……………….Since we whizzed through TEN YEARS OF LINEA, I thought we would take an intermission!…….In the spirit of the retrospective of my career I thought it would be fun to look at some of the clothes I created for Anne Klein……We published what was known as “LOOK BOOKS” for each collection. These were photos of each of the items on the individual collections. We supplied these books to our “A” and “B” stores. These were high end stores that had separate Anne Klein Boutiques within the stores. Customers could look through them and place advanced orders on the items the stores had ordered, and they could place “special orders” on items the stores did not buy. Unfortunately, when I left Anne Klein many of the books were left behind so I have a limited number of them. What I do have are VSH tapes of many many shows……I should have them converted before they are ruined, but even DVDs have become a thing of the past……..I hope you enjoy this “look back” at some of the collections from the past………KEEP IN MIND……..this RESORT 1991 collection is THIRTY YEARS OLD!!!!!!! I can’t believe it myself, but when I look at the picture of the clothes it all comes back to me……These pictures were all taken in East Hampton and Montauk Point…….They were all having so much fun during this week and a half long photo shoot that I decided to spend the last two days with them. That’s when my “head shot” was taken…..We all had a great time….lots of good memories!!!!

hi Louis
I’ve been away from the internet for awhile and just saw this- great photo-I see the Rossano Brazzi resemblance too- I’m thinking of you and Jac in Il Postino at your friends beautiful house…
Since my travel is limited- I’m living vicariously through some of your photos-
Sarah
Sarah….if you would like to see the villa I went to twice a year for 16 years google “Villa Lily, Praino, Italy” It is now a luxury rental villa. Very little has changed. The pool area is exactly as it was, lounge chairs umbrellas and all. It brings back great memories. It was the finest villa at the time, and one of the few with a pool.
There is a bit of Rossano Brazzi in your look captured in the photo. Very handsome. Very magnetic.
Goldie….I was always told I looked like Tyrone Power, but never Rossano Brazzi. He was a wonderful actor. He and Katherine Hepburn made a fabulous pair in “Summertime”. One of Jac and my favorite movies. David Lean photographed Venice like no other
Louis, “Summertime” is one of my favorite films. Yes, I agree, director David Lean was unmatched in the way he captured the beauty of Venice as well as the romantic yearnings of a schoolmarm type and a frustrated husband.
Those red suede shoes Hepburn bought and dropped from her feet before the fireworks (two kinds) exploded. Ah yes. I love this film sooo much. I keep waiting for it to appear on TCM. Three to five years I’ve waited, but it has not been shown again. “The Roman Spring of Mrs. Stone” is regularly aired but not “Summertime.”
As for your resemblance to Brazzi, there is something in your faint smiles, your eyes, the lines from your nose to your mouth that you both have. You have a similar look. I adore Rossano Brazzi.
Dear Goldie…you can see Summertime on either Netflix or Amazon Prime….I know because I saw it on one of them. Go to search and type the name in……I did’t think R B played a frustrated husband. He seemed to be very typical of an Italian husband in Italy, a very Catholic country, who has separated from their wives, and can not get divorced, but live very separate lives. He seemed to be very happy with his affair with KH and didn’t want it to end.
You are right on your take of Brazzi’s role. The frustration I was thinking of was that of living in a marriage that had lost its vitality, shall we say. He was very smitten with Hepburn’s prim secretary self who learned to unwind in his enveloping Italian embrace.
And that theme song… Oh, it leaves me breathless and remembering wonderful times in my own life.
Jac and I watched the movie two times before we went on our first trip together to Venice. She had already been there to do fashion shows for both Armani and Valentino, but that was work, and she really couldn’t explore the city. She saw enough to know she wanted to go back. She was so excited to take me there! She knew I would be overwhelmed by its’ beauty and Jac was right. We went back to Venice two more times! The movie was like a travelogue of what we wanted to see and where we wanted to go. Of course we had to go to the square where KH fell into the canal, and where his antique shop was, and of course we had to buy a RED GOBLET!!
Thank you for the tip about seeing the film on Netflix or Amazon.
These retrospectives are just wonderful. Please do get those VHS tapes digitized! I’ve tracked down (so to speak) a few Anne Klein episodes of CNN’s Style! with Elsa Klensch that once were highlights of my Saturday mornings. And I remember the look books at Dayton’s.
I also loved watching Elsa Klensch’s Style episodes! They were wonderful.
Louis, I’m looking forward to the retrospective. Thanks for sharing it with us. You look great in the picture! Very Hamptons or Monte Carlo, like you left your yacht docked in the marina. Lol!
