……………………….I invited my two nephews, Christopher and Mathew, and their two girlfriends, Danielle and Michelle to spend the weekend with me……I decided, instead of going to a restaurant I would cook….so like any good Italian would do I made a big pan of hot Italian sausage and mixed peppers with a side dish of tortellini with Marinara sauce…….We started with a large antipasto platter…….waited a while and then I cooked the main course which took about one hour. The boys and girls brought lots of other goodies to eat. Chris brought wo different Italian breads, and for desert Chris also brought Lobster Claw pastries filled with French cream and cannolis……..plus I made a big batch of Ginger cookers the day before. Danielle brought me a container filled with chocolate and caramel squares…….yummy……..Lots of wine and beer was consumed, but that was OK everyone was sleeping over……Lots of stories were shared around the fire…..Uncle Lou has become the chief story teller, but my nephews, as the onion gets peeled, have many stories to tell too…as do the girls……They shared stories with me that they had of their Aunt Jac…..It was nice to hear stories about Jac other than my own…. At about 11:30 the wine and food started to hit, and sleep was upon us……we all retired…….In the morning I made coffee, and I had made a very large bowl of refreshing mixed fruit and berry salad in orange juice…….Christ toasted sliced pieces of Italian bread and generously slathered them with sweet butter……Ginger cookies all around…….I offered to make eggs or pancakes, but everyone was still full from the night before…so the fruit salad, the toast and cookies were enough……I started a fire and once again we sat and ATE breakfast, and talked, but this time we made Mimosas to make the breakfast even more festive…….Later on, before they all left, we heated up the sausage and peppers, the Italian bread, and had a little lunch……….Everyone was very happy and relaxed including SAMMY who wasn’t used to the excitement…she was in her glory with everyone giving her tastes of this and that……all under my supervision…………..At high tide in the late evening…..I went to the waters edge, and threw Lily, Annie, and Ellie B’s ashes into the sea to be with Jac……Another anniversary has passed, and another year has begun.
