……………As you can see from the CAD there were ELEVEN new items for April plus reorders! The LINEN jacket at the bottom left was a beauty. The detailing of the emb. was truly special. The entire jacket was banded in two rows of black Poly Charmuse……in between was a type of railroad or ladder tape that was inserted between the two rows…..Then Square shape jet beads were sewn on either side of the jacket and sleeve borders to create these pyramid shapes. It came in the 3 colors shown all with black. It was reordered for the next season in 3 more colors…one being mocha. The raglan short sleeve sweater had a wide yoke of hand crocheted triangles. I believe there may have been small round black beads in between each triangle. This sweater looked great under the linen emb. jacket with the play of triangles………The next three pieces all coordinated. There was a cotton sateen jacket, crop pant and sweater tank all with wooden beads in turquoise, brown, red and natural. The design was inspired by the American Indians……….Next to that was a crinkle georgette V-neck button front tunic. The Black and Natural had beautiful ethnic embroidery down the front and bordering the sleeves……The next tunic sweater was in a wonderful Linen yarn that had some weight. It had a ballet neck with an attached band of linen knit that “rolled” to create a sort of collar. It had wide ribbed borders which in the linen looked very gutsy and rich. This sweater also had a border of wooden beads at the neckline……..To finish the group was a long bias linen skirt which looked great with the linen sweater, and the sweater with the crocheted triangular trim………It also looked great with the linen jacket!

I still have the linen beaded jacket in black. After all of these years it’s still in perfect condition and still au courant. I love seeing your sketches!
Pam….that was Jac’s favorite too…of course it was…..it was BLACK…LOL She did also wear the natural color one too on occasion…always with all black. They are still hanging in her closet.
Hi Louis,
My son was married in a simple outdoor ceremony in the U.S. and then in a formal ceremony in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. I wore the linen jacket trimmed in black (shown above) for the outdoor ceremony and have many pictures marking the occasion. To quote Bob Hope…”Thanks for the memories”.
P.S. I did make the onion dip and enjoyed it while the Bucs whipped the Chiefs.
Absolutely agree with you, Louis. If I had the room, I wouldn’t have given away any of my Linea. I do have the crops (black) and tank (yellow) with the beading. You aren’t going to find beading like that anymore at retail.
Louis, I am so enjoying this trip down memory lane! Thank you! Of this group, I still have several of these pieces. They were just too unique from which to be parted. I still wear them and receive compliments. Hard to believe this many years have passed. That’s what I always have loved about your clothes and jewelry….classic, beautifully made, and have the “designer look” (which you are!) I’m so glad that I have hung on to these pieces.
Dear Sallie….don’t ever get rid of your pieces. Just because they are old doesn’t make them DATED! You will not find anything with the fabrics or quality that compare with these vintage pieces. As I too go down memory lane with all of you I realized how current and today these clothes still are. I would design the same things today…..only I couldn’t afford to make them again! So take good care of what you have and they will give you years and years of enjoyment!
