on FB a few days ago, that another grandson just earned his Eagle Award in Boy Scouts and you would think it was the happiest thing my friends had ever seen. So many congrats and thank yous for some good news. I was so surprised. I guess everyone is looking for something positive in our world these days.
Happy thoughts,
Patty
PS. Love your clothes! 🙂
Dear Patty….that’s exactly what we all new…..good news….goods stories to make us all feel better and lift the mood of the country. I hardly listen to the news anymore. What’s the point? It’s just one horror story after the other. I’ve had enough. Living by myself, especially during Covid has been hard enough. I love when my nephews come to visit. They love my stories, and I have to say I have learned so much about who they are. They are both in their 40s and have lived their lives…..so much I didn’t know! I really want to know who they are, not who I think they are…..We laugh and laugh. That’s what this country needs more of…..LAUGHTER! Congratulations to your grandson……this is a big achievement in his life…..one step at a time.
Louis, it looks as if you were making merry with those two special people. Thanks for the story!

Louis, Family is everything!! They get us through our darkest days. Family lifts us up to the light. So happy that you have such a close family!! Happy New Year!! I wish you many blessings.
You look and sound so Happy, Louis!
I’m always happy to see my family….it’s been a long time.
I’m so happy for you. What a lovely treat.
Oh Louis, what a wonderful visit to have and thank you for sharing it with us! The boys are very handsome and very tall! I do hope that you can go on your safari this summer. So wonderful to have nephews that obviously adore you, and to share life and be travel buddies with! Love and hugs to you!
I see the resemblance of all three of you in the mouth/smile. You are a handsome group! Enjoyed the happy gathering pics.
So glad you were able to spend time with family! Hope you are finally able to go to Africa with your nephew. Cherish the memories and make new ones!
Men are always so concerned about the inches!
Yes Seyma, lol! My sons were always measuring to see if they were taller than me and once they conquered their mom, it was on to dad! Our three older boys are taller than my husband and the youngest is starting to get close. I still hear things liked, “Hey mom, I’m now 6’3” and 190!”. I think boys still keep growing until 25?
Your visit looks wonderful. How nice that your nephews wish to spend time with you. I’m envious. I can’t wait to have friends and family in my home again. Fingers crossed that you are able to visit Africa in August.
What a wonderful way to start the New Year—a visit from your tall, handsome nephews who obviously love their uncle. Family time visiting, eating, telling stories and planning trips together is what happiness is all about. You look so happy!! Hope the Africa trip happens this summer!!

I had my nieces here for the holidays and it is such a treat- They made sure they allotted time for a special white tablecloth dinner. We made a reservation for inside knowing that if we did not feel comfortable we could eat outside. Thank goodness everyone was separated and we wore our masks when not eating or drinking. We were able to have our special time. Their mothers ask if they can come and my nieces always say no- it’s our special time. I’m glad your boys could visit and the burgers sound great.
Take care
Sarah
Not only was the sun shining outside, but one can see by your happy expressions that you were all had a sunny disposition. It is wonderful to reminisce and enjoy one another’s company. Your table is set beautifully…..but I’m sure everything you do is done with an artist’s flair. Happy Healthy New Year!!
It looks like a lovely time was had by all. It fills the soul to be surrounded by loved ones.
