…………………………..The Boucle jacket with the zipper trims was one of my all time favorites!!! When I showed the sketch to Elaine she started speaking Chinese. I knew this wasn’t as good sign and a “discussion” was to follow, but to my surprise we just started to discuss the details….PHEW! She went into the back workrooms and in 5 or 10 minutes came back with a sample of zipper teeth sewn into the boucle fabric for me to see. It looked perfect. As it turned out, since zippers already came on tapes, and you could order the zippers in yardage [they are later cut in lengths and finished with stoppers and pulls] it wasn’t going to be any more difficult than adding a piping……..HOWEVER….it was the amount of zippers that were going to have to be sewn on that caused Elaine to speak Chinese!!!! They were everywhere , collar, lapel, fronts, bottoms sleeve hems pocket flaps too. I’m surprised I didn’t insert them into the body seams! We ended up making it as a 3 button front with beautiful gold half ball buttons…..When the samples came in from China, Elaine wanted to present them to me so I went to the office, and they were hanging around the showroom…..OMG…..one was more beautiful than the other. I couldn’t believe my eyes….my jaw dropped!!!….This was way too good for QVC….This collection should have been in NYC Fashion Week!

I have both the jacket with the gold leather and the jacket with the zippers. Love them both. They still look terrific. I also still have and wear the suede TSV. I miss these type of beautiful pieces.
So, I take it THIS boucle jacket with zipper trim was YOUR favorite over the Boucle jacket with GOLD leather banding that was shown in July 07 ? The one with the double pocket flaps on each front ? BOTH
were on the “Runway” sketches, how did TPTB decide
To go with the leather banded one?
Cela….I decided….the buyer was fine with either one. I really loved them both equally. I truly hated to give the samples away, but what’s the point of keeping them in storage?
No point at all, better to give them to someone who can enjoy them.
But there’s an exception. If you really admire and love
The jackets and they inspire joy just looking at them and touching them then I think you should keep them .
You own them , you have the copyright so they belong
only to you, even if you can’t wear them. Amy , the host on QVC says that every time she buys a new blazer, she gets rid of one, I build a new closet. The same thing that made me love that thing when I bought
it, is what made me keep it, and just because it’s stored
safely away doesn’t mean It’s not like seeing it for the first time when I take it out again. Did you know Barbra
Streisand built a “mall” with little boutiques on each “side of the street” IN HER HOUSE ! LOL
It’s me Cela.
I guess Amy must have very small closet space! I did know Barbara has a mall in the basement of her house. I’ve seen it and it’s actually a little weird and spooky!
I have it in black also – bought from eBay brand new a couple of years ago:-) I could not believe it when it arrived. The details and execution of it are exquisite.
Louis, I wish I could find this gem on the various websites that sell clothing. It’s fabulous. Anyone out there wanting to give a size 6 a new, loving home I’d be much obliged! Love it!
I have one in black!!!! Love it!
Susan….you have a GEM. That same jacket, as is, on any designer line today would be over $1000.
