…………………….For many years, as long as Jac and I owned a home outside of the city, Jac planted her favorite MORNING GLORIES…..I love them too, and I have continued to plant them in her memory. Over the past four years for some reason I have had no luck with them. While everything else in the garden does beautifully, all I have gotten from the Morning Glories is a mass of beautiful vines, but no blooms. Franco, my gardener said, “maybe they are all male plants”….All male plants??? How are you supposed to know when you buy these little 3 inch plants in containers at a nursery which are male and which are female? There aren’t any signs, “MALE PLANTS, FEMALE PLANTS”, or any outward appearance to indicate the sex of the plants, so I dismissed this notion. For the last four years I maybe have gotten one or two blooms very late in the season….Oct. to be specific…..I have waited all season for the Morning Glories to bloom on these very lush vines, and had given up hope. Last year I got one bloom, and I thought history was going to repeat again…..after all it is the end of October……I made up my mind that if they didn’t bloom this year that would be the end to my planting Morning Glories….and I told them so! It was starting to get depressing…..Was it a sign??? Then, the other day there it was……one bloom….and then another, and another, and another. I guess they heard me! It’s not abundant, but hope blooms, and I’m happy to have what there is. Morning Glories were one of Jac’s favorites, and they always bloomed when she was here, but then they stopped…………….so I am very grateful for the blooms I have.

So glad your morning glories finally bloomed! I planted them on an arbor in my garden and I didn’t get any blooms until the beginning of September and then only a few. I wonder if adding bonemeal would help.
I don’t think so. There aren’t supposed to like fertilizer of any kind. You may get beautiful vines, but no flowers.
thanks Louis for the bloom photos. I had a lovely weekend visiting friends on Cape Cod. Of course I wore my Linea items and one friend especially liked the India Pink Status Print top. I was able to wear the blue jeans biking and kayaking- perfect pockets!
Thanks again for all the posts.

Hi Louis,
I love your morning glory story (hey, I made a rhyme!). That blue color is absolutely stunning along with the heart shape of the soft green leaves.
Like Melanie, I too am in Northern California where we had a recent heavy rain (so long overdue). Hubby and I drove to San Francisco yesterday and I wore my magenta v-neck whisper knit sweater and Linea navy jeans. (So comfortable and stylish!) I just picked up the navy sequin top and look forward to getting it for holiday wear! I miss your Linea line but am learning to shop my closet as I am lucky to have so many of your beautiful, timeless pieces.
Oh, by the way, I saw a Princess cruise ship in San Francisco yesterday as we drove across the Bay Bridge. Signs of travel and people venturing out!
Thanks for all of your Africa videos and pictures. So enjoyable!
Happy Fall and Happy Football!
Diana
Beautiful flowers! This is a little off topic, but we finally got rain in Northern California and the weather has cooled. I wore my new faux suede pants for the first time, along with a whisper knit sweater. They are so comfortable and look so expensive! So glad I purchased two black and one navy in the pants before they were gone. I miss your Linea line on QVC so much and want you to know how much I appreciate the quality and design of your clothing line.
