……………………….THE July 03 group was short, but sweet……From left to right…..the Suede topper with tonal leather trims……..the Suede jacket with leather whip stitching….the reorder Leopard shirt……….the Boiled Wool jacket with knit rib sleeves and collar……….the coordinating mock neck elbow sleeve sweater……….July traditionally starts the fall winter season. That’s the month that most retail stores start showing the new fall items. QVC followed the retail program and also started showing fall clothing…….,sorry this is out of order!
Is July when the Trunk Shows were held and is that when women would place “their orders”? I’d like to order the Boiled wool jacket, and oh, are there leather slacks to match? 😀
Yes Cela, that was the official start of trunk shows, but they continued through out the season.
I bought that Boiled Wool Jacket in Grape last year — beautiful, and in perfect condition at 17 years old. Amazing quality. Thank you!
Louis, I love seeing all of these designs. But I shed a tear thinking about all of the amazing suede items that I missed before finding Linea. Lol! I would definitely have added these to my closet. And thanks for explaining the seasonal fashion schedule. I have to admit that it’s tough to get excited about wool sweaters in August when it’s 95 degrees in the shade.
Michelle, I should have also explained in the history of fashion this schedule started after WW11. It was a big event when the stores made their new Fall presentations. What the skirt length for the season was the big talk! It was really more for the upper class. These women would decide on their new Fall wardrobes and many things were special ordered……which took a while.
Louis, this is really interesting. Thank you for sharing this information. Wool in August now makes sense!
Louis, does the fall season start later now, or did QVC start presenting fall fashion later?
Andrea…..Fall used to start in July, but now it’s more of a transition group….meaning season less clothes in darker colors that can be worn after Labor Day. For many southern states where is doesn’t get cold these are their winter clothes plus a few add ons from the following months. There are many reasons why this has happened. As time went by woman wanted more seasonal clothes. The didn’t and still don’t want to but true fall/winter clothes until late Aug [which will be delivered in Sept], Sept. Oct Nov. Dec. Also climate change has definitely changed buying habits. The world is getting warmer. I certainly know that from living in CT on the water. I have noticed the rising of the water from where it used to be 10 years ago. Also women have to be more careful about spending money, and want things that are less trendy and more of a classic with a twist style. These clothes always look relevant and modern.
That is so interesting. I started to watch a documentary once on Netflix about the minimalist lifestyle. And the only thing I really remember is that a guy said that there used to be two clothing seasons per year and now there are like 40 or 50. Seems like there must be more waste now. Clothes are so inexpensive that it is almost cheaper to buy something new from a discount retailer than to buy it used at a thrift store. I am glad that fashion rules aren’t as rigid, but it makes me sad to see so much redundancy and potential waste.
