“APRIL SNEAK PEEK #1 & #2”

April Sneak Peek #1 is the PONTE KNIT BLAZER, A233182. In a world of jackets why this one? As you know, out of every type and kind of garment, JACKETS are my first love…..so I am always thinking of ways to come up with something new, something you may not already have in your closet. Jac and I love wearing any kind of sweat shirt or sweat jacket in our leisure time………..it’s totally about comfort! ……..This jacket is a HYBRID……….I have married a sweat shirt with  a blazer and VIOLA. What does this actually mean?…… First, this jacket is TOTALLY UNLINED and TOTALLY UN-CONSTRUCTED , as a sweat shirt would be for a RELAXED, SLOUCHY, CASUAL look and FEEL. There are also patch pockets with  bands set in, similar to the  Kangaroo pockets you would find on a sweat shirt……. To give it the look of a blazer it has a notch collar and lapel. The jacket is approx. 26 inches long in the front, and shorter in the back to give it a slouchier look. The sleeves are 3/4 length to keep it nice and cool and there are snap out shoulder pads….if you want them. This is like putting on your favorite, most comfortable cardigan. I have kept the tailoring to an absolute minimum. This IS THE JACKET you will wear with your jeans and a T shirt……it’s a no fuss garment and you will hardly know you have anything on. The fabric is the same Ponte Knit as my TSV jacket with the peplum. The colors for this jacket are…………BLACK……LIMOGES BLUE ……..NECTARINE………….WHITE……………The nectarine is NOT a MATCH to the nectarine WK. In the photos above the nectarine cardigan looks very close in color to the jacket, but they are different. I wouldn’t want you to wear nectarine from head to toe anyway. It’s best broken up with white and navy [as photo above], and of course JEANS. What is wonderful about this jacket is…it is very casual, but you can also wear it to the office , lunch, or dinner with just a change of bottoms and accessories.

A233183, is the Ponte knit drawstring skirt. It also comes in the same colors………….BLACK………….LIMOGES BLUE……….NECTARINE……..WHITE…………White is the only color that is LINED. The skirt is approx. 22 1/2 inches long to 23 1/2 inches…..depending where you wear it on your body. The flexibility of the drawstring allows you to wear it a little more relaxed and further down on the waist or high hip…. if you want it to be  a little longer. There are two gold grommets where the drawstring comes out of the waist band………… This skirt has great pockets! …………….The skirt looks perfect with the “SWEAT BLAZER” or equally great on its’ own with  one of the new Whisper Knit sweater sets…………………… It really is all about comfort and fun………………………….scroll down for more pics!………………………enjoy…………….much Love…………….Louis

Louis, I love all of your clothes. My husband’s name is Louis and I call you my other Louis. I would love to see the little drawstring ponte knit in as many colors as possible. I just ordered my third. My dream skirt would be this exact skirt but lose the drawstring and grommets (adorable but…) this would make it easier to wear a knit top out over the skirt.
P.S. You are right about linen. Love it.

Help me out. When I think sweatshirt, I think fleece. This isn’t fleece and I’m trying to imagine the fabrication. What is the difference between this and the TSV ponte jacket? I have that one so your explanation will really help.

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

Dear Sharon….the reference to “sweat shirt” is strictly styling. The fabric is the exact same ponte as the TSV jacket…..not fleece.. No, I have no boot length skirts in ivory coming.

Thanks Louis, appreciate it. This jacket is getting rave reviews and we are urging all to post their reviews on the Q item also.

What a hit these items were. I was thinking of pairing the ikat tunic, in blue, over the limoges blue skirt, and maybe using the white jacket as a coverup? Mainly I’d like to know if you think the ikat will complement this skirt in blue. TIA.

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

Dear Cela,…….. the blue Ikat top will definitely work with the drawstring Limoges blue skirt. The blue in the top is a little paler, but they are the same family. I don’t know if the top and the jacket are compatible……both have three quarter sleeves and the volume of the top may be too much [even though it is very soft] to wear under the shaped jacket. Also, remember the jacket has no lining and the print is very bold, so you may see it through the jacket. Personally, I don’t mind seeing a hint of a solid color, but the print may be too much. You would be better off with a lined whit jacket.

      1. Cela

Are you planning a little all purpose cover up this spring, for example, like the anorak with the gold front zip? Or am I not supposed to ask?

        1. Louis Dell'Olio

You can always ask….nothing like that this year……. maybe next.

  4. Linda

Last year you got me to wear maxidresses(love yours) and this year I’m wearing skirts in the summer. These look cute and casual. I love that you can customize the waist with the drawstring. I’m getting blue and white. Thank you so much for your beautiful and well made clothing. I second Kate for next year’s colors and for the optic white WK sweater set. lrmuffin

Since I know that skirt is (a) going to sell out in black, white, and probably blue, and (b) look amazing, I am starting now to lobby for navy and gray when its reordered next year!

Nothing will stop me from ordering in white (x2), black, and I have to have the orange.

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

It’s a terrific skirt…..I’m sure you will want to shorten it so it is above your knee. The Nectarine and Limoges Blue are outrageous!

      1. Kate

Yes, I plan to shorten it (how well you know us!) and the orange is the perfect excuse to go shoe shopping!

  6. Linda

Now, I really can’t wait to see this collection available on Q.
Here in Syracuse, orange is always in style.

    Good Morning Louis:

This sporty little skirt is @ the top of my Spring Order list! Love the color choices. Combined with the matching jacket will be great for a casual Friday at the office OR can picture wearing on a sunny Saturday with my hair in a high ponytail & retro cat-eye sunglasses heading to the Farmer’s Market to load up the basket on my urban Townie bike!

Are there seaming details on the back of matching ‘Sweat Blazer’? Also, will the nature of the knit be an easy HEM? (I prefer this style in a shorter length) Those pockets look divine……..TIA

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

Yes…..the seams are on the back also…….due to the patch pocket there is a limit to how much you can shorten the jacket. I wouldn’t go more than one inch. Any tailor should be able to shorten it.

      1. Pamela in Anchorage

I want to shorten the SKIRT, not the jacket. My long-time tailor does not alter knits – just nervous about finding someone new for the task, since I plan to purchase the skirt in multiples.

Your jacket designs are NEVER less than PERFECT ! ! !

        1. Pamela in Anchorage

          Sorry to confuse…..

        2. Louis Dell'Olio

He doesn’t alter any kind of knit or just sweater knits? This is a cut and sew fabric so it shouldn’t be a problem. He may not be able to handle the stretch. I think you will be able to find someone. Do you have anything else in this fabric that you could show him?

          1. Pamela in Anchorage

My tailor is Italian with a thick accent. Many times he has said “Bella, Bella – anything but knits for you Sweet Bella” – LoL. He’s a master – it’s not that he can’t, but a matter of WON’T. Love him like a family member. I’ll find someone & soon in anticipation of these fantastic skirts – just my style.

I now have (5) of the TSV Blazers! Had to get the White to mix with the coming Fiesta colors of WK’s.

            Thanks for your reply.

  8. Maria (Goldie 76)

Why are you teasing those of us who are fish-less (the pendant, that is) with such a prominent display of the alluring sea creature? Is there, perhaps, another “catch” in the near future?

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

Sorry the picture was taken and the collage made before the fish swam out to sea. It’s going to take time before “they” decide if the pendant meets the reorder standard.

      1. Maria (Goldie 76)

An ocean of tears has begun to flow.

  9. Lonlira

I am all over this fantastic Ponte Suite! Have been anxiously waiting for this Peak and as usual, Louis you have surpassed yourself. This is what casual summer is all about. Love the colors with the WK and the balance against the white and black. Soooo sharp, Louis!

  10. Debbie Macy

Finally! I had such a bad case of withdrawal!!!

Is that a new tee shirt?

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

No that is not a new T….well actually it was, but it went down with SANDY. I will be bringing back the cotton/span T-shirt with the short sleeves and metallic piping in the ivory and two new colors…..navy and espresso.

      1. Debbie Macy

If you ever have the opportunity for a new tee, I would love a plain white.

        1. Chris/Jazzmom

I really like those metallic trimmed tops– and look forward to the new colors. It raises the T shirt up a notch with that trim.
