…………….This is the very first Vogue cover I received “ON MY OWN”. By this time Donna had left the company and started her own venture. I chose to remain at Anne Klein where I designed for another 10 years. Needless to say I was more than excited when I was told I was getting a cover, but when I saw it I was blown away. It was a first for me, and I think it may have been a first for Naomi Campbell, but I’m not 100% sure about that. If not her first it was her second…….It was a red jacket and pant completely covered in rows of gold hand sewn bugle beads. I had nothing to do with the necklace and earrings, which I wasn’t very fond of….but hey as the saying goes, “don’t look a gift horse in the mouth”, whatever that means? I was thrilled not only for me, but for the company. It was a great validation.

Louis, I *think* the expression, ‘don’t look a gift horse in the mouth’ means when given a horse for free, don’t check out it’s teeth to see if they are good.
Yes….that’s exactly what it means

Such an exciting and momentous time in your life, Louis! I am so impressed by your gifts and achievements. This one was certainly a golden one. Love the jacket, of course.
Louis, the Designing Man.
I remember that cover and great to hear your memories! I made Jac’s Ginger Cookies for the first time. Will be selling them at our church bake sale. They are delicious and chewy. Thank you for sharing her recipe!!!
Glad you liked Jac’s cookies!
Melanie, thank you for reminding me of Jac’s cookies! I usually make them this time of year.
Landing Vogue is momentous! How many other covers did you have?
About four. Most of the covers just featured a models face. Clothes were rarely really shown.
What a beautiful jacket! And with rows of hand sewn bugle beads all over it! The color is gorgeous. I never had anything of yours until you came to QVC and now that you are not designing there I am hoarding the Linea clothes’ that I have. And I have a lot.
Louis, that is one amazing outfit for your Vogue cover! Congratulations! Please keep these reminisces coming! They bring a smile to my face early in the morning and we all need a lift these days! Thank you for all you do for us!
