…………………….Men’s clothes have always been an inspiration……..I guess it’s that old Hollywood glamour of Katherine Hepburn and Marlene Dietrich….with a little Carol Lombard thrown in. The men’s pattern linen blazer and solid linen trouser mixed with beautiful pinstripe linen shirts…..with a touch of GOLD METALLIC…..gave a summer crispness that always looks fresh and clean. The shirt had tiny clear resin buttons that my jewelry company made for this collection. There was also a stretch cotton sateen short skirt with an exposed front gold zipper as another option………Gleaming metal belts were a major theme for this 1991 Resort line.

Louis- I wonder… Just watched a Dennis Basso show- seems like maybe your “Budget Line” at QVC was moved to his. Some items- trench coat jacket, sleeveless shirt and a jacket eerily remind me of your pieces. May be he also received a memo to “step it up” with some younger styles- Short linen jacket also. He is quite a guy but he is not you. Dixie
I would definitely take classes featuring you. I have already learned so much from your posts and when you were presenting items on QVC. I, too, deeply regret that you are no longer having shows, but it seems like they have dropped everyone of your caliber, and replaced with clothes I wouldn’t wear or buy. Thankfully, I really bought like I had a small fortune, from when I first found you until you had your last show. It’s such a joy to wear them. And it’s a delight to see past collections, both from before I discovered you and from your couture designs.
Thank you for all your clothes and recollections. They are truly special.

I loved linen when I lived in Palm Springs in the late ’80’s/early 90’s. We were still wearing nylon stockings in those days, but everything else had to be natural fibers or it felt like I was wearing neoprene. Having moved there from the beach, it was a real turnabout. I used to tell people at the beach, if you put out cheese and crackers, the crackers got soggy, but in the desert, the cheese gets hard. The desert was the destroyer of elastic, but you could hang dry anything and it was like you put it in the clothes dryer it dried so fast. Both the beach and the desert beat the pants off of snow, so no complaints!
Louis, I have not yet availed myself of MasterClass online classes, but you would be in great company if you became a contributor. I agree with “G” that you would be a brilliant addition to their roster of talented masters (Annie Leibovitz, Aaron Sorkin, among many others in a vast array of different disciplines). During the Winter I discovered them, only to find that one of my sons already had tapped into their treasure of knowledgeable experts. So far, I have not used their self-paced online classes because of a host of other things I’ve had to deal with first. But, I will be using them. An annual fee covers everything.
And the fashions featured today are gold.
I have loved reading your blog and am one of the many who lament that you will no longer be selling your clothes & jewelry on QVC. Every time I read your blog, I learn something and I am uplifted. Do you know the online platform MasterClass? I was introduced to it by my millennial daughter. It is an online platform where subscribers can watch, at their own pace, pre-recorded video lectures by masters of their trades. There is a Design & Style category (current teachers include Diane von Furstenberg, Frank Gehry, Marc Jacobs and more). With your vast knowledge, experience and ability to express yourself so beautifully, I think you would be a natural to teach on this platform.
Blessings & Respect,
G
Dear G, I didn’t know anything about it. I will see if I can find it.
