……………………….The October 10 Essentials Group consisted of a Roma Ponte Jacket, and a coordinating skirt. There was also a rayon/nylon jersey sweater [WK]…..The jacket was double breasted, and I remember the inspiration came from a jacket Greta Garbo wore in the movie Ninotchka…It had a self fabric tie belt….The DTM buttons were in the beautiful faux horn……The was a coordinating long knit skirt was a pull-on with a back slit. The colors were Forest Green and Espresso…..The rayon/nylon sweater was in a jersey stitch with tubular trims. It had a slight waist shape and had 3/4 sleeves…..It had a jewel neckline and came in Forest Green and Sienna.

Dear Louis….I truly love your designs and miss the seasonal anticipation of your designs on QVC! I remember logging on to QVC before sunrise on many occasions to get in line for your wonderful offerings! Your photographic remembrances here on your blog are wonderful examples of why Linea (or a similar brand name) should be re-born in 2021!
What’s so interesting about this beautiful jacket is that
This sketch is so much more than a sketch, it’s a blueprint, for building this jacket. I guess 3” from center
Front to the tip of the collar is a way of leaving nothing to the imagination, or chance? But isn’t that the job of the pattern maker? Isn’t it enough that the designer can sketch something that is capable of being rendered into a garment? Just wondering…
Cela, normally when working with a pattern maker all of this info would have been discussed, but these sketches were for the most part sent to China, and it was better not to leave too much for them to interpret.
Oh, I see . Did you ever travel to China to meet with factory heads?
I think I bought all of your October offerings, Louis, the novelty sweater and the stretch velvet pieces in two colors. I had just gone up from my earlier Linea Small size to a Medium and was replenishing things in my wardrobe. At that time I was on the large side of Small and the small side on medium. I have always liked sufficient drape in my clothes and do not like things fitting tightly. But alas!!! The Ninotchka suit was really large, but I kept it anyway as the Small I would have exchanged it for was sold out in the Forest Green. But happily now, I am on the large side of Medium and it fits wonderfully! On a trip back to Vienna I bought a wonderful large wool challis scarf to wear with it. And also with sufficient drape! I like to wear the black organza flower on the ivory/black cardigan. Worn with the black velvet pants it makes a stunning outfit! I often wear the green velvet set during Christmas. It is so comfortable!
I miss buying Linea skirt ensembles already. For a skirt loving lady, it was a dream come true to find you, Louis!
