………………On Saturday, we went to the “Sugar Bowl”, which is one of the oldest diners in Darien. I love to go there for breakfast, one because the food is good, and two because they decorate the place for every holiday. They have lots of Americana all over….hanging from the ceiling, on the walls, over the counters etc……Where ever you can hang a decoration they will put one, and they do that for every holiday. I don’t know who enjoys it more…….the kids who give it a glance, or the adults who really appreciate the effort!…..Then we drove to Westport to visit a store called “Terrain”. It’s a store with a large outdoor garden center, and inside there is a cafe [in good weather it extends outside], and there are very clever and unique home items inside. They have everything from soaps and candles to dish towels, interesting bottled drinks, jewelry, totes, and a whole section on things to make topiaries. They have lots and lots of unique things for the home…. Chris loved the unique water display on one of the outside walls made out of tin cans and tubing. I wouldn’t be surprised if Chris makes his own version….As I said he’s very crafty……Knowing how much I love elephants, he gave me the little elephant which I immediately christened “Little Christopher”…….I’m always sorry to see him go, but if all goes well hopefully there will be many weekends between now, and when we make our safari trip to Africa this year!

Another lovely visit! I see the DellOlio in his smile too. I am so glad that your safari is a go and that Chris is going with you.
Hi Louis,
I’m so happy to hear that you will be going to Africa in August! Chris seems like the perfect traveling buddy!
Best! Diana
Chris seems like he’ll make a perfect travel companion. Any man who launders and remakes the bed is my kind of houseguest, too. I sure hope you both can go, but the virus seems to be spreading to the far corners of the Earth now. My husband and I had to cancel our trip to Peru last fall, and we’re not sure yet when we can reschedule. Getting stuck in far away place is not our dream trip!
We have been told everything is a go.
Louis, when do you leave? Are you going to one country or will you be visiting a few while you’re on the trip? BTW, thank you for sharing the name of the safari outfit that you’re using. They look amazing and are now on my bucket list!
Dear Michelle….we leave at the end of August which is the prime weather time for South Africa. We will be in Botswana visiting three different camps. They are about an hour and a half flight from one another.
That sounds like an amazing trip! Visiting Botswana is on the top of my bucket list. I’m looking forward to reading your posts and seeing the pictures when you return.
Louis, you have a wonderful family!
And Chris looks like a fun guy to take a trip
To Africa with, even though, at one time in
His life he might have resembled “Alfalfa”
from Our Gang? He’s no Alfalfa now!!!! 😀
Dear Cela, Alfalfa was not the character I had in mind…LOL….there was this cute little guy with blond hair and a deep voice who always had biting little remarks……don’t remember his name.
Froggy ????!!!!!!
I think his name was Froggy. Or maybe I just made that up because of his voice.
Was it Billy Laughlin? He played Froggie and he had blonde hair with a bowl cut
YES! but Chris was much much better looking and his voice wasn’t that deep….LOL just a little raspy, but he could have been one of the gang.
Love it.
What a handsome guy your big Christopher is! Thanks for sharing your day with us, it looked gorgeous & fun. I look forward to your posts.
