……………..The day started with a magnificent sunrise, but the storm clouds were already coming. Here, on the shore of CT., it didn’t start to snow until early evening, but when it did start it came down with a vengeance! The wind off the water was so strong that it blew the snow right off of my driveway never covering one half of the driveway [photo at upper left] leaving the black top exposed. Where ever the wind hit my roof, no snow gathered. You can see the path by the water is clean of snow and the grass is still showing through. However, in the back where the wind didn’t blow everything away we had a good 16 to 17 inches of snow. In the picture to the lower right you can see a path I cleared away. What you can’t see is that there is clear plastic on top of the bricks. I have the area outside my back door and just beyond the gate, and the area around the garbage bin covered in plastic. When all is over and the snow is shoveled away…..I have Franco take the plastic up and my bricks are perfectly clean…..no ice or slippery spots for me to slide and fall on……All in all it was a beautiful snow fall!

Thanks for the pictures I’m fascinated by the water in your backyard.
Here where I am on LI I can say we got about 1’ but with an additional 6” of drifts! My next door neighbor with his gas powered snow blower was able to clear the driveway & it’s mouth so I could get to the supermarket for more essentials. A car driving by stopped & help me clear a shovel length path to the public sidewalk. I had already yesterday cleared a path to the driveway so the mail could be delivered. Unfortunately, all our children live elsewhere & my DH is disabled so cannot assist me. I am grateful for neighbors who can help out.
Beautiful! Love the snow. Enjoy the beauty, Louis!
I miss seeing snow. Makes everything look so fresh and clean…
Today was a beautiful day in Houston, so I can’t complain…
61 degrees and sunny, so I enjoyed my garden..
Some of my flowers are very happy with the milder weather so far this winter.
Hope this summer is milder, too. August in Texas can be really rough!
Thanks for the pictures, Louis!
Now that’s real snow! It looks beautiful. Hopefully, you don’t need to drive it in, Louis, but can instead enjoy nature’s beauty from indoors next to the fireplace. Cela, your suggestion was a good one. I’ve given those to family members and they love them.
Smart trick. Sometimes the ice blends into the shadows, and it is invisible. Is that what’s known as
black ice? And Louis, do you ever see snow or ice
on the water??? That must be amazing.
But just in case Louis, you should have these. F09440.
What is FO9440??
Item number on QVC. Look at the demo.
Very rarely…….sometimes close to the shore, but in all the years I have live here I’ve only seen ice flows 2 or 3 times. It has to be below freezing for a long stretch for ice to form on the open water.
