“HAPPY 4TH OF JULY 2012”

…………………….Every year when the 4th of July comes I always have the same thoughts…..”maybe I’ll go into the city and see the Macy’s Fireworks”……but I never go. I’ve seen it a few times when Jac and I lived in the city, and I guess that will do. When we moved out of NY every year Jac and I watched the fireworks on TV. I guess that’s what I’ll do this year. Every year I say, “I’m going to have my yearly hot dog”, but this year I’m skipping it. Trying to loose some lbs. before my trip to Africa……Every year I think after the 4th “the summer is on its’ way out” even though it’s just begun. The days seem to fly by, and before you know it it’s September…….Every year I think “this is the greatest country in the world”. With the way this country has changed in ways I never thought….I pray that in all the years to come I’ll be able to say that this is still the greatest country in the world!…………..Happy 4th of July everyone!!!!!!!

    Hi Louis

Thought of you on the 4th. Spent the day at the ‘Fourth of July City’ in the Midwest.

    Hot!

Felt and looked fabulous in my Linea. White crop pants. Navy pebble crepe top. (Red flats. Gold jewelry)

    Thanks for my amazing wardrobe!

Happy Fourth of July, Louis! I hope you had a lovely holiday weekend! We had a family gathering at our home for the first time in a year and a half. We’ve gained a precious granddaughter during the COVID isolation, so it was a sweet and touching reunion. Aunts, uncles, cousins, and neighbors were there to greet our beautiful red-haired, blue-eyed girl!

Congratulations Bobbie, my mother, who was a red head, always wanted a red head little girl, but it wasn’t meant to be.

Happy Fourth of July! This is also my birthday! I live in a suburb of Nashville (native Nashvillian, too) where we’re supposed to have the biggest fireworks show in the US tonight (not sure about that as Macys show is huge). For me big crowds and fireworks aren’t that comfortable, so I’ll just watch this event on the television. Hope you’ve had a wonderful day!

Happy 4th Louis and all the Linea ladies! We stay home and just chill. The boys set off fireworks and I always fear we will have to go to the ER! Love and hugs everyone!

Dear Karen, you reminded me of when I was a teenager and we spent the 4th with friends of my parents. They lived on an inlet of water on the south shore of Long Island. The man had a crate of fireworks. We went down to the water and started lighting them and throwing them in the sky above the water. I held one a little too long and it went off just after I threw it close to my hand.I didn’t blow anything off, but my fingers were numb for a while. Needless to say I never lit another fire cracker again! Have you ever seen “Holidate” on Netflix. It’s very funny and there is a 4th of July scene that’s hysterical.

Boys have to learn the hard way, don’t they? I just had a conversation with my 20 yo about why they can’t shoot (a real gun thank you) over the bay of Green Bay at my parent’s cottage in the summer. Too many people there and sometimes they walk along the shore. He was confused??? I already know this is grandpa’s firm rule so I didn’t worry. It was was one of those moments when I am reminded that a lot of brain connections are yet to be made up until the age of 25, so when I ask myself what are they thinking?…they actually aren’t.

I will look up the movie! So hot here today. I have homemade chicken pot pie in the oven. Hugs to you!

I’m not much into fireworks, either. At least not enough to make an effort and fight a crowd now that the kids are grown. Our fire department used to do the best shows in a big stadium that we could take the kids to. It went on for hours. The police put on a K-9 show with helicopters, the emergency vehicles were parked in the parking lot for the kids to tour (and the adults, too, believe me!), loads of diet-busting treats to buy. The fire department had a clown squad that was very entertaining…they had t-shirt cannons and our son caught one of the projectiles. It turned out to be a disposable diaper with a tootsie roll inside. Our friends who own a bicycle shop would have a huge raffle for at least a dozen different kinds of bikes. There was always a live band and kids would go down on the field to dance. And as soon as it got dark, there was a really spectacular fireworks show. If you sat high in the stands, you could see all the various fireworks shows in the area–in the bay, at Disneyland, and all up and down the coast. Then when it was all over, the world’s most massive traffic jam to get out of the parking lot and on the road home. Such happy memories. DH and I are grilling burgers today, and I’m trying out a Jamie Oliver roasted potato and pickle salad. We’re happy to watch the celebrations on the big screen TV. With a slice of lemon pie. Happy 4th to you, Louis.

Happy 4th of July, Louis! Your message today is so on point. We must keep confessing and believing that our nation is a great nation and our prayers are answered on that. It is exciting to look forward to traveling and I pray that your trip will be fulfilling. Enjoy your 4th and the fireworks. I will be watching on TV too. Although my neighbors in recent years have lit up the skies with their celebrations. LOL! To everyone in the Linea family, have a wonderful 4th of July celebration!

    Happy 4th Louis!
I agree with you about the changes in our country, however, I can’t agree about skipping the hot dog!
I’m trying to loose a few as well, but today it will be potato salad and a bbq dog for me. Hope you are successful in your quest to loose some weight – having the trip to look forward to is a great incentive. My incentive…my 61 year (covid postponed) high school reunion. Good luck to us both. Hope things are open when your trip arrives.

Happy 4th, Louis! I am usually a little pessimistic about the recent developments within our nation, but I am more excited about celebrating Independence Day this year than I have been in a long time. Maybe it’s because the weather is so nice, but I have planned out all my outfits for the day. Patriotic outfits for church, the afternoon cookout with friends, and then watching “fireworks” from our yard tonight. Even my 17-year-old daughter is excited about wearing red white and blue and wearing a God bless America T-shirt today (her choice)! I will be wearing my Linea sapphire eyelet skirt, and red and blue Jac’s garden scarf to church!

Thanks for your wonderful clothes, and thanks for keeping the blog going to share your inspiration and thoughts. Happy fourth and best wishes for your trip to Africa. I hope you update us on that 🙂
